The stone would be more a case of ACTUAL theft, rather than the “cultural theft” of Moana, Pocahontas, Mulan and Elena of Avalor.

    1. Kelly

I agree but it seems that Disney has gotten a little too big for their britches and thinks they can do whatever they want. I will never go to a Disney park again. I hope everybody that has children or grandchildren will stay away as well since Disney seems to think it’s ok to teach children about sex.

      1. Re

Instead of providing a fun place for families they take the magic out and insert hate. Never going there or buying their products

      2. Dan

Same here, what weirdo is so obsessed about talking about sex and “gender identity” to 6 year olds

        1. Tamara

If you are perfectly fine with every kids’ movie being centered around heterosexual relationships but you want to block free speech in schools if it involves same-sex relationships, your issue is not that “no one under the age of 18 should know that romantic relationships exist.” Your issue is that you’re a bigot.

          1. Jon

Tell me you didn’t read the bill, wait you don’t have to. You didn’t. The bill specifically states NO sexuality shall be TAUGHT as a lesson plan to kids under third grade. You are so twisted if you can’t keep your mouth shut about sexuality to kids that young.

          2. Joru

But heterosexuality will still be taught regardless without consequence… So…

        2. Kathy Smelser

Disney is not teaching SEX to KIDS ,,,What is Wrong with you

      3. Bill

Bigots aren’t welcome so you won’t be missed.

      4. A.c

Ohhhh get over yourself, the less rednecks in the park the better

    2. Rick

The whole thing is ridiculous. It’s just a rock. Cultural appropriation….lol
Try living in Ukraine these days. That’s a problem. This silly woke nonsense.

  2. Ray Latido

If the stone is stolen, not purchased, then it’s a theft. Disney use to be criticized for not making stories depicting non-white cultures. Now they’re criticized for making movies depicting non-white cultures.

    1. Mary

I know, right? It saddens me to think that some people choose to be offended when Disney or anyone else tries to respectfully tell a story or educate us about another culture…are other cultures trying to copyright themselves or what? I find that idea to be offensive, but gee, I guess I’m not allowed to be offended by that or I must be a racist. Sounds like a Catch 22 to me!

      1. Beer

Nothing remotely like that is in this story, and I’ve never heard anyone say anything like it, either.

Sounds like you two have no problems so you’re making one up. Having fun being angry for no reason? It’s so in fashion I guess

        1. VLM

Look in the comments above this and you will see EXACTLY that being stated, sweetie. Yes, it’s done, and done regularly. Sometimes it’s even a valid criticism–Picahontas, for instance.

        2. Luma

          👍👍👍👍

      2. R

I think the movies are fine when they use actors, writers and crew from that race or ethnicity. But all the merchandising is a bit ick. Sort of like people doing Dia de Los Muertos for Halloween.

      3. Patrick Hackett

I wouldn’t give anything that has anything to do with Disney World or any of their other business holdings.. we all know what they’re trying to promote and what that is is indoctrinating kindergarteners through third grade children on sexual education. Most of it perverted. This is how to indoctrinate young children the pedophilics have been using this for years. I want nothing to do with Disney or anybody that does. And those that do you make your bed now you’ve got to sleep in it.

        1. Kelly

I will never step foot in another Disney park, store or anyplace else under the Disney umbrella. No Disney movies, channel or books in my house. If Disney wants to teach young children about sex they can do it without my money. Disney needs to realize where their money comes from and understand parents don’t want somebody teaching their young children about sex. They have to grow up fast enough, let them be innocent children while they can!

          1. PJ

LOL you people always lie and say this stuff and keep watching Disney. You are never giving up all ABC Network programming, ESPN, Star Wars, the Muppets, Pixar movies, the History Channel, FX Network, 21st Century Fox movies, Spiderman, National Geographic, the Simpsons, Lifetime Network and Hulu. All of these are owned by Disney.

          2. Bill

Bet this jabroni is watching Hulu right now. I love to laugh at the ignorant, virtue signaling trumpers

3. Will

So for those who say they won’t support Disney then you must not watch sports. Disney owns ESPN and I’m sure other entities. Stay away from that stuff too and any offshoot by the parent company. Sorry to say but unless the majority boycotts an. Individual boycott is pointless. Even if founded on strong and righteous principles

    2. CoB

They have provenance for the stone, it came from the Parkers” Ahwahnechee-Miwok Elders.

Perhaps Fedora is insinuating that these Miwuk elders stole the stone?

    3. Agree completely

    4. DAMON

An entire religion was started by a fight over a rock

    5. Peter

They want 50% more gay/queer/trans playing the lead in movies. That’s straight out of hell.

      1. Ryan

Why are you so straighophbic? Go live your lifestyle and stop harassing the rest of us.

        1. Joru

“live your lifestyle”. Isn’t yours to bash the lgbt? So don’t tell someone to make it their personality if yours is equally as troublesome

      2. jaysjules

what I find sad that it’s no longer whose best or more qualified first when it comes to everything nowadays its a pretty sad world when people are getting jobs or losing jobs based on who they sleep with since when did theu add that to job resumes

    6. PJ

I found the original story this was plagiarized from. Disney boasts the stone came from a National Park when it is illegal to take stuff from National Parks. Disney likely lied and it is just a rock.

  3. Kimmy

Humans are excrement and Disney cannot win. Woke is just not that easy.haha

    1. Frazier

Disney friends are now consuming them.

  4. Bob Wiley

Lol this “drama” that keeps popping up. You think being a keyboard warrior really makes a difference for a multi billion dollar company like Disney? Please. Cool story though

    1. Your mom

ew why are you such a simp for disney

      1. Joru

Why are you even on a Disney news reporting site?

  5. Lol the irony of using ” incredibly-well” to describe something well written. Try learning grammar and spelling before posting things on the internet.

ITM continues to be the trashiest of all Disney blogs.

    1. Lizski

This is what I took from the article as well.

      1. Bee

        Me too!

      2. Dona

Disney has lost a lot of respect. Go back to being the magic Kingdom and keep your nose out of politics. You don’t seem to understand normal blue collar people anymore. You know, your customer base. I’m done with you. Bush Gardens is beautiful this time of year.

        1. Ryan

A great thing to include in an article about possible cultural appropriation or theft is any sort of explication about the details of what was done that could maybe be appropriation or theft.
This feels like 2nd grade book report quality of writing, and not one that would get above a C grade.

  6. Micky

did Ranger Andrea Lankford really have sex with a Bigfoot?

    1. Randy

It’s not his foot she was interested in…

  7. Thomas

People from different cultures always demand ‘representation’ and then when they are represented, celebrated and shown love they get offended and call it ‘Cultural Appropriation’, seriously, bore off! Disney are getting a lot of stick at the moment, and it’s pathetic. I’m a Disney fan, I will always be a Disney fan and won’t boycott, even if they do something that offends me, because I want to be challenged, I want to see things from another person’s perspective to make me consider my own outlook of the world.

    1. Bee

Nobody complained about that tho you just wandered in and started b****ing wow

      1. Pollen

Apparently you haven’t been paying attention to anything but what you care to see. People whined that there were too many “white movies”. So Dis ey made more movies about other cultures. Find me one movie Disney made where there is no backlash about either someone being “supposably” being gay but got changed back, or a group claiming the movie is “cultural appropriation”.

  8. Jefferey

The real question is Disney just started streaming in Saudi Arabi where being homosexual is illegal punishable by death… Seems a little more extreme then not wanting your kindergartener groomed by his teachers.

    1. Paddy

I think we need a Disney movie about this. Prince.. er… um.., princess running from the Saudi government with their trusty Cobra sidekick. Transgender and minority representation in one film. The woke crowd will love it.

  9. Rod

Disney is a breeding ground for groomers and pedos. Everyone has had it with minorities and their incessant belly aching.

    1. Bee

Whites aren’t the only people, pig

      1. Jm

        Bee… you’re a pathetic twat!

        1. KK

Give your mommy back her phone, crybaby.

    2. Joem

Rod, are you more of a racist or a bigot? Or 100% both?

      1. Jcc123

Rod is more of a GQP Biggot I suspect.

        1. Peter

They want 50% more gay/queer/trans playing the lead in movies. That’s straight out of hell.

      2. Who, me?

        Racist or bigot.
Never have I seen such as what I see coming from those that yes, b***h and moan constantly.
No amount of money, or catering to those that push racism and the Gay lifestyle will ever appease that which cannot. Destroy the nuclear family, erode the role of parents and teach kids to hate themselves because of their color, gender or sexuality.
        Your gay? Cool!
        Your Black, White, Hispanic……Cool!
But forcing an all or nothing agenda on those that do not relate culturally or morally is anything but.

    3. Joru

I love how you believe this as if your not an older person commenting about disney and worrying about random children and their sexuality. You seem pretty creepy mate

  10. CheeseInFL

It’s the “Don’t groom in the classroom bill” if you need a catchy title that is far more accurate. No where in the bill is the weird gay even mentioned.

    1. CheeseInFL

      **word

      1. Joem

Neither is the concept of grooming included in that bigoted law. You can ask Matt Gaetz about grooming. He likes paying for sex with the underage girls.

  11. Joe

Lol people need the limelight somehow. One way is to question Disney. “Something feels very wrong here..” went to cultural appropriation and now to theft.

Did you stop to think Disney has a large group of people who can create anything? What is likely the case of Disney matched the same sacred stone.

Lol people up in arms about nonsense all the time that has nothing to do with their lives.

  12. DT

In the words of Moana’s father, “This is just a rock!”
Cultural theft and appropriation have nothing to do with this. And I would love to see the proof that this rock “belongs” to anyone. It’s a ROCK. It’s literally part of the earth. What a tremendous waste of time and money to fight about a rock.

  13. IPreferUniversal

Don’t you just love it when the woke eat the the woke?
    Woke: Disney isn’t inclusive enough!
Disney: we’ll make a bunch of characters of all kinds for you and dedicate a spa!
Woke: how dare you culturally appropriate!
You can’t make this stuff up these days. LOL

    1. R Smith

Next thing will be Disney cutting up the Ayers Rock in Australia, bringing it to Florida and making a spa for the Aborigines that may have moved there. I’m all in.

  14. Mel

So sick of the ‘woke’ garbage. Do the ITM writers have nothing better to do than push Disney’s agenda? No where in the FL bill is the word ‘gay’ mentioned. It’s about protecting children – something Disney used to be for as well.

  15. Jm

Cultural appropriation? Such BS… shut up already with that crap!

  16. James

    Nobody “owns” a culture…stupid

  17. Jim Ash

It’s Disney World. Wouldn’t that rock be like, paper mache ?
    I call oversensitive BS.

  18. Karrie

Out of all the Disney creators they employ, why didn’t they just make their own Tanaya stone?

  19. Michael Bulich

Walt purchased that stone personally. Cost him a sack of shiny beads and two bottles of whiskey.

    1. DLand

      🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Good one 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  20. I’m not listening. I do not care. Should we cry about the colors of the balloons in side if the parks next ? Leave Disney the freak alone and go get a life.

  21. Delmar Shortt

I really wish you would stay out of politics. “Disney also recently faced backlash after a cheer group performed an incredibly racist and offensive show at Walt Disney World.” Your opinion does not make their performance offensive. I come here to read actual Disney news not your slant. Stick to the facts.

  22. Kyle L Stauffer

I’ve looked at the bill in Florida , it doesn’t mention gay…are you trustworthy as a journalist if you are prone to including false information in your article?

    1. Lina

CORRECT. Nowhere in the bill does it say don’t say gay🙄🤦‍♀️ Propaganda and nothing less. What it does address is teaching kindergarten through 3rd grade students about sexuality: homosexuality, heterosexuality, gender identity, gender fluidity, etc. It specifically states teachers may not instruct these young students on said topics, but may still discuss them. Which I still find whackadoodle!!!!!🤪😜
I’m a fiscal conservative, social liberal, registered Independent, homes in 3 states- 2 blue, 1 red, & a Dis shareholder. My adult son tells me I’m a Libertarian🤷🏼‍♀️ Who knows. What I DO know I am about this country: Worried. Depressed even. Again- this ‘Don’t say gay’ junk is no more & no less than pure propaganda🙄🙄

Hey!!! I’ve got a crazy idea!!! Let’s let 5-8yr olds be KIDS!!!

Bob Chapek is destroying WDW from the inside out.

      1. Linda

        Amen to that Lena!!

  23. Daniel

    What utter carp.

    1. Michael Lockhart

      Mmm…carp.

  24. Dawn

Reading through the comments all I can think is:

Tell me you didn’t read the article without saying you didn’t read the article. Geeze…..

  25. Geno Pontecorvo

Wokeness demands panic over nonissues like cultural appropriation, bills that offend, anything pro nuclear family, when anyone says there are only 2 genders the rest is pretending.

  26. IPreferUniversal

Exactly how I feel!! I originally got into this site for the same reason you did and it didn’t take long before it seemed like 90% of the articles I see are this kind of garbage. It’s hard to find any site these days that doesn’t cram this kind of crap in it.

  27. Twilightdusk

Soo…what exactly is at issue here? I’ve read the article three times and I don’t understand the actual issue, just that a new Disney spa is being accused of something. My best guess is that there’s a rock in the spa that was illegally taken from a native American tribe’s land? You could really do a much better job of outlining the actual claim here.

    1. PJ

Disney says the rock came from a National Park and you can’t take rocks from a National Park. You have to read the original article plagiarized by this article.

  28. Micah Raleigh

“Cultural appropriation” is just smoke from the PC police. It should be fully legal

  29. BN

I am no fan of Disney but this idea that anything that any group ever valued is sacred and belongs to them forever is ridiculous. Few indigenous people of any culture have always lived where they are. Most pushed a weaker group off that spot, thus appropriating whatever was sacred to the previous occupants.

  30. PJ

What a poorly written and unedited article that merely regurgitates another person wrote. The writibg is so circuitous and obfuscatory that it’s hard to tell what the issue even is. And theauthor also tries to tie this to Disney’s opposition to Florida’s nefarious Don’t Say Gay law, when the overwhelming number of Disney visitors also oppose the law

  31. Jon Barry

This article is absolute trash. Probably the worst written thing I’ll see all weekend. It makes me sad that things have gotten to this.

    1. PJ

It’s poorly plagiarized from other articles

  32. Darma

I’ll never go to Disney again.
I’m not woke or anti woke. I’m just broke. Disney if too expensive nowadays.

  33. PJ

What the article fails to mention is that the so-called felony has nothing to do with cultural appropriation. If you read the original articles that this article plagiarized, you learn that Disney publicizes this rock as coming from a National Park when it is illegal to take things like this from a National Park. What is more likely is that Disney made the whole thing up, the rock is just a rock, no felony was committed and Disney has egg on it’s face. Enough of the BS felony talk and enough pretending that Disney’s stance on Florida’s nefarious Don’t Say Gay law is not supported by Disney fans.PK

  34. Jj

    Wtf is this crap. Desperation

  35. Rob

Theft is one thing, however, “cultural appropriation is a phoney concept. If I find I like a certain style of dress or imagery, I will adopt it, and to heck with what anyone thinks

  36. GNL

I think this country has bigger problems including a corrupt government.

  37. Karen Markiewicz

As a California American Indian, whose 3xgeat-grandfather signed a treaty with the federal government in 1851 at Camp Barbour in an effort to save his people, I am offended by ALL the latest Disney antics. Someone should have educated the cheerleaders that white men started scalping as a bounty on Indian people, and that included payments for women, children and infants. And I seriously doubt that the great Disney machine worked with any tribe before acquiring their rock.

  38. CD

So they think that Disney stole this? How would it be theft if they legally purchased it from a retailer? The seller may have stolen it, but I highly suspect Disney isn’t stupid enough to get caught up in that. Sorry… but y’all are reaching on this one

  39. Nyan

Let’s be honest here, what exactly is the term “felony” in the context of busisneses? Nothing. It isn’t possible to pinpoint this entire sitstion to a single person, unless the law enforcement takes every single Disney employee to jail, which isn’t possible. Would Disney care about “possible felony”? I doubt it. At worst, Disney would just be sued as every other busisneses, and Disney just had to come up with ways for a settlement with whichever tribe it stole from. With billions in profits each year, I am sure Disney management can do this easily, even bribing the tribe.

  40. Tc Maxwell

Everyone needs to read up on that bill- there is NOT A WORD In it that comes close to what you are reporting it to say. “Don’t say gay” was coined by the media. It is about teaching sex education to kids K-3, which is absurd in most parents’ eyes. Nothing more. Get your facts straight before you spread rumors.

  41. Scott

There is no such thing as “cultural appropriation”. It’sanother made-up term, like “gender fluid”.

  42. Scott

This had to have been one of the most poorly written articles I have ever had the misfortune of reading. What was the point of this article? Vague rumor and conjecture? There was zero substance or conclusion.

  43. Ted Larson

Would like to see a picture of the rock and know its history.

  44. Dean Cardella

Grew up with Disneyland. Met Mr. Disney when I was a boy. Today I will have nothing to do with Disney. No movies, toys or coon skin caps. Not for families anymore.

  45. bob

just unincorporate RCID and stop the fear mongering.
