I’m not sure blaming the trains for people ignoring the active alarms, signs, moving barriers and flashing lights and, running & driving in front of them, is appropriate. That project was benefiting a huge percentage of the citizens of Florida and without it they are worse off.
You can blame the trains if they are running way more trains that run much faster than before. The tracks were designed for freight not high speed passenger service.
Civilized places separate trains from streets, parks, schools, stores, walkways, parking lots. In Florida they run right next to each other thanks to Brightline.
And cars have gotten much faster, and there are far more of them on the road than in years past. I guess we should follow your logic and blame those for car vs pedestrian accidents as well.
Are you yet another of the “I am not responsible for my own actions” generation?
Apples and oranges. The Brightline tracks went from carrying 2 freight trains a day at 30mph to 16 trains a day at 80mph. Only way cars would be a comparable increase is if everyone suddenly drove a Ferrari and jaywalkers started dropping like flies.
Whatever Disney decides to do it won’t have anything to do with magical or express.
Under Bob Ch(e)apek’s leadership Disney will not do anything if it costs them any money, be damned with any consideration of guest experience and happiness.
I don’t think it was practical. Who would want to carry lots of luggage to the train, load it on and take it off at Disney Springs and drag it to a waiting bus to take you to your resort. I’d rather just take a bus to my resort from the airport. It would be fantastic if Disney brings back the ME but I’ll plan on the other bus options if the ME doesn’t return.
As a stockholder this is very Disappointing but comes as no surprise as people, companies, local and state agencies are putting a squeeze on “ DISNEY’s PRIVILEGE “ and removing the perks . Brightline was a game changer over the Magic Bus or the proposed Disney own bus service, it would offer a far greater opportunity for transportation in capacity, speed and safety . Disney should fight harder for this but in lieu of several recent Corporate decisions that have negatively impacted Disney this will be just another misstep and a freebie to the competitor Universal. As Disney’s stocks continue to fall .
Sir as a Disney stock holder you care nothing for guest perks. Just ways to make guest Pay More for Less. If you a Disney fan/stockholder you need to take the blindfold off.
The magical/tragical express still exists. It was and still is ran by Mears, who was previously under contract with Disney. The only differences now are the designs on the buses are no longer Disney and Mears has to charge people for their service, which Disney embedded into their resort rates. Bob Paycheck will not bring back a “free” service. Rest assured, if he can make a buck or two he will bring it back in some sort of fashion.
Let’s be honest here. Magical express won’t return. They will want you to either rent a car to pay for a space for your stay, or pay for Minnie Van at it’s ridiculous price. Disney has been using the Covid Curtain to cut everything they’ve been wanting to – ie: room service, big menus, room service, fast pass, all the extras. No room service during a pandemic when reservations and social distancing are needed? As. DVC owner, I’m disappointed with Disney. I will always pay more for the same as a Disney love but I’m tired of paying more for less. Parks are never at capacity, but they are busier than ever. Also they won’t tell you capacity anyway. Park reservations will stick around from now on to enhance and provide better guest experience, but how when they are insanely busy. You have to preorder when you’ll eat lunch because mobile order will fill up. Everything good about Epcot, a part about community, learning, and technology is now just an IP cash grab – I’m looking at you Frozen and Guardians if the galaxy. People without DVC spent $400-800 a night on rooms, then tickets, then more to “skip” the lines, even more for higher tier and for what? Getting in 30 minutes early to a park that insanely crowded, where you can’t get a reservation or mobile order without planning it for weeks or months, then back to a resort where there’s no room service. I’m ashamed of Disney currently, pissed at being a DVC owner who can’t even use all of their points because of restrictions. And when I come to enjoy my beautiful room that a spend 30k on a contract, I can’t even get food and places known for food have 5 items on the menu. The “not enough staff” is BS. I know Disney workers aplenty and they all said the same thing. Disney is using that to cut all the extras that cost them money for guest experiences. So no magical express won’t return, in room dining won’t return, full menus won’t return. Everything will be an upcharge from now on and parks will stay busier than ever. And for the average family planning a vacation with minimum knowledge is going to be a nightmare. Genie app is used to control users to where to go, ride times are usually a lie to herd people. Disney and Bob Chap-stick don’t care about guest – they care only for money. 5 years ago I would of been okay with that – now, not so much. #rant #but-true

Good riddance to Brightline. That train kills way too many people because it has 100’s of grade crossings through the middle of towns.

The new plan was the original plan back in the late ‘90s before Disney got involved, and will greatly benefit us who live in the region.

No people get killed because they make poor choices and are impatient or suicidal.

Chapek will never allow Magical Express to return unless they can earn a buck. In his mind there’s no such thing as a guest perk.

You are absolutely right about that

I would gladly pay for Magical Express. Not having to schlep our bags all over creation was PRICELESS.

Lower the speed limit to 50 miles an hour nationally to save the planet and to lower accidents.

You fool. Nothing was ever free. You just paid for it in different ways.
Steve
You are still paying for it, then, since prices have only gone up. You just aren’t getting it anymore.

I would love it if Magical Express came back. It was sorely missed on our last trip. We need to have the meal plans back as well.
Stevw
It may return, for a premium upcharge.

We’ll when it went away that resort price padding didn’t. it was an extra to help guests. Now it’s all about a cash grab while eroding experience
