I really hope they bring that back. Back to the Future, ET, Jaws, King Kong, Earthquake, Jurassic Park, and Spiderman were my favorite rides. To be honest, I go to Disney every year, but haven’t been to Universal recently because it is too expensive to do both. If they are considering bringing back some of the old rides, I think I may stay at Universal and skip Disney 😉
Your list is terrific. Over the years we have loved those rides!! Twister, jaws, king Kong, earthquake. Bring back those very fun rides, and maybe us old folks might come back!!
I think one thing that keeps people going to Disney is that they can experience all the rides they rode as a kid with their children and unfortunately, universal only has one original ride left – E.T. which as a first time universal goer this year I thought was one of.the best rides in the park. I think the return of Jaws and BTTF would be a huge boost for them because so many people grew up with those rides and loved those rides…great movies that are timeless should have a timeless ride to represent their huge fan bases. I mean Jaws and BTTF were the Harry Potter of the 1970/80s generation and people from that generation still love those films. I’m praying that Universal scraps the Simpsons (it’s cheesy and nauseating) and restores BTTF. Even if they keep Simpsons and bring back BTTF I’ll be overjoyed. Still hoping for a new Jaws in Epic Universe too!
But Disney is stuck in the past you have to move in to the future, wait until EPIC UNIVERSE open,s Disney will be a ghost Town, Disney is mostly for kid’s
Walt Disney World will never be a ghost town you’re crazy. Only the magic kingdom is mainly for kids the rest of the parks of alcohol drinks .Epcot is not for kids. Animal kingdom is not really for kids. Disney’s Hollywood Studios is partially for kids because of Toy story land
Ghostbusters makes more sense than BTTF. Don’t get me wrong, I liked BTTF but the ride wasn’t exceptional- in fact the digital track is the same for the Simpsons so it would just be a duplicate ride. Ghostbusters makes more sense because it’s an IP that is still churning out content to a new generation.
Universal needs to continue its focus on the future not the past. Those are old properties (I know there have been Ghostbusters movies but they live on nostalgia and probably don’t have a future).
Building on properties like Lord of the Rings, Nintendo (Hyrule Island – Legend if Zelda) and capitalizing Marvel popularity will lead to long term success for Universal.
Bring it to Universal Studio Hollywood. They need to incorporate add Back to Future Ride with the Studio tours….Same concept as King Kong and Fast Furious. Imagine going to the BTTF lot and experience time travel on the Studio tours next to clock tower.
I agree totally, Universal Hollywood is easily the best park if you are after a mix of nostalgia and new rides, I also miss the Terminator ride that was amazing.
I think it more likely the MIB ride would go through a re theme and become Ghostbusters. Although I would gladly welcome them getting rid of the God awful fast and furious ride and replace that with a back to the future adventure. That or Jimmy Fallon. Two of the lowest rated rides. I miss the Ghostbusters show.
Back to the future coming back would seal it for me, put it back where it was and get rid of the simpsons. It’s an annoying enough cartoon I can’t even bring myself to do the ride whereas back to the future was and still would be my favourite
I would be booking my trip to universal so fast if they bring back bttf it’s my husband and my 10 year old sons favorite movie my husband never got the chance to ride it, the thing about bttf is that its timeless that movie never goes out of date its classic all age groups love it and universal made a mistake getting rid of it
I’m a UOAP holder and every time my partner and I go we talk about how we miss the old days… Kong, BtTF, Jaws…. We always avoided Fast and Furious just because we didn’t have that time to waste, this last visit we went on Fast and Furious because we had 15 mins until park closure and there was no wait ….. I can see why, like that was the cheesiest thing ever…Yet that is there but the classics aren’t. I get it, they want to stay up to date with current movies that people of most ages will identify with, but people of all ages will identify with BTTF and Jaws… Also side note, can’t wait until Mummy reopens, it’s been 8 months and still no updates…
If they do bring back BTTF I hope they would more heavily pad the interior of the cars- especially the headrests- for it is like being inside a giant washing machine, minus the soap and water!!!
Although I can’t speak for Universal Studios Orlando, I can’t say I miss both Back to the Future and Terminator T2-3D: Battle Across Time at Universal Studios Hollywood.
Hollywood doesn’t have the vacant space that Orlando offers (not unless they pick up space from their Back Lot, or remove existing Studio Stages). It would take the Hollywood location finding vacant space in Studio City to create a 2nd Theme Park, then bring back certain Rides or Attractions using today’s technology (I am all for animatronics vs projections – the two Attractions I mentioned above relied on existing IMAX simulators from that era, both the story and the tech would need to be brought up to the 21st Century).
Never say Never, because nobody expected Nintendo coming to a Universal Theme Park in America (and nobody predicted that illumination intellectual property would take over DreamWorks intellectual property).
What happened to “Universal needs to find its place in the 90’s”? You seem to enjoy having double standards. But then again, I guess based on your comments in other articles just comes to show just how much a person such as you are can be self absorbed in their opinion. Remember, “there is no future”? That’s you bub
I would love to see a return of BTTF & all the classics. No reason they cant have a VR ride where you select the ride you want to go on… of course they would actually have to bring back Jaws
Yes Bring back “back to the future” great ride. I. Would like to see King Kong , jaws, earthquake, twister, all the old ones would be great. Brings back so many wonderful wonderful memories. That’s not to say that you shouldn’t add new because you should, but keep the old. Thank you

Wow hit the nerve of another Disney freak
JC
Like how in the past.
Nickell
Yes they should bring back the back to the future ride it the most popular attraction
Matt

Can they still capitalize on Marvel after it’s acquisition by Disney?
Rosa
I think they should be back…they’re emblematic!!!…and new attractions too, of course!!

Would love to see BTTF ride return. My family are all huge fans of the movies and I’m sure it would be a great success for Universal.

Yes, Back to the Future, Jaws, Twister.
Jennifer
Thank you for mentioning Twister. I feel like that one gets left out all the time. Kudos to you! 👏🏼

JLO
Thank you! Maybe it’s because I’m not big into cartoons, but sick of everyone saying how great The Simpsons is!
Joe
Get rid of Fast and Furious and bring back the Beetlejuice Rock and Roll Revue.
John
Oh God, Fast and Furious is awful!
Bryan
If they do that they can probably change Kang and Kodos’ Twirl ‘n’ Hurl with small DeLoreans or the hoverboard
JLO
I’ve always said they never should have gotten rid of it in the first place. That ride was awesome and so much fun!
MuzzyFush
Jaws should never have been removed and Fast & Furious should never have been built.
Sarah
I would be booking my trip to universal so fast if they bring back bttf it’s my husband and my 10 year old sons favorite movie my husband never got the chance to ride it, the thing about bttf is that its timeless that movie never goes out of date its classic all age groups love it and universal made a mistake getting rid of it
Elaine
Fantastic news, hopefully they will bring back a few more classic rides in addition to the new ones. Obviously they can update the rides.
William
Bring back JAWS 🦈
Tommy V
Bring back the original BTTF in its entirety. My daughter made me ride it 5 times in a row when she was 10. We’d do it again if it returns.
Jon

I say bring back the Original King Kong and stop the virtual stuff.

Could it be Disney owns fox which owns Simpsons? And if they do not ALLOW universal to use the rights…well Usf has a big empty box ride.
JohnJoe
We should start a petition to that end…even if we don’t get BTTF at least the Simpsons will be gone for good!
Kim
It would be Great to see Back to the Future ride again. I miss all the old Universal Rides.
.
Amber
Please bring back “ back to the future” ride! It was just as much of a classic movie, that all generations love, as much or more than E.T.
