Was on this ride a few months ago and the line stopped for at least half an hour because someone thew up. I cant imagine the cleanup in there after someone is puking repeatedly while spinning around through the whole ride. It must get everywhere, on the mechanicals and all too. I’ll bet those cleanup crews have some stories.
This is my biggest nightmare, and its my favourite ride. I have such a phobia of vomit, if this happened to me it would ruin my entire day, possibly whole trip and that ride for me forever. I can never understand why people who are prone to being physically sick would go on a ride like this, can’t imagine it being fun for them either.
The only ride that made me motion sick at universal was The Simpsons ride. To this day I can’t stand that they replaced the back to the Future ride with it.
I get motion sickness so out of respect for myself and others, I never go on these rides. SHAME on those who know they get sick yet still go on these rides
The reason they go on that ride, is because they literally have no idea how bad it truly is. I get motion sick too, and was told by a family member how bad it was before we even went to Orlando. So my friend and I took a medication that helps with nausea, waited a good amount of time and then asked how bad it was motioning wise to the employee at the front and they said “it’s not too bad”. Even after taking that medication, I was dying. I felt so sick and made it through without vomiting, but if you don’t know, and the employee isn’t telling you people literally throw up in the second room….that’s why they go on the ride.
Never had this personally happen to me, but was almost the puker in question at a local theme park – friend of mine decided to drag me on a spinning coaster when I had been drinking tons of water due to it being the hottest day of the year. Once it was over, I looked over at him and told him, point blank, that he needed to move his ass or I was going to puke on him. Ended up retching into a nearby trash can, thankfully.
As a 12 year employee, I am shocked an employee didn’t make sure this guest was squared away with non-pukey wardrobe (guest recovery, they call it). Employees do have that ability, within a certain price range.
Same ride, it was fairly new. Was waiting in the baby swap are. Aan was escorted off covered head to toe in vomit, dripping it as he walked, shaking, held up by 2 men who helped run the ride. The smell, will never forget, awful. All of us waiting with babies left immediately.
What a awful experience, you handled. It like a trooper though, I was puked on a ride when I was young, horrible experience, surprisingly they didn’t clean you and any other guest first with all the viruses etc. around, I fear this every time I get on a roller coaster
When will people learn to NOT eat and/or drink before getting on a ride that warns them that the ride can cause motion sickness. But then again common sense seems to have been the first causality of the Covid pandemic
Yes one time I went to universal Orlando and it was dead. I went on the mummy like 10 times in a row because it was slow that day. The last ride, I get off and there is puke all over the entire exit of the ride. It smelled so badly, I almost puked. Then I saw a person just randomly puking all over in the room to the exit of the ride. I almost was so mad that this person decided to go on this ride when they must know they get motion sickness. If I got motion sickness, I would not go on a ride like that. It selfish disgusting and disrespectful .
DONT RIDE IF YOU HAVE MOTION SICKNESS, plain and simple! After that I did not ride it again until my next visit
My kids love this ride. As their parents, my wife and I do not. Last time I rode I got the sweats about halfway through and just kept thinking “don’t puke. Don’t puke.” And breathed in and out and tried to focus on ANYTHING offscreen or grounded. Hands down the most motion sickness inducing ride at that park.
Absolute nonsense, sounds like maybe your should learn how the English language works first yourself. Simply using the term “guest”, which is common in theme park language, then *directly quoting someone else* and their choice of pronouns doesn’t remotely equate to what you are accusing them of. Please go find something else to do with your life other than unnecessarily flaming culture wars.
@Sally Anderson
Not sure what ‘woke’ pronouns he used that made this article by Dammann difficult to read? Please identify for the rest of the readers where you believe these attempts to change the English language were made so we can become as outraged as you, or at least have a laugh at your expense.
I rode this ride for the first time about a month ago. I asked a friend about it, her knowing how I get with motion sickness, and she made it seem not so bad. I had ridden every other motion simulator ride with no real problem. I knew almost immediately this one was different. I closed my eyes, breathed as slowly as I could through my mouth and prayed I would make it through. Thankfully I did, but I had to sit outside for about 15 minutes before I felt ok enough to keep moving again.
I test ride new rides for my Mother to see how bad they are or if she will enjoy them. Went on Epcot’s Mission to Mars. Big mistake. Felt like someone was pushing my stomach in towards my spine. Had to concentrate 100% with every fibre of my being to not throw up, keeping my eyes open( as they had suggested), was not an option. My Mother said I had never looked worse and was actually green in the face. Took me nearly 1 hour to recover, sitting quietly on a bench with Mummy frantically waving a fan in my face. Sometimes, you just don’t know how bad its going to be. I feel very sorry for whoever gets puked on, but if the rides get more and more outrageous, its going to happen more and more. I dont think many people throw up on the PeopleMover or ET ride.
If you puke on a ride and it gets on anyone it should have consequences. Anyone affected should be able to punch you in the face. New clothes for affected patrons should be paid for by the offender as well. Couple of those Ruby passes from the park would be nice too.
This is the only ride at Universal that makes me motion sick at all. I still ride it, but I close my eyes whenever it’s one of the screens that that keeps my stomach in check. Never puked on it, but I’d rather not feel nauseous for the next hour
Jesus universal made u wait in a chair while the man/family that caused it got cleaned up and they didn’t replace ur clothes with something that fit the amount of money u pay for these ticket and how rich universal had gotten off ppl u think they would treat there customers better I’d look into laying down a lawsuit if it happened to me
I’d be throwing hands tbh if I had to sit in someone else’s vomit for more than 2 minutes. It’s so unsanitary and I already have a phobia of filth… I would demand a whole new fit, I don’t care how expensive and overpriced their merch is. They’re getting the invoice for their overpriced clothing, pants and all. Everything that was covered in vomit, is being replaced and universal better cover the costs for them and for my items. They can afford it with their ticket costs.

Unfortunately you’re right. They could have signs with spotlights yet it would still go over people’s heads.

Dear Mr Dammann,
Your use of woke pronouns mixed in with other’s use of normal ones makes for a confusing read.
Your attempts to change the English language will fail.
