Disney should revert back to the original storyline of Pirates of the Caribbean for the park attractions. Jack Sparrow never really worked anyhow, but to suggest that Margot Robbie replace Depp and have her animatronic likeness in the parks is absurd.

    1. JOHN

Pretty much, I didn’t like Disney retroactively adding him in the ride (along with all the other changes), and they avoid controversy by removing him and going back to the classic ride that spawned the movies.

      1. Deb

Shame on any actor who tries to replace Johnny Depp as Captain Jack. No actor should, they should stand with Johnny.

        1. Flo

          I totally agree!

          1. Penny

Shame on Margot Robby for stepping in so opportunistically. Where is her moral compass?

        2. BluesMessiah

Nobody is. Disney has never said anyone is replacing him as Captain Jack.

        3. LF

Absolutely agree! Keep Johnny! There will never be another Jack Sparrow. Disney will be on the loosing end if they try to replace him.

      2. Dana Neeson

You can never replace johnnydepp. Your stupid to think you can

        1. Bluesmessiah

Actually, no one ever said that they were replacing Johnny Depp at all. Anyone saying “How dare they replace Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow” is either stupid or lying.

        2. Ed

Well after all it is Disney and they’ve been prone to making stupid choices recently!

        3. Rox

I agree with whoever said new characters should just be introduced naturally rather than as judgement for an actor’s alleged issues in private life offscreen.
The movie going public will decide whether a Depp-less Pirates movie is a good idea. Should be interesting.

    2. Connie

No, only Jonny Depp can and should play Jack Sparrow. I love the movies because of him. He makes the pirates movies.

  2. Mason

Disney would be incredibly stupid if they do this. Since Captain Jack Sparrow is a beloved character by Disney fans. If Disney removes Captain Jack Sparrow from the Pirates of the Caribbean ride they would have drank a lot of rum.

  3. Michelle Pooper

No so called “fans” actually want female Jack Sparrow, idiots.

    1. BluesMessiah

LOL. That’s why Disney hasn’t ever said they were replacing him as Jack Sparrow. just a bunch of idiots who can’t read saying that they did.

  4. Cher

Is this a joke? Margot Robbie is a fine actress but what are they thinking? They don’t want to be associated with Depp- who is the reason the films were so successful- so they decide to make the sexual orientation of his replacement a selling point (for the movie & the ride – in Florida)? Are they really this clueless? Give Margot Robbie her own movie role but if they insist upon passing her off as a woke replacement for Depp, this project is doomed.

    1. BonBon

      She’s mediocre. Fine in Tarzan.
Birds of Prey and Suicide Suicide failed.

    2. RAMONA

True johnny Cant be replaced. Disney better wake up !! THERES now over 4 million signatures on that petition! Equate that to ticket loss!

      1. Flo

        I agree

    3. Jennifer

I dont think any pirates fan want depp replaced!! He made Jack sparrow, he is jack sparrow!!

      1. Connie

So true. Bring back Jonny Depp.

    4. Emma

Beginning to think disney is its own worse enemy.

What happened to a person being innocent till proven guilty. Disney and Hollywood dropped him over alleged domestic assault. He hasn’t been found guilty. I am not a lawyer by no means, but I think I would have a lawsuit case, against them for not working me because they assume I am guilty. Again, not a lawyer but this stinks.
As for the movies and rides. I have nothing against Margot Robbie, she is a favorite actress and love her “Harley Quinn” character, but to try to make her into a replacement for Depp’s Jack Sparrow character is ludicrous, and just plain stupid. Create and give her a role worthy of her. I as many fans will not be wasting our hard earned money to see a POTC movie without Depp/Jack Sparrow. He made the character and the movies. As for the rides, I have been on the rides before Jack was added and afterwards. I could still ride it regardless of if his character was there or not, but don’t replace the character with a female replacement, you are forcing fans to accept something they don’t believe in, AND IT WILL BACKFIRE!!!!

      1. BluesMessiah

You do not have a right to work in the film industry. Disney has not violated any laws in deciding to not make a movie right now about Jack Sparrow. This happens ALL the time in Hollywood. And if Disney has not violated any law, why would they have a court case?

      2. Emma

Would agree they would do best to not jump in on every trendy new # movement

  6. Pam

Booboo! Our family won’t be going to see the movie. Worst mistake Disney could make.

  7. N

With the new ceo a lot is back firing. They push the wrong and want except the truth of what Walt Disney was trying to full file in his parks. But all this trash with the replacing Jonny is crazy. He is not out of Court nor been proved quilts. An d Disney is wanting to push him out. Well they just redid the parades. I have a feeling it’s do to pay cuts and the ceo is losing ground. So quite messing up what is workging a lot of parents is wanting to bring their kid to Disney because they want to share the experience they had when they were little come on. Leave it a lone not broke don’t need to change it. But Disney keeps messing up people will stop going. At least for me and my it will be a while before we go back. And it’s my go to magic. But not really I can say that now.

    1. N

Actually a lot of the issues in Disney can be traced back to the previous CEO who politicized the company for his own aspirations. New CEO’s mistake is not sticking to his guns to ride out the growing pains of getting rid of that.

  8. Marcus S Price

It’s just more ‘woke’ nonsense from the company burning down already. Female Jack Sparrow will be as popular as female ghostbusters….

    1. BluesMessiah

It’s not “female Jack Sparrow.” Are you illiterate or just dishonest? It’s NEVER been reported that she is “replacing Depp as Jack Sparrow.” That’s like saying “DAMMIT! THEY REPLACED MARK HAMILL AS LUKE SKYWALKER WITH A WOMAN AND NOW CALL HIM REN!!!” They are making a movie in the Pirates universe about a different character. That’s all. Tell me, did you get this upset when they started making Marvel movies that weren’t all about Iron Man?

      1. Emma

Blame disney pr & marketing depts. They made it an issue by announce they cut ties with depp, instead of announcing a new pirate movie introducing new characters.

  9. Laura

No! Johhny could be proven innocent! How dare “Disney” be a bad example of judging others and not being fair.

    1. BluesMessiah

He won’t be proven innocent. Now will he be proven guilty. For one thing, he’s not on trial.

  10. TrustInMe

Oh, please. Disney is trying to take the moral high ground with actors? Frigging Keith Richards was in one of the POTC films. I couldn’t care less what actors are up to in their free time.

  11. Daniela

I am never going to see pirates of the carrebien without Johnny Depp! Never! Pirates of the Caribbean IS the Johnny Depp! No one else can take his place! Disney is failed! Big time! They are going to loose so many people and now one is going to watch! I am so very sad. What’s going on….can’t people just stop accusing each other and solve the problem with each other…

    1. BluesMessiah

You know Pirates of the Caribbean existed long before Johnny Depp and Jack Sparrow came along.

    2. Morgan

This sounds wonderful (misogynists now, as well as trans-phobic bigots, boycotting the parks and the movies). How sweet!, to have a haven from them all, for families and non-hateful bumans to go and enjoy things. Thank you all

      1. Morgan

*humans (sorry about the typo; am just so excited about these “boycotts”!)

  12. Sherry

In my humble opinion looking at this from character and not actor/actress views… I think her character is too new and undeveloped to be a replacement.

I also believe that the Pirates of the Caribbean ride will never be right. Society has become too politically correct to allow the ride to reflect the romanticized view we have of pirates. People are too easy offended by fictional ideas.

Too address the man or woman replacement issue… Use Elizabeth Swann and Will Turner. With Elizabeth Swann we saw a character grow to embrace piracy. With Will Turner we see an honorable black and white guy develop into a character that embraced some of the ideals of piracy without completely losing his sense of right and wrong.

  13. Beverly

Captain Jack Sparrow is Johnny Depp and he is the only Captain Jack Sparrow. Disney is making a horrible mistake replacing him especially with a female. She may be a good actress for other parts but never this one. I agree let Elizabeth Swann or Will Turner be his replacement. But why in the world remove Johnny before he is proven guilty. Dior still has faith in him so why not Disney! I will not go to see this film if Johnny is replaced.

    1. BluesMessiah

They aren’t replacing him. They’re making a movie about a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT CHARACTER.

      1. Morgan

Right?!?! It’s almost as if the folks commenting on the movies are no more well-informed than the folks leveling misogynist contempt at Amber Heard.

        1. Bluesmessiah

These people just want to be angry. They don’t care about being honest.

      2. Emma

And extremely poor pr & marketing by disney. The should of said we are doing a pirate movie & introducing new characters. & not announce they are dropping depp.

  14. S

Jack Sparrow never even belonged in the ride in the first place. Pirates will one day be restored to its original storyline complete with the bride auction (and the redhead) along with the original chase scene with the woman in the barrel hiding from the “pooped pirate.” Pirates the ride and Pirates the movies should be kept segregated from each other.

  15. Jim

Absolutely not. Without Mr Depp, this great francjse is over. Disney are fools! they need to stop using his likeness to make more money on him! Thieves.

    1. BluesMessiah

LOL. Tell me, did you get this irate when they made Marvel movies that didn’t include Iron Man?

  16. Lee

    This isn’t a story. It’s a comment by a random person.

Here is a comment by a random person.

The writer should get another job and stop being a waste of space and try and bring meaning to their life.
    Commentor suggests.

  17. BluesMessiah

“fans have already boycotted future films..” LOL. Tell me, how do you POSSIBLY boycott something that hasn’t happened yet? You can THREATEN to boycott – and a lot of the idiots threatening to boycott also threaten to boycott all kinds of things that they never actually boycott. Heck, 90% of them have been boycotting everything Disney supposedly for the past decade so this shouldn’t matter anyway.

  18. Leave Capt. Jack along. I didn’t like it when they took out the red head. If some thing like the ‘auction’ of a fictional character upsets you then STAY HOME!!
People need to keep their hurt feeling off of and out of a perfect ride where you get to laugh and just have a great time. WDW should always be so out of reality!! That is why some of us go!!!

  19. Victor

Replacing Mr Depp may lead to the end of Pirates of the Caribbean. I’d rather rewatch all than see another Jack

  20. Val

So much for innocent until proven guilty. I hope he sues the crap out of Disney and they gotta put him back.

    1. Bluesmessiah

LOL. Sue them for what exactly? Do you think Robert Downie Jr. can sue Disney for making a Marvel movie that didn’t have Iron Man too? It’s the same exact thing. They decided to make a Pirates movie about another character. There’s nothing illegal about that, and you know it.

  21. Duane

With the way Disney has been fumbling almost everything of late ,with horrible series with terrible writing, even affected both the Star Wars and Marvel franchises its no wonder how they’re going to ruin yet another franchise with replacement of a strong male character, to that of a female? We’ve seen that fail in so many awful reboots of late, might as well add Pirates of the Caribbean to that list of failures!

    1. Morgan

“A strong male character?” So now it’s not only in domestic abuse victims, but in the world of movies that you guys are creating some narrative that men are unfairly under-represented?

  22. Diggy Breiling

I will not only boycott Pirates of the Caribbean with Johnny Depp replaced on Disney’s assumption of his guilt based on Amber’s lies, but I will protest Disney and Pirates without Johnny.

    #hetoo

    1. Morgan

Sounds good (having you guys outside, while the rest of us are in the movie enjoying Margot Robbie and inside the park, enjoying a misogynist-free day of fun).

  23. Chris

The new Animatronic will also look like Hillary Clinton.

  24. Morgan

Disney does well to ditch Depp; none of his behavior or words are ok for a family-entertainment company that supports women. Welcome, Margot Robbie! But for the ride: a return to its pure original form would be best.

  25. Christine

Shame on Disney! Innocent till proven guilty. He has done some great things outside of the movies as Jack Sparrow. He was the main character. I won’t watch another Disney movie as this is terrible.

  26. Brenda

I will not watch another Disney movie again and canceled Disney plus. This is the camel that broke changing the Original Disney movies I and done.

  27. Emma

Disney never should have weighed in a tabliod hollywood divorce scandal. Announcing that cancelled his contract was thier 1st big misstep. He was never charged for ant crime. 2nd misstep was tying the new pirate movie to the old. Simply announcing they were introducing new characters instead of replacing depp was huge mistake. Had they made it clear he wasnt being replaced and this movie is set with an entirely new set of characters & different story lines.

  28. Matt

Disney should never have altered the original vision of Walt Disney and left the ride alone.

  29. FT

My whole family is Done with Disney. Cancelled all memberships for good, too many other good options out there. Goodbye Disney….That’s all folks….
