Just another wanna be thug trying to flex. He’s just lucky it was Chris Rock. One of the nicest celebrities you’ll meet. Had it been someone else he may have been arrested or worse, they may have fought back. Being tough on camera vs real life are very different things. Might not have looked liked such a sucker if he wasn’t cracking up at the joke moments earlier.
Completely agree. He deserves all the backlash he gets. Ban him from further attendance at any Oscar shows, too. He is disgusting & disgraceful. His apologies are hollow. Cancellation request, please!!
I’m so sick of that entire family! Their family has been in the news to often lately and it’s all been a bit much! My advice: take a good, long trip somewhere far away and stay out of the public eye!!
Why did Denzel, Tyler, and Brian, all comfort him? They should have been comforting Chris Rock. The Academy should have had him removed for us, the viewers. He should have been removed, like anyone else. He’s NO ONE SPECIAL!!
He was damned if he did and damned if he didn’t. Had he not retaliated those who never made a mistake in their lives would be having a go at him for not sticking up for his wife, I’ll get shouted down that I’m wrong, but I don’t think I am. I will keep watching old episodes of Fresh Prince and watch his movies. I think Chris Rock should speak out about it too, rather than relishing what’s happening, he was in the wrong too for poking fun at a woman suffering from hair loss – whether he knew or didn’t, he needs to address that. You watch, there’ll be an Oprah special sooner than later interviewing them both.
Baloney – your first instinct shouldn’t be violence, period.
He could’ve easily handled it like a man: defended her with his voice (without cursing), he could’ve walked out with her, he could’ve sat there and done nothing, among many other non-violent solutions that would’ve made Rock look a lot worse than Smith by taking the upper road.
Yes, we all make mistakes, but he also did this in front of his peers, his employers, and in front of the whole world on live television. A psychologist might suggest that subconsciously, he intentionally chose that moment to “lose it”. Maybe the guy needs a break from the public eye for a bit…
In my opinion…everyone is making this out to be much worse than it was. Yes..Will Smith slapped Chris Rock, but Chris Rock should NEVER have made a comment about Jada at all….even if he didn’t know about her alopecia. Second…..was Chris Rock left permanently disfigured from the slap to where he is now unable to ever work again….NO he is not. With everyone saying that Will should be arrested and fired from acting althogether….it shows that NOT ONE OF YOU WOULD EVER STAND UP AND PROTECT YOUR LOVED ONES. You are all saying that it’s perfectly acceptable to be a bully and make jokes about others even if it hurts them. Stop and actually think about how you would feel if you were losing your hair due to alopecia and someone made fun of your looks. Jada has been told by others to just wear a wig and get over her issue….she wants to accept how she looks. NO ONE should ever make fun of her even if it was that she could make a sequel to a movie. SO TO EVERYONE WHO HATES WILL SMITH FOR PROTECTING HIS WIFE……YOU ARE ALL BULLIES. YOU HAVE NO RESPECT FOR ANYONE. Will has apologized to Chris and the academy, plus to all those who attended the awards show. Chris needs to move on from it and everyone needs to use what little brains they have and think….did Will cause any problems for others in any of the movies he made….if not then let him work. By cancelling all of his projects over a pathetic little tiny slap…….YOU ARE ALL PATHETIC.
What’s pathetic is justifying physical violence over a verbal insult. No Chris Rock shouldn’t have made the joke. And no one is defending the joke. And no one would have blamed Smith for making a statement defending his wife, but physical violence crossed the line. The bully was the person getting physical and slapping a man. Smith has proven that he has no self-control and no respect for the people that he works with. That’s the reason no one wants to work with him. I’m sure his career isn’t over, but a nice long stretch of time to get therapy for his anger issues and sort out his messy personal life will probably do him good.
It is obvious there has been a lot of emotional distress behind closed doors about her condition. And who knows, she may have been in distress showing up to the Oscars just prior to all of what occurred. Will going off the way he did wasn’t what should have occured, at all. But not to bring Ukraine into this, but it seems some people are more disturbed by the fact that someone got slapped at the Oscar’s over what’s happening in Europe. I want off of this planet.

Smith should be canceled– but first he should be arrested and charged with battery.

The “comfort” was praying with him, backstage, to let his anger go and be a “vessel of love”.

If Chris had tried to block Will from smacking him, ducked, or back away, how far would Will go to hit? Will deserves to be held accountable

Struggling to find work? That’s a shame. It’s a good thing he’s already extraordinarily wealthy, I guess.

Heidi. Do you find it difficult being universally disliked by everyone in your life?
We all know a Heidi.
