The renovation and updating projects are really quite dissatisfying as they all end up looking like Medical offices.
The Old Key West Resort is a great case in point. They ripped out the beautiful green marble counters and replaced them with individual “ Work stations.”
The gorgeous wood floors and woodwork replaced by industrial flooring and the bookcases painted. Honestly? It looks nothing like what one would see in Key West lest you were staying at a modern motel.
As an artist who has done work for Disney, the color palette and style being used is very bland, one that is artistically in the middle of the road so to speak.
What once was a very immersive experience beginning at check in has now become an artistic safe space, neither appealing to, or offensive to no one. Pity.
The Floridian is not so “grand “ without the band. Bring back the Grand Floridian Society Orchestra! They made the atmosphere special and the lobby is just not the same without them.

How can you make a mistake like that? Only Contemporary and Polynesian Resorts were there in 1971 when WDW first opened.
