Where is it in the contract that if you buy a ticket to the parks, or have an annual pass, that you will be taken out of line for the rich Lightning Lane customers? Ive not seen that language on any ticket or passholder contract. Chapek sure loves the rich suckers who stay at the star wars hotel, buy the LL’s. Genie plus and the res system exist to create a false demand, and artificially long ride waits. Chapek has created a massive illusion, and people are buying it, literally buying it.
I went a few weeks ago on a “just because” trip and stayed an entire day from rope drop to closing. I opted to not do LL since I’ve experienced Disney on truly busy days and didn’t really think my trip was going to be impacted in any drastic way. Boy howdy, was I wrong to do that. Throughout my entire day, I only managed to ride two rides: Haunted Mansion and Jungle Cruise. Both had at least 45min standard wait time (that’s fine), and every other ride by noon reached 35min or above (again, that’s usually fine on busy days) but it was the ride breakdowns that really peeved me. More often than not, I would begin the wait and about a good chunk of waiting, the ride would break down and the queue had to be filed out (ie Indiana Jones). But no FastPass freebie was handed out for another ride. And with rides down, everyone would then flock to the other rides and they, in turn, say an increase in wait time. I even relayed my dismay to a Cast Member, only for them to elicit a shrug and suggest using Lightning Lane to cut down waiting time. Even rides that used to have Single Rider have transitioned away from it save for a handful of rides, and made for solo-ing the park kinda hard. My entire day resulted in just a glorified day of line riding, and that just plain sucked. Like, to pay for a Disney ticket and end up doing hardly anything was a downer. But I think, had I paid for the add-on, I probably would have had a more substantial/successful day. At least I finally saw the Main-Street Electrical Parade for the first time of my life, and that was neat.
Tl;dr It was severely difficult to enjoy a day at Disney without the apparent necessary add-on that is Lightning Lane.
You shouldn’t have to add LL just to enjoy your time at Disney, If it helps a little great, but you shouldn’t need to rely on it to make it an average day. It’s bad enough they are allowing too many people to pay and cut the line, many other parks limit the amount of skip the line passes which keeps the stand by moving. People pay enough as it is and now they can’t even ride after waiting forever because some bum paid more than you to skip it completely.
Disney destroys history in the name of inclusively while they create rigid class structures in parks that were intended to have none at all. They are a disgrace.
I can skip a couple of paid sodas a day in favor of free water cups and easily have the cash for LL. In the overall costs of a Disney trip, it is a nominal expense that gives me valuable time back. The big money for me is tied up in travel, accommodations, and the actual park tickets.

How many really are? We will know next year when the COVID tourism flushes out and they have to depend on repeat visits.

There should only be one queue, period.

The parks were better when there was. Fast pass was always just a setup for it going paid.

Greed. It isn’t even about priority anymore. If you want to ride, you need to shell out extra.
