The rides and the parks themselves are not being maintained. Was at WDW in Late June, the overall experience of the parks have become that of a six flags. We Have gone every year for over a decade, 2019 was a wonderful fun trip, 2022 was half the time, no meal plan, no park hopper (not worth it with restrictions) and cost 1,500 more then 8 day park hopper, quick service plan, memory maker trip we took in 2019. Normally you may run into one or two disgruntled cast members a trip, it was close to every other cast member you came in contact with was unfriendly. We are not going back for a long time if things don’t change
When the ride was built it was like being in a GM test lab and track a few years back they changed the ride for more modern cars of the future so you would go put it on your pass and then go to the vehicle station and put it in the scanner and you can see how your car is doing so it’s a fun activity for the kids now. I like the original version better.
This exact thing happened to us in 2016!! There was smoke and we had to escorted off the ride! It was a crazy experience and the cast member acted like it was normal. We asked to be out at the front of the line to ride again and was told no! They told us the brakes for hot!
Test Track uses real rubber tires. The ride runs doe 14-15 hours a day so the tires are going to wear down over the course of a day. Sometimes a tire will pop or explode causing the ride to seize operations. There is not much you can do to prevent that unless they cycle cara out during the day which would cause a downtime which in turn would cause people to complain. Downtimes will happen on any attraction.

Same thing happened to us on our honeymoon in December of 2019. We went from 60 mph to a sudden stop and were stuck sideways for 25 minutes before they found us. Got no compensation and I had horrible bruises all over my hip and shin.
Yawn. Happened to us two weeks Ago. Burning smell and at the seat belt check the car In front had to be moved to a separate maintenance track before we could pass. Not worried my brother in law is a mechanic and Chevy fan.
I HAD A HORRIBLE VISIT TO EPCOT IN 1986.. I WASN’T FEELING VERY WELCOME THERE AT ALL .. VERY RUDE PEOPLE WORKING IN THE U.K. PAVILION I WASN’T ALLOWED ANY BEVERAGE IN THEIR PUB..NOT FOR ANY BAD ATTITUDE OR BEHAVIOR ON MY PART , I GAVE NO PROBLEM TO ANYONE THROUGHOUT MY WHOLE VISIT FRIENDLY , POLITE AND WELL – BEHAVED THROUGH THE VISIT.., IT APPEARED I JUST WASN’T LIKED ENOUGH BY THE MAN AT THE DOOR..A SNOW CONE SELLER NEARBY WITNESSED THE WHOLE ENCOUNTER BETWEEN THE DOORMAN AND MYSELF .. I FELT LIKE A LEPER THE WAY THE DOORMAN TREATED ME .
I WENT TO BUY A SNOW ONE AFTER AND THE SNOW CONE GUY SAID HE SAW AND HEARD THE WHOLE THING AND HE WAS APPALLED AT THE DOORMAN’S TREATMENT OF ME
– OR SHOULD I REFER TO IT AS MISTREATMENT ?!….THE GIFT SHOP WORKERS WERE SNOBBY AND SNOTTY IN THEIR ATTITUDE TOWARDS ME ALSO.. WENT BY MYSELF AND HAD A ROTTEN EXPERIENCE .. ONE EIGHT HOUR PASS AND COULDN’T ENJOY IT AT ALL .. I WILL NEVER GO BACK . NOW WITH THEIR EVIL AGENDA ..THEY CAN ALL GO AWAY AND NEVER RETURN.. STOCK FALLING LIKE A STONE .. I WONT MISS ANY OF IT .. PERMANENT BOYCOTT OF ALL THINGS DISNEY.. FOREVER .

The smell is more then likely the friction of the breaks/tires bringing that heavy car to a quick/sudden stop.
