This is an actual world problem? Go to Ukraine for a month or even the southern U.S. border to see what real problems are! The real problem with Disney is the highway robbery to both enter and eat in the parks.
Y’know, it’s a dangerously thin line between race-warriors going after easy low-hanging Disney “Mulan should be true Asian and Pocahontas should be true native!” fruit…
And the story of that one old creepy-stalker guy who had to be banned from the park after he got a little too personally upset that the Snow White character’s eyes were blue, not canonical brown.
Should but they don’t. In a wonderful perfect world that would be nice. I’m sure Disney try’s to keep it as close as possible with the personal they have. I’m sure these girls eventually find other things to do (that pay better) and move on.
I’m offended that Maleficent isn’t portrayed by an actual fairy/dragon or that Stitch isn’t an actual alien inside that costume! And don’t even get me started on the Santa Clauses at the world showcase in December!
I don’t know where she’s been going, but it isn’t Disney… because modern Disney does hire diverse face characters. If they’re not dark enough for you or ethnic enough for you… that sounds like a stereotype problem you have. People of all ethnic backgrounds come in all shades.
The thing is that people like this TikTok poster are usually the most racist people around. They use posts like this for attention and to try to prove they are not racist, when in fact it’s the opposite.
Met Pocohantus before and she looked native. Met Tiana and she was black. Met Alladin and the Princess. She was complection correct. The problem was the person bit the cast member.
I hope she ends up having 6 children just like her! Think of how many times they will repeat her words……”I want, I want, I want, I want, I want!” Still holding a grudge I imagine from her failed try-out for a “Princess” role. Don’t think she realized they also interview you and her negative attitude got her 👎👎👎👎👎👎!
First of all the physical attributes thing at the end was stupid, kids don’t care and people need jobs so long as they act like the princess that’s good enough. Also I don’t agree fully with what she said about ‘white’ princesses of colour but I will say during off season, the amount of bothers disney gives drops substantially. Being told about the history of African/Norwegian/British traditions by people from Georgia/Tennessee is weird and I can also say that I’ve absolutely taken my little cousins for a meet and greet and come face to face with a latina Tiana.
Diversity matters and so does accurate representation. Races are not interchangeable. But Disney knows this now. They are accurate most of the time that I’ve seen. Sometimes things happen, I’d rather the characters be there than not at all. So long as they are almost always racially accurate to me that’s okay.
It matters because for me, as a little non-white girl seeing Jasmine as the first non-white princess made me feel that even I could be a princess. It made me feel like I could do anything. That’s an important feeling for kids to feel. Jasmine wasn’t even my race but I was too young to care, we had a similar skin tone and as far as I was concerned we looked similar. I think she misses the point on why accuracy matters and why diversity matters.
I think Brooke has it right. It’s “Her problem” and nobody else’s. Let’s hope Disney does not continue to listen to the “wokeness nonsense of peabrains”, like many of their cast members, particularly in tge film studio.
I’m sure her co-workers watching from the office windows can’t wait for her to come inside after witnessing her working herself into a frenzied state. Something tells me she guards her Swingline with the razor edge of those nails.
What a nut. Any grown woman calling people in princess costumes “my babe” and “queen” needs professional help. They aren’t real! To moan about their lack of racial accuracy, on TikTok especially, just makes her look like a brat, a very racist brat. Get a grip lady and Disney should ignore her and anyone like her. The fact that this website considers this news is pretty crazy too. I keep the site around now for laughs. How can anyone take this nonsense seriously?
It was right in the title. That means you chose to waste your time by clicking on the link. And the you wasted even more of it by commenting. Again, by choice…
In the movie remake the girl playing Ariel is going to be black girl. And in the new Snow White has also cast a person of dark skin. Disney is just doing as they want and totally remaking all the classic movies over. I mean who has ever heard of Snow White and no Dwarfs and no prince it is just not Snow White give the movie a different name.
Agreed, I don’t have anything against diversity in media. I think it has been refreshing seeing actors of certain ethnicities portraying characters that either match or come pretty darn close to that ethnicity. The Little Mermaid actress in the live action adaptation does even come close resembling the one portrayed in the animated counterpart. Not to mention, Hans Christian Anderson’s fairytales took place primarily in and around the region of the British Isles. I’m sure Hallie Bailey is wonderful actress, she’s got the pipes for the role of Ariel. Each princess, has been represented fairly consistently as of late, across all platforms, live action, animated, and within the parks. But the casting of Bailey is puzzling and I can only assume that execs choose Bailey to appease those who take issue with the apparent lack of diversity.
I’m Latina and I was a Disney Princess. Jasmine was the only role I could play back in 2000. I’m a fair skinned latina but have ethnic nose. I tanned by choice and did my best to represent the character. It’s a job and you go through castings and sometimes not enough people are found so think of that. They need to fill the jobs to make the magic happen.
I am a grown up Disney fan ,yes I love seeing the princess and characters. Why when I first started going to WDW in 86 didn’t have a lot of “meet n greets”. Live action films of Disney movies are great yet too a point… I just wish people would get over the shaming/blaming game.
Look at the new Snow White movie, Classics are being destroyed. Cannot keep the story the way it was written. Cinderella is another Princess changed in movies.
just because they’re making new movies doesn’t mean they’re destroying the old ones we still can buy them we still have them we still can watch them i’m working concerned with them trying to destroy them like some of the south
Where in the south are we doing that? Meanwhile I hear of the left banning or “cancelling” books like Dr Seuss, to kill a mockingbird and many more all over.
Hey Clown!
Cinderella’s been made 20 times since 1911. All with WHITE PEOPLE. They finally add a POC to break up the monotony and white people panties get in a bunch. Get over it. It’s a new day at Disney.
As they should.
Because that cartoon technically ain’t Disney. They bought it, so that makes it theirs. So they can change whatever they see fit to change.
This is a Prime case of why we DO NOT TAKE TIC TOC’s seriously. She just some Child that does not believe in EQUALITY we are all created equal, SEGREGATION and racist identity was abolished in the 60s yet there are some desperately trying to bring it back , we have moved on .
Disney is an Entertainment business that employ’s all walks of life to perform all different aspects of the entertainment industry and it’s a common practice throughout the industry , those who are the best fit and represent what there image there looking for to entertain there audience.

I don’t think anyone has the right to dictate who should be portraying a Disney Character. They don’t know what’s happening behind the scenes, maybe the regular person who portrayed the character is sick or had a death in the family. Children usually don’t care or sometimes don’t even notice. These young woke people should keep their opinions to themselves. Opinions are like belly buttons, everyone has one. Stop hate !

Literally they’re casting Latinos as Cinderella (a blonde white princess) an African American as Ariel… I believe they have a Latino as snow white coming up here…. Literally who CARES? The fact this is this Brooke persons BIGGEST anxiety in life say more about her than who Disney casts. Must live a pretty privileged life is this bothers you that much
I saw an Ariel at Magic Kingdom with an Adam’s apple. No joke. He never spoke. Go figure that out. People were laughing and making comments to each other in line and some got out of line. Strange things are afoot at the Circle K, people.
Seriously?! Disney hired a black Ariel for the official movie (not just for the parks) thus wiping out part of MY culture and expressly called anybody who didn’t approve a racist. Now they’re calling it racist to hire a white actress for Jasmine just for the parks after pulling that?! Oh the hypocrisy.
It’s not racist to want the characters who are supposed to represent you to look like you. Forget the “woke” stuff for a moment please. There are only a handful of diverse characters so representation is important. I’m Black Indigenous and it’s disappointing not to see a Native playing Pocahontas or a lighter skinned Tiana. I’m sure it’s disappointing to see a White Jasmine instead of a middle eastern Jasmine. I think Disney should do better because it’s part of the magic for some of us.
Brooke needs to get a grip not everyone is cut out to be a Disney character! Disney is truly to pick the best of the best and truly from there to tab them appropriately if they are not already the trace they are supposed to be representing! But geez girl you can please everyone at everything at all times that’s called fantasy land! But of course you believe that’s the way life should reflect that’s all you’ve been told but then the real world becomes a shock I guess that’s why your generation needs your safe spaces and cuddle lama’s.. ugh! Get a life there’s so much more to gripe about in this world, how about the kids two blocks over from you who don’t have enough to eat!
Yet no one gets mad that the new little mermaid isn’t a white chick with her iconic bright red hair.
I thought ‘anyone could be a princess’. I would think actors would be chosen that come from the same ethnicity so they can represent. But the actress was probably thrilled to be given the part for abit, and children don’t discriminate like ‘You’ obviously do.
Ariel is always the worst example to argue on when it comes to “representation”. She’s a mythical creature lol
If anyone wants to actually have this disagreement they should really use a proper example lol
Anyone calling this lady a racist is the true racist. She is right!!! I agree with her, our ladies of color are not represented well in movies and to take away the few characters they have is wrong. To the person who says white women are the hardest working and poc are lazy please stop showing your true self, its racist and needs works.
Before you go and say that why don’t you research the standards that disney has on their princesses and for minimal pay. It’s a matter of how many “colored” people apply for the roles and how many fit disneys impossible standards which most white women don’t even fit the bill most of the time. Furthermore anyone who sees just color is a racist plain and simple. That is the definition of racism
Fun fact: Jasmine is Persian, Persian is a subgroup of Caucasian, Caucasian is what we colloquially refer to as “white.” Casting a white actress to play Jasmine is lore-accurate to the character.
As someone who currently works at the WDW and also works in entertainment I can honestly say she isn’t entirely wrong.
Disney does have an issue with not always representing the characters to their actual background.
Pocahontas is a prime example as many guests are fooled into thinking that the woman portraying her does indeed have some kind of Native/Indigenous background when in reality it’s sometimes just some pretty, tall white girl who got spray-tanned.
Maybe this is why I avoid tictoc like the plague? She wasted a lot of her life even creating it! The characters are animated. Finding their human counterparts is extremely difficult and what happens when the original princess leaves without notice? Don’t get me wrong? I will not visit Disney until it corrects it’s many issues including “wokeness” that’s is destroying splash mountain!! But Disney has it’s hands full in a government that still has high unemployment numbers and keeps paying potential employees to stay home!!!
Agreed the wokeness is absolutely insane. And if you’re interested you should see the requirements disney has for their actors. Especially the princesses. It’s already difficult enough to fill those roles due to impossible requirements, and even more so with the unemployment rate and the standards they have it’s no wonder why the roles are filled with whomever gets the part because it is difficult to get it
Well sweetheart we can’t always get what you want know can we? When you get use to seeing a certain race or nationally that’s what makes the world go round everybody is no going to look the same.
The entire design of ACTING is being able to portray yourself as something you’re not. This complaint is not acting .. it’s just entitled and irrelevant.
I think that the princesses are very close to their character. I feel articles like this just stirs up the pot. If a little girl identifies with a princess she obviously knows what she actually looks like.
Being upset about a person skin color is the definition of racism… She sounds like a Karen to me. Not that I back Disney in anything they do, they are evil incarnate, however this woman is a racist.
Really?! People can’t pay their bills or buy food and you are complaining that Disney princesses aren’t the right color?! You should be grateful you can afford to even go to Disney!! I feel there are much more serious problems in the world then the color of a Disney princess. Grow up!!
OMG you really have no life it’s all good when a different color person plays a white princess but horrible wrong if a white person plays a different color princess let me help you all out get up off your couch and go out side once you do that then you can figure out on how to get a life

Had enough of people
Agreed the wokeness is absolutely insane.

Ryan
The entire design of ACTING is being able to portray yourself as something you’re not. This complaint is not acting .. it’s just entitled and irrelevant.

I think that the princesses are very close to their character. I feel articles like this just stirs up the pot. If a little girl identifies with a princess she obviously knows what she actually looks like.
Had enough of people
Being upset about a person skin color is the definition of racism… She sounds like a Karen to me. Not that I back Disney in anything they do, they are evil incarnate, however this woman is a racist.
Candice
I believe that Disney does what they can. That is all I have to say! People are so petty!
Giin
Well, considering Jasmine is a Persian name, and persian/iranian is part of the Caucasian group of ethnicities, also known as “white…”
Tysha
Why this white girl so upset? She thinks it’s Hollywood budget movie casting?
Cb
Fun fact….
People from the middle east are actually considered white by America…
The Caucasus region is at the edge of eastern Europe and Asia…
Race stuff in America is soo weird compared to the rest of the world…
Bella
Really?! People can’t pay their bills or buy food and you are complaining that Disney princesses aren’t the right color?! You should be grateful you can afford to even go to Disney!! I feel there are much more serious problems in the world then the color of a Disney princess. Grow up!!
Steve
Does she have any problems with them using a African American playing Ariel ?
Lol
OMG you really have no life it’s all good when a different color person plays a white princess but horrible wrong if a white person plays a different color princess let me help you all out get up off your couch and go out side once you do that then you can figure out on how to get a life
