I know the park pride’s itself on being clean, but that doesn’t mean the walkways are sanitary. I couldn’t imagine taking my shoes off there for any reason, that’s what’s great about flipflops.

    1. Dee

People for some unknown reason, SPIT ON THE GROUND AND SPIT THEIR GUM OUT !!!!!!

      GROSS 🤮 !!!!

      1. Carol

That’s why they don’t sell gum in the parks. Unfortunately some people bring their own, then spit it on the ground rather than walk the 8 feet to a trash can.

  2. Rox

Pretty idiotic to walk barefoot on the ground anywhere that’s not a beach or pool.

    1. Toby

If the beach is near a city, you DEFINTELY don’t want to walk on the sand barefoot (syringes).

      1. Frank

        Glass and obviously hot sand

  3. If a cast member sees you with out your shoes they will tell you to put them on. Just wear sandals that if they get wet will dry fast.

  4. I have inherited peripheral neuropathy and prone to foot infections. No way would I walk on that hardscape barefoot. I did get an infected blood blister (under the skin surface on the foot pad behind the toes) on my last trip and I was wearing sandals walking in the rain. The podiatrist said it was from the moisture. Wear shoes or sandals–I recommend any Sketchers Max Cushioning products

    1. Mark Kaplan

I’m pretty sure wear wet sandals or any soaked footwear would get you the worst painful trench foot possible. I had that years ago at the most rainy season during summer camp.

      1. Becky Mays

I take a change of socks. I no longer have the stamina to walk an entire park due to spine injuries and neuropathy. Even just sitting with wet feet is miserable. Travel size powder and dry socks come in handy. Bring a few pair and a ziplock bag in your go bag for the day. Throw in a few band-aids just in case. Have them and not need them than need them and not have them.

People are disgusting. If someone wants to walk around a germ-infested environment with no shoes and then the next day find out they attracted a foot disease or whatever, don’t blame others for YOUR stupidity. Actually I would applaud right to that someone’s face and say good👏 job👏stupid👏 idiot👏

  6. Jennifer

Really? I don’t see why this is such a problem for people. It’s literally none of your business, they are not hurting anyone or anything. For one, why are you worried about someone else’s feet getting infected or injured? If they aren’t worried about it, you definitely shouldn’t be worrying about it. For two, are they walking on people’s food tables? Rubbing their feet on people? No. It is completely ridiculous people are even contemplating this as an issue. You have no idea why they have removed their shoes in the first place. Their shoes could be rubbing their feet and causing painful blisters, it gives relief to remove the shoes and prevent further pain and make it through the rest of the day. I myself have had that happen and I had to walk barefoot the remainder of the day, except when I rode a ride, I would put them back on. And three, how is someone else not wearing their shoes gross FOR YOU? Like I said did they out their feet on you or your table, NO! So that doesn’t even make sense so many people find it gross for someone else to walk around on theme park black top and brick paths barefoot. And you’re acting like its this huge amount of people doing it when it’s actually very few people. So in other words, worry about your own feet and your own health, because their’s is none of your business.

    1. EricJ

They ARE worrying about their own feet and health. And all the other paying guests, who do follow the rules.
Consider shoes as masks for your dirty feet.

      1. Puckles

Shut the hell up. They are IN NO WAY endangering you, ya male KAREN.

      2. Mark L Sheldon

        No

    2. KGB

Absolutely. Everybody should mind their own business. Pretty sure if they broke a rule they’d want others to be quiet, too.

    3. Puckles

      True.

    4. Marie

Bare feet are repulsive to me, lmao. I don’t want to see them at Disney.

      1. Mark L Sheldon

Some peoples faces are to me should you have to ware a mask for me

  7. Mark Kaplan

“No shoes, no shirt, no service…..”

    1. ANN

Exactly. No one wants to see people walking around clean facilities dressed like they do at home.

  8. Tim

I would like to point out a little history to the no shoes, no shirts, no service thing. Contrary to popular belief this has nothing to do with health and safety. This was started in the late 1960s when hippies were a big thing. Stores started this as a discriminatory way to keep hippies out of their stores, because hippies did not often wear shoes and shirts. If you look at most Public health laws there is no mention of requiring shoes and shirts. People for 100s of thousands years went barefoot most of the time. While I prefer shoes I do respect that some people prefer no shoes. If you find it so discussing then don’t date or marry someone that doesn’t wear shoes. There is no difference between bare feet and shoed feet when it comes to spread of dangerous diseases.

    1. Feral Barbarian

Why does this outrage people so much? Doesn’t really affect them, if someone else wants to wander around with no shoes more power to them. Sure they may get injured but more than likely it doesn’t affect you one bit. Like do you expect that you may get a fungus on the bottom of your shoe? Don’t know how people could even walk into a restroom if that was a thing. Honestly gives “ew who let poor people and dirt children into our beautiful park vibes, I demand security to take these rapscalions away lest they befoul me and mine with their presence” vibes.

  9. AH

    How moronic can you be?

  10. ANN

Ever since that bald headed guy took over Disney, things have been going downhill. 1.They closed most of their Disney stores. 2. Their stock dropped. 3. Guests have been engaging in constant fights. 4. Their prices have skyrocked. So not surprised.

  11. Mickeymouse3

Disney has a policy that shoes must be worn.
I guess it’s becoming typical behavior for some to think rules don’t apply to them.
A huge part of what’s wrong with today’s society.

  12. Becky Mays

I’m white myself. Your comment is beyond ignorant at best. I would almost guarantee you it’s white people going barefoot, not that it matters who it is. It’s unsanitary. Would you want to eat and smell stinky feet or sit in a seat that had athletes foot rubbed all over it? Six Flags wouldn’t even tolerate this.

    1. Mark L Sheldon

i’d rather not smell people at all their funky arses

  13. Rachel Winiecki

Going barefoot is inviting injury. If you get a blister in your new shoes
You can skwsys get flip flops to protect yourself. Unless of course folks see looking for a lawsuit.

  14. KD

This comment deserves a red flag. That is not okay.

  15. LaShawn

Well, I see one of the ignorant folks showed up. No matter where you are or what you are doing you can always expect these idiots to appear. I am a person of color and consider this bastard to be just that – a worthless bastard.

    1. J

LaShawn, this guy is just a troll that spends a lot of time in the comments section of these articles trying to get a rise out of people by making some kind of stupid comment based on whatever the story is about. It’s always best to make a policy of just ignoring these people who do this kind of thing because they are desperate for attention and get a thrill out of thinking they started arguments over one thing or another.

    2. La Shawn, I couldn’t agree with you more!!!

  16. Janny

No, no, no!! Why would someone THINK of doing this?! Do NOT walk barefoot in this park! All you have to do is look at the pavement on Main Street. Yes, Disney cleans that nightly, but you can still see dirt in the pavement. Plus, the pavement gets HOT here in FL…. I live in FL and I know from experience…. even many pet owners put coverings on their pet’s paws before walking them. It’s protection from the burning surface. It is unsanitary and yes, gross. Wear sandals or crocs. I’m surprised cast members didn’t get to them…. but we all know they will eventually.

3 things bugged me about a day at Disneyland on April 21, 2022: Maybe 1 in 10 people wore masks, even indoors. Walking through the TSA line at SNA airport, asked how often they clean the floor that everyone without shoes walks on. No more hand sanitizer, and seeing guests leave the bathroom without washing their hands.

  18. Pat

What’s really gross is having to sit in a ride seat that was just vacated by a “plus size” female with shorts so small, short and tight that who knows what kind of fungal material was deposited/left behind from what was hanging out when they exited the ride. Makes the bare feet issue seem like a walk in the park.

    1. Mary Miewald

You make a great point Pat, except for the :size” part. Last year I was at Disneyland and saw a girls bottom hanging out because her shorts were so short. It was disgusting and she was not plus size. Still no one wants to see that. I complained to a cast member and was told they are not allowed to tell them any thing but I could get security if I wanted. I was annoyed by the fact masks had to be worn but this girl could have her butt exposed and who knows if small children would be touching the same surfaces!

      1. Mark L Sheldon

        Ooooh booohoo

  19. Paul W

Don’t see why this bugs people so much. Shoe soles are no cleaner than bare feet, in fact they are likely worse because more things stick to rubber than to human skin. And people without shoes don’t put their feet anywhere they are not supposed to any more than people who wear shoes do. As for people concerned about the smell…fact is, when your feet are exposed to the air, they don’t smell any worse than your hands do. What makes them stink is the sweat that accumulates in socks or shoes, which promotes athletes foot and when you take socks off you let it out all at once. But exposed to air and free evaporation, no sweat accumulates and therefore they don’t stink.

2 Words- Bloodborne Pathogens. You go barefoot, you get a cut, you track it wherever you go next – pavement, a restaurant floor (where children are notorious for crawling) or carpeting. HIV, HBV, AND HCV are all carried in human blood.

    1. Mark L Sheldon

Not an issue id rather have feet then nasty babies

  21. Heidi Claire

    I admit defeat.

  22. That is by far THE most RACIST comment I’ve seen on this thread so far!!! You should be ashamed of yourself.

  23. Renay

Going around barefoot in any of the parks is unsanitary and harmful! You don’t know what you could step on or contract. You could even bet the one leaving something there..

On my last trip, just a few weeks ago, I took notice of the cleanliness of the Magic Kingdom. It was definitely not what it used to be. There were pieces of wrappers and random food items around. Some of the attractions could of used a paint touch up. Even some of the trash cans were full and needed to be changed. In all of my trips, never had I seen it like this. I know that there is a staff shortage but they need to consider raising the pay too. There is plenty of money in this company to do so.

Lastly, on the “dress code”, I have never seen so many females violating it! It wasn’t just in one park either, it was all four! I get that it is hot and you want a great tan but I really don’t want to see your bra or sports bra, and/or your bikini top. Not one cast member offered to rectify it either.

In the last 5 years I have noticed little things and would love to see things back to where they were
8-10 years ago. Make it affordable for a family of 4 or more to go there again.
    Bring back the magic.
