While I wouldn’t consider selling my car, I do think the cost of DVC membership is worth it. My wife and I are both long time members of DVC, we have ownership interests in Disney Beach Club Villas, Saratoga Springs Resort, Bay Lake Towers, and Copper Creek Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. We use our points for numerous things. From staying at Disney resorts, cruising on Disney cruise ships, and staying in non Disney hotels around the country. I,ve also made my children associate members and they have used our points to vacation on our own. As far as how we purchased our points, we always took out a loan through Disney at whatever rate at the time, and paid it off. Sometimes we would have 2 loans at a time if a really good deal was offered on points. Usually we got our best deals on cruise ships. We currently have over 900 points. We plan on passing our points down to our children if we pass before our points expire. I think its a worthwhile investment if you love Disney.
