They/them has always been used, even before transgender people became more accepted. If you saw someone far away and couldn’t tell, you’d say “them over there” or something along those lines. It’s really not uncommon to find in literature as well…

Someone in that situation should be able to leave their post and seek *on-site and independent* medical help LONG before the illness is physically evident. This is just cruel and inhuman. Costume characters all have some kind of non costumed cast member nearby, even during parades. This costume character should have alerted someone that they were sick. There is no reason to continue on and start vomiting.
Not a wardrobe malfunction, but the Tarzan jungle tour guide I had was hilarious, quipping about the shoddy state of repair of some of the animatronics, making innuendo about what Tarzan and Jane were up to. At the end he said something along the lines of, “if you had a bad time, please complain to management, it’s my last day so I don’t care!”
