Benedict Cumberbatch did NOT just ‘become available’ for Dr. Strange. He was Feige’s first choice, but he NOT AVAILABLE due to having committed to Hamlet on stage (especially since the entire 3 month run of the play sold out in 7 minutes; months before). So Cumberbatch had to turn down the part of Dr. Strange.
But after auditioning some other actors, Feige went back to Cumberbatch and agreed to push production back 4 months so that BC could play Doctor Strange.
Now that is what I call some fierce casting.
Plus he works cheap. He calls himself a feminist and has announced that he would refuse any part where the woman co star is not paid equal pay.
