They need to get rid of all annual passes for all the parks. I know people who go to Disneyland weekly. It’s ridiculous. People save and spend thousands to go for a couple crowded days. Regular guests can easily fill the parks now.
Hate to break the news…my family had annual premium passes. That cost us 1200 x 5. $6,000 to go to the park. We eat at the park and pay extra for the special events. Annually, that could cost us as much as $10,000. If my tiny spend is insignificant…Dusney can keep their passes as is and still make your stay horrible. The Pixie Dyst oass is not what I want. There was not a population explosion and all of the sudden 10 million are going to the park annually. This has been the case ALWAYS. I live in Florida in the tourist triangle of torture…you are welcome to come and visit our parks and other sites. We would like to enjoy these as well. Turns out I get to tolerate the ridiculous traffic and can’t go out to eat anywhere because we must yield the way for you…our guests. This is hiw we are gonna do this now. Tally Ho! Without my $10k
I don’t think so……I’m a Florida resident, but it takes me 2 1/2 hours of perilous driving on I-75 and I-4 to risk my life to get there. Maybe if YOU stayed home the parks would be more accessible for everyone else.
Being out of state with plane tickets, hotel reservations, 5-day hoppers and all that goes with a Disney vacation, we easily drop 20K for our family for a week. So yes, regular guests per day spend way more. And we get the super crowded experience while others who visit every week crowd up the parks. APs pay pennies a day compared to those of us who save $1500 a month toward our once a year vacation.
Better idea: get rid of all tickets that AREN’T annual passes. Just think of all the people who drive or fly from across the country to get to Disney. It would help the environment if we cut down on all that travel and kept the Disney parks only for the people who live nearby!
This is a horrible idea, but it’s not as bad as your idea.
It’s not the annual pass holders that are the problem, it’s Disney’s poor management that are. Ever since Chapek took over things have changed. They don’t care if there are crowds and you are waiting in line all day having a miserable time. It’s all about how Disney can maximize profits.
Not entirely true. We went recently during a spring break week which is a busy time. Only time Main Street was busiest was at the beginning of the day and the end of the day. Disney is doing a good job with limiting daily crowd levels.
We had a great experience with no more than a 45 minute wait for rides at peak times.
We went to Disneyland on Friday, April 29, 2022. It didn’t appear attendance was restricted. It was very crowded. The Disney app Genie+ helps but it’s expensive and annoying to use your phone for everything. I couldn’t purchase Dolewhip without using the app? Disappointing
There used to be this amazing slow season at DL in January and February, and that’s when we would always go for our annual visit. I don’t think we will ever see that again. I miss just walking up to the Dole Whip!
I went back in January. Typically the third week hasn’t been crowded. That’s not true anymore. The parks appear to be packed, but it’s because Disney is staffing at reduced levels. For example, to buy a souvenir might take 10 minutes. But there would have been 3-4 registers open. On my trip, it took a half hour because there was only one register open. Cost cuts and added fees for everything has taken the Magic away. I usually went twice a year. Now, a five day trip cost over $10,000; I paid that last year for 10+ days. And I’ve made the painful decision not to return for many years, or until the situation changes. Bob Chapek must go. I’m going to a 7 day Caribbean trip to an all inclusive luxury resort instead.
Just got home today May 9 from four days at Disney. The crowd levels were not insane, the lines for attractions were not bad considering what we’ve experienced before. We went to 2 different parks and had a wonderful time. Definitely nothing insane about any of it.
I was at Epcot on Sunday. The crowds were small. Most rides were a walk-on – 15 min wait. The festival booth lines were also super manageable. Your articles are always so false. The photo was probably taken at the exact minute the parade is over, when yes mAin street is very crowded but then everyone walks away
Disney needs to implement lower crowd numbers in their parks so all can enjoy. Disney is too Greedy and is only concerned about $$$$$$$$. They could care less about you. Stop going and send Disney a message. Why would you go to the parks anyway with high crowds. Your wasting your hard earned money and your spending most of your day standing in long lines……Ridiculous!!!!
We went to Magic Kingdom this past Saturday. It was busy, but not crazy. We actually got a decent spot on Main Street to watch the fireworks at 8:50 pm. It was not packed. Very enjoyable.
Once the live shows open fully and the construction walls/detours go away, parks will be as they were in the past. Visiting WDW around any holiday will be busier and more crowded than normal.
Bs…my family spends more on APs merchandise food than any of you day visitors. The anger should not be at each other it should be on disney not limiting the guests per day. They have the control.
It makes no sense that, despite having a reservations system, crowd levels in the parks are so high. Clearly, the Company WANTS it this way! It’s almost as if they are trying to DISCOURAGE the public from visiting. I can only ask… WHY???????
To bad this wasn’t crowd levels and I have pictures and video taken through out the day that look drastically different from this. Crowds were not insane or high and ride wait times were low compared to other times I’ve visited in recent months.
Comments for Disney Guests Take Over Main Street, U.S.A. Due to Insane Crowd Levels

Wow, get a life!
Donna
My annual pass is none of your business.
Martin
Why spend “thousands” to go once when you could get a pass and go when you want?

As a Passholder trust me when I say, we spend thousands as well.
Parks weren’t insane this past weekend. Crowded yes, but we did everything we wanted at Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios.

This is why Disneyland will always be better. I was in Disneyland for a week and it was very empty

And people believe them when they say the reservation system is to “keep the crowds manageable” 🤣

Another example of the park reservation system is a scam…but if you actually believe these money grubbing liars- thats on you

It’s possible for “Epcot wasn’t crowded” and “Magic Kingdom was crowded” to both be true at the same time. That doesn’t mean the article is false.

“Large number of guests ‘take over’ an area that is explicitly designed for large number of guests to be in.”
Well, that certainly is some kind of take.

They were not this high I was personally there. Comfortable crowd levels don’t make for a good story.
Jerry
When the recession hits, that’s when crowd levels will pull back some. Right now everyone is spending money like crazy.
