Rapunzel interacts with the family right at the end of the video where it’s cut off. Odd time to cut the video… I do think it was painfully obvious they were “ignored”. Rapunzel is being corralled too move ahead by the Disney cast support. You have to imagine the number of people that want to stop and interact with the characters meanwhile they do have schedules to adhere to. You can even see the cast member support signal to the women speaking out loud to come ahead/follow along. Rapunzel then gets to a certain point and turns around and interacts just as the video is cut off. I think it’s more likely this is just bad cast member management vs flagrant racism. Either way the optics of the situation will show it in a different light.
Agree!! How awful of the mom to tell her kids they’re being ignored “like the Elmo incident” (it was Rosita BTW) when this isn’t racism it’s definitely the cast member motioning for them to keep it moving with them and then in a new spot Rapinzel stops and clearly interacts with kids of color and then this conveniently cuts off (clearly she interacted with the two black kids but the mom wasn’t fame and money saying racism) not buying it been there 130x and kid worked there, as a princess, they have such a hard time seeing everyone and aren’t allowed to stand for too long it’s Florida in summer in costumes they need to keep it moving and they’re always taught to be kind to all people
I honestly don’t see anything wrong besides two obnoxious kids shouting at Rapunzel and ruining other families picture time. You can see in the video one of the girls runs up to Rapunzel while she’s interacting with another kid then proceeds to run in front of the camera when the picture is taken. How ironic that they stop recording once Rapunzel acknowledges them.
The moms obnoxious and clearly trying to stoke racism. Considering I’m POC, I find it offensive she’s using real racism in a not racist situation to get social media likes!
It all depends on what shade of those rose-colored glasses you’re wearing. Characters are not required to interact with every single guest that asks them to stop. They have schedules that they need to adhere to and you can clearly see that as they stop again later on to interact with the couple. You can also see in the video that the cast member support is making motions to the couple to follow. This happens all the time. You see videos of little children being ignored by the characters as they walk by. This is the case of better interaction and communication is needed by the employees here.
Im confused as to what the he’ll some of yall are talking about. Obviously need a stronger prescription for your glasses if you can see that after interacting with the other children, Rapunzel turned her back on the black children. If she had an itinerary or schedule to follow, then she wouldnt have stopped again near the end of the video to greet other children. Even with evidence some of you are still blind to rascism. Even if the kids were obnoxious, characters are trained to handle all children across the spectrum. They are taught to redirect and de-escalate. So there’s honestly no excuse. Out of all the children they see in the park, this is there first encounter with some that are roudy? Higly doubt it. Yall can support her all yall want, but regardless, she’s fired.
“If she had an itinerary or schedule to follow, then she wouldnt have stopped again near the end of the video to greet other children.”
They make stops frequently at various places in the park area during their very short outings. The character actors are swapped out frequently during the day. They basically have a “path” they walk and interact along the path during a set period. Most of the time you’ll see the characters wave vs a full on interaction.
Stacy, exactly she had plenty of time to stop and say hi to these kids. The fact she ignored them purposely is inexcusable, it’s tiring and sicking that in this day and age people still make a thousand excuses for in your face racism.
I’m a black woman, I know it’s not racism and you’re what causes it because you want it to be racist to further a narrative that has validity but not in this case!
Give me a break. I’ve seen cast members walk by numerous kids when they have a schedule to keep. This isn’t racism. My daughter was ignored by 2 of them 4 years ago because the characters were ready for breaks AT SPECIFIC TIMES. Doesn’t matter who is there. Everyone now wants special treatment & if they don’t get it then they look for an angle & pop it off on social media to get people to stand behind them. Remember this, racism is taught. It’s not genetic.
You should rewatch the video in more detail. The moment the family says “excuse me sir”, the cast member support looks, acknowledges, and motions to the family to come closer. Cast member support then grabs Rapunzel attention, Rapunzel then turns around and interacts with the family and video is cut without showing interaction. I think if there was any racism here, the family would have been continued to be ignored whereas the cast member support would have not responded when she said “excuse me sir” or interactions there of derogatory towards the family.
Earlier at the beginning of the video, the family enters into engagements that are already in process. And before the family even arrives, the (who I assume is their mother) states you have to get in line she believes. By now the cast member support is already moving Rapunzel further along.
As I said before these characters are on schedules and cannot stay in one location just meeting and greeting everybody.
The employees are in the wrong, pure and simple for not communicating properly to the family. Look at the family that has asked if there was a line? And they respond; “I don’t know we’re all just standing here”. That does not constitute racism alone. This was a poorly managed character interaction. Even the location alone isn’t an area I’d recommend interactions to take place, so I’m surprised there as well.
Disney handled this wrong. Period. You don’t need to be of any particular ethnicity to see that.
That’s what most don’t realize how it works. Your paying ticket doesn’t guarantee you an experience. However tho, the Disney staff here could have communicated that to the family. So now you get the bad optics of the situation.
I think regardless of the situation, both cast members have likely lost their jobs if not now but in the future. Disney does not leave much room open when it comes to situations like this.
You’re just as much of a bigot as they are. Maybe if everybody condemned this type of behaviour it would stop happening in a particular community. As long as people keep making excuses for these people, it’ll never stop.
Wrong! What will happen is people will get tired of petty stories like this-where they’re looking for a payday. When the real ones come along people will ignore them. I guess we didn’t learn from the little boy who cried Wolf story as a child, did you?!
How long was the little girl supposed to run after her!
She didn’t make any of the white children run after her! She stopped for them!
It’s funny how you are making excuses for bad behavior!
There is always an excuse!
Wrong! Those kids were Latino not white that she stopped for as the handler motioned for the two black kids to come over but conveniently the video cuts out at that time. Mother wants fame and money from Disney .
I think it’s time that these parks end the crowd interactions. Do the parade but rope off the sides so no one can run up, then no one can be racist or be accused of being racist if they make a mistake because no one gets a hug. If they really want guests to have an experience with the cast, set up a booth with revolving characters throughout the day where parents can wait in line so their kid can get their 1 min of character time.
Personally, if I were one of the characters I would only interact with the kids who wait patiently. My kids know that if they’re pushy, rude, or obnoxious I will automatically say no to whatever they want until they act right. I’m no different with other people’s kids.
When she put Black Lives Matter across the video her credibility went way down before I watched it. Then you go to social media with vulgar language and flashing middle fingers and that tells me all that I need to know.
Exactly and I’m black and I was pissed when I saw that and listened to her. She’s trying to create the Sesame Place experience for her kids and she tells them Disney is racist. Way to get their minds in the right mindset about the world. This is why racism continues on both sides.
I went to Disneyland a couple
Times in the past year I can tell you this happens all the time regardless of your skin color the reason is the cast members have to walk around they are not meant to stop and create a crowd they have meet and greets for that everyone is dying for their 15 minutes of victimhood. Stop posting your stupid videos your lives might matter but your stupid opinion does not.
This happens all the time at Disney parks. It’s not a race thing. This poor performer is now being slandered all over the internet. You think she would have intentionally done this and risked this exposure? Disney employees realize there are cameras everywhere.
I’m skeptical to call this a racism issue. I understand the frustration, but calling this a race issue marginalizes the real racism issues that people face everyday.
This! We cannot achieve progress via our politics when good people are accused of being racist, or worse, of being a white supremacist. We must root out racism where it exists. It is very hard to do when we spend so much time accusing others when they are not racists. Such accusations poison our politics and drive us apart rather than bring us together.
Wow “Eric,” thanks for sharing your bigoted views. You’ve helped to prove that racism is still alive and well. I bet your parents are proud… As for the rest of us, we hope you haven’t created any “brats” of your own.
Yet another day at DeepPocketsLand ruined by a some ParticipationTrophyists hounding DeepPocketLand characters until one can be made to appear racist. How many attempts did that take?Did you hire a lawyer before or after buying your tickets? Of course the parents wanted to find the whitest character for their psuedo morality play as that will play on The Gram Baby, The Gram. 10 extra points for Slytherin for adding Black Lives Matter!
The Gram Baby, The Gram. Are we asking for nuisance suit money, I wouldn’t bother with the Supreme Court right now, probably wouldn’t go your way! Nope, probably not, nuisance money it is then. Maybe free tickets so you can try again another day?! Or better still spend quality time with your children.

If you watch the whole video, after the cast member passes on she is clearly interacting with children of color.

We incentivized mob behavior for kids who don’t get to interact with a character. Expect parks to limit encounters as a result.
If you’ve ever been to Disneyland or world pre-pandemic you know getting the interaction is 60/40 maybe 70/30 unless you wait in line.
