How about when guests ask cast members legitimate questions and the cast member is clueless because they are not properly trained when they are hired.
My biggest example of this:
We were annual park holders and we were visiting Disneyland. The Mark Twain was closed and the Rivers of America was drained. We were in line for Casey Jr Circus Train and we asked the cast member if she knew when the Mark Twain would be re-opening. She looked at us with a blank look on our face and said “What’s the Mark Twain”. So my significant other said “On the Rivers of America” she still had a blank look on her face. “The paddlewheel boat” was the next thing my significant other said. Finally I said “the white boat they use in Fantastic” it was like a light bulb in her head finally lit up and she says “I don’t know”. She could have said that to begin with.
Also there was the time I saw people walking around with red frozen beverages. The guy at the frozen lemonade stand insisted to me that it was frozen lemonade with flavor shots in it. I told him it was all red and he said I was mistaken. I asked if they sold frozen beverages other than lemonade in the park and he said no. We stopped near It’s A Small World to get a bottle of water out, and I turned around and there is a frozen drink stand.
I know Disney trains their cast members, but they still feel clueless when you ask them questions about the park.
I used to work at a local Walmart. I couldn’t tell you anything about the grocery section when I was in the tire and lube section. Just because someone works someplace doesn’t mean they are obsessive about knowing every little thing. For a lot of people it is just a job like any where else.
