Chapek took the reins at a very bad time, but since America bagan its recovery Chapek has made one bad decision after another and has virtually destroyed a once magical experience. The release of the video depicting the board members spouting their agendas should have been enough to have them removed but Chapek doubled down on Disney’s political and social agenda which was unpopular with longtime Disney loyalists. Add to that the price increases, park reservation processes, Genie+, Lightning lane fees, magic band fees for hotel guests, loss of airport transportation, and just the seemingly endless loss of perks and add-on fees and you have what amounts to an across the board money grab with little regard for guests. Bob Iger and Michael Isner seemed to understand the vision of Walt Disney, Mr. Chapek is strictly a bean counter with no vision and no imagination.
So true your post.
Parks are crowded.
Costs are up on food, smaller portions.
Parks are not as clean as they used to be. (WDW 2022 Feb)
The system of Genie+ and trying to book rides and schedule eating, is a chore in itself.
Even though Covid had its issue, the Disney Magic is disappearing for the people who remember the post Covid Disney.
Vacation spot is to relax, enjoy, wind down. So far from the truth at Walt Disney World today.
Everyday planning, is nothing in comparison to planning a Disney Vacation.
When we booked our Hotels this year, we did 2 hotels in 10 days on the property. The French Quarter was about 187 a night, todays prices Garden View $283+ on the Disney Site.
As stated the past CEO’s of Disney, were in the Magic. They frequented the parks. The money will flow when the experience is worth it. All great organizations, will fall at some time, if they do not continue to evolve, and offer customers a great and reasonable cost to experience the parks, Disney+ streaming.
Stop building Hotels at WDW, unless you make at least 2 more parks onsite to keep the current flow of visitors at a reasonable capacity to enjoy the parks.
Limit the amount of tickets you sell!
In the 70’s throughout the mid 2000’s, you could buy a ticket at the entrance, and if you were early, maybe 300 people were at park opening waiting in line. Last trip the lines were starting 2 hours before opening and this is off season, with rain!
Get a new CEO who really cares about the Walt vision. Family style park.
I agree with William. Chapek seems to want to know a families financial breaking point and since hearing that my beloved DCA hotel is now $800. a night plus taxes I know I have reached mine. First I gave up the passes. Now I’ve given up the Disney dream. I can go anywhere else in America for a fraction of what Disney wants. The camels back is officially broken.
Mr. William is definitely right. What’s crazy is how the employees have been directly effected. They have no family life.. Disney slaves, and severely underpaid for what they do especially the supply chain teams , custodial, maintenance, and house keeping. Cast members have told me they are at risk of loosing their jobs frequently due to Disney not abiding by its cast members availability as they quote “per company needs” and get scheduled outside their availability and must use available sick time to cover themselves. That’s disgusting to me and I’m ashamed such a magical company would do such a thing. No wonder cast members are so sour sometimes… it’s probably their 9th day straight, which I hear Disney gets away with because they conveniently schedule their cast in between two pay periods. That’s appalling. Under paid and over worked and unheard cast. Shame on you Disney!
I have to admit, I am surprised at Paycheck’s disregard of guests opinions and desires. He was in charge of the parks for years and this is where he wants to takes loyal guests? A year from now, after all the hoopla of the 50th is done, the board will make Paycheck a sacrificial lamb only to replace him with someone much worse. Remember, Paycheck still has to answer to the board and shareholders. In any event, the magic candle is flickering, with a strong gust coming.
Yes, Bob Chapek’s customer-last philosophy definitely distances him from Iger, Eisner and the others before them that made Disney what it is. Chapek is riding their coat tails while eroding the magic they built.
Agree with William. In fact, we are waiting to activate our season passes once Chapek is out of there. Too many of our friends have complained that the parks have lost their magic and feels like going to Six Flags now.
I think you will be waiting a literal eternity. Disney is waiting until there is an undeniable effect on their bottom line, then they will fire Paycheck (the sacrificial lamb… or is it scapegoat?) and step back an inch from too far.
They aren’t even close to that as it is. The parks are packed with clueless foreigners, Ukrainian “refugees” getting freebies, and wokesters only there so they can make a point by feeling each other up in front of kids. It will have to get a lot worse for any of those groups to stop going.
And yes, I know they are called ANNUAL passes. In fact, Disney has taken away some of the benefits of having one. The most noticible, no longer getting the memory maker/ photopass or getting to participate in magic hours without staying at a Disney Resort Hotel.

Iger was bad, so Paycheck has to be horrible.
