My family has passes and we attend multiple times a year when we are in the area. We were there when a teen fight broke out right in front of while I was there with my teen daughter. Blood was every where. Security and the police handled it quickly and swiftly. It did not leave my daughter or I traumatised. It was a teaching opportunity for me. We see sooo many parents dropping off teens in the morning before the change was implemented. It was free babysitting. I’m happy for this new rule. Sometimes I wish it included some young adults that haven’t grown up yet. I would also like to see Knotts go back to family environment and remove the alcohol from the park. They don’t monitor how many drinks a visitor is purchasing or use wristbands to show they have had their id checked.

While I think that Knots change in policy is goid, I would make one change! Do they really think that a 21 year old is going to control the behavior of a 17 year old? Most likely, the 21 year old will be acting out along with tye 17 year old. Perhaps Knots should consider increasing the age of the “chaperone” for teen ages to at least 25? Or ten years older than the teen? Or better yet…hold any “teenagers” who cause trouble legally responsible. Fines and court costs along with permanent banning and jail time should stop this nonsense!

If the day this all happened was the first time using the passes, I could see Knott’s possibly refunding them because of the overall climate of the park, even though it wasn’t Knott’s fault by any means.
However, in this case, the passes had been used previously, and you only need to go a couple of times to break even on Knott’s passes, so of course they will not refund the passes for something out of their control. Honestly it sounds like someone trying to get free Knott’s vacations for the year.

I use to visit Knotts Berry Farm lot’s and I miss going there. I was going there for vacation with my Mom and kids. I have Not been there since my Mom passed away about 8 years ago. We used to have a great time and love to get their famous fried chicken and Boysenberry Punch I guess that I would still go to visit the stores to now to just shop. To much is going on with them. Knotts Berry Farm used to be really good back in the day.
I agree with the no refund. They agreed to the terms when they purchased the season pass. I understand it was a horrific moment but business is still business. It wasn’t the parks fault for low lives to cause trauma in public. It bites it happened. But incidence like this can happen anywhere. Especially as of late since people are all for themselves and none for all. But it’s no different to purchasing a season pass at a golf course and you use it only once. You will not get a refund because you couldn’t go again the whole season. It doesn’t even makes sense that they wouldn’t refund. I bought 2 season pass tickets to busch gardens for my boyfriend and I. Then he and I broke up due to him becoming addicted to methamphetamine. No, we hadn’t been able to visit the park yet, but even if we’d gone once, I believe the park would’ve refunded me. When I told customer service I’d moved out of FL and to another state to leave this man, they were immediately willing to give me a refund. The Berry Farm place needs to do BETTER.
The difference was you hadn’t activated the passes. The passes are not worth anything until they are activated. Most parks will refund unused annual passes. The difference here is that these people used the passes multiple times before the incident, so there is no reason for Knott’s Berry Farm to refund the passes.
The other day I had a terrible meal at a chain restaurant. I am so traumatised, I may never be able to eat there again. It is alleged there was sounds of gunfire, outside of Knott’s Berry Farm in the parking lot area (no gunfire is confirmed to this day by Buena Park Police)
Yes there were violent and unruly young adults (unsupervised, too much for a minimal Security Staff to handle). This caused Knott’s Berry Farm to be shut down 3 hours ahead of regular closing + park guests to seek shelter from violence inside shops and restaurants + park guests fleeing (causing a stampede which injured many) + Buena Park Police was called (when they really should be present and Knott’s should let Police Officers in uniform roam freely inside the theme park).
You are not going to get a refund on your Knott’s Berry Farm Season Pass, but you can cancel it and not return if you don’t feel safe.
I applaud Knott’s Berry Farm for addressing the issue by announcing a “chaperone system” (those under the age of 18 must be accompanied by one adult 21 and over, the maximum one adult can bring in is 4 underage guests – adult must supervise the underage guests at all times + have an ID that matches the address of at least one of the under age guests + must have phone available and turned on at all times – any form of misconduct will result in immediate dismissal from the park and / or banned from the park – any illicit or legal activity will result in the arrest by Buena Park Police).
The only problem? Gang Members come in all ages (I agree with everyone who wants to file a lawsuit against these unruly teenager’s parents, but these same adults that are supposed to be chaperoning these teenagers could be Gang Members themselves!)
This situation isn’t questioning whether or not I will go back to Knott’s for Scary Farm, it’s the levels of covid and monkeypox cases (our family doesn’t want to catch anything!)
We will continue to support Knott’s Berry Farm, just as we continue to support that theme parks are for everyone – with the exception of those who are unruly, violent, breaking the law (you need to give cast members the authority to remove those causing the problem AND you need more than immediate actions by Security, you need Police Officers ready to respond immediately.
Sounds like a Karen, can and/or snowflake kind of complaint. There was reports of gunfire from people when it was actually backfire from a car on the street along the park.. There was 3 different incidents where there were fights in 3 different areas of the parks during 3 different times the evening it was closed down early. Read the fine print before you buy season passes people all cells are final. They cannot foresee the future and your fellow neighbor visiting the park.
I agree that the full refund of a season pass (as opposed to a one or two-visit ticket) is an unreasonable request; as the park pointed out, the guests had used their passes on multiple occasions already. Nonetheless, refusing any compensation is poor customer service. If the guests paid separately for that day’s parking, the company should refund that amount. Additionally, they should offer everyone affected by the events coupons for free food and drink at a later visit. A gesture like that would go a long way towards repairing ill will.

Contact the bank and ask for a refund. I’d probably look into a lawsuit for emotional distress and loss of enjoyment of life for your brother. This is why I don’t like small parks. And the issue wasn’t as big of a deal as some would make it seem. It was handled quickly, the park was closed and much of the fighting happened outside of the park. Knott’s sucks as a park as the whole, but it’s always had a “lower quality” than Disneyland (about 7 miles apart). I have always worried about my truck being broken into, since anyone can walk through the parking lots, and the “guests” have always been rude. We only go for Knott’s Scary Farm, which if you enjoy Halloween it’s more than worth one night. But if you have never been there, you really have no clue.

Although I must admit that in the recent couple of years , people have made this part what used to be a family-oriented Park into a ghetto type them park . Yes it’s very affordable. It was traumatic. Later we found out the shooting was outside. I know Knott’s tries very hard to protect the safety of their guests. Very decided to give Knott’s the benefit of the doubt and I’m glad we did. Knotts has had this problem since at least the 90’s. My husband was employed there and said there were always fights, one even landing on the hood of his car as he tried to leave the parking lot. My kids have returned from a day at Knotts multiple times with videos or stories of fights. Knotts doesn’t pay for the level of security that Disney does so it’s usually regular customers breaking up the fights and no one gets thrown out. Knotts is well aware of this problem, they just don’t have the financial means to do anything about it. Their whole idea of adults accompanying minors looks good on the surface but this has mostly been a gang problem and gangs have plenty of adults willing to come along. I feel for the family that has been traumatized and this is exactly why we decided not to renew our passes.

Knotts did the right thing by closing down early and instituting new procedures to be sure this didn’t happen again. Take the child to therapy. You used the passes – why should you go for free? While I think that Knots change in policy is goid, I would make one change! Do they really think that a 21 year old is going to control the behavior of a 17 year old? Most likely, the 21 year old will be acting out along with tye 17 year old. Perhaps Knots should consider increasing the age of the “chaperone” for teen ages to at least 25? Or ten years older than the teen? Or better yet…hold any “teenagers” who cause trouble legally responsible. Fines and court costs along with permanent banning and jail time should stop this nonsense!

My current beef is that I’m a 20 year old father of a family of three and due to the new chaperone. If the day this all happened was the first time using the passes, I could see Knott’s possibly refunding them because of the overall climate of the park, even though it wasn’t Knott’s fault by any means.
However, in this case, the passes had been used previously, and you only need to go a couple of times to break even on Knott’s passes, so of course they will not refund the passes for something out of their control. Honestly it sounds like someone trying to get free Knott’s vacations for the year.

I use to visit Knotts Berry Farm lot’s and I miss going there. I was going there for vacation with my Mom and kids. I have Not been there since my Mom passed away about 8 years ago. We used to have a great time and love to get their famous fried chicken and Boysenberry Punch I guess that I would still go to visit the stores to now to just shop. To much is going on with them. Knotts Berry Farm used to be really good back in the day.

I agree with the no refund. They agreed to the terms when they purchased the season pass. I understand it was a horrific moment but business is still business. It wasn’t the parks fault for low lives to cause trauma in public. It bites it happened. But incidence like this can happen anywhere. Especially as of late since people are all for themselves and none for all. But it’s no different to purchasing a season pass at a golf course and you use it only once. You will not get a refund because you couldn’t go again the whole season. The difference here is that these people used the passes multiple times before the incident, so there is no reason for Knott’s Berry Farm to refund the passes.

It is alleged there was sounds of gunfire, outside of Knott’s Berry Farm in the parking lot area (no gunfire is confirmed to this day by Buena Park Police)
Yes there were violent and unruly young adults (unsupervised, too much for a minimal Security Staff to handle). This caused Knott’s Berry Farm to be shut down 3 hours ahead of regular closing + park guests to seek shelter from violence inside shops and restaurants + park guests fleeing (causing a stampede which injured many) + Buena Park Police was called (when they really should be present and Knott’s should let Police Officers in uniform roam freely inside the theme park).
You are not going to get a refund on your Knott’s Berry Farm Season Pass, but you can cancel it and not return if you don’t feel safe.
I applaud Knott’s Berry Farm for addressing the issue by announcing a “chaperone system” (those under the age of 18 must be accompanied by one adult 21 and over, the maximum one adult can bring in is 4 underage guests – adult must supervise the underage guests at all times + have an ID that matches the address of at least one of the under age guests + must have phone available and turned on at all times – any form of misconduct will result in immediate dismissal from the park and / or banned from the park – any illicit or legal activity will result in the arrest by Buena Park Police).
The only problem? Gang Members come in all ages (I agree with everyone who wants to file a lawsuit against these unruly teenager’s parents, but these same adults that are supposed to be chaperoning these teenagers could be Gang Members themselves!)
This situation isn’t questioning whether or not I will go back to Knott’s for Scary Farm, it’s the levels of covid and monkeypox cases (our family doesn’t want to catch anything!)
We will continue to support Knott’s Berry Farm, just as we continue to support that theme parks are for everyone – with the exception of those who are unruly, violent, breaking the law (you need to give cast members the authority to remove those causing the problem AND you need more than immediate actions by Security, you need Police Officers ready to respond immediately.

There was 3 different incidents where there were fights in 3 different areas of the parks during 3 different times the evening it was closed down early. I agree that the full refund of a season pass (as opposed to a one or two-visit ticket) is an unreasonable request; as the park pointed out, the guests had used their passes on multiple occasions already. Nonetheless, refusing any compensation is poor customer service. If the guests paid separately for that day’s parking, the company should refund that amount. Additionally, they should offer everyone affected by the events coupons for free food and drink at a later visit. A gesture like that would go a long way towards repairing ill will.

Anyways! Back to the topic; if Knott’s had refunded them, even just a single day ticket instead of the year long pass, then they would’ve had to refund everyone’s tickets for that day. It sucks, for sure, but that is part of the ToS. I absolutely LOVE the chaperone rule, and Im hoping they do something similar for scary farm this year!
I hope the memory and trauma from this fade quickly for all who experienced it.

And the issue wasn’t as big of a deal as some would make it seem. It was handled quickly, the park was closed and much of the fighting happened outside of the park. Knott’s sucks as a park as the whole, but it’s always had a “lower quality” than Disneyland (about 7 miles apart). I have always worried about my truck being broken into, since anyone can walk through the parking lots, and the “guests” have always been rude. We only go for Knott’s Scary Farm, which if you enjoy Halloween it’s more than worth one night. But if you have never been there, you really have no clue.

Although I must admit that in the recent couple of years , people have made this part what used to be a family-oriented Park into a ghetto type them park . Yes it’s very affordable. And that’s what drives in the wrong type of people to this park which is unfortunate. I still renew my pass although last year we had a horrific experience where we thought there was an active shooting in the park everyone inside panicked all chaos broke loose in process my 8-year-old daughter was traumatized, we lost my husband people were getting trampled on.. there were cups bags purses food stuffed animals anything you can think of on the ground. It was traumatic. Later we found out the shooting was outside. I know Knott’s tries very hard to protect the safety of their guests. Very decided to give Knott’s the benefit of the doubt and I’m glad we did. Without them putting this chaperone policy into place it wouldn’t have seemed like they’re trying to get a head of the situation. Please people don’t send your trouble making, ex convicts kids to the park. This is a park for families. Little kids should not be exposed to such violence. Keep that at home. For the rest of us if you see something say something. Knott’s can only do so much.

Knotts has had this problem since at least the 90’s. My husband was employed there and said there were always fights, one even landing on the hood of his car as he tried to leave the parking lot. My kids have returned from a day at Knotts multiple times with videos or stories of fights. Knotts doesn’t pay for the level of security that Disney does so it’s usually regular customers breaking up the fights and no one gets thrown out. Knotts is well aware of this problem, they just don’t have the financial means to do anything about it. Their whole idea of adults accompanying minors looks good on the surface but this has mostly been a gang problem and gangs have plenty of adults willing to come along. I feel for the family that has been traumatized and this is exactly why we decided not to renew our passes.
