  1. It seems like Disney is letting all of the old rides go without maintenance so they can create their rides with screens. Eventually it will all be screens and no animatronics, probably because it’s cheaper to maintain.

That is why they just built 2 Rise of the Resistance attractions with over 100 animatronics in each?

      1. Smlwoman

And some of the most amazingly real animatronics ever! The one on millennium falcon is amazing!

    2. J.C.

No, animateonics will go down. They’re made up of motors and moving parts, it’s going to happen.

It was a show intrusion. Likely someone reached too far out of their shell or something tripped the Infrared curtain in the scene. They went down shortly after because that’s a failure of a major show scene. Nothing was “broken”. Seriously, hire real writers who understand ride ops, and guests, quit calling stuff broken because it isn’t perfect. Show intrusions happen so no one gets hurt on a moving figure or the figure doesn’t hurt itself if something is wrong

Didn’t Ursula’s head fall off a year or two ago? I hope her song continued while that was happening.

    1. And who cares…it happens and will continue to happen- can you be a little more dramatic!

We were just there for our honeymoon and yes, the ride did go down for a while. It wasn’t a tragedy. It was from heat. It was not just hot but unusually humid in SoCal and it can cause overheating issues. The heat was causing problems for rides at theme parks nationwide all summer…its not “just Disney” that has had rides shut down from excessive heat (until everything cools off then they are back up).

This is ridiculous. The artistry that goes into those pieces is absolutely incredible. 30 years ago we would have been thrilled to have such a beautiful scene regardless of the actions of any animatronics.
Plus the line usually is about 5 minutes long, so revisit it later! Duh!

We had 4 generations at Disneyland and California Adventure Park this summer and it was amazing. We are already making plans to go back!

Just went in July and went through Radiator Springs Racers with no audio from any of the characters. Also, DCA isn’t a resort, it’s Disneyland’s other park.

The whole thing all together with both parks is called the Disneyland Resort.

Let’s also get the park right…. It was MK at Disney World. Do you guys even check the facts from these tips before publishing?

At least the guests didn’t have the ride shutdown and do an evacuation. On the Little Mermaid ride, Cast Members will start releasing guests from their cars one at a time, starting at the point furthest from the loading area. It was frustrating to sit there for 20 minutes watching a stream of guest walk by locked cars before getting released. While I understand the reasoning, it just adds the frustration. But, I still ride the ride and enjoy it. I’ve been stuck on the ride IN PLACE for 15 minutes and while it’s not as bad as listening to “It’s a Small World” over and over again, it’s bad. They should have cut the audio…

    1. Dawn

But why get frustrated? You know the reasoning, so just sit back and relax until the car is unlocked. We have broken down on Small World (45 minutes and audio stayed on), Pirates (right under the “Dead Men Tell No Tales” part, 40 minutes with audio), Pinocchio (where the cages are)… among others. The Pinocchio time was great, I enjoyed being walked out and being able to look at the deco/characters for a bit longer than a passing glance.

        Exactly!

  10. why is this news?

  11. Jake

Could be worse. I got stuck in there for 15 minutes with them moving but my buggy was not. The under the sea room is problematic because it’s so loud.
