  1. That’s weird.

  2. Em

They’re bringing back the scifi city idea kinda. Neat!

    1. CJ

Basically Tokyo Disney’s Tomorrowland is getting a needed rehab (something Disneyland’s needed for 20 years!) 🤷🏼‍♂️

      1. Pete

The original space mountain is not in Florida. It is in the original Disneyland in Anaheim California.

        1. David

That’s not accurate. Disney World’s opened first. Disneyland had the first Splash and Big Thunder, however.

          1. EmEm

Im a-ok with a redo. But if they try and hp and completely remove space mountain, especially the one at the magic kingdom. Oh boy you thought the outrage and backlash from mr toad was bad.. mm yeah but a retrack is fine gor disney world. Just keep the two track design.

          2. Scott Lee-Ross

This has nothing to do with Magic Kingdom.

        2. Zara

          Yes it is

      2. Maybe you should just stop going to Disneyland! 😄

  3. David

They are rebuilding/replacing the roller coaster too, as they did with the California Disneyland version several years ago. So Space Mountain is not closing permanently.

    1. Vlm

That was my problem with this article, too…

  4. The Patriot

Oriental Land Company continues its winning streak by actually investing in the parks, maintaining them, and treating its cast members well. The student has become the teacher, and now western Disney properties in the states need to take notes from Japan.

    1. This doesn’t surprise me, bunch of people, years, addicted to Disney, most of them can’t read or keep up the truth, what was done during the pandemic when the whole world was shut down, and in 2020, put a bunch of rude ceos that didn’t have a clue how to handle the Disney parks, or anything. Theres a bunch of you tube videos people, that worked for Disney, how awful they were treated the reopening and went to work Universal, paid more money and treated better respect and honor.

  5. Chris

It appears to be a cream pie, sir.

    1. Em

Its not gonna start construction for at least another 2 years, it’s probably a early design. I like what theyre going for but its clear its still a concept sketch. Also the roof was probably put at an angle so you could see it in the art

  6. Joseph godleski

Why don’t they just leave the classic attractions and rides alone first they changed pirates of the Caribbean
Then they changed the ride based on the movie
Songs of the south they are changing everything that
Woke and political correctness Sees as. Racist
What is next genderless Disney characters
They will have to rid the park of all the Disney characters
They have because they are not in line with woke and pc standards

    1. Billy

LOL. Sir, with all due respect, if you don’t have the comprehension skills that it takes to understand what this 2-minute article was about, just keep watching your JAG reruns.

      1. julian h

I love the show Jag LOL

    2. DO

I think Hannity is calling you back to your TV. How could you leave him for so long?

    3. I don’t look at all the changes as political, but you’re right that they should leave things the way they were. I cried for days when they took away the Country Bear Jamboree away! And now with the changes to the Swiss family Robinson and so many more, so many fans are sad, esp me!

  7. Phil

I rode space mountain 2 days before the official opening. What a thrill. As of this time, Disney’s woke attitude forces me to no longer be a fan of Disney. I will no longer spend any money for anything Disney. This is coming from a customer who has spent over a 100k for Disney products over the last 50 yrs.

    1. Kevin

Too bad Phil. I’ll ride Space mountain for you!
      Take care!

    2. DonB

Disney’s “ woke “ attitude ??? You mean because Disney is inclusive unlike the administration in the state of Florida…

    3. Joe

      You won’t be missed

      1. Miller

I ditto Joe’s remark, you won’t be missed. I have so much respect for Disney standing up to Florida’s governor.

        1. Em

Yeah, though in my honest opinion i think they should have just said “we dont want to upset anyone so we are going to reamain nuetral, however we will stop political donations. The magic of disney si for everyone therefore we must make sure nobody is left out. But idk maybe its just too many people are stuck in the past. Its 2022 people! Gay people exist

          1. Angry Soviet

And nothing about what’s going on in Florida has anything to do with people being gay!

          2. Scott Lee-Ross

Yes, it does. This is all in regards to a law signed by DeSantis that prohibits mentioning Sexual Orientation in K-3. Sexual Orientation is part of life and is recognized by many in those grade levels. Why does Billy have 2 moms or Sally have 2 dads? Because of their sexual orientation.

          3. Emem

In my opinion its also a matter of how the bill will lead to worse and more limiting bills overtime. Sure k-3 is reasonable, but the number of anti lgbt legislation is rising every year. They already released false and untrue advisories discouraging social transition for youth, which was by the Florida health department and is a politically charged and biased advisory. Its going to keep getting worse to the point where it starts hurting people. thats me at least.

    4. Vlm

Oh, horrors! Disney is daring to actually adapt to what the majority of fans want to see! So HORRIBLE for people to want to be treated, you know, like PEOPLE and not trash! So excruciatingly painful for Disney to dare to care more about the kids it’ll get 50 more years of consumerism out of than an old fart whose buying power will last MAYBE another decade!

  8. Carol

Seems like a much needed enhancement.

I don’t think Walt would have ever envisioned leaving dated attractions in the park simply because they were classic. Tomorrowland was meant to represent human progress. I see no reason why Walt wouldn’t want to modernize Space Mountain with an improved track and new special effects.

Obviously it will depend on the end result, but this should definitely be a step in the right direction. Hope the US parks do the same once this proves successful.

    1. Jill

I doubt he would support child grooming.

      1. Scott Lee-Ross

Jill, you are displaying your ignorance.
Child Grooming? That implies that sexual orientation is determined by the school teachers. Something that science has shown is not true. Understanding that sexual orientation is not something you are groomed into would go a long way in your development as a human.

  9. Nooooooooo

    Noooooooooooooooooooooo
    I Love that Ride

    1. Em

They are still keeping it! Just redoing it!

    2. Michael

I would like to see what they have in mind and maybe even go for a ride on this new Space Mountain when it’s done

    3. Vlm

…do you go to Tokyo often, then?

  10. Ashtiiii

Wonder what IP they’ll shove there?

  11. Bill

    PedoLand???

    Asking for a friend…

  12. EricJ

Okay, show of hands: How many read the article and know this is in Tokyo?
    (notes) Good.

Whether WDW gets one depends a lot on whether they go forward with Spaceship Earth’s reported redo (pre-pandemic), which would need to be rebuilt from the ground up to modernize the track system…Which needs it. BADLY.
Not sure whether Space Mountain WDW has the same track problem, or whether the track was built into the foundation like SE’s, but it certainly feels like an old-school attraction.

  13. What about the Tomorrowland at Walt Disney World in Florida? Will it also be permanently closed? I went to Tomorrowland nearly 40 years ago.

    1. Ronald

Unfortunately, with age often comes senility (no Sleepy Joe jokes please). No Adam, Tomorrowland at WDW will not close permanently and your ancestors will be able to go to Tomorrowland 40 years from now, but it won’t be the same Tomorrowland you visited 40 years ago. The Golden Girls reruns start at 3:00, be sure to set your VCR to record them.

      1. Billy

        Lol 😂

  14. Someone Else

This park isn’t owned by The Walt Disney Company, so it has nothing to actually do with Disney. The company that owns that park pays foe the name use and marketing use.

  15. 16. Oracle

Too bad Disneyland in Cali has the worst Tomorrowland imaginable still.

  17. Broc

My suggestion for Disneyand’s Tomorrowland? Duplicate and bring back the 1967 makeover. The original Peoplemover, Rocket Jets, Carousel of Progress, Mission to Mars, and an all-new high-tech Adventure Thru Inner Space. Dump the tired Star Tours as there’s enough Star Wars in the park today. Stop trying to continually “futurize” the land and take it back to a stylized vision of tomorrow that actually has some charm and, in its own way, nostalgia.
