It appears that Disney management is missing the point with profitable entertainment. More people will more often pay more money for the things more of them want than they will pay for being manipulated or lectured to in a social agenda.
Fun, silly, happy or thrilling stories that most customers enjoy apparently earn more money than grim, moralistic, manipulative stories do.
To put that in perspective, if Disney only makes $100M domestically on Lightyear it will equate to roughly $30-$60 per customer loss per movie ticket sold. Perhaps Disney should stick to profitable entertainment and stay out of social politics. No American should ever want mega corporations manipulating our democracy or our society anyway.
Minions, Rise of Gru was Funny. Laughed my head off. Great movie to bring the whole family to. We all enjoyed it.
Disney should have just released “Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, The Adventure Begins” to the big screen instead of “Lightyear”. True fans know that is the true origin story.
Fantastic movie, the whole family loved it and guess what? No hidden agendas like Disney has been throwing in! Baymax series was the last straw for our family, cancelled Disney Plus, not going to vacation at Disney, considering a Universal trip instead! Time for the media to acknowledge the truth about Light Year -families with morals skipped it! Adult topics have no place in animated content!
I saw both of the films and honestly minions made me laugh hard (and maybe cry a little when wild knuckles ‘died’). Whereas light-year was just boring it wasn’t fun and silly and yeah I love having Lgbtqia representation but I don’t want to watch that representation come from a mega cooperation that really doesn’t care for Lgbtqia people, if Disney wants to make a buck just make a silly film
Of course, there is that Elephant in the Room, or Article… that is so glaring and evident that it is often the subject of selective ignorance by the modern day ‘enlightened journalist’ (an oxymoron). Disney continues to make significant efforts to ‘normalize’ a lifestyle that is far from the norm. While I believe that the majority of theater-goers can accept and live alongside people of differing lifestyles, very few of them want that lifestyle in their homes and in front of their children. And there is nothing wrong with that. Parents choose the way they bring up our children. Disney is pandering, then, to the purchasing power of the great minority. And when that happens, revenue loss and low ticket sales are the very obvious result. Duh…
Families in America are sick and tired of Hollywood’s woke agenda. I took my kids to see the new Minions movie and loved every minute of it! My family will not go see lightyear, and I will not renew my Disney+ subscription this year.
What happened to good family fun and movies without hidden agendas, oh Disney thought it would be a great idea to get involved in how your kids should be raised. Minions was a great family fun movie with no obvious or hidden agenda!! That’s what most people want for their family! It’s unfair for my family to have to deal with having agendas shoved down our throat because of a small few.
Here’s the thing I could care less about who you love or how you live your life just please stop telling me how to live mine. We just all need to agree to disagree and go back to not pushing things on people. I miss the days when everything wasn’t so political.
Pretty simple. As a parent of a 13 and 8 year old I’ll be taking them to see Minions and not Light Year. I control our family spending and have no interest in your work agenda. How many kiss scenes were in Toy Story 1-4 again?

If Disney made it, the minions would be in a gay swinger relationship with each other.

Having to make a real in-universe 80s-90s kids movie wouldn’t give them a at form for their political agenda.

Minions are the most ridiculous things ever! So popular! Good for them!
