Why is Disney so desperate to make a buck? I know when Walt first started he had sponsors for rides, but park bench advertising in the park? Makes it feel like a bus stop.

    1. Double Dip

Sponsors used to exist so we didn’t have to have trashy IPs everywhere they don’t belong. Now we get both.

    2. Mindy

Agreed. Super tacky, and it pulls people out of the immersion Disney tries to keep us in.

      1. Dora

Bob Chapek at his finest, he is hands down the worst CEO in Disney history. All about money and not the experience, my kids say he is the worst Disney Villain!

  2. Ken

guys… did you NOT pay attention in 1955?
    Dole presented the Tiki room
TWA presented the Rocket to the moon.
Its been this way SINCE IT OPENED!

    1. Chris

There is a HUGE difference between sponsoring a ride and putting an ad on a bench. Even in 1955, Disney wouldn’t have put ads on benches inside the park.

      1. Amber

This is not a big deal. But I don’t understand why they didn’t make the ad with cartoon style cars to match the theme.

        1. Dawn

Go look again, they are the Carsland Cars….

      2. Phil

Correct, it’s a ad, not a “sponsorship”. If Disney going to have “ Ads” are they going to REDUCE the admission price?

    2. Kevin

EVERY ride in Epcot was sponsored by a company as well and their logo was front and center at the rides entrance.

      1. Dawn

Autopia is sponsored by what…. Honda? Right now. There have always been sponsors in DL. I mean they sell Coke products…. there is a ton of product placement with that.

      2. Booker

Exactly I remember walking into EPCOT and the first thing you see is Spaceship Earth presented by Siemens

    3. Karen

Exactly! And look at the Future World pavilions at Epcot. Imagination was sponsored by Kodak, Test Track by GM, etc. I have not been fortunate enough to experience Cars Land, but these Enterprise ads don’t bother me one bit.

    4. Booker

Exactly, Sponsors have been around since 1955.

    5. Lou

I saw those things. When that was done it was different and that they were done much more appropriately. There might have been a large embroidered curtain in front of the country bears that said “presented by Frito-Lay.” It didn’t look like a tacky dirty sign on a park bench.

Moreover, I think Disney is become a very poor company in so many ways. The leaders just are completely lacking in judgment, skill and the character that’s required to know a good entertainment is and how to make people smile and laugh. Now, half the time I grown in pain when I see some of their stuff. The young people don’t know any better because I’ve never seen the old stuff the way it used to be. But the older people know what a treasure has been lost, or rather stolen, by the curront management of the Disney company. Part of me actually hopes that they go bankrupt.

      1. Lou

I meant to say, “when I was young,” not “when I was done.”

  3. Savannah

As long as Chapek and crew is running the business this will keep happening.

  4. Ed Dart

In the beginning everything in the park had a sponsor. Carnation Plaza, Kodak Camera, B of A was the Bank. The Tiki Room was sponsored by Sunkist, GE Carousel of Progress, Monsanto shrinking world, Star Fish Tuna had the Pirate Ship. ATT, Folgers had a coffee shop on Main Street. The list goes on and on. Walt knew how to make a buck, so don’t get to much pixy dust in you eyes. Almost all the sponsorships are gone, so I don’t think a park bench is going to blow Mickey’s mind.

  5. War Turtle

I see this as a HUGE Over Reaction. I was just there and didn’t even notice, I also went to six flags magic mountain. I saw zero similarities. Six flags is run down and dumpy. California Adventure has its own vibe. Disneyland Park is nothing like California Adventure.

    1. Six Flags Magic Mountain is NOT run down and dumpy!!!!

      1. SHARON

Oh how quickly we have forgotten the largest light up billboard ever, the Globe in EPCOT. Or what about that catchy tune from the 70’s, “If you had Wings”. If the bench upsets you, you have not been a long time Disney fan…in either park. I am just going back in the history of the World. The Land goes back to the 50’s.

    2. Krista

I am not sure of all the facts but I think there’s a new Medicare waiting room or relaxing room at the Marrakesh Diner in Epcot. Check out

  6. David McKenzie

I think it was the late 80’s or early 90’s when they put Fed-Ex ads in Space Mountain. Anybody remember that? Terrible. So glad when they removed them. Now they’re going back to this crap? Goodbye magic, little by little.

  7. Suzanne S

Earlier this evening, I met someone who works for Enterprise who said that the company recently rented out all of Tomorrowland at DL for a corporate event.

    1. Dawn

It happens…. GTE used to rent the entire park for a night every year. My mom worked for GTE and we would get to go for that night.

  8. CA

Did we forget about GE sponsoring the MSEP? Like, literally the GE logo on the float. This isn’t newsworthy.

  9. Jeremy

Before the mid 2000’s most of the rides were sponsored… Kodak Journey into the imagination, Delta Dreamflight, etc.

    1. Pocho Villa

Yeah! Let’s ban all of these darn corporate companies from advertising at a corporate company park. Please sign my petition to ban Starbucks from all Disney Parks at changemydiaper.org. 😀

  10. Stacy

Guess the “disney fans” have never been to EPCOT and risen Test Track: Sponsored by Chevrolet, to include a showroom of latest Chevy cars/trucks at the end of the ride.

  11. Kevin

Do “Disney fans” do nothing but complain about every little thing? They are just as bad as Marvel fans and Star Wars fans.

  12. Amy

Ummm… Luigi’s was always sponsored. It used to be Alamo but now it’s Enterprise (they’ll pick you up!). Alamo used to have a ton of things in the queue, just no one went on that ride. This one is just out in public so people can be mad about a ride they never cared about.

  13. Peter

Use to love my annual trips to Disneyland and Disney World but for the past several years I’ve seen a steady move away from what made Disney Disney. Unfortunately I have lost any desire to see either Park and most of the programming and movies have done the same, losing that Disney magic. Disney has greatly damaged their image which I heard from many people. Too bad, guess it’s time to look else where as Disney starts what appears to be a death spiral of shlock.

  14. Diane T.

“It’s a Small World” was first located at the World’s Fair in New York (1964) as the COCA-COLA attraction.

The sponsored ride was then moved to Anaheim/ Disneyland after the World’s Fair.

  15. It’s a cute sign with cars that resemble the CARS cars. Just have a seat and be happy you are there.

  16. Chad morris

Big whoop. This is so minor..in the 80s I went to both Disneyland and world, and at the end of it’s a small world they had several sponsors like Visa listed

  17. MrConservative

Perhaps the complainers are too young to remember the tacky roadside billboards, motels, restaurants, etc., especially along Route 66 during the ’50’s. Quit whining and enjoy.

    1. PR

Perhaps we are old enough to remember how tacky the “tacky roadside billboards” were, and we don’t want them at the parks.

  18. Rick S

I don’t have a problem with advertising, but I think they should try to blend it into the theme of the attraction or land/area so it’s not too obvious.

  19. EarAche

This is deplorable. Disney does not need the money, having a surplus year despite and epidemic and war.
Disney, I love visiting the original DP but this is so tacky and not needed. Shame on you and Enterprise. Even if you bought the company, outside retailers have no business in the parks, with exception to coffee houses. Let’s face it, Disney coffee is crap compared to Coffee Bean & Tea leaf or Starbucks.

  20. Sandra

It seems Disney is always looking for money. Selling out characters for stupid commercials like the Doctor Strange Tide commercial and now advertising on benches in the park. While they do all this, they don’t reduce the prices. Just nickel and dime the guests at the same time. Sad. Walt Disney would despise all the money grabbing and changes to his family parks and brand.

  21. Jess Newcomb

The lack of this stuff always made Disney a better
Experience for me. This really cheapens the experience.

  22. anonymous

Was waiting for this to happen. When Disney started ad campaigns with Applebees, Geico, etc…with TV blitz ads using their main characters (not side characters or hints) I knew brand protectionism was over, it’s 1999 all over again and surprised park product ads didn’t come sooner. Dilute those franchises!

  23. Maggie

This was, once upon a Disneyland, Walt’s idea! The Mexican restaurant was sponsored by Frito Lays, Carnation on Main Street, I can’t remember them all, first time I was there was 1958.

  24. Goodie7

Since Enterprise is a car rental place, would that be a brothel in the CARS universe?

    1. Pickup

This gives new meaning to “We’ll pick you up”!

      1. Krista

        Love It

  25. C'mon Sense

Wow, look at these whining adults crying over a CAR AD on a bench in CARSLAND! These guys really need a dunce hat and go sit in a corner with Dopey and Grumpy.

  26. S

They should’ve done State Farm. That’s canon in the cars universe. Mater knew the jingle.

  27. Bruh

Everything at Disney is tacky, why are people only just now realizing that

  28. Abbottar

I don’t have an issue with the sponsorships and ad promos, what I have an issue with the actual bench doesn’t really fit into the design theme. This is bench you pick up at Target and Enterprise just slapped a decal overtop of it with an Enterprise Logo and CARs silhouettes. They should at least keep the theming style. I think it is just a poorly designed concept……like Superstar Limos.

  29. Jack

Twitter loves to remind you it is infested with no life drama queens.

  30. Alan

People forget when DisneyWorld had Space Mountain “Brought to you by RCA” OR THE wonder if Flight (or what is was that used to be where Buzz Lighyear is now) was brought to you by Eastern Airlines. (Funny how many of those early days sponsors are now out of business). Anyway, between this and going full Pay to Ride with Genie+ (remember “E Ticket Rides?) it seems like everything old is new again.
