  1. The TRUE intent and meaning of Walt Disney has been killed off by this new “woke” ideology. Good Bye Mr. Disney, Thank you for sharing your dream and allowing us to participate. After 39 visits, we will live with our memories. Walt Disney’s heart has been destroyed and will never get it back ever again. We are DONE with these intruders and killers of dreams. Disney World has DEFINITELY lost it’s MAGIC.

What does so-called woke-ism have to do with this?

    2. Frank Rizzo

      Hahahahahaha! You’re a clown!

  2. A. Thinker

What a stupid comment. Makes no sense. What does the “woke” theory have anything to do with Disney’s and it’s share holders business decision? Your politically colored mind is stunning.

    1. Stanley Pattillo

Disney is pure greed Walt Disney dreams are no longer his but corp. And share holder greed.

    2. Chapek failed

Most shareholders are stuck with a sunk cost fallacy. Have you looked at the stock price over the 1 year range? Shocking the CEO is still there.

    3. Gail

So true….its sad disney has become what it has

    4. REMillz

Everything. The woke nonsense has alienated a huge swath of the target market. Get woke, go broke.

      1. Bij

        You mean racists?

        1. Selena

Bij-what “racists” would you be referring to? Not understanding why you are bringing race into this discussion. People are simply commenting on Disney Co. greed.

    5. Jessie

      Get woke
      Go broke

I am 44 years old and a lifelong Floridian. I grew up going to Disney and loved it so much but I am done. Between the price increases and cut backs/demolition of attractions and having to schedule out your entire day or week 6 months in advance to even try and get your money’s worth, it’s just ruined. I think Walt Disney would roll over in his grave if he saw his beloved park now.

  4. Chapek and Iger ruined Disney

Bulldozed to make room for new timeshares. You can’t make this up.

    1. EricJ

And not even a timeshare that looks remotely Hawaiian–
But a nice modern downtown Four Seasons style, just like Hotel Bob thinks they ALL should be…

  5. Such a sin saw the regular show and the character show several times never disappointed with the shows the food and the staff. Luckily got to take our Daughter had plans to take our grandson that will never happen now. SO SAD Whats next HOOP DEE DOO REVUE i certainly hope not.
Mr Disney is watching this with tears in his eyes 😪❤️

  6. EricJ

This isn’t recent news, the Luau had been scheduled to close for a while, even without the demolition–

It was a perfect bit of theme-immersiveness in the 70’s glory days of the Polynesian, but when they turned it into a Lilo & Stitch sing-along show to cash in on IP, it started getting a little uncomfortable…
(Considering L&S was pretty heavy on the mainlander-cultural-appropriation criticism to begin with.)

I am sad to see it go. Wonderful memories were made there.

It’s all about the money! When Covid hit, it gave them the window of opportunity to destroy, delete the whole idea Walt had for his parks. Putting rides in parks that are out of character for the area. CHARGING outrageous price for a Fast pass……that doesn’t work. $$$$$ this is what they like, do not care how they get it.. ☹️

Hoping against all odds Disney shareholders will rethink the powers that be. So far, all the changes taking place are benefits for themselves, not the beloved children Walt Disney built Disney for. LOVED the luau at The Polynesian and it was one of the highlights of our trips there. If it was being torn down to rebuild and give the fine actors an even better place to perform, it would be different, but sadly not the case. SMH

  10. Hugh Litzer

Permanently destroyed. As opposed to temporarily destroyed. Well put.

    1. Jose

Monumentally stupid idea. Disney will only have time shares, but nothing to draw people who will buy the time shares. Chapek will eventually level the 4 theme parks and make time shares out of those too.

      1. Richard Ryder

They have a time share in Hawaii too. You can get a great lei there.

  11. Barbara

Disney is nothing like it once was. Restaurant and service was impeccable as was the experience. Now it’s awful and everyone looks unhappy and frustrated. Our family has moved on to the universal studios parks and their resorts.
Unfortunately Disney isn’t the same at all, everything has changed for the worse

  12. Justin Time

ALL OF DISNEY WILL SOON BE THE SAME…
    GO WOKE
    GO BROKE!!!

  13. Alison

This is arguably the worst decision Disney has made in a while. This just screams greed. Most times this is the only exposure families get to a luau experience because Hawaii is an expensive place to travel to. Now it’s going to be a DVC wing that’ll probably go for $1000+ a night based on how much regular Poly rooms go for, again something that most of those same families cannot afford. I hate the elitist vibe Chapek is trying to bring to the parks.

I only visited Disney World once, as I was part of the US Military in Orlando FL and we were invited to be Guest of Honor at a beauty pageant held there once, but I have seen the stupidity at Disneyland way before this happened. It is a Wokeness Issue.. And doing something to appease a minority of people, just because they are yelling the loudest, while upsetting the 80-90% that just want it to be left alone the way it’s remembered, just to theoretically make a dollar is the very definition of “Go Woke, Go Broke…”

Eventually both Disneyland and Disney World will be leveled and the only way you will be able to see anything Disney related will be through their Disney+ app and that will only be what THEY want you to see… (for a much higher price than they charge today).

It is definitely the end of a wonderful era due to chasing the all mighty dollar.

    1. Frank Rizzo

      Hahahahahaha! Sure thing, Cletus.

  15. Brian West

I hope the entire Disney corporation goes under. I’m sure Walt is spinning in his grave with what the wokeheads have done to his inventions.

  16. Patti

Wrong. My favorite ride is It’s A Small World. I love that many years ago this ride amazed children with music and movement. Out of all the rides, I always pick this one because it’s a classic.

  17. MANY GREAT MEMORIES!.
    IN THAT TROPICAL COVE!
DISNEY’S GREED IS DESTROYING THE PARKS!
FYI, THE TIME SHARES ARE AWFUL!

  18. Gina

Very sad to see it go. Been going to the Polynesian village since I was a little girl. Brought my kids there as well. All my old childhood memories flooded in. Loved the smell, the look, everything about Polynesian. Unfortunately, wasn’t able to go back due to the astronomical nightly prices. Very sad. But great memories made there.
