Keep the song and keep the ride exactly the way it is. #SaveSplashMountain

I agree stop changing everything that is great

      1. Jose

They won’t be happy until they take the “D” out of Walt Disney’s name. “Wokeism” is a mental illness.

        1. Manny

Try to understjad what Woke is before opening your mouth and looking foolish. Code switching from the previous generations words such as “uppity” does not change the ignorance or fear you are mongering. Jose really? Nice try.

    2. Donna Villeneuve

I agree keep it the same

      1. If the woke folks actually knew the movie they would realize that it celebrates black culture as Uncle Remus is telling the kids old folk tales. These idiots are actually erasing g black culture by getting rid of the ride.

        1. DisneyFan

          AMEN

    3. Carmine Crincoli

I definitely agree with you guys!

The song and movie were made in 1946 when things were very different. Accept it for what it is – entertainment. Disney needs to stop making everything so political and just get back to Walt’s vision and entertain the families who go to WDW.

Keep Splash Mountain just the way it is – a fun, enjoyable ride with songs that lift your heart and your spirits.

    1. K.Norris

AMEN!! Stop this political crap! Put the movie in it’s proper place and move on!
You can find something offensive everywhere you turn. CHOOSE to see the positive and happy. No one is condoning or supporting behavior that was a split second in time. If you look for ugly and hate you will find it. If you need lessons in choosing to focus on being happy & choosing positive, think about Albabia or the sex trade of young women and girls. Get over history. It is in the past. Live loving your neighbor today!

      1. E. Angus

I agree. WDW wants to strip the American people of our past and condemn and be woke. I quit WD some time ago and I hope it becomes a ghost town after what they did to all the IT people.

  3. Doug

Me and my sister used to swing on the swings and sing this song. To us it was a celebration of life.

    1. Jack

      Clearly a bigot! : – D

      1. Sherry

WHAT? Me and my sister did the same thing, loved it.
And, Song of the South is not racist.

  4. Jack

Wokesters are cancer to anything thing or place they infest.

  5. S

Why is it a small group of people get to push their interpretation of the Song of the South as racist? People shouldn’t assume Remus was a slave and that he accepted It and didn’t strive to change. It was a story about the relationship between a black man and a young white boy. One that they both enjoyed. It was a good and positive movie. Stop caving to the negative woke crowd demands. It’s only purpose is to cause further division.

    1. Mary Shearer

      You are soooooo right!!!!

  6. lynn

Disney May Stop Using the Terms “Prince” and “Princess”!!! Can’t imagine, can you?

    1. Rox

That is carrying inclusive way over the top.

  7. Carolyn Hamolko

I keep running the song Zip a dee doo day through my head and I’m not finding anything bad. It’s a joyous happy tune. This was my childhood and I dislike everyone destroying it. This world is awful cant things be left alone

  8. DonB

Disney needs to get out of politics and follow the advice of many who replied to this. Disney has a legacy of entertainment and that should be the focus.
With this current way of thinking why not just tear down Frontierland too as that period certainly wasn’t the golden age of American history.

    1. Robert Novak

Frankly, I’m surprised they haven’t cancelled Walt Disney himself and begun the process of removing his name off of everything with their thinking. After all, he was the one who was behind the movie in the first place!

  9. FiestaFunKid

An Oscar winning song, performed by an African American (perhaps the first?), with a timeless message of positivity – which inspires those increasingly scarce ‘Disney feels’ to multi-generations. It would be truly shameful and w/o cause for Disney to bury such a classic.

  10. Thomas

It’s one of the most innocent songs in history, it’s less dark than most nursery rhymes out there. The retheme is happening, but to remove one of Disney’s core songs. I do think Disney need to release ‘Song of the South’ even for just a limited period to people can actually watch it and make their own decisions rather than live in the fear of what they’ve been told by others who probably haven’t seen it. I saw it as a kid and other than the animated Br’er sections I found the movie extremely boring to the point I’d fast-forward to the cartoon bits.

  11. Dave

Rides and attractions based on films will re-theme, as the older films drop out of the minds of today’s Disney Fans. They need to freshen up sometimes, If this does, it does. But lets first fix the current rides so they stay running, and not break down constantly. Every day on out last visit at least 2 E ticket rides were done at each park at all times.

  12. Keep the song. Disney is ruining itself day by day

  13. RC

Uncle Remus is the hero of the movie! He’s wise and loves and protects all the children, black, white, rich and poor! (however, he’s not all that crazy about bullies) I guess the bullies we face with this movement today are upset about a black man setting a good example for all to follow.

  14. Mark

Princess and the Frog really sucked, so let’s make a ride about that. Maybe it won’t suck still? Let’s build a Star Wars land around “our Star Wars” vision and movies that sucked. Maybe we can convince them they were good. Nope! Disney sucks now and when you give them your money you give them power. Take that money away and stockholders will call for an end to all current mgt. and tell the woke folks to go back to their miserable lives.

  15. Mark

Oh another thing. Disney wants to be part of the cancel culture? Well, morons, guess what we can cancel you too if you wanna play games. We’re on ITM because we’re real fans of what the entertainment and quality used to be when relating to Disney. We can go elsewhere on vacation. We can choose not to buy all the way overpriced Chinese communist garbage that you sell in your parks and online. Folks, just quit Disney. I know you love what it used to be, but it is not that anymore. If I could spend every penny I have to bring Walt back from the dead I would. This is NOT his WDW. It’s corporate greed and political activism company and we’re shutting this Sh&# down come November in the next election. Get out and vote for common sense. Fire the left because with them you’ll have nothing left!

    1. Wendy

      Agreed.

  16. It’s just not Disney when they take away the older rides and themes such as Splash Mountain and Mr.Toads Wild Ride and then add all these Star Wars rides which to me are just not Disney. It’s just a matter of time before they do away with Mickey, Donald, and Goofy…….or retheme them

  17. Robert Prince

Would you please reissue Song of the South so all can see the wonderful story of a man who loves every one regardless of the color of their skin. why are people afraid of history its there and its ours good or bad you need to learn from it because if you don’t you could allow it to happen again you need to judge a person by their actions not by the color

    1. Mark

This would be a smart move to re-issue it on their part. It would end the controversy. Unfortunately, “smart” is not what Disney does anymore.

  18. Cynthia

I can’t comment on the movie as I haven’t watched and dissected it in years. However, I love the song and can’t find anything racist to it. It’s a happy upbeat song that speaks of my childhood. At age 65, I have been to Disney World many times since it opened in the 70s. I actually loved it immensely up until several years ago when WDW encouraged over crowding and supports wait times of 2 hours for a ride. When you break down the cost of the entry to the parks and the amount of things you get to experience, it is no longer my favorite place to visit. Which really does make me sad.

  19. DisneyFan

Both should be left alone. Isn’t it funny how neither the ride nor song were a problem for the last 30+ years, but now it’s a problem? Cancel culture just has to find something or someone to complain about. Disney needs to keep politics out of the parks and look at all the polls, petitions, the LINES for this attraction day in and day out. People LOVE this ride, why should it change to appease the loud 1% who create issues where there are none??

    1. Chris Kinney

      It’s more like the . 0001%

  20. Sarah

Leave splash mountain just the way it is. Disney has plenty of land to build a Princess and the Frog themed ride somewhere else. Stop destroying the childhood of so many Disney go-ers. Myself included

  21. Disnerd

I remember when this used to be America sings and people were upset when they were building splash mountain and splash mountain was fantastic and awesome when it came out like in 1989 👴🏻if you’ve ridden it lately it does seem a bit dated and the animatronics are old why do people want to keep these old classic elements I mean I understand it to a degree but everything Disney has done to improve attractions has been fantastic look at the snow White ride it’s gorgeous I honestly wish they would tear apart haunted house and make the effects more like Indiana Jones the classic Disney of your youth is so antiquated onward to the future! This is not about being woke this is about innovation get a life … by the way dont all the mad at Disneyland Karen and Ken white people have to be at Starbucks or something?

    1. You sure do love calling people names like Karen and Ken. Let’s take people’s names and make em’ derogatory. And why dump on people for having an opinion about Disney constantly changing stuff? Really? And it doesn’t have to be woke case this has nothing to do with being woke unless you’re ignorant.

  22. Alice Dovewing

You do love your “buzzwords” don’t you? Please stop using “woke” as a weapon. Song of the South is a horrible reminder of the racism Disney perpetuated with some of the earlier movies. I’ve been a Disney fan since I was a child and I’ve always felt guilty about it because of the racist and misogynistic history (Fantasia, Song of the South, Peter Pan, black face/minstrel Mickey cartoons….) There are attractions in the Parks that my family and I have Never experienced. Can all of you look beyond your privilege and please let Disney fix some mistakes so some of us can feel like we’re seen as real people instead of stereotypical caricatures? Thank you,
Indigenous and Black American, Alice Dovewing

    1. I AGREE!!!!!! #SAVESPLASHMOUNTAIN

  23. Rick

I hate the way this article makes this sound like this is what people want. No one was expecting the refurb to take place. Disney made it very clear months before that Splash Mountain was being fixed and would remain the same after the shut down. Why don’t they talk about the fact that fans are opposed to this change? The petition to keep it has five times as many signatures as the one that caused this. The refurb has been removed from the company budget two years in a row. Nothing has been done on it except a few conceptual sketches. And they should also mention that there is as much backlash from within the company to try and stop it as well.

  24. Beverly

I think people are so shallow these days if they let a song like Zip-a-dee-doo-dah ruin their Disney experience. Leave that racist woke 💩 at the entry gate and just try to have a good time. Was Disney losing money because of the 4 people who may have been offended? Or are they losing more money now because of the tens of thousands selling stock and boycotting because the Disney CEO went WOKE? This is ridiculous and politics does not belong in Disney! Poor Walt…turning over in his grave.

  25. John Wayne

If these idiots that are “woke” would wake up they might stop trying to change our history! It’s history you “woke” morons and you can’t change history! You don’t like this history? Try another country and get the he’ll out of this one! What’s next? Tear down the statue of Walt and Mickey? Take your “woke” and shove it where the sun don’t shine!

  26. I would dump my Disney stock with the way management is changing Disney but l cannot afford the lost !!

  27. SAVE SPLASH MOUNTAIN! It makes me so sad that their changing it.Oh, and how is a princess and the frog going to fit into frontierland??? the ride sits right by big thunder mountain road!!! its sucha classic, man

  28. Sadly, I wish this was true. I went to Disney World for spring break and the gift shop, briar patch, has already officially closed down. it made me heartbroken. the animatronics have been left to just rot and not work well. and people have been getting injured in the logs more recently than ever because they wont keep up with the ride. another thing is, we asked the workers if it was true, and they said yes. so sad. 🙁 makes me cry every time.

  29. Ryan

I think this whole thing is ridiculous! Keep the song, keep the ride. It’s popular and everyone loves it. It’s clear by how popular it was and how long the line always is. This whole thing was clearly a stupid PR move by Disney during the height of the BLM riots, nothing more. If they truly felt it was problematic, they would retheme every Splash Mountain attraction, not just the two in the US. If Disney truly thinks they are racist attractions, why leave the overseas versions intact? Are they not racist if they’re not in the US? Crazy. Disney is happy to collect revenues off Splash Mountain merchandise overseas, but makes it clear that it’s wrong here in the US only. It’s hypocritical nonsense. I really hope Disney’s woke direction they’ve decided to take lately, really hits them where it hurts – their wallet.

Keep it the same, enough is enough! It’s not personal interpretation, it’s Walt Disney and what his expression was. If people don’t like it, don’t go!
