I love how someone who goes to the parks regularly is being quoted as someone whose advice we should all follow. That’s nice for her, but when I’m spending a lot for a once in a lifetime vacation then a lot of this advice is bad.

    1. Show some class

If you’re taking a once in a lifetime vacation… don’t take it to Disney!

      1. Walt

        EXACTLY!
These are also not revelations from Mount Olympus.

I don’t think they’re saying it’s the only vacation they’ll ever take; it’s just the only one they’re going to take at Walt Disney World.

I agree, her advice isn’t for everyone. For us our first time I think Genie + is worth it especially for the photos alone. We wanted to have those photos of all of us a family and we found plenty of photographers around in the Disneyland and Disney adventure park to make it worth it alone

      1. I have boxes of pictures we paid to have taken at WDW. They are in boxes. No one looks at them they don’t get hung up they cost alot of money and sit in boxes. Your friends and family don’t want them. Don’t waste money on them. I know from years of experience.

I completely disagree with this. We get all the photos from Disney and I hang them on our wall. For us it is a great investment.

Then spend five bucks for water five times a day per person and wait forever in parking lot in 90degree+

YES, and they stated this in the article that it is just her opinion on what works for her, NOT YOU!!!

  2. This article acts like what she says is the end all list of what not to do. I think Magic Bands are very overhyped though I know that’s what Disney is using. I’m glad I stopped going to Disneyland before they started using Magic Bands. I don’t like added technology when I’m in the parks which is why I won’t go now because you practically have to be glued to your cell phone for everything these days in the parks.

Again Touche! they have ruined the entire park experience by forcing people to be glued to their phones. The entire experience ha been ruined.

I am really confused by this statement. When were you glued to your cellphone? I used my phone less in June than I have used it at Disney in the past. I never even got below 40% in battery life for the day. Same phone, just did not need to recharge during the day.

The Genie thing is a disaster. I don’t want to go on vacation and spend the day on my phone.

I think saving money on water is huge. I just found out about the free water stations at the Universal theme parks, its been a lifesaver on those hot Florida days as well as a money saver for me & my family. We bought some collapsible water bottles (Amazon) and we fill them up at the different stations through out the day. Not sure what Disney charges for bottled water, but Universal charges $2.50 × family of 4 = $10, now if I am there all day and have to buy more bottles for everyone that cld be $30-$40 and that is only water. It puts things into a new perspective. I would also mention that if u could be flexible on your vacation dates, May is a good time to go to Disney. Its right after Spring Break ends and right before school lets out for the locals. During the week is also the best time to go Tues – Thurs.

Walk into any counter service eatery and if they do not have cups of ice water out, just ask and you shall receive. You do not need water bottles.

As a former CM I can vouch for all save for parking (as I didn’t have a car at the time, not to mention that there’s a possibility that you “could” end the day at MK instead of the park of your choice) and maybe the MagicBand (while it is convenient, you don’t have to wear it every day or time, unless you put your room key on that).

HOWEVER, I would say that as far as those tips may go, they’re just “tips” in general based on her own experiences which differ from others.

I can offer some advice to some friends and family based on my experience as well as being kept up to date, but at the end of the day it’s for the receiver to decide for themselves how to go to Disney.
