At will employment rules are followed by most States, which means employees can resign or be fired for any reason, with a few exceptions. The only rule is that termination needs to be legal and does not involve retaliation or discrimination of any kind by the employer.
Hostile work environment is a terminable offense. Contact your union to file grievance for wrongful termination. Also, there are always two sides to a story…
Woman gets man fired because he made her feel uncomfortable but when she gets fired for the same reason it’s suddenly unfair. Life lesson don’t do that ish.
This story is what’s wrong with countries like the USA: people using social media against others, on private matters, making claims public in order to gather public opinion or persuasion on a non-public issue, a private matter open to public debate. This behaviour is crossing a line and it’s being led by the USA. Where else is this behaviour so commonplace now?
The first generation dealing with social media will be the hardest. Too many folks use it for evil, not good. Yes, there is good out there in cyber space. I’ve been introduced to so many amazing creative people all over the world. More challenging to create than to destroy…
Contacting HR, the ones who most likely made the call to let her go isn’t the way. She needs a lawyer, HR just wiped their hands with no evidence from her end.
By going on social media and looking for a response it is similar to making an accusation about an actor or actress and having people pick a side before they know all the facts. She stated that there was a coworker that made her and other coworkers feel uncomfortable, she or they reported it and this person was fired. Now she is saying that he vowed to get her and her friends fired and he succeeded. So my question is when this young man or individual was in the process of being fired is that when he made statements about her and then in return she was fired? Was it days or weeks after he was fired that he made that accusation because if that’s the case I would think they would have looked into it a little bit more and figured out that he was just trying to retaliate. If it was customers it’s easy to find a connection between the complaining customers and the fired individual to see if this was something he set up. But going on social media she definitely was looking for sympathy and hoping that Disney would see it and see the comments in support of her and take her back. If she was fired due to some set up by the other individual then she should’ve reached out to the union first, given them her statement and have them look into it.
At this point even if they looked into it due to the fact that she went on social media and complained I highly doubt she’ll get her job back. At this point for them it’s not worth the trouble. Which is why they probably fired her in the first place.
” I show up to work, I do my job. I filed a complaint against a cast member, he was terminated. Now people don’t feel comfortable around me, and they fire me too.” Karma is the first thing that comes to mind. Obviously, the terminated cast member has friends. When you throw someone under the bus, rule of thumb, you watch your back. It’s one thing to defend yourself against someone for the sake of better work conditions, but by doing that you set the bar of expectations for that person’s friends and all other cast members in your area. A bar that those cast members now expect you to meet. Otherwise, you’re the pot calling the kettle black. Missing pieces of the puzzle; Is she still on probation? Have there been previous documented conversations, disciplines? A documented history of “stirring the pot”? Was a shop steward present at ANY conversations between her and management? The management team at the Emporium, does not fire someone just because someone doesn’t like you. They go through legal steps with HR prior to taking any steps.
Awwwww. Boo hoo. People are fired all the time for no reason. You are not special. If you really think you were wrongfully terminated go find an employment lawyer don’t cry about it on TikTok
WOW!!! 8 years ago a similar situation happened with me at the Disneyland Resort. I was accused of taking pictures of myself “Onstage” by another cast member that worked at Goofys Flight School while I was at the frozen lemonade cart in California Adventure in what use to be Paradise Pier. I had never been in trouble for an incident like taking pictures onstage because I had never done it because the pier costume at that time was horrible and wasnt a flattering costume to wear, and I actually followed the rules and guidelines that we were suppose to follow. There was no proof to show that I did what was said, they didn’t look at cameras just took the word of another cast member from another location that,at the time, the Quick Service employees had issues with. The Goofy Flight School cast members didn’t like us and we didn’t like them. I was suspended without warning for 2 weeks. I was told to come to work and meet with one of my managers at Harbor Pointe to “Talk” about what happened, wasn’t told to bring back all my Disney owned possessions i.e: Costumes, locks, name tags etc, and was basically fired on the spot while the manager that suspended me for the false accusations walked past with her head down and ignored me and the other manager. I then went to the union and filed a complaint of wrongful termination. I had everything set,the day before me and the union rep was suppose to meet with the Ops manager and my location manager,Disney had my union rep changed and replaced with 2 reps that knew nothing about what happened. I tried to get a lawyer to sue for wrongful termination, but it seems like some lawyers are scared to go after Disney. Disney can be a great place to work, but to be honest they have some dispicable people that work for them. I hope this young lady goes after them. BTW I still have all the Disney owned possessions in my closet from the last day I worked there.
Comments for Disney Fires Cast Member With NO Warning, Leaves Her Shocked and In Tears

Please look at getting a wrongful termination lawyer they can help you

Florida is a right to work state, they don’t have to give you a reason, which sucks but that’s how it is.
Kevin
This happened at DisneyLAND in California. Not Florida. CA labor laws might be different since they love their wacky laws in that state.
Gavin
So wacky! We all need a little wackiness in our life. Wouldn’t live anywhere else. Today Cali, tomorrow the nation! See you at the beach…

Chris
There are exceptions here because there is a union and contracts involved that limit the reasons they can fire someone.

YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO FACE YOUR ACCUSERS. GET A LAWYER.
Roc
Maybe in a criminal court, but nowhere else.

Definitely get a lawyer. Your circumstances happen all the time across all companies.

Woke-ism: Being guilty before proven innocent.
But if found innocent you have white privilege, whether you’re white or not.
