The fan in his headpiece that circulates the air for the performer stop working. I do costumes like this and it happened me. He was brushing his handkerchief in the beginning of the video try to get “Peter’s ” attention but Peter was talking to kids. Then it was realized so the played along with let’s play hide and seek so hook could leave but the heat exhation brought on by the fan malfunctioning made him so symptomatic he couldn’t walk straight and stumbled into a child while trying to run to a staff member nearby. He looks back at Peter and Wendy and they say “we’ll have to play another time” and hook puts his hand on Peter as Peter leads him out because he can’t walk straight. I’ve had the same thing happen to me only at a mall and the kids were behind a fencing .
Nobody enjoys seeing a Cast Member get injured in costume … I need to see this video footage from different angles, it does look like whomever was portraying Captain Hook injured themselves (that’s a workplace injury so I hope they get compensated and get well soon!) but I’m left wondering if they hurt their lower back and their head (or if they were also experiencing dehydration).
That’s just stupid, why would they have left when a kid started crying because they got injured. If you notice, Hook is holding his back the whole way to the backstage. He got injured when he tripped.

As someone who has thrown their back out at Disneyland when a ride (Peter’s Pan’s Flight) broke down, you are left with the awkward problem of what do you do next. I hope whatever the reason Captain Hook had to call an emergency that he is okay.
It looks like when Hook started running away to hide, he inadvertently bumped into a kid and knocked him to the ground. You see a parent run to bend down and then hear a child start to cry. The weight of Hook’s head & falling forward when he instantly stopped couldn’t have felt good. The kids were swarming around and Hook couldn’t see all around him. The diversion to play hide and seek is a tactic needed to stop signing autographs, stay in character and keep pedestrian traffic moving.

That’s not what happened. Watch the video and turn the audio up. Around 1 min in, Hook goes to hide and knocks a kid over and the kid starts crying. That’s why they stopped. He was presumably embarrassed and/or felt bad about it. You can hear Peter tell him it’s okay. The cast member recording says “I’m sorry, I hope he’s okay!” as they walk away. It was about the child, not Hook. Why would you publish this with your own made up narrative about it. So weird.

Hook bumps into a kid when he starts to run off to hide, that’s when he goes back and gives the signal shortly after, you hear a little kid crying and someone saying “I hope he’ll be alright/ok”. A mistake of bumping into a kid can happen with those suits limiting the members view so it happens.

I can clearly tell that this was no trip and he ran into a small child which was just below camera frame. You can hear the child start to cry as a parent rushes in to their aid. You can hear someone telling them it’s okay. Hook was clearly embarrassed and felt terrible that they hurt a child and wanted to quickly retreat.

I use to work with those same costumes. If the fan jams or runs out of battery you over heat very quickly. I was at an indoor mall and almost passed out after 15 minutes. He had the distress signal down pat. He used it, they played along, he was stumbling so bad for heat exhaustion he couldn’t walk straight and ran into a child. His arm was on Peter pan as they walked away. So having been through this myself it was obvious within 15 minutes of your fan jamming your not getting the circulated air to keep cool. You over heat very quickly and it was clear he was starting to panic, likely whispering to Wendy that it’s serious and she plays along smiling as to not worry the children.
That is why the “hide and seek was suggested” its an excuse to get hook over to the handler for the characters who was in the direction hook was headed.
Safety to cast members and guests are paramount. It is good that Disney has these systems in place. There are probably many protocols that Disney has. It would be nice if Disney could provide more housing to cast members near the parks so it wouldn’t be so expensive for them. Even dorm rooms.
Watch closely Hook turns to go hide. He accidently collided w/ a kid. He hurried back to Peter & Wendy, but you can hear the child crying & being talked with in the background. It seems logical for Hook to want to safely exit if there would be need to ensure the child was okay, etc before appearing in public again. I’m sure Hook felt horrible

The fan in his headpiece that circulates the air for the performer stop working. I do costumes like this and it happened me. He was brushing his handkerchief in the beginning of the video try to get “Peter’s ” attention but Peter was talking to kids. Then it was realized so the played along with let’s play hide and seek so hook could leave but the heat exhation brought on by the fan malfunctioning made him so symptomatic he couldn’t walk straight and stumbled into a child while trying to run to a staff member nearby. He looks back at Peter and Wendy and they say “we’ll have to play another time” and hook puts his hand on Peter as Peter leads him out because he can’t walk straight. I’ve had the same thing happen to me only at a mall and the kids were behind a fencing .

It looks like when Hook started running away to hide, he inadvertently bumped into a kid and knocked him to the ground. You see a parent run to bend down and then hear a child start to cry. The weight of Hook’s head & falling forward when he instantly stopped couldn’t have felt good. The kids were swarming around and Hook couldn’t see all around him. That’s not what happened. Watch the video and turn the audio up. Around 1 min in, Hook goes to hide and knocks a kid over and the kid starts crying. That’s why they stopped. He was presumably embarrassed and/or felt bad about it. You can hear Peter tell him it’s okay. The cast member recording says “I’m sorry, I hope he’s okay!” as they walk away. It was about the child, not Hook. Why would you publish this with your own made up narrative about it. So weird.

Regardless, it’s a ridiculous comment, and a perfect example of what is still wrong with the USA after more than 200 year’s of basic humane rights movements and society in general. Being a middle aged white man from a middle class white family and never ever witnessing any type of racism in my home and thinking that that was completely the norm and that that was what was going on in everyone’s homes also. Later I would learn that it was not the norm, and that some of my buddies grew up in a home where they heard all kinds of different racist comments thrown around by there own parents and relatives, and that it wasn’t just black people they were attacking and treating with absolutely 0 respect in front of there small children who would now also go thru Life doing the same type of racist bashing there parents taught them with there own kids!! This is a complete sole killing cycle that repeats itself and replenishes our society with new fresh racist people who think they were raised by very normal parents, and that that behavior is really what’s going on in everyone’s home. This is something I’ve seen and witnessed my entire damn life. This is the sole reason why it still exists today and unless we can brake this cycle somehow, it will always be here surrounding and circling us. I played many organized sports in my life from a very young age. My father coached our little league teams and coached me in my tennis career when I was very young also. I’ve also had many, many friends in my life and I’ve always had many black friends that were very special to me even at 8 years old. I remember 2 of my best friends growing up were black and that I never had any idea back then that I was getting strange looks or some whispering behind my back or mabey just being left out of some stuff and not being invited or included because of that. I know this was happening for sure, but, back then I was so far removed from anything that was racial, I never even recognized or saw any of it, till much later on. My black friends and I had many sleep overs many times at very early ages and nobody in my home ever acted any differently towards my black friends there, and when I stayed at his home I never felt or saw anything that was rasist or wrong going on there either. When I finally did start to experience rasism and start to see and recognize it all around me, I was completely shocked at first !!! Then I was so damn embarrassed and ashamed of all these white people and how they looked at my black friends and how they treated my black friends. Now I was angry about it, and felt powerless and alone. I remember secretly hating these people. But, now I was using this as a tool to pick my real friend’s and to get rid of the one’s who were like that. I’ve always been deeply ashamed of white people who are like this because I’m not like this at all and I never will be, so I’m totally not part of there Team !!! I’m 100% percent against everything these people represent !!! And, I’ve always felt ashamed of myself because im white and I can’t obviously separate myself from these people and make that very clear because being white is like wearing the bad guy’s uniform everyday even though you hate them !!!! It’s made me feel like I always needed to figure out how I could show or prove as fast as possible to my black friends that I’m not like them and I’m not on there team, I’m on your team, always. Please try and remember that so many of us white people love and respect all black people, or, Oriental people, or Jewish people and on and on ect……For most of us, we still haven’t figured out how to completely separate ourselves from these sick white race hater’s that continuely embarrass us and make us feel so ashamed. I can clearly tell that this was no trip and he ran into a small child which was just below camera frame. You can hear the child start to cry as a parent rushes in to their aid. You can hear someone telling them it’s okay. Hook was clearly embarrassed and felt terrible that they hurt a child and wanted to quickly retreat.

I use to work with those same costumes. If the fan jams or runs out of battery you over heat very quickly. I was at an indoor mall and almost passed out after 15 minutes. He had the distress signal down pat. He used it, they played along, he was stumbling so bad for heat exhaustion he couldn’t walk straight and ran into a child. His arm was on Peter pan as they walked away. So having been through this myself it was obvious within 15 minutes of your fan jamming your not getting the circulated air to keep cool. You over heat very quickly and it was clear he was starting to panic, likely whispering to Wendy that it’s serious and she plays along smiling as to not worry the children.

Safety to cast members and guests are paramount. It is good that Disney has these systems in place. There are probably many protocols that Disney has. It would be nice if Disney could provide more housing to cast members near the parks so it wouldn’t be so expensive for them. Even dorm rooms.
