Even in January and February there are plenty of days when we need AC here, but yeah, for real. Was at Springs today and it was murder in and out of the stores.
Get a life S1 this is all about cutbacks from Greedy Chapek. I wonder what all my money is going on for my holiday. Greedy Chapek and his lacklustre greedy board too.
I still would like to know what happened to the ice age and why fossils of tropical trees and plants have been found in Alaska- all many millinea before humankind really got started.
Dang it, don’t make excuses for them. They are making an incredible amount of money from ally of the tourists attending every single day since they opened again: there is no reason to make us suffer from the heat any more than we have to. I hope they pull their collective heads out of their behinds before we get there in September, and before people start dying of heatstroke.
Before I get the B/S claim replies. Out of all the springs stores, Epcot, Hollywood studios, animal kingdom, and magic kingdom the only truly comfortable experiences as far as air conditioning goes was Lightning McQueen’s racing academy. We actually sat through this 3 times to cool off after the 90 minute slinky dog line and the 110 minute Mickey and Minnie runaway railway line. It’s crazy that a multi billion resort is so hyper focused on profit they would for-go air conditioning for both employees and guests to cut costs. I wonder if the number of heat related injuries has spiked from this. it’s absolutely insane!
I’ve got news for you, it is freaking hot right now, humid too. These combined have had a combined effect of creating a feels like temp that has hit 116° f this week, even if the temps are only mid 90°’s. I’ve been here for 40 years, it is not only hotter, it is noticably so year over year.
As for your hotel ac only going to 68 when another went down to 65, I have news for you, all new package unit ac units, the kind in your room, only go down to 68, that is the way they ship from the factory. You know, attempts to save the planet and all.
As for open to outside ques being warmer, well, evaporative cooling aka swamp cooling does not work well when humidity is a million and two.
Fact check me all you want.
Disney is spending millions to reduce their carbon footprint, including building massive solar farms that also double as pollinator habitat. Largest onsite end user solar farms in the country as a matter of fact.
Inflation sucks, yes Disney is expensive, so much so I won’t be visiting soon. But the costs are real, for you, for me, for them.
Love the part “when humidity is a million and two”…. I moved back to Oklahoma to get away from the humidity of Wisconsin. It’s now humid here too. It wasn’t when I grew up here. Florida has always been humid. We used to go in September and it was thick. Even with it being hot and that humid I can’t imagine setting the room a.c. at 65. It would run constantly.
I can’t with people who feel their opinion supersedes someone else’s. What do you care if someone’s comfort temperature is lower than yours? It’s 56 right now in Seattle and I’m in shorts. If I wanna set my thermostat in my room far below yours, it’s none of your business and doesn’t affect you.
For the amount I am paying for the room, I should be able to set it at whatever temperature I want. I personally sleep best when the temperature is below 65.
They are paying BIG money to stay at a Disney resort, they can set the AC wherever the hell they want to-The same way they can set their AC at whatever temperature they want to in their own homes. If they don’t mind a higher electric bill, so be it. I don’t know why you’re so concerned
This has been happening since 2017/18. We had to buy a fan. They have slide to the bottom of the barrel. Done with the rift raft running the place taking peoples hard earned money!
This is just great lot more Angry guest I wonder how the animatronics is coping with the heat the amount of money they make they can afford the freaking AC bill don’t get me wrong I still love Disney but they price me out for good.👹😡
They sure have! It will definitely effect my decision to visit again. It was 105 degrees with heat index yesterday and several places were warm-ish when you walked in; no relief. They need to make this guests comfortable. They make enough money off us!
I agree with the AC complaints. Yes Florida summers are brutal. I grew up and live in south Fla. I have been going to Disney since it’s opening. And visiting in the summer was bearable because we would do one ride then do an attraction like Carousel, Hall of Presidents, etc. to cool off. During our last few visits, those attractions have been hot. Not even cool.
Last time we were there when it was hot at epcot, we would go to France to cool off in the theater, but it was not much different than outside. Extremely disappointing.
We are here now, and we noticed right away that the ac isn’t as good anymore. Alot of the fans in ride lines aren’t working either. It seems they aren’t keeping up on the maintenance of them, or the rides. Chapek really needs to go. He’s turning off alot of loyal Disney customers who’s money spends just as well at Universal. Better be careful Chapek..
Meanwhile, at Universal Orlando, some areas feel like they are attempting to air-condition the outside.. probably a marketing thing to leave the doors open and get guests to come into a nice cold store to buy something when they’re burning up outside.. but hey, it’s pretty cool lol
I remember a time when room thermostats could be dialed down to 62 degrees, but now it seems that MOST are 65 degrees or HIGHER! Additionally, I typically bring a thermometer with me on trips & have noted that, even with the room thermostat dialed down to its lowest setting, my rooms have NEVER been cooled below 70 degrees in the past 5 years! Of note here, even though I typically visit WDW 3-5 times per year for 12 nights each trip for the past 15 years, I NEVER visit during the heat of summer — I ONLY visit in October, December, January/February, & April, so there’s NO excuse for a lack of AC in the rooms!
Was just there and there was a notable difference. Attractions and stores were not very cool. Didn’t make me want to shop. Our room at the Polynesian’s thermostat went down to 68 and still felt warm at night.
So many people complaining, but they aren’t getting their point across by continuing to go to the parks and keep the money flowing right into Disney’s pockets. Want to make a point and hurt them so they notice? Quit patronizing their parks!
I read that the new AC does not run during the day while you are at the parks.
You must tie a balloon (blown up) in front of it to trick the AC so it will think it is a person and come on.
You must do this while you sleep also.
I learned this from YouTube videos by those who talk about Disney world.
Logically this makes sense. If it’s 100°+ outside, going into 65°-70° air conditioning can cause your body to go into shock. My husband remembers back when he was a kid stretchers being brought in for people collapsing from the drastic change in temperature.
Our trip just ended yesterday. I can assure you these claims are definitely based in fact. I can’t remember the exact store in springs but I remember seeing a thermostat in a shop reading 76* it was 98* outside. I also spoke to a cast member inside pirates this evening and asked if it was abnormally hot and she agreed and told me she had noticed the ride didn’t have that Antarctic blast it’s known for on hot Orlando days.
If people would stop putting the AC at 65 or 68, the warmer temps outside wouldn’t feel as big of a shock to your system. Everyone keeps saying that WDW is more crowded than it’s ever been, well more bodies means a higher ambient temp. The weather itself is hot and HUMID. Humidity makes it feel a lot hotter than it is and if the lines have constantly opening doors or parts that are outdoors, well…. that’s not going to help to keep it cool. Simple solution – don’t like it? Don’t go.
Liberals should ask Chapek to replace Joe – same type of idiot, in denial – and running something that was once successful and profitable into the ground.
I would NEVER take my family to these retarded theme parks. They make changes and then give excuses. Disney and Universal are a waste of money and should be closed and torn down to make room for Florida residents.
Noticed it at the Muppets 3d Dhow. It used to be a great place to cool off, I used to take a power nap while family watched the show. Now, its hot inside, even in the spring months.
Comments for Disney World Cut Air Conditioning to Save Money, Reports Guests
beautiful gorgeous
Bob Cheapskate: Don’t like it? Come in February!
Jackie
Even in January and February there are plenty of days when we need AC here, but yeah, for real. Was at Springs today and it was murder in and out of the stores.
Shelley
We noticed in mid may that the air conditioning wasn’t on inside the frozen ever after queue. It was unbelievably hot. We left.
C
So giving Disney your business.
Kyle
I was at Springs last month and it was just fine. No idea what you’re talking about.
Michelle
I just returned from 4 nights at Disney and did not experience what others are saying!
Bobby
Cause all these people are delusional clowns
Garry
Agreed.. I just got back from there and there was no issues with the AC.
S1
Air conditioning is bad for climate change, so it makes sense that they would try to cut their carbon footprint
L. Jen
Yes because all their plastic castle bags and Chinese poison toys that break after a week or two are so good for the environment.
CJ
Disney is Magical! Florida is so lucky to have such a wonderful, beautiful place! Cannot wait to return!
Duh
Haha it has nothing to do with their caring about climate change. Bc they clearly don’t at all with all the other wasteful practices

I agree leah 100%.

ITM – your format of showing things twice is annoying. Also – did anyone make a call to Disney to make a comment?

Limiting the thermostat to 65 is totally unfair to Canadians. They’ll melt!
Jonathan
Except most Disney building and hotel ac runs off of central cooling tower near the building and not a package unit
MamaLifeBlogger
I can’t with all these people complaining about AC that doesn’t go below 65 or 68?! Who sets/needs their AC that low?! Insane!
EvolutionaryUturn
I can’t with people who feel their opinion supersedes someone else’s. What do you care if someone’s comfort temperature is lower than yours? It’s 56 right now in Seattle and I’m in shorts. If I wanna set my thermostat in my room far below yours, it’s none of your business and doesn’t affect you.

Because setting it that low is not necessary and wasteful? You need to get your body used to normal temperatures, esp with global warming
Elizabeth

Very well stated.

Bob Chapek should be fired!! Apparently, he’s not doing Disney any good at all!!

And neither has Iger.

So my take on this is that the only thing in Disney World that is LOWERING is the temperature on the AC.
Higher and increasing Cost its simply outrageous so much less for your money, Chapek you got to go man. Sooner rather than later, so very greedy.
Joe
Prices are going to increase rapidly once Disney starts paying taxes.
Diana

He’s not being careful.
Gillian Corrigan
Glad to hear this – I was always freezing when inside!!
Mary M
This, if anything, they need to remove more Air Conditioning since it runs too cold in the past.
EvolutionaryUturn
If you’re too cold, wear another layer. Everyone who’s hot doesn’t have the option to take off a layer.
Jonathan

Walt must be rolling over in his freezer…..

This might only make them lose their customers and will make him bleed out money even more.

This might only make Disney bleed out money even more.
MIke
What a joke all the money they make atleast put it toward your cast members pay you greedy bastards.
Thanks
In our room at the Grand Flo, we could turn the thermostat down to 65. At POFQ, it would only go down to 68.
These people are really complaining about 3 degrees in the high 60s when it is in the 90s outdoors?!??!
Spankie
Walt would be proud!!!!!!

Why cut the ac? Doesn’t Disney have their own solar farm? How is this a cost saving measure if you generate your own electricity?
Linda

C
Stop giving Disney your business.
They prove on multiple levels that they do not care about their customer base.
Dun-with-Disney. I’m BROKE!
you have to be a fool to go to Disney anymore it’s the biggest rip off going Universal is much better
