What about those without a smart phone.. there are still many who do not…

Not everyone is tech savvy. I’m not

    1. I agree. Some do not want to carry phone, cameras, etc. that all fall out and break while on a roller-coaster. Keep paper maps. They are a nice and free souvenir.

Just home from a 4 day trip to DLP. Using the app was difficult and downright frustrating for those of us of a certain age. Bring back the paper maps

Not everyone wants to carry around a phone that can run out of charge all day. Very sad day. The park maps very a free souvenier

Always loved to get a map first thing upon entering. Made it official and was a great souvenir. I have them going back 40 years.😡😡🍅

      1. Cornelius Smith

        I understand that me too.

I agree that not all have, or use, a smartphone. Also, we all know how unreliable phone service and their app are!!! What about when your phone died, gets wet, etc??!!!! Just another way Disney has cut off its nose to spite its face and why we’re NOT returning to the parks!!!!! We’ve talked with and seen online countless other families doing the same.

It’s just been one terrible decision after another ever since Chapek took over. Unfortunate they just agreed on a new deal to keep him around for a while. DW is going down hill quickly that cheap skate running it.

They are ruining all the magic of the parks…we are long time Disney fans – visiting to many times to even count. Unfortunately, we are seeking new vacation spots. It saddens me 😞

We went to Sea World last year and no maps. We are in our 70s and it made our visit quite confusing at times as four of us who had not been there in a few years tried to find shows, etc. Not everyone knows how to use their new options or carries a cell. They need a backup.

Ive saved every map from every trip. They change often. I hate this decision to force many to spend MORE time on a phone. Will they put up ugly “you are here maps” to help find the nearest restroom,or sit down dining? !

I went to Sea World (the Orlando one) last Sunday and they had no map at the entrance. However, they did have them hidden at the guest service corner for those who asked for one.

I agree about the phones running out of battery life and being technology challenged (ME!!), but also the screens are too small to see the entire map. I like to open the whole paper map and see all the parks at once and map out our strategy. Disney — stop making everything dependent on smartphones and digital technology!!! It takes too long to do in the phones. There are still a lot of us left that like the original!!

I don’t like having to use my phone for everything. I go to Disney to escape, relax & to get away from the technology. I think the idea stinks.

  9. Bennett Lavorino

More people with their heads in the phone not watching where they going

  10. Mason

Will you have to pay for the map too?

I like the map as a souvenir. I already have to carry extra battery chargers to keep my phone from dying. When you’re looking from one land to another, a phone view is to small to see the “whole picture”. Makes me sad that Disney would consider this.

I hate to hear that. I always saved a map from each park to use as a souvenir of our trips. It was interesting to compare them over the years.

    1. Kat

Exactly! The “free souvenir” aspect is gone if it goes digital! My mum and I still have our park maps from 2005!

  12. Salle

They should remove all maps from the park. It’s so wasteful and harm the earth.

    1. Randy Barker

Really you must be against the paper aspect and be a tree hugger

    2. You'reannoying

      Stick a sock in it.

80+ No phone! Now what? Guess we say good bye to our A.P.
No Disney Christmas or birthday gifts for family.

  14. Dorothy

Keep the paper maps! I do not carry my phone all the time! What about older guests who are not tech savvy or just don’t have a phone? I know you try to “keep up with the times” but believe it or not, some people don’t like to be glued to their phones all the time!

    1. James

      It’s only Disneyland Paris

  15. Kat

I don’t like it. I’d much rather they stick with paper maps.

  16. James

However, one Disney Park is reportedly removing these completely.

Twitter account @Cave0fWonders recently shared that the paper maps in Disneyland Paris have now been replaced with a QR code scanner instead. It’s just Disneyland Paris

  17. Timinator

OH C’MON!!! I’VE BEEN COLLECTING MAPS EVERY TIME I GO TO WDW (more or less since I was little). It’s one of my favorite souvenirs as it shows the history of different changes since the last time the map was updated (especially comparing maps from say 5+ years ago to today). Having a paper map gives you a complete feel as to where to go and how to get there without scrolling or waiting for it to die and needing a recharge.
    This sucks…

I HATE that old traditions are going away and QR codes and Apps forced! As a Disneyholic since a childhood I have not only treasured and worn those maps limp from use, I have saved them! Constantly trying to navigate on your phone while watching the battery level go to ZERO is one of the most frustrating things in life. Enough is enough! The entry fee for the parks is more than high enough to cover the irreplaceable and for many others I’m sure, Keepsake Maps! Nothing can replace their convenience and ease of use…….

  19. Marco

I’m a collector of theme park maps since 30 years… I consider this as blasphemy 🤷‍♂️

I was planning on taking my granddaughter for the first time. But with all the changes they have made I’m second guessing our trip. Who wants to spend half the day with there face buried in there phone instead of watching the joy on a child’s face. They have taken things way to far.
