I was just at Disney Springs on the 24th, we must have just missed the crowds, we got a parking space on the ground level, and the Disney store wasn’t as packed as I’ve been in before. We tried doing a “walk in” at Paddlefish, but were told, they don’t take “same day” reservations (huh?) is that the same as they don’t take walk in’s? Didn’t seem busy, but maybe they don’t have the staff to take care of “walk in’s” Unless you’ve been living on a deserted island, most everyone takes advantage of a Holiday weekend and visit the area, which, of course, becomes overcrowded. My opinion is that is anyone chooses to visit any destination on a holiday weekend, Yup, it’s going to be crowded
Be assured that these stories are for “damage control”. I don’t buy them for a second. Disney is not getting the crowds or making the money they were prior to their woke tantrum. We live by Disney, and the tourists crowds just aren’t apparent. They’re pulling this “crowded” story with their parks also, but one should question how that contradicts with Disney no longer going back to full capacity by using limited capacity.
These stories are for the purpose of damage control (like, see, everything is really okay). I call BS. They’ve lost business.
My family and I were just at Disney World for the past eight days and the crowd levels where very large, more than most crowd predictions by 1-3 levels depending on the park and day. I would hate to see a 10 crowd day it would be total gridlock. We still had a good time but it was very crowded, I was worried before we went because I had read a number of these stories before going. There is a reason why the parks have set revenue records for the past two quarters and it’s not just that everything has gotten more expensive, Genie+ and Individual Lightening Lanes, not bringing back all staff that where furloughed which definitely contributed to the crazy revenue numbers.
You can still have a good time at Disney World but you need to plan in order to do so and be prepared to have way less personal space than you’d like.
Park passes used for “crowd control”. I don’t but it. Disney uses it for “payroll control” by knowing number of guest in each park daily the know how many CMs they need to work the parks and can move people around accordingly. Hence when people ask CM a question they don’t have answer as not familiar with all parks. Also, remark made by Josh D’Amico referring to crowds at DS and will not implement pass system there. How can they??? Only way is charge for parking nights and weekends and that will keep locals from using DS as a hangout like they do with malls (wasn’t that a problem with Westside?) help with resort guests in having an enjoyable shopping spree. They can take buses from resorts. I know stores will hurt but locals will have free parking by having a ticket stamped to shop In off hours. It’s ludicrous to think all those locals are purchasing the high end clothing and paying the prices with the outlet mall down the street. I am a local (live hour away) and also own DVC so stay at park often (I shop at DS while staying on site) do day trips often but not a shopping destination for me
