i saw it. the storyline of finding the texts was intriguing, but i didnt care for the parts sex played in it.

I thought the media was trying to convince everybody that he wasn’t canceled though. Except not only was this movie apparently canceled three times according to the article itself, but Minamata (which is an amazing film and almost got a fan favorite award for the Oscars) was canceled as well and the release limited.

It is a fantastic movie–one of my favorite Depp movies. Another one, which is great, is Ed Wood. It is excellent.

I have a collection of Johnny Depp movies tho some were stolen I still have about 20 or so of them and replacing some as we speak. I watched the 9th gate and Johnny’s acting is always spot on but it’s one I wouldn’t watch over and over, and it’s not because of him it’s because of the demonic stuff in it. I just don’t like stuff like that.

Right on, my dear lady, you said it!! 🙂. I lived in Los Angeles in 2000, and this movie played on the Galaxy (zikk-zakk across Roosevelt Hotel, Chinese Theater, and Bank Of America on Sunset). It certainly didn’t play in no dog-gone 1999, but in April 2000, simultaneously with Jet Li and Alaayia’s beautiful super-cool movie “Romeo Must Die” playing at the Chinese Theater on the other side of Orange. I fell asleep right after Polanski’s wife descends on the scene like a bat out of hell (literally). Two years later I saw the movie in Norway, on DVD. To my horror I found that the movie centers around a man (played by Langella) who willingly forfeits the Christian Redemption, which is specifically detailed in the movie, adding injury to insult.

Old movie but one of my favorites.

This movie was never “cancelled” once let alone three times. This site really needs to start being more accurate in its reporting.

It’s a joke how they titled this. I’ll be sharing this article as much as possible so people can see this is run by uneducated people. In my opinion uneducated ill informed people shouldn’t hold publications.

I just recently watched the Ninth Gate again on an app called Tubi. Anything Johnny is in ,even if it’s just a few seconds , meaning like a cameo appearance,I’ll watch. He’s still my favorite despite everything that has happened.

First time for me seeing the movie, and it was interesting. Has many faces and would like to see more of his movies.

  18. Heather

I have that movie and it’s pretty good.

  19. Ninth gate is one of my favorites among his movies, however the one I can’t seem to find any where is Nick of time and it is the first one I saw Johnny Depp in

I didn’t like that movie at all. It made me sick, couldn’t finish it. I have no tolerance for watching a child in danger. The Ninth Gate was okay, but IMHO many stories in The Holy Bible are much better, and scarier, than any devil bible. The Holy Bible holds a power that will put the fear of God in anyone.

  20. I have seen the Ninth Gate several times, it is very good.

      🙏
