Disneyland is no longer a family place. Poor security and expensive. If you you just love the “fight club “ experience, then it’s a perfect bucket list destination.
99.9% of the people complaining about battery life, are the people who are taking it out of the box, and using it right away. Do you know as well as I do that these things do not come charged 100%. You have to take it home, let it charge overnight and it should be good to go. bugs are to be expected, and I’m certain that software that syncs up with the show will be corrected. But the battery issue is very fixable. Charge it before you use it.
Purchased two bands at MK on day of release (7/27) – one for my daughter and one for me. 100% charged out of box btw. Battery life was poor both days (charged overnight for day two). We used a charging port which helped but bands were also buggy. Mine worked for MK fireworks and daughter’s did not (day one); her band worked at Epcot and mine did not on day two. Yes, expected with new software but three stops to Guest Services in two days. We have used our (original?) bands since 2016 which still work fine for now – husband did not want the new band and stayed with his OG both days. At least we saved $45 on that. 😉 I’m not looking for controversial comments – only trying to help those considering making this purchase. My experience is that the product is still too buggy and recommend waiting. Enjoy your Disney experience! 🙂
Hi Robin, Thank you for your assessment. I think you answered several questions and put to rest another commenters comments about battery life being an operator error.
I have a different question for people to ponder. Why do we need to have all this extra “entertainment” to experience life? I mean why are we not enjoying the fireworks and the shows as presented in the moment? Is it too difficult to stop and smell the flowers without first getting an experience incorporated with some piece of technology? Technology has it place but what I see is that it is being forced into places it shouldn’t be. For those into the technology so much when visiting the parks let me as some questions. When was the last time you noticed the hairy leg on the pirate sitting on the bridge in Pirates of the Caribbean? Or did you notice that while in liberty square there is a unique feature running along the walk way? How about the the sleeping monk in Spaceship Earth is actually snoring? What about the figures on the clock in Germany? Here is one that I believe has been changed now but use to be a regular item: did you know that at Casey’s Corner there is a unique (at least use to be) light bulb in the red and white perimeter lights? these are just some things that i feel we miss when we spend the entire time in our technology and not looking at the things around us.
I’m glad you found my reply helpful, Donna – enjoy your trip! And Tim, you’re right about technology – I’m not a fan of Genie+ in general and prefer the former (free) fast pass option. But I don’t think that the bands increase tech dependence (Genie+ does). The bands mostly assist with park/LL admission/access. They interact with the statues throughout the park, much like MyPal Mickey did in 2005-2007 (my daughter enjoyed that as a toddler). My daughter is an older teen and I hear what you’re saying about technology, but did not find the bands distracting and still discovered some hidden gems this trip even with the bands. ✌🏼
I think I’m somewhat tech savvy. And being a dvc member since 99, I’ve had bands before and no problem.3rd day at wdw. And been to sericee desk at parks and hotel since we got here 3 days ago
Not only it keeps dropping sync to my phone. I get closed out at the parks and lose every day ability to charge. App and bands stink.
Most dissatisfied with it all. Plus locked out if room every day. Yes I charge my band every day

Just another product that has the Midas touch. “Gold” does not work for everything. Disney needs to stop trying to fix what ain’t broke.
