How am I supposed to care when Disney is happy to destroy their own property?

Those having no respect for property and cast members are what is wrong with the parks, not the parks themselves. Guests no longer know how to behave in public.

      100% agree!

Current toy story mania cast member here. Honestly could not care less out of one rotation in glasses(45 min) I may see one pair bent that way. And since we damage out between 80-110 pairs of damaged glasses on a day (much more likely to be warped lenses or a broken arm) having a kid be able to ride the attraction more enjoyably means more to me. We do not care about are glasses that way. Now I am more likely to advise just pressing in on the arms as compared to bending them the way shown if people ask me about kids glasses but generally this has such little impact on us.

While I understand what you are saying, a TIK TOK trend could potentially cause an increase in daily damaged glasses. The extra money has to come from somewhere and probably out of the guests pocket with increase ticket prices and in turn could delay any potential wage increase for cast members.

if you’re gonna say you don’t care, then guess what you’re not getting a raise anytime soon as the costs to replace those glasses will easily come out of money that could have very easily come to you in the form of a raise

You act like Disney doesn’t pocket every single cent they can at present time.

Saying I’m not gonna get a raise based on glasses being bent is adorable. I get what you’re saying on bottom line kinda stuff. But these glasses are cycled through regularly as it is. They’re not long term long use. With the cleaning process we use on them as it is the lenses don’t last long term and those are a much more major factor than a couple of bent arms. Disneys focus has been on guest experience and that’s how we’ve gotten to where we are in the industry. Most cast members at mania if given the time see a kid struggling to wear glasses we will show the guests a slight bend in the arms to make the kid have a better experience.

Things like this is are why costs are so high at Disney. Guess what, when you visitors want to be disrespectful and break or destroy things with the thought that ‘Disney has money they can afford it’, you’re not ‘sticking it to the man’ like you think you are. Costs get passed along to visitors indirectly. Yes the market over the years has dictated price increases because of supply and demand, etc, but guess what, when visitors want to damage or destroy things within the park, that cost is also factored into the prices of getting into the park so in the long run, we’re all paying because some clown felt it was ok to damage or break something that belonged to Disney so that they could ‘stick it to the man’. Most people would deny this, but it is what actually happens when the number crunchers get involved

    1. So true. I can’t figure out what happened to the United States. What’s wrong with people anymore?

        Social media. That’s whats wrong.

          100% agree

Would she appreciate someone coming into her place of business and (example:) breaking off hanger ends because the baby clothes fit better on the shorter hangers? Or cutting of part of a design because it fits their thinking better? Common sense is no longer common this is so sad!

Inteesting if the galsses are cleaned as well as they claim then this wouldn’t be an isssue as the heat from proper cleaning would allow for them to be bent back to original shape. Cost, these do not cost Disney very much to begin with. How do I know, simple, when i buy safety glasses for the worksite I can buy safety glasses at $1 a pair for cheap ones in bulk. The 3D glasses that are used at Disney are made just like plastic forks and knives. My guess is that they cost Disney somewhere in the 25 to 50 cent range. So if they throw 1000 pair a day away that is $250 to $500 a day. Now that may seem like a lot to people but lets put that into perspective. Disney world averages about 25 million dollars a day. So is $500 a day even noticeable, By the way that is 182,500 annual and if we go with $1 per pair then we are looking at 365,000 dollars a year with a revenue of 7.8 billion. Get off your high horses and start asking why it costs $50 for a stuffed toy that cast $2 to make. It probably cost 5 dollars to get it made and put on the shelf and then into your hands. Most people don’t understand that costs of doing business and start saying things while having no clue what they are talking about. So everyone still think that Chapek is a wonderful person?

You are so RIGHT! These glasses are so flimsy that it is impossible to believe they are correctly cleaned and sterilized after each use. They wouldn’t hold up to being properly cleaned. I would bet that there are more glasses destroyed in cleaning than by clients…

      1. Geoff

Can verify we send out the dirty glasses every night to be cleaned. If y’all pay attention to the lenses on the glasses youll notice a lot of them are warped that comes from the cleaning process. The arms on these glasses are cheap and can be snapped off very easily.

For as much as disney costs, they should be given out new for every person.

  8. No , I don’ t think it’s acceptable to destroy anyone else’s property. The hack that really made me angry was the person that let part of her breast exposed because she knew that Disney would ” give ” her a free tee shirt. Then she said she wanted a spirit jersey instead of a tee shirt. She complained to management that she should have the spirit jersey and she indeed got it. This despicable girl then went on you tube to brag about it and put a comment on how cute she liked in the spirit jersey. How can anyone be that low .

I think these so called influencers are just laughable and the people that follower any of them are just sad.
