  1. They should only allow hands free cameras (like GoPro) on this ride. It goes up to 76 miles an hour, no matter how good someone is at holding their iPhone it’s easy to lose control at that speed. I hope the injuries heal soon.

All theme park rides should be like Velocicoaster, Hulk, and Rip Ride Rock It. Nothing in your pockets!

      1. Metal detectors need to be installed like at rip ride rocket.

      2. Steve

Sure, punish everyone, slow the line down… how about we ban the offenders instead. You can be sure this isn’t the only rule they are breaking.

  2. Jackie

Metal detectors and free short term lockers should be installed for all of the intense rides. People can’t be trusted to do as they are instructed.

Free short term lockers? Yes that’s actually a good idea. I was going to say, I normally leave my phone in my zipped-up pocket on a ride because I don’t trust people not to steal it. However if I could not bring on the ride full stop knowing it’s totally safe, I definitely would do that

The Gwazi has zipper pouches under every seat for phones and such. People are just selfish, there is no excuse.

Not supposed to have ANY carry-ons on roller coasters! If it was her phone, no sympathy. However, if another riders phone, I feel bad for her and hope she’s okay.

    1. Mangiafica

      Obviously it wasn’t her phone

  4. David

Me and my daughter saw that happen last Thursday but the girl actually caught her phone and we spoke they should not allow anything and less then a week after going on that ride it actually happen. Hope the girl is ok and yes any coasters should not allow anything on…

For decades this hasn’t been a problem. Now it is one because of the “me” mindset.

There are cubbies to place your personal items and retrieve after the ride…a great system that should be enforced.

NO DETECTORS! How about personal liability against the person not complying and losing the phone?

Enough with the loss of liberties everywhere! Let’s take some personal responsibility!

    1. Jason

      I agree!

    2. Steve

I agree, detectors are a hassle for everyone. Lifetime bans with no exceptions and no reviews are the proper solution. That and felony charges should someone be injured.

  6. Kelly

This is exactly why Cedar Point has a ZERO tolerance policy of no cell phones on roller coasters. If you’re caught with your phone (which they WILL catch you every time!) the ride is stopped, the phone is taken and the guest is automatically removed the park with no refund. No nothing!

  7. Trent

There should be stiff penalties for this. There is no excuse, especially on Gwazi which has zipper pouches under every seat to store your belongings.

  8. Steve

Assault charges should be pressed. Anyone with a phone out should receive a lifetime ban.

I hope you don’t get paid to write these articles. Poorly written, as well as the fact that you copied and pasted parts of another Iron Gwazi article into this one. Talk about lazy.
