They just continue to post false information. It has been pointed out multiple times that this is not an opening day resort. But they do not edit the content of their writers. They just keep letting them post this drivel.
“Opening day?” Who writes this stuff? 1971 versus 1988 is a stretch even for a delayed “opening.” We were there in 1972 and there was no Grand Floridian. Between the stupid amount of copying and pasting done on this we site and all the other errors, I think they need to start paying for better writers. God knows there’s enough ads to work toward that.
The Grand Floridian is a Victorian themed hotel and Beaty and the Beast takes place in the 17th century. That’s worse than Frozen being a Danish fairytale in the Norway pavilion. I can only imagine the horror Chaepek, who seems to hate consistent theming, is going to bring forth when he achieves his dream of destroying the beautiful lobby. We’ve seen the horrible tower taking over the Poly.
Hilarious how people keep trying to call Grand Floridian the “flagship resort”. Wasn’t lose to opening day. Wasn’t a themed resort Walt wanted around the Seven Seas Lagoon.
Polynesian, Contemporary, and Fort Wilderness campgrounds we’re part of his vision and had major opening events. Polynesian even had a working wave machine in the lagoon. Incredible opening event held there with many stars in attendance.
Contemporary was a ridiculous $29/night to stay at on opening day. Those were the days.

Cheapek won’t rest until all of Disney is generic, woke trash.

This was not an opening day resort.

Pretty sure the GF was not part of opening day. I think it opened in 198&.

Strong agree. 1988 not 1971. Bad, bad error.
Chef Dion
NOT am opening day resort. It opened in 1988 a full 17yrs later. May want to do some fact checking.

Absolutely correct! It was the Contemporary followed by the Polynesian. I was there!
