Hell yes, I am an 80s kid and started visiting the park in the 80s and the people mover even there was not a top-tier ride was still special to me. And it was a handful of years till I got back in 2000, the rocket rods we’re not there when I went back because they were only open from 96 to 98, but I think putting the rocket rods there in their place of the people mover was a horrible mistake they should have cut kept the people over there all along, because the people mover is a staple of Disneyland and Tomorrowland. I pray that they will put the people mover back up
I wouldn’t get my hopes up on the People Mover at Disneyland. I would expect complete removal during the refurb. The reason is for several things. First, it will require a whole new vehicle system as the old ones are gone. 2. When has Disney ever brought back something that was popular when they removed it? Finally and probably the most important reason. From Engineering reports that I have seen on this ride it is structurally unstable. When they put in the Rocket Rods, no one considered the extra wait and forces that those vehicles would put on the track. There are structural cracks in the track and some of the support beams that would all have to be torn down and completely rebuilt. So in order for the track to be smooth the entire track and supports would need to be completely removed and replaced. That would be a lot of money that the current heads of Disney wouldn’t take on because they don’t get the ROI of these non-IP attractions. They will replace it with nothing and put in an IP pushcart or two.
