Smith brought it on himself. He’s a grown man and knows there are consequences to his actions, and especially with this one being premeditated in that he had plenty of time to stop himself on the walk up to the stage and then walking back to his table to sit down before shouting obscenities. It was a sucker punch and he deserves whatever punishment comes his way. He’s lost a lot of respect where he once had it. He was a role model, now he’s a pariah.
Chris Rock should also be banned for some time, he was just plain mean and that shouldn’t be tolerated either. Not saying he should have been punched over it, but he shouldn’t get off with no punishment.
I and many of our friends and family here in Australia, absolutely praise the Academy for imposing the start, to consequences Will Smith should receive. He needs to be striped of his award as well. The academy should have removed him from the room immediately.
It was Pre meditated assault. How he was allowed to remain and take the stage,
leaves us in disbelief.
He is no different to any one in this world, who should face the full extent of the law.
Imagine the amount of pressure mentally Chris Rock is carrying right now and will do so for the rest of his life. What example is this setting. Will everyone be allowed to do this with no repercussions?
We take our hat off to how Chris handled himself, the situation and media since this sickening broadcast around the world.
Why was Chris Rock mentioning Jada in the first place? So many other jokes he could have told, yet he chose to make one about Jada. What’s the real, underlying reason?
Will Smith doesn’t need the Oscars to support his career.
Personally, I think it’s admirable that he stuck up for his wife. Maybe not the proper way, but he still stood by her.
