I’m 45 years old and I stand 6′ 2″ tall weighing in at 200 pounds. Looking at this photo alone I see a few people that look a little overweight with a puggy belly love handles and a bowling ball for a figure. I think Disney needs to figure out a way to figure in a skill system of some type for those who don’t want to stay fit and healthy as I see many people who look older than me out of shape every dis every Disney park I visit.

sorry used ralk to text. Disney needs to figure our how to figure in a scale^^^

In 1995 the same thing happened to my family at Disney World. We were a group of eight. There were already two other families on the boat they put all of us on. In fact, I didn’t even get on because of no room. So I waited on the bridge to get a picture of my family as they were finishing the ride. They didn’t come out. The boat had dragged so low, the plug on the bottom (taken out at night to drain the water) had popped out and the boat took on water and did sink! My nephew (10 at the time) started saying “we are going to die listening to this stupid, stupid song”.

You grow dank thanks for your input I’m sure just because someone is over weight they don’t need to be reminded of this fact every one deserves to ride this ride wether they ar over weight big or small Disney’s rides are usually kept in excellent working order your comment about over weight there are alot of us out there being one myself Lol.

      1. Thiccdicc

No they do need to be reminded every day that they are killing themselves. Being overweight is more deadly than being a smoker. If you’re fat you don’t get to force people to lie to you and tell you what you are doing is ok. It’s not. Get in shape, or your kids are going to have to bury you way too young. Have some self respect.

I’m pretty sure the weight limit for its a small world boat ride is small!

  3. Erwim

Before you get on the ride they should check your height and weight. And a free gym membership at one of thier hotels!

    1. NotdeadDredd2

Some of those people do look a bit titanic proportionally.

You don’t have to be a jerk about it. Overweight people don’t want to be reminded that they are overweight. So you don’t have to go to the comments and call them the titanic.

  4. When It’s A Small World was installed at Disney theme parks, the average weight of an adult in this country was175 pounds for a male and 135 pounds for a female. When the boats get too heavy they tend to drag along the bottom and get stuck, which could be the cause of the partial sinking shown. Disney revamped the ride a number of years ago for heavier guests, but the boats still do bottom out from time to time.

One of the great things about Disney theme parks is that they don’t discriminate against guests who are larger than they should be. That is why people flock to Disney, many of whom are too heavy to ride rides at other theme parks. When we had annual passes I was 375 pounds due to a genetic disorder and other problems even when I ate like a bird and got plenty of exercise. Not everyone who is large is large by choice. Just keep that in mind the next time you are criticizing someone who is overweight or making fun of them in comments online.

    1. Its an old ride! Its Disney’s responsibility to keep their rides up to date, working correctly, ect. With the prices they charge, they definitely have the money to do it! I can’t believe the idiots comenting above blaming it on the riders/customers!! If that was the problem, then wouldn’t you think they would have devided the riders to equal out the weight ?
That too is on Disney! I can’t believe you have so much time that you sit and study a short little video long enough that you find things to judge people by! You need a life!! You have no idea what may be going on with these people! I could care less what your height and weight is but you felt the need to say it in the comments. Normally I would just roll my eyes and keep on scrolling. That was until you decided you are perfect and have the right to judge others! GROW THE HELL UP, KEEP YOUR BS TO YOURSELF!! YOU SIRS ARE PART OF THE REASON OUR WORLD IS THE WAY IT IS!!

      1. JMR

Thank you! People who are so judgemental are usually not so perfect themselves!

      2. WAVJR

        Easy fatty calm down

      3. LouigiAnne

Thank you for sharing your opinion which is just the same as mine. Glad I didn’t have to type it all out lol

    2. Jennie

      Agree 100%

Of course, and even if it is from over eating, that is not for Disney to say. They should however be aware enough to know that if it is assumed or determined that there might be too much weight in an individual boat, then the cast member in charge needs to break that weight up. Either putting a larger family in their own boat or if need be breaking that party up.

    4. James

Genetic disorder my ass. Being lazy is not genetic and you’re ‘eating like a bird’ is more like eating like an elephant compared to others. Been to the Third World? I have. Funny how there are no 375 lb genetic disorders there. People are thin because they dont have the luxury to be lazy snd they cant afford to overeat. Tired of our society being wrecked because you people dont have self control.

For people with anxiety disorders or affective disorders, and other mental illnesses an event like this may cause a lot of undo harm to them. These parks make millions of dollars annually, they should have every ride equipped with a quick exit for their guests. Nor to mention other health issues, Diabetes, HTN, cardiovascular disease, seizures, asthma. I’m getting a little tired of hearing about people being treated like animals.

    1. Ryan

Undo harm? What? They are in a boat in about 1 foot of water!! How does that cause anxiety and harm? Wow. You are special! this is NOT harmful when I am able to stand in water that is up to my calfs!! They could have easily gottn out of the boat and gotten to the nearest walkway which are all over the place!! Don’t you pay attention to these rides? There are walkways and exits all over!! This is NOT a traumatic situation in the least little bit! And how is Disney responsible for knowing what health issues people have? They don’t know I have high blood pressure. They don’t know abut my heat stroke unless I tell them so I can get my DAS pass. Why are you blaming Disney for this when these people could have done something like, oh I don’t know, exit the boat themselves? I doubt they were there for an hour. This is another case of people not trying to be responsible. I mean if a building is on fire are you going to wait for the fire department to come and tell you to get out? No, you are going to get out and go. The water on this ride is SHALLOW!! You can’t drown!

      1. JMR

Everytime someone cries about being “stuck” for an hour I laugh. This is because the radio personality Rita Wilde rode the ride for FOUR hours as part of a bet with Mark & Brian. So cry and whine all you want people. You have nothing on Rita’s experience!!

      2. James

When I was in the military i was taught by a mentor of mine that your duty as a decent person is to maintain yourself physically most of all, but also mentally so that when stuff goes down you are the one rescuing people not needing to be rescued. These fat asses werent going to be wading or clambering to get out, they were too weak.

  6. Bonita

I am sorry this happened to these folks, but if it had been me I would have gotten out and walked or swam to the nearest exit. After an hour or more stuck listening to that song, they would have had to take out in a straight jacket because I would have been a babbling idiot by then! They could use that tactic for an integration tool, two hours of listening to the song and watching the dolls move could get anybody to tell everything they know or confess to anything just to get out of there, LOL!

  7. Artex

I saw the same thing at the start of its a small world back in May. A very large family grounded the boat and were stuck for well over an hour.

  8. Lanne

It’s incredibly unkind to make judgement calls based on a person’s outward appearance. After all Disney is all about welcoming everybody just the way they are. Perhaps you need some extra pixie dust in your life. BTW rides break down all the time. Common sense should tell you that it was about maintenance not weight.

  9. Paul W

Sounds to me like the ride is due for a full refurbishment. If it can be done on Pirates of the Carribbean, it can be done on Small World too.

What is the record for ads placed between each post?

Disney let’s rides go now. In September the Winnie the Pooh ride stopped. They turned on the lights and said it would move momentarily. 45 minutes later we are still stuck in our seats. When I said I was leaving with my son, a cast member told me I wasn’t allowed and she would call security. Bad enough the cost, but wasting my time being stuck was ridiculous. I got out anyway and was chased down and asked for my name. I had to ask for a pass for another ride and was given one. My friends who stayed seated another half hour was given 1 pass as well. No apology, it’s like it’s completely normal for that to happen. Why people are debating about weight is beyond me. If someone is overweight then the cast member needs to make a decision on what is too much weight. Weight or not, Disney rides have been breaking down more than ever because Chapek doesn’t want to pay for maintenance in the parks.

Those little boats cruising at walking speed in a foot of water have their limits. I feel bad for those who get stuck but am shocked at some of the comments I read regarding overweight people. Having a serious immune deficiency, I am periodically prescribed high doses of a medication that causes weight gain. During those times I am miserable and self conscious about my weight. After treatment, I work hard to get my weight down. I didn’t realize I was offending people . Next time I have to go through that hell, I will stay my fat ass home son’s not to offend the body shaming bullies. It’s sad that there are people who have nothing better to do than walk around feeling superior.
