Obi turned out to be just another vehicle for implementing forced change by Kathy the Hutt. She’s been on a mission for years to rid Lucas Film of it’s “White Male” problem, looks like she’s still at it!

    1. Victor Nazarian

I can’t speculate too much on motivation but the Star Wars products are NOT up to normal Lucasfilm writing & production standards and the plot and characterizations are like something out of a bad dream. I have trouble believing Disney wants us to take it seriously or as cannon.

      1. Nicholas Fletcher

What characterizations? Obi Wan? That’s pretty accurate.

        1. TheBrownIsland

You are so Wrong. Adding Characters to make it look like the Real World isn’t considering a segment of the Population a Problem. The earlier years of casting & filming was during an Era of major Racism & Masoginy where actors the franchise felt would Not cost them revenue were chosen. At least they still had the 1 Guy Billie D. Williams and used James Earl Jone’s Voice as Darth Vader which was impressive for something so major.

The Franchise is under New people now like this Woman. They’re doing New things that many Fans don’t agree with, but they probably need to work more on the Storyline Not Characters. An actor is an Actor.

          1. TheBrownIsland

            Correction: “Misogyny”

      2. dAn1

Writing? If you like Star Wars for intelligent dialog, you haven’t gotten it for 45 years. Like Harrison Ford said, “You can write this stuff but you can’t say it.”

      3. Mike

It’s evident some here have been seduced by the dark side of the Force..

      4. R

You need to watch the prequels and read some Legends books if you think bad writing is new

    2. You're Stupid

Spoken like a stupid mouth-breathing incel.

      1. CalledIt

Their conservative christian white frailties jump off the page.

        1. LibsWearBibs

As does your racism and liberal insecurities towards anybody who doesn’t agree 100% with you. Every single one of your posts on here practically screams it.

          1. FU

That’s not racism you stupid Cuck. Grow up.

          2. LibsWearBibs

“Stupid cuck”? So I see you are just another person blind by hate like your buddy CalledIt.

          3. Evil fathwell

You just tried so hard to be an edgy troll and failed miserably hahaha

          4. R

Your racism and bigotry definitely jump off

          5. TheBrownIsland

Nothing Racist about that guy’s comment. The ignorance on what Racist is by Today’s Generation is hilarious. White Christian is a description. Saying a Color or the Word Race is Not racist. Pay attention to Context. That Word is thrown around so much where it doesn’t apply. To the point where it just loses its meaning.

      2. Wendi

I was born in 1977 so I grew up with these characters. I think some of us grew up and forgot/ lost our imagination! To me it’s cool to see Obi wan and what happened in between ROS and TFA. Stop putting agenda in everything.

    3. Nicholas Fletcher

Huh? None of that has happened. Got s pretty frail masculine ego don’t ya?

      1. Ash

Considering this show has been renewed for a 2nd season. I think it’s a little hasty with all of this nonsense. Like the the other article that said Leia was recast when the character was never portrayed as a child in the original trilogy.

    4. st

You’re just another pathetic incel who cant watch anything without counting the ethnicities of every character. Star Wars has always had one black human main character at a time. Mace Windu, Lando, Finn, now the main villain in this Kenobi series… which by the way has a white male protagonist. There was never aby indication the human race of Star Wars was your precious white ethnostate.

      1. Fergy

I should just stop reading these articles. I think the show is great, until I read an article about how terrible it is.

      2. Fergy

        Don’t forget about Jar Jar!

      3. KYS2022

Imagine being this mentally unstable. Ffs man, get a grip on your hatred.

      4. Evil fathwell

There are no “humans” in star wars wtf are you talking about?🤣 some of you have no clue wtf you’re talking about.

        1. Common Sense

Yes, there are humans in Star Wars. There are no “earthlings” though because galaxy far far away…

      5. maybeanyone

Liberals love using the word incel as if it’s a meaningful insult. Pathetic. No real argument just name calling. Can’t deny what is being said is true. Disney is forcing an agenda and is pumping out trash using the Star Wars name.

    5. John T Schmidt

He wasn’t replaced. Isaac’s voiced a cartoon. I don’t see why these fans are so invested in who voiced a character in the cartoons. Ewen McGregor didn’t voice Obi-Wan so should that actor be playing kenobi in the show? This is all so stupid. I am enjoying the show for what it is. Fun.

      1. FU

Alex Lue is a terrible writer, a stupid human being and honestly someone that isn’t worth hitting the breaks if he’s crossing in front of your car. He offers no redeeming value to life. Waste of a human.

      2. Bean

Thank you! Finally someone with actual sense. No one was “replaced.” SW fans are the absolute worst.

      3. Linh

Jason Isaac is a good actor. Why did they not keep him as the Grand Inquisitor? The other guy’s face looks nothing like him. His face is so rounded. The acting sucks too.

        1. R

You should see Christopher Lee in Clone Wars

    6. Karen

Your comment makes no sense since the guy in question is a white male.

    7. R

Shocking- toxic incel Star War fans ranting about nothing. Get over the changes losers.

    8. Jon

      Get over yourself 🤣

  2. Floyd

Jebus….. Star Wars self titled “hardcore fans” are the absolute worst…… All of these Disney plus shows are the best star wars content since the original trilogy. Just sit back and enjoy the effin show my dudes…..I feel sorry for y’all.

    1. Arianna

Personally I’ve lost faith In the fanbase rather then the shows. These parts of the fanbase is always so judgy and never likes what they get. Honestly I would just ingore people like that. Also attacking an actor just because you wanted another actor is absolutely inexcusable. His acting is pretty good anyway, if you got a problem with his look then suck it up. It’s too late to change it now.

    2. Kevin

Right?!? I really liked this site a year or so ago, but it has turned into a hive of scum & villainy (& not the fun kind). Think it’s time to block it from my Google News view.

    3. Ray

      Here, here…

    4. Hawkcam

So you consider randomly teleporting characters and the worst chase scenes ever recorded “the best Star Wars content since the original trilogy”? Seriously?🤨

      1. Emmett

Well, that’s like your opinion, man. That’s something ppl in fandoms forget. Liking something or not liking it is not a “fact.”

    5. R

Facts. They are easily one of the worst fan bases ever

      1. Thethoughtful1

        Worse than Raiders fans sheesh.

    6. Evil fathwell

      Shhhhh

  3. Nicholas Fletcher

These articles and their writers get worse all the time lol. Controversy didn’t “explode”, Hayden wasn’t slammed, these are three select tweets on the GI and only one is toxic, and the claim that “many have lost faith in the show” or that it has “low ratings” are just straight up factually incorrect statements

    1. CalledIt

They put too much stock into the frail white christian conservative “fans”.

      1. Arianna

Your contributing nothing to this debate. Stop being discriminatory.

      2. Tyler

I’m a white conservative Christian fan. I love the show. Not demographic problem.

        1. KevinS

Same here. I think the show has been pretty good so far. Pay no attention to CalledIt. He is exactly what he accuses everyone he doesn’t agree with on here, yet is too filled with hate to see it.

        2. Jj

You’re probably not frail and criticizing the series for some alleged anti white bias every five minutes

      3. LibsWearBibs

        Repeat yourself much, racist?

    2. JustMe V

Ok, I was honestly a little confused as I read this article. Because, I, and just about everyone I know have been Star Wars fans since the first original film opened in the theatres. We all LOVE this new Obi-wan series! I haven’t heard anyone IRL say anything other than, “it’s awesome!”

So, I really don’t get where these article writers are getting the idea that SW fans hate this series, or that ratings are low?! Personally, I don’t see how that’s possible, and I hope it’s not true.

      1. Hawkcam

Well, the 58% audience score on rotten tomatoes, and similar scores on other sites, are a pretty good indicator that a VERY large portion of the fanbase hate the show. Probably has something to do with Obi-Wan being a coward who can barely use the force anymore, the MULTIPLE continuity breaks in the first 3 episodes alone, the worst chase scenes ever recorded in cinematic history, and the randomly teleporting characters. There’s actually quite a lot to hate about this show.

        1. R

Too bad most of the low scores are bots

  4. Orrie

I am getting thoroughly disgusted with these stupid articles claiming “all” SW fans are hating this, that & the other about Mandolorian, Boba Fett & now Obi-Wan! NO WE DON’T!!! There are LOTS of us that are having a blast and enjoying the shows a lot. Yes, there’s some minor things that aren’t perfect but shoot none of the movies were perfect either! Even SW Episode III A New Hope had it’s fair share of really cheesy moments, bad cinematography, corny dialogue, etc, but we loved it because of the story and it’s imperfections. It was fun, THAT’S the ONLY thing that mattered about it. I still remember watching it at the drive-in as a little girl trying so hard not to fall asleep. Still one of my top 5 favorite movies ever to this day (Empire Strikes Back is close behind).

And to the idiots who keep slamming “white Christian” fans, we aren’t the ones screaming hate about the SW shows. Everyone in my church LOVES the shows and has zero issue with any of the casting choices. And no I don’t go to a watered down church, either.

I’m getting tired of the ones hollering about church folks being intolerant, being far more intolerant themselves.

EVERYONE STOP THE RIDICULOUS NAME CALLING AND ACT LIKE GROWN UP HUMAN BEINGS!!! EVERYONE IS ENTITLED TO THEIR OWN OPINIONS WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT SO QUIT BASHING EACH OTHER! NOTHING EVER GOT ACCOMPLISHED BY TREATING EACH OTHER WORSE THAN DIRT! SHEESH!

    1. Mango

Said everything I wouldve said. People just can’t have nice things without trying to ruin it.

    2. Christa

      BRAVO!

      1. CalledIt

Bravo yes respect my christian conservative frailty *rolls eyes*.

        1. Arianna

I can’t tell if your being rude or whatever. But if you are your proving their point

        2. Ssm

Saying the same thing 100 times and thinking you “really got them” rolls eyes and laughs hysterically

    3. CalledIt

Human rights are not opinions, they are rights that are not negotiable. Grab a tissue.

    4. Emmett

I don’t think it is a white Christian thing. It’s a white dude thing. They are a vocal minority though. There was so much hate for Rey and Finn (“oh no main protag woman and main support character black!”) And still hearing complaints about “forced” diversity, even in this comment section. It’s gross. It’s racist. It’s white man fragility.

      1. R

ITM is a white dude catering site in my experience

      2. A

Funny how those big meany racist white dudes don’t have that problem with Leia or Lando.

Almost like there’s some kind of difference in writing or something.

      3. Whocares

It would be fine if they didn’t make her a Mary Sue from the word go.

    5. Evil fathwell

You have a good point i know a couple rep friends that like the show. I haven’t liked any sw shows or movies since they dropped the ball on solo. Broke my ❤

    6. Greg

But If they do that they won’t have any controversy and therefore there will be no friction and therefore there will be no story. I am honestly curious as to how many real people are posting on here . Between the Bots and people that I’m pretty sure are being paid to stir things up (on both sides) there’s very few normal people I think.

  5. KiKi

OMG people! GET OVER IT! Haven’t any of you heard of Creative License? There is absolutely nothing wrong with this series. Obi-Wan’s character needs to be understood psychologically, actors who portrayed characters in a CARTOON (for God’s sake) aren’t always available to reprise their roles AND PEOPLE GET REPLACED ALL THE TIME IN HOLLYWOOD! Have you nothing better to do than whine about your personal preferences on how YOU think things should be done? Have you NEVER thought about what Obi-Wan went through in his solitude prior to Episode 4? Stop acting like entitled brats and think out of the box for once in your lives!

    1. Kane

      Escobar sisters in the chat?

  6. Greg

Get over yourselves. It’s a kids story full of wonder an amazement. Not masterpiece theater.

    1. Mike

It’s not a kids story, SW isn’t a children’s show/movie, never has been. This is always an excuse by people to dismiss low quality production.

      1. R

It’s always been for kids. Are you dimwitted?

        1. A

Kids movies full of murder, dismemberment, implied rape, and more.

    2. Size Noodles

The “kids’ movie” line was something Lucas came up with once he screened the first rough cut of Phantom Menace for senior staff at Lucasfilm and they realized they weren’t going to end up with the movie they thought they were making. Up until this point, Lucas talked about Star Wars in Joseph Campbell “hero’s journey” terms and Jungian archetypes. Kids’ movies are a pretty weird place for WW2 and Vietnam allegories. Han Solo was a drug smuggler, just as Disney went to great lengths to avoid Boba Fett hunting bounties or even thinking one step ahead of anyone he runs into on his own TV show.
But back to Phantom Menace and “kids’ movies”, that was Lucas’ new mantra leading up to the release in ‘99. It lowered expectations and it was his go-to response to criticism. He even used it to defend the Nemoidians and Watto’s questionable stereotyping (it can’t be racist if it’s “for kids”, right?).
Unfortunately, for decades “for kids” has also been a convenient way to lower standards for media companies and food manufacturers, too. I bet there aren’t many childhood favourite movies or TV shows you can sit through today as an adult. [Review bombers lost their sht last year over that Kevin Smith Masters of the Universe mini-series, but the old cartoon it mostly followed up is pretty torturous to sit through. They even had to tack on a “moral lesson” at the end of each episode to satisfy the educational content requirements programming had in some markets when the ‘80s legislation began to allow 30-minute toy commercials to pas as programming. Never mind that the old cartoon was already the 3rd iteration of Mattel’s characters, but the trolls online really just used the show to decry politics that didn’t align with theirs.]
Kids are raised on the equivalent of milk & cookies because “kids’ cereals” are for kids and they don’t know better. And it IS possible for film studios to set their standards higher and treat kids’ intelligence with some respect, but they don’t know how to market films like The Iron Giant. A lot of Studio Ghibli would engage kids, but remains a niche to most of the world. Pixar has had mixed success but who else is stepping up?
Live action Star Wars veers pretty hard into that lower-tier kids’ entertainment category whenever Robert Rodriguez directs, though. Boba Fett’s triumphant return had the produduction standards of a Power Rangers sequence. He later gave us the space Vespa chase and blew a disproportionate amount of the show’s budget on that predictable Rancor rampage and he made the long-anticipated Sarlacc escape less interesting than even fanfic could (How will he escape the room with the wet rubber curtains?).
Star Wars used to be cutting edge from a filmmaking standpoint. They used to get Oscar nominations and Special Achievement awards. The original trilogy gave Lucas enough clout to make his THX brand sound systems an industry-wide standard. Star Wars used to feature a shifting range of exotic locales. Even with wooden dialogue, the actors still had amazing chemistry onscreen. The banter was witty and usually funny. Scenes were exciting and played off each other the way Jackie Chan stunt work makes you not care what’s possible, but the ideas are inspired and it’s a marvel to see what they could pull off, even with handmade models and sound effects created and spliced by hand onto reels of tape, not hard drive space.
Disney Star Wars has no Ralph McQuarrie, Joe Johnston, Ben Burtt, and now no more John Williams (except for credit on a theme song), and they don’t aspire to reach nearly as high. This is perfunctory, phoned-in, auto-pilot slop making Disney shareholders money based solely on the Star Wars license.

      1. R

Yeah no SW was for kids in the 70s and it’s clear by the serial style it was

      2. bert

Thank you for saying exactly what true Star Wars fans have been saying elsewhere. We are unhappy because there is no care to the universe disney purchased. They just pump out anything with the name attached. Yes disney has a certain political leaning and yes they do inject that into a lot of their work. Can’t deny that either but that’s not directly what makes it bad content. It’s how they put stories written by people who don’t seem to have watched the previous titles and introduce plot holes and continuity errors.

  7. Marcus

I don’t understand all the hate around Obi Wan Kenobi? It’s entertaining and perfectly in-line with the other Star Wars streaming series.

  8. Duhhhh

    Everyone just stop being idiots.

I don’t care who plays what character. I don’t follow it like a frickin religion. It’s just a story. Enjoy the ride then go on with your daily lives. Seriously, this griping is what’s wrong with angry needs. Just drop it

    1. Cats

Agreed. Angry nerds are making all nerds look like morons.

  9. Bob Chapek

The show is pretty good in my opinion. Only complaint I have so far is that the inquisitors are pretty lame. They seem fairly useless since the main antagonist is actually Vader. It’s kind of like the Knights of Ren. Might as well not even be there. And on top of that the main inquisitor was only in a couple episodes before being easily killed off by the 12 year old looking rookie inquisitor.

    1. R

He’s probably not even dead since he’s in Rebels

  10. Seymour

If you don’t like it, don’t watch it. There, I’ve solved the problem.

    1. Size Noodles

Uh, to know if I like it, I’m gonna have to watch it and even make up my own mind.

      1. R

That’s only true for part 1

  11. RedQueen

Loved Mando so far, hated Book of Boba Fett because I just found the story to be a mjor letdown. I like Obi-wan so far but do find myself having suspend disbelief for things like “oh we are hunting down force sensitive children yet no one can sense the force in Leia? Of course that has been a plot hole since the original trilogy. I mean seriously Vader can’t sense Leia, his own child? But whatever it’s a TV show and is still 1000% better than that garbage ending of the last trilogy.

    1. Essence of Blood

HEY! I was with you regarding everything you said about Obi-Wan (haven’t seen Mando & not interested in Book of Boba Fett), but let’s just not go there w/ the Trilogy, k? That was NOT, by any stretch of the imagination, a “garbage ending”!

      1. Rick

        Yes, it was.

    2. Mike

It’s evident that some here have been seduced by the dark side of the Force.

  12. Dave Hewitt

I guess that since the cartoon watchers have spoken, they should also be mad that Mel Blanc no longer voices Daffy or Bugs. Enjoy the story, it is after all fiction, and your world won’t be destroyed by a Death Star.

  13. Rabbit

Star Wars die hard fans are the worst. They’re basement dwelling crybabies that larp around and posting their feelings on social media. I’ve seen a lot of them are woke as well. Bring them to Thunderdome.

    1. Itgxd

Seems like you cast the most insults around and jump to defense mode without question. I I want series has real issues, direction is atrocious, story is bad, dialog is bad, acting is forced, lack of action. I could go on and on

  14. Altier

The show is fine. Articles need to stop saying all fans think this or feel that. The fans that need to find the nearest exit are these hardcore fans that will watch Star Wars just to hate on it and the ones that watch and hate on a black woman. You are the trash of the galaxy. If you don’t like how Star Wars is going then go create your own sci-fi movie and/or shows and see if you have what it takes.

  15. stgl

Giving too much weight to the whining of a few people on Twitter. Some people will find any reason to declare Disney has “ruined” Star Wars.

  16. Eric

Is it really that big of a deal to ask for continuity in these Star Wars projects? I think the writers are sloppy and not doing their homework. Die hard SW fans should be honored as without them new SW wouldn’t have made it seeing how timid Hollywood is to try new things non- SW or non Marvel. Younger folks can have their fun to but they don’t have continuity expectations. Also, why the hate thrown at whites and Christians here? Not understanding that angle.

    1. R

Because the disgruntled skew that way. The conservative too!

  17. J

Yes, keep STAR WARS continuity the same through the movies, shows, and comics!!!! Bring back Jason Issacs! He is truly menacing!!!

  18. Greg

“They replaced the voice actor for the grand inquisitor…..see, nobody cares.

  19. Rick

Cry babies fan haters crying about the cry baby fans. YAWN

Each side thinks they’re the virtuous side because of how they love/hate the new shows.

It’s pathetic. Watch your stupid show (or boycott it) and shut up about ‘them’ on the other side.

    1. R

You mean cry baby fans crying unnecessarily and attacking fans and people who stand up to bigots, weirdo

      1. A

        Yeah, you’re a paid shill.

  20. GL

This is what happens when the balance between bullies and geeks is disturbed.

  21. Scott

    Wow… Use hyperbole much? Lol

  22. Andrew

Ah yes, 3 people’s tweets and all Star Wars fans are outraged, over an actor not reprising their role from a cartoon to live action… cmon every day your articles get worse and worse 🙄

  23. James

Grow up people, it’s a show enjoy it. If you don’t like it, find something else to watch. No one is twisting your arm making you watch it. The problem today is everyone can hide behind keyboard and play Devils advocate.

    1. Dennis Carlson

      I agree. Well said.

    2. KYS2022

Right, because screw the fans. Right? Because that’s what Disney has been doing since day one. It has NOTHING to do with race or sexual orientations but everything to do with an absolute crap tier story line with B-grade actors.

I don’t care what race Reva is, black is fine with me. However the actress behind Reva is laughable at best in regards to acting. And not to mention the utter contempt shown for SW history and lore.

Make a good Star Wars show with all PoC actors and actresses and I’d watch it IF IT WAS GOOD. That’s what we fans are after.

      1. R

She does a great job with the role. You’re a bigot who doth protest too much.

        Just do better.

        1. A

Then why don’t they dislike Billy Dee Williams , fu/ck/ta/rd?

        2. Uehr

You jump right to the “you are racist angle”. Reva is not good in the role. It’s bad writing, forced acting, and just a poorly setup show. There are real criticisms and you just deny them on the grounds of “you are a bigot” lol.

  24. Dennis Carlson

Oh for hell sakes. It’s just a quick series. People need to quit acting like it’s real life. It’s fantasy, it’s make believe. Just shut up and enjoy it. If you don’t like it, don’t watch it. I for one think it’s fun and I’m a giant Star Wars nerd. If you can do better then make your own stuff, if not, sit back and eat some popcorn and enjoy it

  25. Erik

Probably the only one that thinks this is the author of this article. The difference between casting voice acting and movies are alot different. Trying to start a controversy over every time the voice actor is not casted is just poor in my opinion. The end product has been great. Just stop.

  26. D. Rush

I’m beginning to wonder if many Star Wars fans are really stupid. We’re only halfway into the series and already many are assuming that the Grand Inquisitor, a character I rarely gave two thoughts about, is dead or not. Instead of waiting until the last episode to see what his fate is, many are jumping the gun and making assumptions. Stupid.

[“Make a good Star Wars show with all PoC actors and actresses and I’d watch it IF IT WAS GOOD. That’s what we fans are after.”]

Oh spare me! If Reva had been white, especially a white man, many wouldn’t be making such a big deal about her or screaming “WOKE!” like a bunch of bigoted idiots.

    1. Crystal

I just want to say it’s more that her character is poorly written for the universe it’s supposed to be taking place in. I’ve voiced problems with all the characters I see that do this- it just so happens that more often as Disney pushes more and more leading or high rank “diverse” roles that more issues become focused on it being “racism”/”misogyny” etc instead of the bad writing like 99% of critics claim. Like people are claiming here anout the number who dislike the show being small, its a “vocal minority” who are the ones spreading nasty messages to the actors especially and such while most others at least attempt to share their critiques in a respectful or at least not confrontational manner.
I critique my favorite works all the time, but never send any threats to anyone for any reason ever. [No, people should not harrass actors and be racist in general, but also you get trolls and horrible people all the time when you’re a “main stream” personality good or bad. Its a horrible thing that comes with all the attention that fame brings]

Back to the issue, Vader is ruthless, it’s been made canon by Disney/Lucas that Vader wouldn’t stand for any insubordination or anyone knowing who he previously was. (Note the clone and one of the female officers or troopers that he killed for finding out he was anakin/seeing his face) Reva contradicts both of these right out in the very beginning.
There’s continuity issues left and right (ie Obi Wan and Leia meeting, which they shouldn’t have until the OG trilogy when theyre rescuing her; Leia using the force and not immediately being sensed- she shouldn’t have used/been using force abilities until AFTER the end of the OG and before the newest trilogy becuase again sensing a force user, and so on) that also cause problems. These are legitimate critiques that people keep dismissing because they lump everyone saying it with the worst side of the Fandom.

And just to be “fair” I was not a fan of the Solo characters. They were weakly written, too much being cut or edited out to make them well rounded characters. I was not a fan of the writing in the new trilogy as, as a whole it did not make sense. There were too many changes and jumps in what actually was and wasn’t supposed to be real (K.K. admitted to it not being planned out well/at all)

In comparison, Rogue One was really well done. The main cast was compelling and (majorly) well written and didn’t break continuity BECAUSE they kept in mind what was already there.

I mostly blame K.K. for the lack of reception for the series as she said in an interview that the original script was heavily changed/thrown out (i forget which) and that put a bad taste in the more critical fans’ mouth. And I’ve found I more often than not dislike anything she has a heavy hand in when it comes to the Disney wave if star wars.
If the OG script had different/better continuity I have no idea, but as it stands now, they’re breaking their own universe and what they’ve set up by either laziness or incompetence from those they’re hiring (I won’t mention the inquisitor as while I believe he died which again is a break, like you said there’s more episodes to go so there’s no final ruling on that)

I do agree with the “if it was good” comment though, as I find myself more and more often with this Disney wave watching it once just to see it and then going to fan fiction sites to see how they fans write the movies/shows better- or at least in a non continuity breaking way because I’m constantly disappointed with the level of writing being put out by Lucas/Disney. [I especially noted Solo because he’s white and had similar/same level critiques as Reva though people often forget about that, because this was back when there was more good will with the more critical fans excited about the new trilogies]

In a way, white male Reva existed. As Anakin Skywalker. He got a white pass.

      1. A

lol no the prequels are fu/cking garbage mate

The thing that so many people don’t seem to get. If the Grand Inquisitor died in the second episode HE’S A DIFFERENT CHARACTER! Space racists. The fact that 2 ofthe same species have the same job does not mean they are the same character. Rebels takes place AFTER Kenobi.

    1. Crystal

For those who agree and arent being sarcastic:
The Grand Inquisitor isn’t a title that’s passed down. Same how the “— brother/sister” isn’t a title that gets passed around when that person dies either. Or how Darth Sidious doesnt/didn’t pass the name Tyranus to Vader once Dooku was dead ir Dooku getting Maul’s name when they thought he was dead.
The “it some other member of the same species in the same position” is the same as saying “oh no, this Togruta died and had the name Ahsoka and the same markings and training and outfit and everything, but she OBVIOUSLY is alive so it MUST be some other Togruta that died” or “oh no this man named Mace Windu, same clothes, skills, face and everything died, but he’s still alive so it MUST have been some other human man” it doesn’t make sense.
If he’s dead like everyone believes, they blast a major hole into their own canon material which affects the whole of the Rebels series and beyond that

I’m tired of Disney using toxic fan base and racism as a sheild any time they do a poor job. It’s like they never even consider that when characters or aspects if a show recieve hate from dedicated fans its because they are poorly written garbage. Did Giancarlo Esposito, Carl weathers, or Rosario Dawson recieve an outpouring of hate due to their race or gender? No, because they were well written and people liked the characters. They felt like they belonged in the setting. The main criticism about the grand inquisitor is mainly because the show killed him off in a lazy and stupid way when he is alive in a show 5 years later so we know he will be back, and his appearance in the shoe is super low effort. When we see his species in episode 3 it they look a hell of a lot better and actually true to the lore. Any time Disney recieves criticism for doing a poor job they always say the fans are racists and man babies. Maybe instead they should look inwards and try to produce a compelling story and characters rather than insulting fans (aka paying customers)

    1. R

Even when they do a great job the fan base part that’s toxic shows its ass

    2. Scotty

I agree with your Assessment that they can’t handle criticism when they drop the ball and they like to blame everyone and everything else for their poor writing

  29. This article and those complaining are pathetic….. The show is amazing and the ones complaining are basically the Karen’s of the Star Wars world…..

    1. Scotty

      Ok Chad

  30. R

Just accept you’re a bigot instead of blaming everything else

  31. Mike

I remember when journalists used to just report the story without throwing there personal bias and actual fact. This one seems to just wanna pander to new “fans” or as they really like to call them. New money

  32. Crista

Not sure how this episode goes off the rails.

    I like the series!

  33. Ben

    Yes! Bring him back!

  34. Dj

I don’t think any of the writers or directors Disney has hired have even watched Star Wars before. It’s like a cheap CW show.

    1. Halo

      Lolol faaaacts

  35. Halo

Lol whoever wrote this article is obviously not an original Star Wars fan. “Ruin the fun for new fans”… that’s something the writers are doing not the old school fans. How many times can studios recycle the same “catch and release with a tracker” storyline? No one, and I mean no one, cares about Leia as a child. We should be seeing Luke, Tatooine, Jedi hunts, and at least some Filmography/Choreography from this decade. Lightsaber fights on youtube with a camera phone are better than what we’ve gotten on Kenobi

  36. Rick meadows

I was at star wars when it opened and I have enjoyed everyone of the show’s including mandalorian and obi wan. Stop trying to make stupid comparisons and enjoy each on its own merit

  37. Tracy

Too many new SW fans are a bunch of cry baby wankers who can’t be taken seriously. So glad I didn’t have to grow up with them, having seen ANH in the summer of 1977; It’s been an enjoyable 45 years for me but apparently an agony for the white, racist, misogynist “fan boys”. You get what you deserve I guess lol.

  38. Scotty

I like the new Obl-Wan I know for most of the commenters I am in the minority I was at the premiere of the 1977 film just to date myself. I have watched all the animated series all the movies and shows all of it the only problem I really have is I don’t understand why they killed the grand inquisition that is going to show up later in rebels and other animated series and if you’re going to get somebody to be the new grand inquisition I like the other guy that’s still alive. I think he would be an awesome grand inquisitioner. the woman who they have playing the 3rd sister reminds me of too much of Burns from Star Trek discovery, and they’re giving her the same type of role to play in this series. It’s not about her it’s about the adventures of Obi-Wan Kenobi on the run while watching over Luke before the new Hope starts, But if that little droid that Leia has is the reason that Vader ultimately knows that she is the one who has the plans for the death star then it makes sense. I am not a big fan of the writing that’s making the 3 daughter the OP successor to the grand inquisition. I have no problems with the actor. I think she is doing an excellent job with the script she is being given I believe most of the fault of this series has to be with the writers and not the actors.
