Knott’s is nothing compared to Disney in terms of line cutting and fighting. Knott’s is super tame by Disney standards these days which is really sad. I do agree with this person boycotting the park however, the only way these theme parks will change is if people stop going to them. It’s not going to happen, but this person at least will feel like they are not a part of the craziness.
YES I UNDERSTAND PEOPLE ARE FRIGHTENED FROM RECENT HAPPENINGS AT KNOTT’S BUT IT’S NOTHING COMPARED TO DISNEYLAND, OMG THE CRAZINESS THERE IS OVERWHELMING. KNOTT’S QUICKLY PUT INTO ACTION MORE SECURITY AND ALSO CHAPERONED MINORS.. IT IS SUMMER TIME AND EVERY ONE WANTS TO BE OUT, ESPECIALLY AFTER THE LONG TIME OF BEING LOCKED INDOORS. WE JUST NEED TO ENJOY OUR TIME WITH OUR FRIENDS AND FAMILIES AND JUST BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS. THESE THINGS HAPPEN EVERYWHERE. YOU CAN BE AT A GROCERY STORE OR MCDONALD’S AND THESE THINGS HAPPEN. YOU JUST HAVE TO BE CAREFUL WITH ANYTHING IN THIS WORLD. BUT I WOULDN’T TAKE IT TO THE LEVEL OF NOT GOING.. BECAUSE REGARDLESS IF YOU STOP NOW AND GO LATER THINGS HAPPEN IN THE BEST PLACES, YOU WILL NEVER COMPLETELY AVOID THIS..YOU CAN’T STOP YOUR LIFE BECAUSE OF OTHERS..KNOTT’S IS STILL A WONDERFUL PLACE TO GO,TO HSVE FUN AND SHARE TIME WITH FAMILY AND FRIENDS…MY MOTHER AND FATHER WERE THERE ON THE DAY ALL THIS HAPPENED AND THEY ARE SENIORS..LIKE MY PARENTS SAID..THERE IS ALWAYS A BAD APPLE IN A BUNCH, YOU JUST HAVE TO BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS AND ENJOY LIFE..AND I AGREE..
I agree. We go all the time and have never seen the stuff that happened that day. Plus, the food passes and choices are the best of them all, by far. Sometimes I wonder if there isn’t someone or some higher industry entity doing this to Knott’s on purpose. Is this a hit job? It’s sure possible.
What is up with your negative comments? I mean WOW attack someone for no reason. Luckily this is Disney related so I won’t say what I really want to. Don’t be Shrek’s buddy.
It’s sad that we can’t control our own behavior and have to be policed. I love Knotts Berry Farm, I happened to be at first services one day and witnessed their security having to handle a half a dozen disrespectful young adults, my husband and I were astonished at the disrespect spewing from these delinquents, yet the security were so calm and handled it so beautifully, I would have a hard time coming to work each day if I knew that’s what was awaiting me. Love Knotts, they have my allegiance.
Exactly, it’s a cult these days where they’re really uncomfortable by how similar Knott’s is and how nearby. Tell them the truth Walt Disney and Walter Knott were close friends & influenced each other and they’ll freak out. A cult.
Actually Knott’s puts customer experience well before profit. The amount of entertainment proves that, not to mention they actually found creative ways to have tasting events during the shut down that were both safe and provided something fun to do for all of us that were stuck with nothing going on.
They have been kicking people out for line cutting, smoking, etc. when they catch them, I have personally seen it happen on more than one occasion since reopening. The problem is they can’t catch everyone and if they don’t see it or catch it on camera, there are limited options.
Yes, there was a really bad fight one day, but there have been more fights at Disney than at Knott’s.
But if people want to boycott Knott’s, go for it, less of a crowd for me, but just know they are doing better than the competition at keeping these things at bay.
Profit Profit Profit. It doesn’t matter if it’s Disney stuffing the park with people (especially pre-COVID) or Knotts with minimal security, or Tragic Mtn. with lots of gangsters showing up and intimating guests. It’s just not the same safe environments when we were kids. Pass on all.
We where just that last Saturday. Park was crowded but very calm. They had bands playing and families sitting at picnic tables enjoying the Music. We never felt in any danger. Security was present. I’ve seen lots of fight at Disneyland as well. Glad to see Knotts Berry Farm has changed their policies. Its not the parks fault its the people.
If more parents parented instead of dropping their children off at theme parks expecting the theme park staff to be babysitters more than likely there would be many less events at these theme parks going on than there is now so really who’s responsible for the kids… I think the people that have them or at least that’s how it used to be when parents parented instead of shirking responsibilities.
I agree totally about Sux Flags. I went there almost 20 years ago and it was gangsta city. The looks my wife and I got were like they were trying to intimidate us. Of course me being in my military uniform was a bit helpful lol.
Good! Fewer people when I go. The fighting was a stupid tik tok challenge and not a common issue. Crowds are NOTHING impacted to Disneyland. Glad to hear the Karens will be staying home.
Good! I hope this DOES keep the Karens away. Anyone with kids or relatives who work at Knott’s will tell you that ever since the park reopened after the pandemic, they’ve been understaffed, overworked, and had to put up with an endless parade of entitled a-holes who think it’s acceptable to yell at employees and treat them like dirt. If those people want to cry and whine and boycott the park now over some ridiculous social media nonsense that was out of the park’s control (but still dealt with swiftly), then good riddance. They absolutely won’t be missed. I’m tired of seeing my 18 y.o. daughter coming home after a 13 hr shift exhausted and crying because grown ass men and women were screaming in her face and belittling her all day just because she asked them to follow basic safety rules on the rides.
The kids showing up and starting fights for tik tok recognition are only a small part of the problem. Adults who don’t know how to behave or how to treat employees like human beings are the real problem in the park right now.
The new chaperone rule made quite the difference.
I agree that the park was starting to feel unsafe but not because of the fight, the park was feeling unsafe because parents were using the park as a daycare. Groups of underage rude kids creating chaos in the park and parents allow it.
Now that the rule is in place the park automatically felt different. Families with respectful minors were enjoying the parks.
Of course Knotts still need help with the consistently terrible ride load times because of bad employee training and lack of rules on how to maximize load/unloading of guests in rides. Lines that should take 15-20 minutes sometimes take 30-40 minutes or more.
The vast majority of the time you have other guests to thank for those longer than usual wait times. Ride operators go through EXTENSIVE training for each ride they’re assigned to, but no amount of training is going to stop argumentative people who don’t want to follow basic safety rules like, “Please put your phone away” from holding up everyone else while they argue and act like jerks. There’s been a lot of rides this past year that had to get shut down for hours just because a guest either tried to get physical while arguing with an operator or they did something that was so dangerous that it triggered an emergency shut down of the ride.
I cancelled my passes earlier this year because Knotts values money over customers, they treat special needs children horribly (we had 2 awful experiences) and they just don’t care about the people.
I had a bad experience also with a worker at the carrousel years ago when I was trying to get my wheelchair bound special needs son into the ride. He was super rude and I requested to speak to the manager. He was helpful, but you are right. The staff is improperly trained
I have a relative that works there in the medical department. He sees people all the time disrespecting the security at the park. If they try to tell people they’re violating dress code or congregating and need to disburse, they are accused of profiling and racism. So they can’t win either way. It really comes down to PARENTS, Teach Your Kids RESPECT!! Until this happens or people stop enabling and ignoring, things will NEVER change
Knott’s is definitely understaffed and sold WAY too many passes, though with passes being so cheap it is not hard to get your money’s worth. I will say though, the chaperone policy does make quite the difference. Went on a Friday and while the park was still packed, the atmosphere was immensely better. The park was filled with mainly families enjoying their day instead of rude teens. Made it quite lovely to just walk around the park. They need to implement this during all days of the week. There were also more employees managing rides.
Its not the parks fault its the people.
this is one of the rudest comments I’ve ever seen on here you must be a big Disney fan it’s the only thing I can explain I love going to the park and I wouldn’t want you banned from this park so I please ask that you do not try to ban us
Don’t know why anybody would find these problems odd.your state gov fuels all this hatred for a state with all kinds of gun control I guess they forgot to inform the criminals of these laws imagine that.we left that state and all its lack of teeth in the law bs long ago, and never looked back.cali is done take your money and run before you can’t, theme parks have very little issues like this where we live and we live in a right to carry state as well realy weird huh.never gonna change out there especially when you keep electing criminals to run the state.knotts and magic mountain have been a crap hole since the late 80s you always leave those places before dark anyone with a brain knew that.
What I notice is even after the fights after 2 days I visited the park security was still thesame they are still not so visible and chaperon policy was not clear when first posted but now was updated and specific but instead of specific days why not make it everyday and improve security if you notice bad events happens every moth of July like last year line breaking is also bad 1 person lining and suddenly out of now where a group of 4 or more joins it makes people irritated and may cause another heated commotion 1 or 2 people is fine but more than that is bad even parking security needs to improve a lot you will rarely see security personnel there and on the tunnel going to the parking no security they should post even one guard there I won’t complain if they raise prices for tickets or pass as long as they fix this problems this for the safety of all!
This article is so inaccurate. My husband and kids were at the park the day it was shutdown. We were there again yesterday and it was the cleanest, safest, best time we have ever had there! We will renew! Thank you Knott’s and local agencies!
Knotts is till a WAY better deal than any other park in southern California. I have had a season pass and will definitely renew it. For under $500 me and my family can go to knotts eat and enjoy the roller coasters any time during the year. I am platinum with dining all day and unlimited drinks. Just to get some nto Disney is $600 for my family that is only one day I still need food and drinks. Universal is way more walking and about $300 more than knotts. Remember knotts price was season pass and all other parks where for ONE day
Please remember international tourist destinations have higher rates of worker abscenteism , due to working closely with our guests and with several patrons coming to the park with sick family members instead of staying home they expose multiple workers /guests to their viruses which inevitably leaves the park extremely short-handed .
Whether it’s realized or not Park employees put their lives at risk every time somebody coughs or sneezes around or on them with a pandemic like covid what else did you expect to happen at a theme park nothing less than I believe would be short-staffing and people with cabin fever for letting the first open events.
I’ve been going to both Knotts and Disneyland my entire life. And both seem to be going downhill. However Disney is not in the clear. This year we had our stroller stolen. Within a 5 min window yet Disney security said this never happens. But as I filed the report with Anaheim police they said it’s happening so much they can’t keep up with the theft cases. Police said thieves are going to Disneyland to steal strollers and belongings. And since Disney refuses to look at cameras even if it happened right in front of a camera in a short period of time. I got scolded my Disney security for running to the front gates looking for my stroller.
We’ve been going to knotts scary farm for the past 20 years and at the beginning it had a big gang problem, thugs pushing their way through lines. After we complained and getting free tickets problems disappeared until last few years and it’s all beginning again. You buy the fast lane passes at $80 and find out they’ve over sold them making them basically meaningless. As stated it’s all about money over enjoyment
I’ve been taking my grandkids who are 4 and 7 and have never felt unsafe. Knotts is reasonably priced and a lot of fun as well as Soak City. Exaggerated article.
I believe that we are about to see Nero play the fiddle soon. Too many people have lost their minds. This is a product of many things. I will try to capture a few of them. Lack of discipline of children. Lack of respect for one and another. A criminal justice system that rewards crime rather than punish. The idea of “I’m not responsible for my own actions, it is someone else’s fault” attitudes. If I am offended I will get a huge payout. This is some. I am sure that others can come up with a lot of others. I am thinking that it may be best to go deep into the mountains with some horses and come back out when this is all over.
The Disney guy is complaining about Knotts’ lines?
That’s cute.
These people can feel FREE to stay away from Knotts and improve my experience. The bigger threat to your health is other people not masking, but keep whining over a fixed problem!
I’ve never seen anything like this your describing at Knott’s. I’ve been going for 50 years and my wife ,kids and grandkids are passholders. Wow, How many Knotts employees are posting? We went to Knotts Scary Farm last year. Bought the Fast Lane, whatever it’s called pass. It was worthless. Everything is relative. Been to Disney lately?

Right? Seems they’re really slamming Knott’s for these incidents when all the theme parks are the same.
