When our son was around 8, he’s now 32, he was selected to be part of a son to find someone “worthy”. He was that person and pulled the sword up, it doesn’t come all the way out.

    1. Magan

Went when I was 5 (now 34), and pulled it, but that was because Merlin picked me from the crowd. I was psyched the rest of the day, lol!

      1. Beautiful! 😁❤️🥰 Experiences.

    2. Light

You got to find where they have the magnet turned off and turn it off. Why do you think the sword is going through a anvil? Into a stone

    3. Michael

On June 23rd, 2019 my daughter celebrated her 50th birthday at Disney World. Our group of 11 watched as Melissa pulled the sword up. It was on the morning on her birthday! Wow! If someone was watching they did not know it was her birthday.

  2. Martha

Yes, my friend’s 9 year old daughter pulled it up on our last visit together this past June. We had seen someone else do it earlier in our trip but were unsuccessful that day ourselves. However on our 2nd Magic Kingdom day our attempts were successful! She pulled it up and we got lots of pictures and my niece joined her for some. Then it lowered back down and some men attempted after them but they were not deemed worthy.

  3. Mike

It was part of a show early 2000’s. It’s electronically done. If you complain that much about it. You are Not worthy of the sword.

  4. Patti

And with reservations difficult to get this Tik Tok person is taking up (along with anyone who goes with him) spots that vacationers could have used.

    1. Kat

Annual passholders have a different reservation pool than ticket holders

    2. Zeke

What? He spends money to get in the park like everyone else. He isn’t taking up any spots anyone else could’ve used. His money not good enough for you or something?

    3. USAgent Black

Oh my gosh are you serious? This is America!!! First come, fittest served. Sheesh. If he wants to blow his money going to Disney every day, God help him, but it’s his money.

    4. Mal

Lol. Tik Tokers. Useless for society. Saying Disney was out to get them. What the point of these tik tok people except to complain lol.

  5. Kat

I was there when it was pulled by a child. The sword doesn’t come out all the way. Then an adult male tried and failed. Another child tried then failed. Then the “worthy” child pulled it again.

Spoiler alert: the sword is activated by a cast member with a remote control.

  6. Izzi

I pulled the sword “out” (as far as it goes) with two of my friends at the end of our Disney College Program in 2008. It was the Year of a Million Dreams. My friend saw a cast member lurking near the sword with a big bag and asked if she’d take our picture, then when she counted down for the picture she flipped the switch to release the sword and snapped the picture as we realized we were pulling it out. I cried, it was beautiful.

I have lived in Fort Lauderdale since 2017 and never visited Disney because of a mixture of not being able to afford to and when I could stretch it, wondering if I could justify the cost, in addition to *anxiety* but I gotta tell you…this, this right here created a picture in my head that damn near brought a tear to MY eye. Seriously the most wholesome moment on the internet, today.

Do you even have any clue how the Sword in the Stone works? There is a scheduled event held in Fantasyland and it’s a big flashy thing, where a Cast Member (Merlin?) comes forward and announced that there will be a selection of someone to try to remove the Sword from the Stone. The Member usually chooses a child, who is able to pull the Sword up in the Stone (not actually removing it) because the ELECTRONIC LOCK is released, allowing the Sword to rise. Otherwise, the Sword is (mainly) immovable, disregarding damage to the display. It’s a fun thing, but for people to claim that Disney is discriminating against TikTokers specifically, is just… plain… ludicrous.

    1. Charles Forrest Minetree

You are correct! I saw the ceremony at Disneyland. I think they only let young children pull the sword. It is possible they may allow older guest pull it for special occasions.

    2. JMR

Thank you!! Excellent explanation of the sword! (And of these complaining TikTok candyassers who feel they’re being slighted 🙄)

    3. Brandon

Yeah, you guys are a bunch of dorks. The Sword in the Stone was an attraction before THE INTERNET was a thing, let alone TikTok.

I don’t think these TikTokers realize our country wasn’t founded by sending emails across the country

  8. Jake

Oh good gravy. “I didn’t get to do that thing! I’m being discriminated against!”

Well I drove to work today and encountered two — count them, TWO — red lights. The city discriminates against people who drive Camrys! Let me pull out my phone and document the red lights so I have proof of the discrimination!

    Give me a break.

    1. Oh no I also drive a Camry and I got stopped by a red light today. (smaller town).. I also should have taken the picture. What will we do?!? Lol
      Thanks for making me laugh.

    2. Cheynagal

Then they discriminate against Teslas too because I also got 2 red lights! 😀 Too funny! Thanks for the laugh!

  9. Good for you 👍 👏

  10. Kelli

My daughter just pulled the sword out last week at Dinseyworld. Confirmed from the Disney employee it only happens maybe twice a day.

    1. It’s literally probably a pressure thing because again it’s about feeling not strength. Oh have a mightyest of us have fallen strangely I think it’s usually adults LOL

  11. Lance

I once pulled out the sword in Magic Kingdom a long time ago when they had a little show with Merlin there. I was maybe 6 years old or so. Merlin picked me out of many other kids even though I wasn’t jumping around and raising my hand or anything. He gave me a medal and certificate after pulling the sword out which I probably still have somewhere.

  12. M. Strain Jr.

Maybe these TikTokers aren’t worthy. That’s why they’re on TikTok.

    1. Maybe tick tock is actually just a metaphor and Revelation for the fact that we all have time limits for ourselves and our minds and our hearts to become better every day of our lives and it’s okay to express it in any way you deem fit but you are expressing your true self and you can’t take it back this is like the second book of Enoch just saying because the internet is.

      1. BeowulfAchilles

Oh jeez. You’re as bad as the tiktokers haha, stop proselytizing at people. Odin also spoke in the Havamal about hubris, as did Zeus, and so do your Abrahamic brothers in Islam and Judaism.
The bible isn’t unique man, i mean 90% of it is just consolidated from preexisting gnostic and early monotheistic beliefs.

These tiktokers are being ridiculous for sure, it’s electronically locked..but isn’t some profound example to cite from your mythology. Step outside of your cult bubble once in a while and realize a random goofy article isn’t the place for it, most people aren’t remotely interested.

  13. Antoinette

I think that research on these so called Viral ticktockers should be done. My husband showed me this guy weeks ago and I had a suspicion then we did a quick search and found his LinkedIn page. I think it might give some insight into what he is actually doing in these ticktock’s 🤣

  14. Marie

My daughter pulled it up at 4 or 5. We have the video. They make a big presentation about it.

  15. Stephanie

My 6 year old pulled it out last month! Her face was priceless after trying EVERY trip there!

    1. Well that’s because he probably did it gently like he was supposed to.

  16. Chris B

“TikTokers are chiming in, claiming Disney may be sabotaging and working against TikTokers.” Disney is anything but against tiktokers being that its tiktokers and youtubers who are invited to exclusive parties and events that we normal people arent invited to.

    1. That might perhaps be true but it’s kind of hard to tell from this example alone.

  17. Kevin

Tik Tok-ers are idiots and have way too much time on their hands. Would be nice if they used their time and energy on something actually worthwhile.

    1. Everything means something man.

      1. Kevin

Read to the end of the sentence. Its just another two words. I know you can do it.

        1. Mac

If it’s something he wants to do and he enjoys then it’s good for him. Chances are you play sports. Does you swinging a wooden bat at a ball constitite something worthwhile? Yeah exactly.

      2. June

My husband pulled it out on our last night of vacation at magic kingdom in Florida. We tried everytime we were at the park multiple times a day. He cried. Lol

      3. Pam Cranford

It’s just a gig for Jojo. Relax 😌

  18. I don’t understand how they’re sabotaging it exactly except they’re going at it like pure muscle strength instead of the experience of nobly grabbing the hilt properly. Life is so much more than we give it credit for.

  19. Brad

lol TikTok=the art of shamelessly documenting your stupidity via video in hopes of sparking controversy or earning a small allowance from gaining enough followers so you don’t have to get a real job and contribute something meaningful to society. 20. Chris

The brake releases randomly. If you get angry at it, may as well be angry at the rain.

  21. Mario

It seems this is targeted to the younger audience, in my personal perspective, I’ve seen what some people consider attractive women or young children. I’ve heard guys pull it too, but im starting to think this is a hidden ploy by disney to objectify race and gender, but who knows, disney is full of magic secrets.

  22. KENNY B

What’s next a story about how a ” tik toker went”viral” for trying to catch real ghost in the haunted mansion? GTFOH with these mundane ass stories.

  23. Matt

Disney really out here telling us that not everyone is special, and some peeps are actually getting offended by that?? Love it. Amazing. I’m here for it, Disney. keep it up! ✋🤚

  24. Brian

Yes, you found Disney out. They’re against TikTokers. Way to expose them. Maybe some real news next?

  25. viral tick-tocking

    It’s obvious, isn’t it?

He’s NOT worthy, and never will be.

He doesn’t want the sword to become a powerful Knight and defend the Kingdom from all its foes!

He just wants page views. NOT WORTHY!

  26. PirateWifeSux

Tiktokers aren’t real people. Their opinions don’t matter.

    1. Frost

      Yes.

  27. Quinn Mallory

I thought for sure someone in the comments would know, but looks like not. So I’ll spill the rice: Merlin controls it with a remote after selecting a child to pull it free (at least thst’ show it works at Disneyland in CA.

    1. Doug

See my comment below…you are right.

  28. Frost

This is why I have tiktokers. “Tiktokers believe disney is purposely trying to ruin their experiences”.

  29. Ed

I waste approximately 20 minutes a day reading stories like this. Affords a good “I cant believe these people and things” somebody needs a life

  30. gt318

Disney’s actually helping this tik tokker out. If he got it on his first or second try, his mission would be over and his videos most likely would not have gone viral. Then I wouldn’t have wasted my time reading and replying to this article. Not to mention laughing at how Ms Poulin thinks the trick to pulling the sword is finesse over muscle and not a hidden cast member with a switch.

  31. Doug

Still have picture of my daughter trying to get the sword out at age 5. She is now 32 and still has no success.
BUT I CAN TELL YOU HOW.
It is magnet grip, controlled from a distance. Just have to find the Disney employee in charge of it. GOOD LUCK.

  32. Phil

Wonder what would happen with a bit of “Super Glue “?

  33. Dr. Gonzo

I’d be biased against those fn toxic dredges of society, too.

Tik Tok is a cesspool of worthless, nasty people. Wish it would just fn die already.

  34. Gina

Yup, my nephew pulled it out about 15 years ago. I have a picture to prove it!

  35. Pam Cranford

It’s just a gig for Jojo. Relax 😌

  36. Jim H

So, like what do u get if you actually pull out the sword?

  37. Tony Newhall

I used to be Merlin at Disneyland back in the 80’s in California we did four shows a day with a five piece brass band where we would pick somebody from the audience usually a big dude and humiliate him and then we would pick a child and they would successfully pull the sword from the stone. we would put a crown and a cape on him give him a button and a proclamation and take a picture and then we would take the crown in the cape back and we do this four times a day. The Sword is controlled by brake pads that are released with the stage managers push of a garage door contoller. They added this feature to Fantasyland when they redid it in the early 80s..

We also just used to do a roadshow across the United States and Canada with a fiberglass version of the Sword in the Stone which was activated by a foot pedal.

In those shows it was just a jester and Merlin instead of the band. We also did the same ceremony to light the Christmas tree on main Street during the holidays instead of The sword in the Stone it was the ability to light the tree up that was a lot of fun.

Sad if there’s no sword in the stone show now.

  38. Captain Wo7f

Most likely because it’s for kids not creepy adults

  39. Sparki

The sword in the stone is an attraction, and is part of a show the secret to it is that when the “show” is happening, a cast member is there at all times, and it’s usually children who get picked to pull the sword, the cast member has a button hidden somewhere in their outfit so when the “worthy” child approaches, they can push the button and slightly pull the sword out, the sword doesn’t come out all the way, but unfortunately they stopped this show due to issues of people purposely trying to pull the sword out of the stone and then proceeds to break it
