I’ve not noticed influencers impacting my time at Disneyland. It’s oddly funny to see people stick there phone in front of them and sling their shtick, but they haven’t been intrusive to my personal experience.
Here’s the point….”Influencers” are morons who actually think people care what they think or say or do. Such a shallow life to think of ones existence is so important. Also shame on this site to continue to waste article space on these dopes. Do bettter!
Unfortunately, they have plenty of proof that people DO “care what they think or say or do” in the form of money as well as comments on their posts. Please keep in mind that just because YOU don’t care about something doesn’t mean nobody does. “Influencer” is just the latest name for a phenomenon that goes back as long as written language.
You said it perfectly! These “influencers” think people care about every little thing they say. What they really are are people who don’t want to work for a living hoping that they will get enough idiots to follow them so they don’t have to work.
I live near Disney and can say that it isn’t worth the kind of money that is charged for the amount of frustration that you are subjected to over many areas while visiting any of the parks. I truly would not be happy to spend the kind of money that people do to come to the parks for days and weeks at a time. It is ridiculous and insane. Disney does need to do better, BUT even a huge company like Disney has to come back from pandemic losses so I would expect that kind of frustration to continue. I would think twice before visiting Disney. Universal Studios has its issues as well, but as a local, I would spend my money there before Disney. Just my two cents for what it’s worth, which may be little to nothing to most Disney lovers.
That’s a good point considering COVID. It’s a frustrating road to recovery and of course, Disney was also hit like every other business out there. I guess they’re doing the best they know how to cover any losses. Made things more expensive and feels like greed to many people. Maybe it is.
I agree with this, sadly they won’t need to improve because people will continue to pay whatever they ask. Side note, why do people feel the need to put their opinion on influencers here?
Well it does matter what they say. There’s a reason why their called a influencer. Some people even pay their favorite influencer so they can continue making their content. It honestly sounds like your jealous of them. I feel sorry for you.
Disney land used to be a place for kids to go. I dreamed of it as a kid but never got to go. When i did, i felt awful i was in my twenties. But when i got there it was mostly adults…im as short as a child though. So i never got to see any of the shows even though i was right there. People had kids on shoulders just to give them a view. They should have an adult Disney park and a child friendly one. So that kids can enjoy it. There are some food places you need to book half a year ahead of time to eat at. What about the kids at the park? Who want to eat at a place themed by their favorite characters? Too bad you have to be an adult and book it.
…. Disneyland was never meant “for children,” it was meant from the start “for families.” Families generally do include adults. And it’s a TERRIBLE idea to let kids, especially young kids, book their own restaurant experiences. You know, because even TELLING TIME is not a universal skill that we’re born knowing.
Disney isn’t just for kids OR adults. It is and always was, for families. And the things people are complaining about are not new. You need to plan better to see shows.
Last time I was at Disney world was years ago, but even then, shade and benches were problematic. The lack of benches is probably intentional and related to crowd flow, but it sure is hard on those of us with difficulty walking and standing for long periods of time. I don’t know why they seem to hate shade. Maybe to sell hats, umbrellas, and water?
I agree with you, I too, can’t walk and stand as well as I used to, not even just to rest, but take in the sights and maybe have a drink. I went to Epcot in May, it was hot, not enough shade, or places to sit. I can’t enjoy myself when I’m hot, thirsty and want to sit. I’m in my 70’s, which shouldn’t make a difference, but for the admission fee, I shouldn’t be miserable and can’t wait to leave.
I’ve been going to Disney parks since the 1980’s. There has never been sufficient seating at the counter service restaurants for all the people who need a place to sit if you eat at traditional times (11-1 or 5-7). So eat early or late or off-park or don’t care so much that some of your meals are eaten sitting on the ground – such a first world problem. And apparently you are unaware that it is unusually hot this year. No air conditioning can keep up with high 90s weather for days on end and store doors opening again and again or always open. It’s cooler inside than out, it is not going to be the same temperature as your hotel room that you left on 55 all day long with the for shut. If you’re that hot take a break, go lay in your hotel room and come back after 6 PM. All the old ways still work, the influencer ways are truly hacks – shortcuts that might work but might not.
Influencer or just everyday person. Sure Disney has some issue at certain times of the year. This year has been extremely hot. Crowds are larger then normal everyday instead of just pecial days and or weekends. But regarding a few other comments. Cast members are under strict rules for what they can and can’t do. Guests recently have been rude, destructive and problematic. They have no respect for Disney it’s attractions and property. Or the fellow guests at the park. But these actions have been steady going down hill everywhere. Disney never use to have to repair rides due to guests messing with stuff. Nor did cast members have to become bouncers and police. It was a family place and people enjoyed themselves and didn’t walk around with the meme attitude. People knew everyone saved for these trips and respected each other and the property
I noticed more fighting and of all places… Like, who cares that a family saved to take their kids to Disney, let’s just fight other guests to get on F*ing TikTok… I didn’t have that happen when I went, but feel really bad for other families when I saw that stuff.
Now do parents that bring kids younger than 5, and use strollers to part the crowd. Until a child is OLDER than five, potty trained and can WALK on their own,(NOTE: Not talking about special needs kids…), they shouldn’t be there. The kids are miserable, every one around them are miserable.
You are one of the biggest problems with people at Disney, and in this world in general. Nutcase that doesn’t like kids, won’t be having kids, but still wants to be at Disney. You’re the type of person that runs for the tables that I talked about below.
You seem the type that would just have kids for the Kodak moments and make the woman do all the parenting. It’s people like you that force people to have babies their not ready for and make the baby live in poverty or make them sit in adaption centers. Also, childless people are childless for many reasons. Assuming that all childless people hate children is childish itself. I know many that love children but can’t have them. So no your the problem.
There is nothing wrong with being childless. Heck, there is nothing wrong with disliking children (I have several, and I love them with all my heart, but sometimes they just aren’t likeable, lol – particularly as toddlers or teenagers.. And of course, many times they are especially enjoyable at those ages, too, lol). But back to my point – there’s nothing wrong with not having our not wanting to be around children. But there is something particularly wrong with someone who thinks that children should be excluded from Disneyland for a majority of their most imaginative, magical years. Maybe that’s where a bit of the magic has gone as well. Young children don’t only believe in magic, but that belief and sense of wonder tends to exude from their little hearts and have an influence on those around them. Yet, Disneyland is short on this demographic currently. Either because parents feel like it’s no longer an environment where young kids are treasured, or feel crowded out by the young adults trying to relive their childhood, or are just cautious because of COVID. But I think that if Disneywants its magic back, they need to focus on the kids. I’m not saying to ban childless adults. But EVERYONE will benefit if the parks are made more child (especially young child) friendly again.
She’s right about places to sit. Last August at Magic Kingdom we got Casey’s and had to stand and eat because all the tables were filled with people waiting to watch the fireworks. Once they started and figured out you can’t see them well from the tables they moved, but it’s frustrating when you have a family of six trying to ear dinner and a single person runs to a table and sits without any food because they think it’s a good spot for the show.
Why didn’t you ask people or that one person if you could sit there then? It seems like you were perfectly fine standing. It just sounds like you want to complain when there was a solution.
Lmfao give me a fkn break.
There are free water fountains.. and for food its called bring your own fkn food in a cooler and leave it in your car and go out there to eat…
I bet shes also one of those fktards who thinks they should be able to live wherever they want for free 🙄.
It is absolutely NOT Disneys responsibility to keep you hydrated and fed
Influencers are too full of themselves for words. And guests are getting too self entitled. Yes, there aren’t enough places to sit if you want to eat at peak times, but you can eat at off peak times or reserve a sit down meal. And if you don’t know it’s going to be hot at these parks in the summer, you’re an idiot. There are enough places to cool down if you really need to.
They lose me at “influencers”.
Meanwhile, me here with a real job (teacher) and dealing with real life (sudden unexpected death of my children’s father, one child who is autistic and has an autoimmune immune disorder requiring infusions every 8 weeks …)
I go to WDW with my boys on my own to escape reality and enjoy the magic.
I definitely don’t look to influencers on what to do or the hottest thing.
But, that said, to each their own.
first world problems – go sit in a moutainous garbage dump in Africa and forage for your meals there in the blazing sun. Wah Wah wah soooooo many cry babies. How about expressing some gratitude. On the other hand – STOP going to Disney they have sucked for a very long time – Iger and now chapek could care less about any of you – they got their millions
Influencers are people who post their own “opinion” hoping to get others to follow their same viewpoint.
Sorry, not really, but I will make up my own mind and form my own opinion based on what I observe and feel, rather than follow someone else’s “opinion”.
Life is what you make of it, not what people tell you it should be.
The choice is simple, if you feel Disney does not provide the value for money, don’t go there. Disney’s finances show they company is doing fine despite the noticeable decline in the magic experience of the past. The only way the Mouse will listen is when the bottom line is affected. I’ve been an annual passholder (or whatever they call it now) since 1987. Yes, the experience has changed over time, but not so much to where I’ll stop going. If there’s something I don’t like, I’ll either avoid it or find a way to make it better that I can control. (your mileage may vary and the objects in the mirror may appear closer than the are)
I can agree with the author in that it seems that Disney is ignoring their base customers yet attempting to appease their fringe customers. Free advice to Disney; Major on the Major, Minor on the Minor. Focus on guest experience and service. And get rid of the political bull💩. Keep it magical! And welcome home!
Can we all agree that influencers are just sharing their opinion(s) and it’s up to the public to stop relying on influencers? (even Disney is relying on influencers, provided they have nothing negative to say about their Theme Parks – lol!)
Climate Change is real and those excessively 🥵 Summers at any Theme Park is not going to be pleasant unless you prepare for that / the Theme Parks evaluate what they can do for Park Guests (ie access to drinking fountains, access to shaded places to sit, shade for queue lines outside the rides / attractions, misters provided you’re not in a State with a water shortage problem, bring a refillable water bottle, wear a neck fan, dress for the weather, wear a hat).
There are opinions I can agree with (ie selfie sticks are annoying, admission prices are getting too expensive especially when 20% of a Theme Park is down for maintenance, food and drink prices are too high, there needs to be more places to sit in the shade, parking trams are a must especially at the end of the day, so are monorails and shuttle services, merchandise quality has gone down, there’s too much requiring you to use an app to reserve – purchase – schedule, etc) but there are solutions around these things.
Theme Parks are for everybody (toddlers to grandparents), we’ve come a long way making things more accessible for the disabled, there is always room for improvement (ie take better care of the Cast Member, be courteous to each other, permanently remove those who are violent towards one another). Let’s all have fun and stay safe.
Honestly, from what Im seeing is that Disney thinks tourist are where their money lies not with the passholders. Im visiting Disneyland and i haven’t been in 10 years because im in texas. For me these influencers are key to getting the most bang for my buck and also to get the most out of the days that I’ll be there. Influencers are passholders too so they’re in there every week some every day. They know all the best foods best everything so that’s why ive watched YouTube influencers. I dont have a tiktok. But there’s alot of good info and ideas given to tourist. So i think that’s why Disney listens or pays attention to influencers because they Influence their focus audience- tourists. Now i don’t know if passholders or tourists are more important. Passholders come often and buy merch and food more often. Tourist come once or twice in their life and they spend alot and get reservations for nice restaurants and hotels so im not sure which makes them more money but its clear they think its the out of towners. As for the magic, well im definitely worried its going to be ruined. Ive spent a pretty penny so I can have the best experience but I know the mobile orders and reservations for restaurants or rides are going to ruin our experience but im going to go in with a different mind set. Last time all of that ruined our honey moon. 10 days at WDW and we almost divorced lol. I made the mistake of over booking ourselves so this time im going to go with the flow. 9 years strong and finally going back! Wish us luck 🤣
Tourists are more important to WDW because of all the people on the east coast plus all the visitors from Europe. Passholders are more important at DLR because SoCal has as many people in it as all of Florida. They can’t simply assume that everyone within driving distance of DLR will pay full price for tickets.
Funny why does Disney have to do better, they do everything possible to make guests happy yet it’s never enough, and these so called influencers please all they are are silly lil kids who don’t want real jobs. They push all this nonsense and go in video everything acting stupid and think they are important. Maybe if guests realized this is a business and Disney doesn’t have to cater to every thing they feel they’re entitled too their trips wouldn’t be so frustrating
How did the influencer and you not make this say “bare necessities” instead of basic necessities?!?! You should both be shunned from the Disney community for this egregious sin lmfao
From the story: Suggesting that an influencer might be responsible for that is silly to me,” she argues.
“influencers” are a cancer on the parks and society in general. The sooner we get rid of the idiots that think “I have a camera, a youtube account and an opinion that people should listen to” the better off we will all be.
I agree with her comment on lack of places to just sit, chill and recharge for a minute. They also either need misters or more shade on that stretch from Cathay Circle to Goofy’s Sky School in DCA that can get brutal at times.
Hope everyone is viewing these comments as well as encountering these types of behaviors in LIFE in general and realizes….This isn’t JUST happening in Disney Parks…it everywhere you go. They pixie-dust in life is gone. Please understand I’ve always been a positive person but now noticing a difference!
They are so right! When we went, we were crazy tired from all the walking and sometimes just wanted to take a quick 5 minute break, but there was nowhere to sit…queuing for 3 hours for some rides in the hot sun and no shade or again nowhere to sit! The final straw was walking around Hollywood Studios where there is basically 0 shade especially in Toy Story Land, and no air conditioning. We nearly passed out from exhaustion…in the end we left and went to Universal.
As a 60 year old who basically grew up at Disneyland (and has been a rabid “all things Disney” fan my whole life), so much of what I am seeing from, not just the parks, but the company itself, is just heart breaking. If it’s not the over use of their movie IP in the parks (What they did to the Tower of Terror still haunts me. Ha! I crack myself up!), it’s the overcrowding, lack of amenities, poor upkeep, and complete lack of affordability for the average family. They HAVE to know how unhappy many of their fans are. I’m guessing, though, that the Shareholders care more about putting money into their own pockets, than even trying to live up to Walt’s legacy. I feel sorry for the kids who will never get to see the Disney parks with Walt’s magic still fully intact.
Just the title “influencer” makes me laugh so hard. I watch a lot of these so called Disney experts and I find it laughable. I have been taking my family to DW for years and I earned my Mickey Ears.
I woke up every morning at 2AM west coast time for weeks on end to book fast passes and dining for the entire trip only to have the family tell me they don’t want to eat at “insert restaurant name here” on the day of.
I’ve planned three week trips with a bit of on resort, Airbnb, and Disney Cruises for a 28 family members.
I’ve taken Disney Cruises out of Galveston and road trip convoyed extended family vacays to Disney World renting DVC points, using US veteran friends and Shades of Green (I’m Canadian)
I have at least 6 foolproof ways to get free parking at every park and resort that I will never share. Occasionally they don’t work but mostly they do and if they don’t you circle and try something else.
I have secret spots in every park where I can get shade, refreshment, and AC.
I know how to work cast members to get the things I want.
I know these things and have all this knowledge because whilst my family might clock in 20K steps I was doing 40K. Wearing a 40lb backpack and pushing a stroller that looked like a mobile gypsy market.
I have yet to watch a so called “influencer” video and say to myself, “that was a useful piece of knowledge.”
I like watching them because of how utterly clueless they are bumbling around the park thinking they are the keepers of secrets.
If you do a park solo and can’t do everything you want you would have to be utterly useless.
Take a family of 6 and do Remy, Gaurdians, Rise, Mickey and Minnie and Avatar in a single day without paying for Genie+
Do that and maybe you’re worth listening to.
Do that and take a coue of hours to wait in a guest relations and then your a god.
Or what I like to call a “Dad”
If anything it’s become so much easier to plan the park with all the technology. Now I have time to hide from my family at a lounge or two and still do all the things.
Do I have a sense of entitlement? Heck ya! I earned it. AP, DVC, soon to be Club33.
I live on the west coast of Canada and still got in 97 park days one year. If there’s 3 pieces of advice I could give and they have nothing to do with my secrets that I have learned over the years.
1. The more you go to Disney the more you can enjoy the small details. It’s the little details that are the true magic. If you’re doing a once in a lifetime DW trip and your there for less than a month, you don’t stand a chance to see all the things no matter what so called “influencer” tells you. That is, unless you’re with me. Then I can show you everything you need to see in 10 park days.
2. If you’re waffling about becoming an annual pass holder, DVC member, or Club33 member. Don’t hesitate. Do it sooner than later while your kids are still young. Nothing gets cheaper and the value is so much more when the kids are young. You get way more magic for your dollars.
3. Bring money. Even a veteran like me has felt Chapel’s hands in my pocket the moment you enter the parks. If you see something you like, buy it. If you want to eat something, eat it! Don’t hold back, you never know when you’re going to be back. I was there the day the pandemic closed the parks. I visited all four parks that day, drove an abandoned trolley through a Magic Kingdom that had less than 200 people in it, and ate at every kiosk at Epcot Center. If you have to budget then Disney is not for you. I’m not saying be wasteful; but flights, accomodations, and park tickets are just the tip of the iceberg. Don’t limit yourself once inside. Bring lots of money and do all the things. Don’t regret it later.
Bottom line: it would be WONDERFUL if there were enough benches/places to sit to rest/ tables for eating/ shady spots/air conditioned places to get out of the heat. Not everyone is used to walking around on the surface of the sun. It wouldn’t cost Disney that much and it would surely improve the experience. Now I hear that the resorts have made it so you can’t cool your room beyond a certain point, and they provide ‘beverage coolers’ instead of refrigerators that don’t get neat as cold. I fully expect to be exhausted from the heat when we go in September. But I will make the best of it.

Dawn
**Couldn’t care less** “could care less” means that they actually care on some level…..

Get a real job!
Brian
Obviously this person is not a true Disney fan…otherwise, she would not have said “basic necessities”…she would have said “bare necessities”! Lol!
Ron
Unrealistic expectations being placed on people dealing with unrealistic expectations.

Oh my God. How could anyone write this article and not use the term “Bare Necessities”!
Mary Ann
Funny why does Disney have to do better, they do everything possible to make guests happy yet it’s never enough, and these so called influencers please all they are are silly lil kids who don’t want real jobs. They push all this nonsense and go in video everything acting stupid and think they are important. Maybe if guests realized this is a business and Disney doesn’t have to cater to every thing they feel they’re entitled too their trips wouldn’t be so frustrating
Ibuddy66
How did the influencer and you not make this say “bare necessities” instead of basic necessities?!?! You should both be shunned from the Disney community for this egregious sin lmfao
drew
From the story: Suggesting that an influencer might be responsible for that is silly to me,” she argues.
“influencers” are a cancer on the parks and society in general. The sooner we get rid of the idiots that think “I have a camera, a youtube account and an opinion that people should listen to” the better off we will all be.

I agree with her comment on lack of places to just sit, chill and recharge for a minute. They also either need misters or more shade on that stretch from Cathay Circle to Goofy’s Sky School in DCA that can get brutal at times.
Ed
Hope everyone is viewing these comments as well as encountering these types of behaviors in LIFE in general and realizes….This isn’t JUST happening in Disney Parks…it everywhere you go. They pixie-dust in life is gone. Please understand I’ve always been a positive person but now noticing a difference!
Joe

Leah
Bottom line: it would be WONDERFUL if there were enough benches/places to sit to rest/ tables for eating/ shady spots/air conditioned places to get out of the heat. Not everyone is used to walking around on the surface of the sun. It wouldn’t cost Disney that much and it would surely improve the experience. Now I hear that the resorts have made it so you can’t cool your room beyond a certain point, and they provide ‘beverage coolers’ instead of refrigerators that don’t get neat as cold. I fully expect to be exhausted from the heat when we go in September. But I will make the best of it.
