My guess is that, with high expectations for this particular film, its own trailer would probably get in its way and set even higher, unfair/unrealistic expectations.
Remember, the trailer for Thor: Ragnarok was probably the most beloved MCU trailer ever, and teased (and spoiled) the Hulk co-starring in it, but the movie lived up to the hype caused by the trailer.
So there’s already a high bar to set here, and this film is in a precarious position of ending Chris Hemsworth’s run, bringing back Natalie Portman’s not-beloved Jane, and setting up a side story for the Guardians. Plus, it probably builds on what will happen in Dr Strange: MoM, which has been spoiled enough already.
I thus think being left in the dark here gives the film a fighting chance; tempering expectations.
It’s probably because a trailer would spoil stuff that happens in Doctor Strange Multiverse of Madness. My guess is they’ll release the trailer after the movie comes out, like they did for Doctor Strange after Spiderman No Way Home.
This. I love Marvel movies and its storytelling, and am really looking forward to the trailer and the next movies themselves as well; but seriously, there’s more to life, guys, so freakin’ relax. I’m sure this approach is to keep all of the story from being revealed early.
I’d agree that they’re obviously waiting for multiverse of madness to release before moving on to Thor…then again the cynical side of me sees ESG scores becoming a more and more apparent money laundering scheme in Hollywood too, so hey, why not both?
Why need a trailer at this point?
The rabid fans counting down the days left before the movie and no trailer are already doing enough to drum up business for the movie. In Marvel’s mind anyone who cares about a trailer will already be seeing it in the first week so they don’t need to convince those people. Then they just throw out a few tv ads for the more casual viewer who will see it the second or third week.
They don’t need to do billboards or print ads because people without tv OR internet probably aren’t likely to see it anyway.
It’s actually a very clever and CHEAP means of marketing. Instead of a 120 mil marketing campaign they can do 20 and pocket that extra 100mil
People are gonna see it no matter what cause it’s Marvel. Whether it has an amazing trailer or a crap it doesn’t matter so who cares if they don’t release one.
That’s it Cherry! They don’t want to reveal the trailer now because it can spoil Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness. Just keep waiting guys. Sometimes,we need to get some surprises.
They are waiting for moon knight to finish where they will unleash gorr the God butcher. It’s too spoilers.
Be patient . This is fake manipulation hype
Comments for ‘Thor 4’ a “Money Laundering Scheme,” Trailer “Just Annoying”

The lack of a trailer, or even preview/review clips, had some fans smelling a studio-buried disaster.
The Waititi-esque “New Asgard tourism” joke would seem to confirm it.

Y’all just spoiled and entitled, claim you don’t want spoilers, but soon as the trailer drops y’all will be looking for spoilers relax

They’re already looking for spoilers from the “leaks” and rumour mill.

You ever stop to think that maybe Multiverse of Madness might have something to do with them not revealing/releasing Thor 4 material? 🥸😪

I’ve always HATED trailers. All I need is title, release date and maybe a couple paragraphs synapsis and I’m good.
Too many trailers contain too many spoilers which the community keeps whining about to begin with.
No trailer? No problem. Move on.
