    “On purpose”? No…
Sony’s desperation and utter naivety about their own post-Venom “popularity” is 100% genuine, organic and guileless.
And it would be almost sympathetic, if they didn’t ruin it with the Madame Web movie.

They just don’t know the difference between a fan meme and a kitsch meme, and, basically, “Our mom thought ‘It’s Morbin’ time!’ was cool…”
That, and they want a new franchise of Spiderman and related Marvel characters that they can make catch on by…licensing them to Disney-MCU crossovers.

Sony should immediately, without another thought, sell the rights to Spider-man and all related characters to Disney. They simply have no idea that the core MCU fanbase are the same as the Spider-man fanbase (which is almost everyone in the world now) drives ticket sales. They have no clue about what fans want. It’s not rocket science. Read some comic books. Look at the artwork. Watch MCU movies. Do yourselves a favor and make back your money and let Disney make the best Spider-man movies.

Sony, please! Just sell the Spider-Man rights back to Marvel!
