It’s not just Splash but other rides. That’s what happens when Disney lays off extra workers. All Splash needs is extra maintenance and left alone. Save Splash Mountain
Same with Disneyland. I was so disgusted and heartbroken. The lighting, animatronics were horrible and not just Splash mountain. Disneyland just refurbished Pirates & some of the Pirates weren’t working. Like wth Disney.
good. maybe if they don’t fix it, weird people will actually let the ride go now. im tired of that ugly thing parading its racist origins around to unsuspecting children. just the fact that they used a white voice actor to voice a black dialect for that ride makes me uncomfortable, not to mention the whole zip a dee doo dah racist origin story as well. don’t even get me started on the movie the ride is based on. it’s good that it’s dying out and being replaced, maybe then entitled disney goers can take a step back and realize that not everything the company does is to please specifically them.
Truly a shame! I remember when I was little riding on that ride.. it was always one of my favorites, my dad and I would go alot. Im so unhopeful for the future of Disneyland and I AM so sad the direction Splash mountain is heading in (not that princess and the frog is bad) But at this point it’s a historical landmark! And I hate how they can just throw out splash mountain because some random angry Karen said it’s racist oml.
this is a really awful thing to say to someone who lost her baby and enjoys the disneyland parks because it reminds her of what could have been. you people need to calm down about splash mountain, lol, it’s not a historical landmark. it’s one ride at an overpriced theme park. you’ll live.
A lot of this information has to be outdated, i was on Splash Mountain 2 days ago and all the animatronics mentioned were working and present. The whole ride looked great.
I’ve was on the ride last week. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Maybe a few dates parts but it absolutely did not detract from my experience. Sad it will be going
James Franklin Baskett was an American actor who portrayed Uncle Remus, singing the song “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah” in the 1946 Disney feature film Song of the South. In recognition of his portrayal of Remus, he was given an Honorary Academy Award in 1948, making him the first black male performer to receive an Oscar.
Really? This is the nail you want to keep hammering? You really need to get a hold of yourself. Parading racist origins? Hardly. I’ll agree that the movie the ride is based on has racial overtones, and maybe it’s a good thing that the ride will be re-themed. But NEVER in the 30-odd years that i’ve been riding Splash Mountain have I EVER held a racist thought in my head, nor have any of my children who’ve grown up with the ride and have come to love it. The ‘racist overtones” you trumpet about are not at the forefront of the ride…indeed like many others we weren’t made aware of the racist background until somebody (most likely someone like you) decided that this was the hill (pardon the pun) that they wanted to die on. You are losing your mind ON A THEME PARK RIDE! So much injustice and real hate going on in the world and this is the fight you decide to take on? Wake up and smell what you’re shoveling, and realize that your efforts can be better utilized fighting real racism and injustice in the world, and not attacking a theme park ride. My guess is you won’t, and you’ll most likely spend your time next attacking Warner Bros. for having Daffy Duck belittle those with speech impediments, or Hanna Barbera for so shamelessly forcing Wilma and Betty to endure stereotypical ‘housewife” roles
They should just close it now and stop ripping people off. Charging full price for attractions not being taken care of is wrong under any circumstances.
maybe if the majority of black people are saying it’s racist, we should listen to them lol. only black people can say what is and is not racist against black people. so,,, all of you saying it’s not racist need to stop speaking for us, educate yourself, and allow the world to change. stop being so stubborn, you’re not five years old. or maybe you are judging by your behavior.
Troll. Also, no one gives a flying eff if you’re a veteran. Get over yourself. Has nothing to do with the parks. And yes, Splash Mountain is racist so bye bye ride. Nothing you can do to stop it.
I was on this ride yesterday. I didn’t see any of the extreme issues as listed in this post. I saw two chickens not moving on the final scene, but everything else this person listed had been addressed when I went through. It was fine. But if the ride’s falling apart it’s just as well they’re replacing it. Out with the old, in with the new.
The same is going on at Splash Mountain at Disneyland in Anaheim. We were there 3 weeks ago and about 1/4 of the lighting wasn’t working, and more than a handful of the animatronics were not working (Brer Rabbit on the railroad car, the possum babies, Brer Fox pulling on Brer Bear’s tail, several of the birds in the finale scene). My guess is that it can be either attributed to staffing shortages, or they just don’t want to spend the money considering the ride will be completely re-themed in the coming year. I for one wish they wouldn’t re-theme the ride, but I can understand the reasoning behind it and it’s not a hill I personally want to die on (pardon the pun). No matter what they call it, it will always be Splash Mountain to me and my kids. Walt himself said that the park would always be changing, and this is just an example of that.

Disney is purposely doing this so people would want a retheme of Splash Mountain. It is pretty obvious.
Bob
Probably should add 10 bucks to the ticket price for this feature.
Dan

I agree, it is a perfect time to close it down and retheme it to take all the racist crap out.

WHAT RACIST CRAP??

I did Splash Mountain twice last week and we had no problems. Feel bad for frustrated guests but Disney seems to be hustling to fix problems.
