I love Disney World. I was there in 1971 when they first opened the park. When I grew up and had my children we were always there. Ron DeSantis is wrong with his demands about everything Florida holds dear. Go Disney. As innovative and creative as your company is don’t cave to DeSantis. We love you.

    1. SJ

Read the legislation. It doesn’t say anything about any sexual orientation.

      1. Christopher Finley

Please read the bill. It specifically states sexual orientation two times in the bill.

        Lines 21-23:
“prohibiting classroom discussion about sexual orientation or gender identity in certain grade levels or in a specified manner”

        Lines 97-98:
“Classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation or gender identity may not occur”

        1. Walt

Is being heterosexual a sexual orientation? Why what do you kow yes it is. This is the PARENTAL RIGHTS bill not the don’t say gay. PLease exaplin to me why you are FOR teaching kids about these issues between the ages of K-3.

          1. Jayson

Why are you lying? If it were parental rights and not about orientation than gay parents would have the same rights as non gay. Sorry your uncomfortable with reality. Kids are going to see gay parents and be confused, and the kids are going to talk about it anyway. You want to lie to your kids, go ahead. Making discrimination legal has gone real well in history, bud.

          2. Tim

You people are distorting this bill and LYING about what it does. It is the PARENT’S job to teach their children about sexuality- NOT activist LGBTQ teachers who want to convince 4-8 year olds to become transsexuals. They are too young to understand sexual identity. If the kids have questions about Johnny’s two moms, the teachers should have them ask their own parents. NO rainbow pride flags in classrooms! NO indoctrination.

          3. Tom

Gay people aren’t “Parents” by definition. Homosexuality is a mental illness, and they should be kept away from children.

          4. Ks

The issue isn’t “teaching” There. It’s the fact that teachers can be sued by parents for discussing anything with sexual orientation so, if as all child has two mom’s and they ask what you did over this weekend and they mention their two mom’s, kids are naturally but the teacher can get sued.

        2. Zack

Yes. That’s grooming. Why do kids aged 2-6 need to learn about that? I can see a high school elective class etc.. but you g CHILDREN? Cmon man..

          1. Cheryl Ann Chiodo

You do understand that any discussion of boys or girls is gender identity as well as Mr & Mrs. Basically the bill makes all students non-binary as well as teachers! Burn all the books that being up boys and girls as different genders! Hasty legislation makes poor legislation!

          2. Ramona

this is pure insanity. no one grooms sexual orientation. that is a huge myth based on NO evidence at all. cite some references if you can. bet you won’t even read this tho’

        3. bluecollarcritic

What is does not say is “Don’t say gay”.

        4. Kevin

That would preclude the mention of LGBTQ+ people’s existence.

Nobody wants to talk about sex with kids, but to explain that that two women can marry would be Forbidden.

          1. Ron

And straight people can’t talk about their spouses either so…

      2. Matt

What the bill says don’t matter punishing a company for disagreeing is what Stalin and Mao done. Not what Democracies do. That is the problem with self righteous politicians.

        1. Bill

Move then and good riddance liberals can take your selves out of Florida. We won’t miss you and take the idiots that still follow you with you. Bye Felisha.

          1. Anthony Edwards

I agree with you, the Liberal Disney should move and take the following with them: In a 2019 study found Disney dominates the Central Florida tourism industry, according to Oxford Economics, and produced: $75.2 billion annual economic impact for Central Florida. 463,000 jobs. $5.8 billion in additional state tax revenue. The sales tax collected just on the 58 million Disney World tickets sold in 2018 was $409 million.

      3. Karen varstensen

        Move out of Florida!!

        1. Anthony

Yes, please move out. FL doesn’t deserve any more money-making companies. Take the thousand of Jobs and kill the central Florida district, and property values and send the State bankrupt.

      4. Gspirit

Yes gay people don’t exist and people of color weren’t slaves! Let’s keep our kids in the dark. So that they grow up thinking white and straight is all there is…Oh wait that is what Florida is about…NEVERMIND!

      5. Jason Goldman

There’s no legislation mentioning the stupidity of hateful, ignorant Republicans either….but here we are looking at a fact nonetheless….I’ve been to Florida on vacation many times. I’ve been to Disney World many times. I won’t be visiting again until Disney leaves that refuge of hate and willful ignorance.

      6. Margaret Sharp

Please read, or is that ungainsst the law in Florida too.

    2. James

The Disney company would be wise to move out of Florida, rising sea levels and De Satan has shown the door. It’s time to build a New Disney World somewhere else. Florida is very humid and more hurricane s. Disney needs to thank Florida for its hospitality and leave.Disney can make Magic any where.

      1. Brafy

De Satan? You do realise that the DNC is the party that is anti-God, right? Are you on the right side of things, or just confusrd?

        1. Chuck U. Farley

You DO realize that Bronze Age supernatural woo is pure nonsense, right?

          1. Roger

And how do you exactly know this to be true. Can you prove there is no God. You have no faith. You are a weak minded follower who would rather believe that the universe, the galaxies our Solar System, this planet and every form of life on it simply happened. Someone created everything. It just did not simply appear. Many say it is just that Humans evolved through natural selection losing all the traits we didn’t need to become a smarter, more sophisticated and more adapted. If that is true, If it is all myth as you seem to think, why didn’t we lose our desire to seek a being higher than ourselves. Deep down in our being, we have a natural connection with our creator. You might say you don’t believe in God, but in order not to believe in Him, you have to believe in Him.

          2. Reality

How do you know Odin isn’t real? Zues? Ceres? The thousands of gods that are worshipped today?

The onus will ALWAYS be on the people making extraordinary claims.

Almost every tradition within Christianity has been stolen from Pagan traditions, so we can definitely make a very good assumption, that religion and its form of god is not based within reality.

Now, how about those Pagan religions? Did they steal things they liked from religions that existed before them? The answer is.. yes.

Instead of people of different religions claiming their God to be the correct one… the best answer is and always will be… I don’t know…. I’m going to assume you are Christian…. congratulations on being born into a place where Christianity is popular. If you had been born in India, you would be on here claiming that Vishnu is the one true God….. at one time throughout history, every God/Gods were the “Truth”.

Have a wonderful day filled with objective thoughts and open mindedness. – Reality

          3. Sky Wolf

Not sure it’s relevant but entertaining nonetheless.

        2. Kevin

          That’s not true.
          Liberal values were Jesus’ values.

Love one another. Don’t make war. Care for the poor and the sick.

        3. Kitty

Have you met many GQP Republicans? They are not conservative and do not follow the word of Christ. Bunch of hateful bigots.

        4. Jason

They should move out of Florida. Sometimes States try to over reach and gain control. Leaving the State veing one of their largest revenues would then be black in Disney’s pocket

        5. F. Alexander

What so-called people who are not as you say, “anti-God” is that if there is a God then God is ALL there IS. This precludes any other presence besides, but so-called believers refuse to render unto God what rightfully belongs to God and God alone. There can be but one ALL, one ONE, hence, one God, and this is ALL there IS, meaning that in a personal context “you” don’t exist. If ALL or God could only be ALL after “you” approved it so then there’d be no ALL at all, hence, no God. This means anti-God people are anti-your limited concept of God. That’s all it means! Your so-called personal view of God is limiting if not utterly blasphemy. There is no God in man and no man in God. God is ALL, the ALONE ONE, the SOLE SELF. There is simply nothing besides this ONE!

      2. yoyo

Do you realize the billions of dollars it would take to try and move Disney World. You are just plain silly.

        1. bluecollarcritic

The woke usually don’t understand economics. Their ignorance f it is important for their indoctrination to the cult. Same with history. In order to get them to repeat the mistakes of the past they have to be ignorant of history.

        2. Kevin

Do you realize that other states would offer them all sorts of incentives.

          Disney family members are LGBTQ+

This is not a dollars and cents issue it’s person human rights issue.

          1. Bruton

Disney operates two parks in a country that’s actively committing genocide/ethnic cleansing. You can’t honestly believe they give a d@mn about human rights.

          2. Tony Soprano

Homie they would move it just to save their Image here. You think anyone cares about china at all?

          3. Ron

Yet Disney cruises port in Jamaica where homosexuality is illegal. You really think they care and it’s about a “human rights issue” when they are selective?

          4. Alan

Maybe some of them but the majority are NOT, no different than the rest of America. What the Gov did makes sense to most people, the law has been supported by nearly everyone that has actually read it. Gender discussions should be had by parents, not teachers, regardless of age but certainly when in grades K-3

        3. Ray

Disney’s net worth is about $97 billion

          1. Anthony

my net worth is $97k! what’s your point?

        4. Sky Wolf

Other states would love to take in Disney and certainly could help make it happen. The fact that Disney controls the environment in and around the area is what makes Disney what it is. Something the County can’t replace. It looks like Disney is being forced out because they expressed thier opinion. Disney would lose its charm and reasons why people come. They need to control the environment or it’s game over and they will have no choice but leave.

        5. Tarot

IT’s actually not that silly. Disney owes billions in bond debt, they could literally wait for it all to be absorbed by the state, then close their doors and walk away leaving DeSantis and the residents of those counties holding the bag. You all might want to do some research before saying what is not possible.

        6. John Ackerby

The expense to move Disney out of Florida is why the GOP has decided to punish Disney for disagreeing with the GOP.

      3. She

Disney hasn’t made magic in years now. The day of family fun is long gone.

        1. Miguel

As to say about all this, Disney may plan to expand the park in California and yet everything is going to California.

      4. AH

The sea levels stopped rising when Barack Obama was elected.

      5. Julia

If Disney moves out of Florida, it’s finished as a magic place.

    3. Victor Nazarian

There is no creative process and no long term benefit involved with a mega corporation getting involved in our democratic government processes. Disney’s CEO should apologize to all voters in Florida, ask for a pause in actions & words, focus on creative business and stay the heck out of politics.

Even if the cause is just, it’s letting the devil into the room to let mega corporations get involved with our governance. Next you’ll have things like a ‘popular’ Ukraine-supporting weapons manufactures telling our government what airplanes to buy and what laws to pass.

Disney, and all other large organizations should NOT be part of our political process. It may be legal but it’s bad in every significant respect.

      1. Dawn

Do you really think that Corporations are not already involved in Politics? Large companies have bought Politicians and Laws for YEARS.

        1. bluecollarcritic

Yes but until recent its been about self-interest, increasing profits and while it’s an open secret (I doubt any American thinks the government is free of corporate influence) where Disney screwed up is moving from self-interest to ideological support. If they continue they are committing slow suicide. They already are angering many with ever increasing costs along with less focus on the Disney experience and more and more nickel & diming tactics. Taking this ideological support path is only going o drive away more of their core customer base and it will not be offset by an increase from pro-woke supporters of the LGBQT community. Only %3-%4 of the population is gay. As for the woke, most are pro collectivist style governance and don’t have the monetary resources to pay for your typical Disney trip.

      2. CB

Totally agree! And most who oppose the bill aren’t parents and haven’t even read it! NO WHERE does it say don’t say gay! PleSe stay out of politics Disney! Work on whT ylu used to be great at — Family Entertainment– like Walt wanted!

        1. Carey

It does not matter, at all, what the bill says or doesn’t say. Disney has a right to make political donations or not make political donations to whoever they deem fit. What Desantis should not have the right to do is cherry pick which companies get tax incentives based on whether they donate to his his campaign or support his polices. Disney is a huge asset for Florida and if he exposes the Florida tax payers to any risk of a Disney relocation to another State, he has done the people of Florida a huge disservice. It is time for politicians, especially Desantis, to refocus on public service. They are not Kings and should stop acting like it…like immediately.

      3. GGStuart

Let’s be real here millions of dollars donated to political parties by organizations means they are involved, time Disney moves to a place that wants them get out of Florida

        1. mark Weiss

Disneyland it is time to live florida . Go to San Diego F desents

      4. Marty

Amen!!! Stay out of the politics,Disney is about Family Entertainment, NOT politics. Guarantee WALT DISNEY, would NOT be chainging anything of his past movies characters, nor getting into poloitics with his Company, now privately as a citizen is different, but this Comoany is family oriented and gives laughter, love, fantasy, dreams. You name it, WHY CHANGE or ALTER ANYTHING?? leave it wholesome, politics just muddy up the water. And teaching k-3rd graders the BS of ANYTHING or ANYTIME about sexual orientation should be kept OUT of school. That’s the PARENT ‘S job to do at home!!! WTH are people thinking? Parents NEED to do their job and STOP EXPECTING someone else to do it for them. So much has changed today, which is INSANE of how far people take it, seems they want to have ALL attention on them.

      5. Kevin

Tell it the Koch brothers and the Mercers.

        1. Not the same Kevin as above

Tell it to Soros too. Oh wait, its ok for him since he’s a Dem, right?

      6. Reality

An individuals right to exist is not political.

      7. Ray

Then the GOP party shouldn’t have passed legislation that lets companies meddle in politics in the first place. They can’t take it back now.

      8. Manny

Please see Citizens United which effectively made solidified corporations as people. I would agree and be rid of the ability of groups to lobby law makers. One vote one person, one petition. I would personally like to see K Street and all their ilk canceled.

      9. KittyKitty

        Repeal Citizens United then.

      10. Tarot

If this is true and they should have no voice in politics, why did DeSantis accept money from them for his political campaign. Disney is already the largest tax payer in the State of Florida. You don’t think that should give them a voice?

    4. Sandy

I think Disney should bow out gracefully and go back to be the way they where and stay out of politics you have all types of people that go to your parks I don’t care what you are or believe in everyone is at Disney for one reason to escape every day life when there at Disney

      1. Sherry

        I totally agree with you

      2. John S.

Same here. It’s the people in charge of the company that are pulling the strings.

      3. Bruton

It’s their only way out of this self created dumpster fire. Fire Chapek, and the next CEO walks back everything he’s said for the last month.

      4. Kevin

It’s personal. One of the family members is LGBTQ

      5. Ross

        Hear, hear…

    5. mike

Really? “as NPR stated” ? Guess this site isn’t hiding their Disney bias anymore. Cutting off nose to spite your face? Move Disney somewhere else ? Hope your travel agency isn’t only situated in Fla. anymore ! Short list of entertainment venues who don’t have Disney “special sweet deals” ; Universal Studios, Busch Gardens, Sea World just to name a few ! 350 million U.S. people & it’s estimated that 1half of one percent are gay or lesbian or just plain confused! What about rest of us? If WDW moves please take them all w/ you & leave us in peace !

      1. Kevin

More than that but… aren’t they American citizens too?

And they’re very wealthy and influential segment of society.

But if they represent such a small portion of society why make go to such lengths to give them grief?

    6. Sky Wolf

Disney lawyers will most likely be able to reverse this. Even if they reverse it however, the damage to the great state of FL is done and can’t be reversed. No business will want make big investments there knowing it could be taken away just because they express disagreement with the Governor. It’s Government overreach at it’s finest. Notice the change won’t take effect for a year. After the elections and that’s when it will be to late. High taxes and a decreasing standard of living will be the result for those residents in that area and beyond. Good luck FL.

      1. Be Nice

@ Sky Wolf… Um Excuse me but I do believe there are multiple companies many with large theme parks in Florida hmmm even in Orlando that do business without these special provisions that Disney has.

    7. TQ

      I agree with you 1000000000%

    8. TQ

      Kathryn
      I agree 10000000000%

    9. Never gonna move. Economists say Disney would all their profits for the next 7-9:years. Tell their share holders that. Plus what you miss is the majority of Fl residents don’t care. Do you really believe Disney could afford to buy 35 thousand acres anywhere. In todays world no company can. Todays market price just property, no infrastructure, buildings, rides ECt. One billion five hundred million just for property. Good luck with he move. Disney’s current value is set at 1.3 bil. Make me a bet how soon they move. Lol

      1. John Ackerby

This is why DeSantis and the GOP decided to take action against Disney just because Disney disagreed with them. They know Disney can’t do anything about it. They know Disney can’t move. If it was feasible for Disney to move from Florida and leave Florida holding some kind of bag then DeSantis and the GOP wouldn’t be punishing Disney for disagreeing with the GOP.

    10. Laura C

It sounds like you support the idea of young children being groomed and sexually exploited.

  2. max

your insane. please stay away from my kids.

  3. TimW

Will the other states offer a special district with plenty of tax incentives and a fully loaded partner to bear most costs? LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL
They can’t offer less benefits. It has to be much better. What a joke they are. Even with the removal of the special district, WDW is largely built out. It won’t cost anything to remain there even if they fail to invest anymore money. Anyways, Universal is right there ready to eat Disney’s lunch without any special district helping them out.

    1. Greg

The same morons who say “move out of Florida” probably voted for Sleepy Joe too. Yup, just a few boxes to pack up in the bazillion acres occupied and built by Disney including a huge solar power direction they went. LMAO!

      1. Jonathan G Taylor

        Typical right wing idiot!

        1. Kale is evil

          Typical left wing moron

  4. Cie (They/Them)

They should close Disneyworld and expand the Disneyland area to more properties in California. They should go back to their original plan and build DisneySea and build 2-3 parks in the Inland Empire area and connect it all via Monorail.

    1. For the record. It’s fiscally impossible to move Disney. It would shoulder the company with so much debt the institutional shareholders would stop it in its tracks the first time the idea is tabled. Look at Disney’s stock price. It’s cratering for a reason. When you alienate the majority to placate a minority you can’t stay in business. Dems have zero concepts of corporate finance. The writer of this article must believe she has a tree in the back yard that grows dollar bills.

      1. FL Scot

You obviously haven’t been tuned into Twitter’s move to stop Musk. It’s called “poison pill.” You believe Desantis is untouchable. That arrogance is going to cost you…and Florida taxpayers plenty. The Mouse has been real quiet up to now. Wonder how he’s going to mess with the insane FL GOP?

        1. Bruton

There’s a huge difference between Musk, a private citizen, trying to buy Twitter and the situation Disney created in Florida. They are not remotely comparable.

          1. JJ

            Disney didn’t create this situation.

DeSantis acted like an immature, unqualified “leader” when he punished a corporate citizen who disagreed with him.

He is acting like a childish dictator in an environment in which many large corporations are far more enlightened than that goober.

    2. mike

Then the “big quake” will come & they & the rest of the nutjobs in Cali will get washed out to sea YAY !

      1. david

Cali is a city in Columbia. You obviously failed geography in primary school.

    3. Harry

Have you seen the area around Disneyland? They can’t expand any further without spending millions, if not billions to buys the properties around them and tear down the buildings. They can only replace older rides at this point.

  5. Tom Krausse

I don’t think Disney world is going anywhere. Gate 5 is likely to be a much longer shot, with Resort 3 being a much more likely possibility now. And the other states don’t need to be more friendly than Disney’s current arrangements, they need to be more friendly than desantis is offering. That shouldn’t be tough

  6. jimthedj

So let me get this… Disney can somehow just somehow relocate 4 major theme parks, a gigantic shopping district, 2 water parks, and more than 25 resort hotels… (like they can just pack in in a suitcase and move) because the Florida governor put a bill into place where they can’t teach sex (straight or gay) in K-3.

I don’t know what blows my mind more, the fact that these people stupid enough to think Disney can just pick up and go, or the need they think that they should teach 7 year olds about sex in public schools and it’s not the parents job to do it when they think it’s appropriate.

Kids don’t become interested in being attracted to someone until around 5th or 6th grade. Which this law does not discriminate against. In fact they can do it in 4th grade.

But for the record, I am gay and don’t have a problem with it. Most of my gay friends don’t either. Ironically it seems that most of the people against this are not gay. Why the rush to instruct kids in school about sex, straight or gay. Let the parents do it.

    1. Not a sheep

      Excellent comment. Stay safe.

    2. Michael

      well said JIm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    3. SJ

      100%

    4. Cece

      10000000%!!!

    5. cs

totally agree, can’t figure out why anyone would think Disney can just pack up & move. Kids need to be kids no need to teach them about sex, gay or straight in k-3

    6. Dawn

FFS!!!! It’s not about teaching SEX. It’s about not being able to even discuss gender. Which also would include cis boys and cis girls. It was created to marginalize the LGTB Community by not allowing mention that any kids may have 2 dads or 2 moms. If they go by the letter of the law, they should do away with both “Mother’s Day” and “Father’s Day” because the mention of any parent should be off limits.

And that actually has little to nothing to do with why they should relocate. Now the people living in the two Counties are going to be responsible for the funding for the Police/Medical Response/Fire Dept, road ways, upkeep of the surrounding areas, and more. What was just vacated by that idiot of a Governor was what was allowing the Disney Corp to pay for all of the services on its own.

      1. Not a sheep

I love seeing you mentally ill snowflakes have temper tantrums. Classic.

      2. Walt

There is much more to losing status than what you list. Autonomy and being able to do whatever the heck they want is huge. Disney have ruined Walts legacy which was a place for parent sto take their kids that was clean and safe, to provide family entertainment. Not to stick their nose into the radical politics of the left. P.S. gender is an artificial construct. 100 years ago they will dig up your bones and will be able to tell if you were male or female – but NOTHING about what you thought or claimed you were.

    7. Brooklyn

      Amen JimtheDj.

    8. Tammy

      AMEN!!!! Best comment.

    9. Walt

Not to mention then fire and then hire or relocate personnel the the new area. Of course Disney will have no problem locating 43 SQUARE MILES of property to move everything to! This just shows how stupid these people are and how little real world problem solving they have done. But then Alexandria Ocasio Cortez is a economics graduate too! (hahaha It just dawned on me that her last name “cortez” is the familial name of one of those evil Europeans that came over here and committed genocide on indiginous people)

    10. Shaneatl99

You and your gay friends don’t have a problem with it. Yeah most normal people won’t. It’s the woke, wake up in the morning looking for something to be offended by crowd that does

    11. Gatorgab

Im gay top and agree 100% with you! And I cancelled my 2 annual Disney passes as well.

    12. Sherry

      Absolutely you nailed it

    13. Rob

I cannot like this comment enough. You win the internet today.

    14. Roger

Thank you for your common sense. God Bless.

    15. A Thiel

      Well said! Totally agree!

    16. Allie

If they sub divide the land and sell it all they have more money than god

    17. Cheryl Ann Chiodo

What about little Susie who has two moms and is never allowed to talk about what her family did over vacation. You see she can’t because too many questions will arise about why she has 2 mommy’s. Republicans want little Susie to feel shame that she has two moms and not a mom & dad. It has nothing to do with sex because there is not a single teacher in Florida who teaches K-3 what happens in adult bedrooms! This is purposely designed for these children to be shamed and bullied in schools because Republican parents think they should feel ashamed and feel less accepted.

      1. Be Nice

I read and reread the bill multiple times, did you even read it once? It does not prevent children from talking about their families no matter what the make-up of that family is. It stops teachers from having these discussions with the students and to refer any questions to the students’ parents. On your point about “not a single teacher in Florida who teaches K-3 what happens in adult bedrooms!” that is a very naive statement, I will pray that you do not have a young child that ends up in a classroom with that teacher that ‘slips’ through. NO Person never mind a child should be bullied That includes LGTBQ+ individuals. We are all part of the human race!

    18. Lily

As a Floridian, who lives 10 minutes from WDW, I plan to exercise my GREATEST right in this nation. I’m going to help VOTE DUH-SANTIS OUT. I’ll even volunteer to campaign to get his DUH-ma$$ out of office.

    19. Lily

As a Floridian, who lives 10 minutes from WDW, I plan to exercise my GREATEST right in this nation. I’m going to help VOTE DUH-SANTIS OUT. I’ll even volunteer to campaign to get his DUH-ma$$ out of office.

    20. JJ

      Jim, read the bill.

The K-3 nonsense is a red herring because no one teaches K-3 about sexual orientation.

The state senator that authored the bill hate gay people and has condemned gay parents.

The guts of this bill is language he included that governs what is taught to grades 4-12.

Any parent can object to anything they find objectionable, even if all other parents in a school district are fine with it.

The School District has no say on the issue. Rather, the District has to hire a hearings officer at its own expense and ultimately the State Board (DeSantis’ weird appointees) or the far right Republican Florida Supreme Court decides what is taught.

Religious conservatives can flood a school district with objections, each of which is entitled to a hearing in front of a hearings officer ( a lawyer approved by the DeSantis controlled State Board).

      1. Be Nice

@JJ You may be correct about the previous comments from the senator that authored the bill however… we have seen schools and politicians claim that they don’t think parents should be involved in raising their own children! The biggest thing in this bill addresses the need to inform parents of any issues concerning their child!

    21. Harry

Thank you for having common sense. A lot of people are even saying “Oh, then I guess you’d be okay about not talking about straight relationships?”

Yes! I would totally be okay with that! Leave it to the parents.

    22. Peter for Truth

Jim the DJ is so not gay. Only a bigoted white cis male would even think a gay man would refer to himself that way.
      Nice try troll.

  7. We want you to leave, please do!! We don’t need corporations to finance a bill that our state government approves to be overturned. This is what our state citizens wanted. We do not want “groomers” teaching our children. Your employees are young, offer them to keep their jobs relocating with you. Believe me, we have many businesses that want to bring their corporations to our state. They will be up and running before you know it

    1. Ash

The fact that you use the term groomer shows you have been proagandized and by whom. You’re acting like a political tool, and it is unlikely you’ll ever be satisfied as you’ll always be yanked too and fro by political whim.
If you hear something that makes you scared or angry on the news, I suggest you expand your sources to be sure. Select a political philosophy and follow that…or not. But we get to point and laugh if you don’t.

      1. Bruton

You just described everyone who refers to it as the “Don’t say gay” bill.

        1. Marty

Jimthedj, you NAILED IT!! THANK YOU!

    2. Rob

      You are a vile person.

You imply gay people are only gay if they are groomed. I was not groomed; I grew up feeling alone and misunderstood because I have no resources to understand that being gay was natural and beautiful.

When your politics cause you to dehumanize people who are different from you, probably in the name of “God” who’s holy book which instructs you to treat others with love and respect and contradicts your trashy inhumane behavior, that represents the lowest of the low.

Try love on… it’s a much better look.

      1. Kevin

Where in the world are you getting that this bill has anything to do with it being “in the name of God”. Project YOUR hypocritical prejudices much?

      2. drew who

Do you not realize that pretty much everyone grows up feeling misunderstood ? I imagine many of us grow up feeling alone at times . Its nothing to do with sexuality its to do with being an adolescent .

I don’t think this is about dehumanizing you its about seeking parental permission before schools can teach children about homosexuality . I think they should also do the same in the case of heterosexual sex education . That was what they had to do when I was a child .

Outside of a sex education class no teacher should bring up the subject of sexuality of any kind to a child because that is a form of abuse . Essentially if you a teaching Geography why would you want to talk to children about gay sex or straight sex in such a class ?

In a way you are living proof that schools do not have to teach minors about homosexuality because you turned out alright didn’t you ?

There does need to legislation to protect the rights of parents . This isn’t about you its about them and what they feel is best for their children . They have a right for their child to be educated in a way they find acceptable . If you become a parent you should have the same rights and when the time comes you can give your permission for your son or daughter to attend that particular class .

What is so wrong about that ?

        1. Kevin

The Bill does cover the teaching of ALL sexuality not just homosexuality, Drew. The Left leaning media outlets don’t mention this when they are spinning their narrative about it.

          1. drew who

Well it sounds like a sensible piece of legislation then . Personally if I had a son or daughter I would want them to be taught about heterosexual sexuality at around the same age I was 12-13 because it reduces the chances of unwanted pregnancy . In regards to Homosexual sex education that isn’t an issue and could offered to older teens if they express a desire to learn about it . I don’t think any reference to sexuality should be discussed by teachers outside of such classes .

          2. JJ

Drew, except the bill expressly provides that any parent can object to content they personally find objectionable and require that the School District grant them a hearing, not by the School Board, but by an outside hearings officer.

The outcome of that hearing then goes to the DeSantis controlled State Board of Education filled with religious nuts or the far right State Supreme Court.

Do a little homework about the person who proposed this legislation in the Florida Senate.

he has made some pretty disgusting comments about gay people.

          3. drew who

Well it sounds like a sensible piece of legislation then .That is pretty fair and even handed imo

    3. Monty Burns

Using the term groomer. So pathetic. Q-Anon much? LOL

      1. Kevin

Zeroing in on one word in someone’s comment instead of the main point (being that the majority of citizens in Florida are FOR this bill). Even more pathetic. CNN much? LOL

        1. TQ

The majority of citizens in Florida are not for this bill only the Deathsantis right wing religious nuts are!! The same ones who are behind the selfishness of not wearing masks during a pandemic. The same ones who are against free speech if it isn’t theirs! The same ones who want to decide what a woman can and can’t do with her own body! The same ones who refuse to get vaccinated for the sake of all of us! The same ones who would like to get rid of all Blacks, Gays and Jews! The same ones who say teachers are groomers when they themselves are! The same ones who ban books! The same ones who want their children to hate because they do! All of you right wing fascists who call Florida free because you have a Facist Dictator and facist legislators to do your bidding. Florida is not free it is worse then Cuba, Russia, China, Trump, Fox and the Republicans in US congress combined. This Citizen does not feel free or safe!!!!!!

    4. Cheryl Ann Chiodo

Give us one real world teacher in Florida who actually “groomed” students to be gay? There are more straight white males charged in Florida for raping kids then there are gay or transgender teachers. Where does the real threat exist?

      1. Be Nice

I don’t care whether the teacher is straight or gay they should NOT be teaching children about ANY sexual content. that is what this bill is about!!!

    5. Kitty

Total lack of formal education. You were liking posting LGB on your granny Facebook page a few months back.

  8. Mary Feagle

Disney World was started in Florida so in Florida it should stay.i am a Floridian and I love Disney World. To move it would be like taking the heart out of someone who isn’t dead.As a Floridian I can tell you we love our them parks.

    1. Kitty

As horrid as DeSantis is, WDW will never move first and foremost for the 70 plus degree weather 365 days a year. They will never move. It’s asinine to think they will. Nobody is going to a theme park when it’s 40 out.

  9. halloweenfan

In Florida, DeSantis is King. However, as you note in this article, for right now, the legislature can pass all they want, but until they remove the law that says special districts can only be dissolved by its own members, this is nothing but political theater.

But let’s pretend it’s not. What does this mean for Disney World and You?

For Disney World, they’ll lose their own “government,” so to speak and have to rely on local authorities for police, fire, and emergency services. They’ll also rely on local counties for their utilities. What’s it mean for Disney World? Nothing – except having to find ways to conduct business like Universal Studios, Legoland, etc who don’t get these special privileges. Oh.. and expect the cost of admission to skyrocket. The magic will also be gone as real first responders will be first seen and Disney won’t be able to hide the injured or deceased by dragging them out of sight.

For You, it depends. If you live in Orange or Osceola counties, your taxes are about to go WAY UP. You’re now taking on ALL of Disney’s expenses and their $5 billion debt. If you live in Florida, more taxes, more debt means more poverty and more crime. Oh – and Florida’s largest employer would go bye-bye attributing to the massive crime spree that is inevitable. When I left Florida in 2014 I left amid a huge storm of crime. It simply wasn’t safe to live in Florida, especially where I lived. But I believe this will ultimately have bigger consequences. Ultimately, if this goes into effect and if Disney decides they don’t want to be treated equal, they could very much just “pack their bags and leave Florida.”

    How so, you ask?

The very same way they built a theme park in the middle of a sea – they built something from nothing. In the case of Disneyland Tokyo (which Disney doesn’t own but helped with) this happened using reclaimed land. Imagine taking your local river and filling it up with soil and then walking over this new ground. That’s what they did. Although it would cost trillions easily, it could be done. And frankly that attitude Walt had is what Disney’s needing right now.

    1. Perfectly put

      Best comment! Thank you!
Disney needed to be reminded they are a company and not king as well. They need a crash course from Universal! I have really grown to respect Universal. They stick to what they are here for, Family entertainment…

      1. David Hall

As an American corporation, Disney has the same rights to free speech as any individual citizen. Imagine that you exercise your right to free speech then your government passes legislation against you. Legislation which infringes upon your ability to earn a living and support your family…just for exercising your constitutional rights. That is the real issue here. And lets not forget that the Disney Corporation has invested tens of billions of dollars into the Florida economy, creating tens of thousands of jobs through direct employment, and hundreds of thousands of additional jobs through indirect employment, pumping billions of dollars into the annual economy of Florida, and billions of dollars of tax revenue into state and local communities. What Florida government did to Disney in return is reprehensible conduct no matter the reason. I could not care less about the so called “Don’t Say Gay” bill one way or another, but Disney should have the right to express their view on this, or any matter. Disney deserved better treatment than to be attacked for exercising their constitutionally protected right to free speech.

    2. TQ

They have a right to free speach!!! The only ones at fault here are Deathsantis and the Republican legislature who forget we live in the United States of America where free speech is a right and the government has no right to stop or retaliate against it! What Facist Dictator Deathsantis did was unconstitutional!!! No better then Dump and his cohorts or friends like Fox and Russia!!!

  10. L.

Yeah, not going to happen. Red states are far too friendly to a large corporation’s bottom line for them to head back to a blue one. In fact, we have already seen many of them relocate operations in the past few years. Disney itself already moved several branches from CA to FL. So much interference in CA during Covid was the final straw on that.

  11. How delusional. FYI, most, and I do mean most, residents of Florida and citizens across the country applaud Florida. As a shareholder of Disney, and a father, I do not want a corporation spending money on a political agenda. The CEO and employees can spend their own money and time championing their ideas, but not corporate money. You do know don’t you the parents of children spend the money that keeps Disney afloat. There are not enough homosexuals in the world that can replace the dollars spent at Disney by the silent majority. Dollars just don’t materialize out of thin air. It has got to come from somewhere. The damage is done. Sold my shares. Look at earnings next quarter and get a clue.

    1. Josh

Take your homophobia elsewhere. There is no silent majority and Most do not applaud your abhorrent Governor and stupid legislature

      1. Not a sheep

I love seeing mentally ill snowflakes, like yourself, having tantrums is funny.

      2. J

        You are sooooo wrong.

      3. Richard Dauphinais

You are so wrong. A majority of Floridians and the rest of the country don’t see it your way.

    2. Kitty

Please keep boycotting and canceling Disney. Need more of you to leave. I still can’t a brunch reservation at Topolino’s.

As I always say, don’t go away mad, just go away.

      Thanks!

    3. TQ

Most residents of Florida or the US DO NOT agree with your facist idiology!! I am not gay and neither are most of the residents of our state or country that are against your facist ideas! Take your Deathsantis, Trump, Carlson and the facist Repubs and move to Russia, China or Cuba and let us get back to our democracy!!

  12. Nanny

I understand the frustration, but Disney have been around since I was born and Disney is not the one who should move. #MoveDeSantis . It is plenty of Floridians who love Disney and is tired of the politics.

    1. kw4life

Let Florida sink. Disney can cease operations in Florida over the next few years and gradually pull back its involvement in that region. Lets see how long Orlando lasts…fools.

In any case, its time for the South to sink back to the depths. That region of the country is a vestige and nothing more.

      1. Tracy Lewandowski

        A) Disney is located in Kissimmee. B) Disney parks are not half as cool as Busch Gardens/ Sea World and cost far more. C) Disney is too big for it’s mousey britches.
        D) The employees are paid slave wages. Florida doesn’t need more jobs like that. We have plenty.
        E) By the time they moved, the applicable politics might change 8x.

        1. LCFlorida

Um, Walt Disney World is literally the most popular and highest revenue-earning theme park on the planet. It’s also NOT located in Kissimmee – it’s located in Bay Lake and Lake Buena Vista. Do you live in central Florida or are you just copying and pasting some things you’ve seen on the internet?

        2. David Hall

If Disney should shut down their operations and move to another location outside of the state, what would the effect be on the economy of both Florida and surrounding communities? Without the influx of tourists spending dollars into the economy, how would that tax income be replaced. Who would be staying at the hotels, patronizing the restaurants, spending money in the stores, buying goods and services? Disney is greatly responsible for establishing Florida and the greater Orlando area as the premier tourist destination spot in the entire world, synonymous with the identity of the state of Florida as a vacation hotspot. Florida voters may realize that you don’t make a point by burning down your own house.

  13. Fl48gurl

I love in Florida and this is nothing but political theatre from Trump’s Mini- Me Ron DeSantis.
But I’m actually old enough to remember when Republicans stood for smaller government. Now…Ron wants to inject the government into every part of our lives and any corporation that p*sses him off MUST pay and pay dearly. Hmmm…sounds more like Putin’s Russia or Orban’s Hungary than America. Very authoritarian. God help us all.

    1. Not a sheep

I love seeing you mentally ill snowflakes have temper tantrums. Classic.

  14. HG

    Bye Bye Disney

  15. Mamaw

Brace yourselves Floridians for tax hikes across your sunshine state. Lawsuits are expensive for taxpayers, and your governor is running up a hefty tab. If Disney sinks, BILLIONS of tourist dollars will go down with it. Get rid of DeSantis & keep those tourist dollars rolling in!

    1. Henry

Foolish thought Disney isn’t moving, America is still a majority of reasonable consumers, the CEO, and board of Directors will be fired before the financial damage is done! Long live a straight Mickey Mouse!

      1. Richard Dauphinais

        Ok homo.

      2. Kevin

Calling for the deaths of people who don’t agree with you? How “tolerant”. I have a funny mustached guy from 1930s Germany on the line who wants to speak with you.

  16. Jess

Disney could remove all their imagery & rent the parks out to new operators, individual attractions could be managed by investors who want a share of the parks overall revenue

    1. John Ackerby

If that’s the way a move from Florida went down then Florida wouldn’t suffer much if Disney left. Florida only suffers if Disney takes all of their “stuff” (rides and everything) with them when they leave. The GOP knows Disney can’t do that so they’re picking on Disney.

  17. Mark

I’m just waiting for the day most of the prime coastal real estate is under water. I know Disney World won’t be affected, but I have hope to live to see the collapse of Florida’s aquifer. I hope not a pennyof federal money is spent trying to save that state. Once you can’t water your guests Disney will have to move and the park will become a scary ghost town. Floridians, when this day comes expect to be treated how a conservative would treat a Mexican immigrant with leprosy. 🙂

    1. Not a sheep

Step away from the pipe, Sunshine.

    2. Kim

Won’t happen. Even horrible Pelosi bought an ocean front mansion in Florida. They know climate change is just about laundering more money back to them.

    3. Kevin

Al Gore, is that you again? Thanks for proving that liberalism is indeed a mental disease..

  18. Angel Curbelo

Bye Disney. Put another park in Crazyfornia, where the liberals run ramped…

    1. Josh

      Go back to Cuba

  19. betty

reading the article they mention Don’t say Gay bill……read the bill before making that statement the word Gay is not in the Bill. As a parent I do not want the state teaching my Kindergarten child about sex it is the parents job. besides the are learning the ABC’s their numbers, tie their shoes, why sex

    1. Sickening

So by the age of 10, kids know the proper rules of an orgy.

    2. MJLOCK

NOONE IS TEACHING ABOUT SEX!! If one child has 2 fathers and the other kids in 1st grade ask the teacher why – all the teacher has to say is that they love each other and got married and are raising their son and are a happy family. What this law does is to prohibit teachers from even talking about this child’s 2 fathers to help the children understand, DeSantis is telling this child his parents are so evil it’s a crime to even talk about them! Now that’s what’s evil! Families can look very different, but what’s important that they are in a loving and happy family. I WISH everyone was as concerned about child abuse and child rape as they are about children knowing there are people different than them.

  20. Tennessee

What a bunch of hogwash. Disney can’t just move. The weather of Florida itself is a huge part of the experience as well as the original plan of Walt Disney himself. Florida is a great place. A small percentage of people are currently frustrated at the citizens of Florida and their representatives. It is not difficult to understand that the majority of citizens in Florida do not want the religious principles of Secular Humanism taught to their kids in school.

    1. Josh

Jesus I can’t wait until your generation finally dies off

      1. Walt is spinning

        Aids will take your’s. LOL

        1. Toni

I live in Florida and the weather ain’t so great between June and November when its blistering hot and there are hurricanes. Disney should leave if for no other reason than to screw over DeSantis for all time.

      2. Cece

Some of the nastiest comments come from y’all who identify as liberal. Don’t worry after they “die off” there’s still plenty of us in other generations who will carry the torch. I refuse to let
You snowflakes ruin life for my kids.

        1. Kevin

Hear Hear, Cece!!! I’ll be picking up that torch too.

      3. Richard Dauphinais

So fags like you can rape children?

    2. David Hall

Last time I checked, you have pretty good year round weather in Georgia, North and South Carolina, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico, Nevada, and Arizona. I realize that any relocation of Disney out of Florida would be dependent not only on acceptable year round weather, but also on population density and good transportation infrastructure. I could see Disney relocation outside of Charlotte or Houston for example, both of which has high population density and great transportation infrastructure, and has state governments and people who would welcome Disney with open arms. I bet that both states would be more than willing to offer Disney the same self government terms that they once enjoyed in Florida.

  21. Henry

You all are NUTS … Walt Disney was about imagineering, creating illusions – ENTERTAINING! Not Politics or Gay rights… he created the village of Celebration as an iconic American town – I don’t think Walt envisioned LGBTQ neighbors ! I guarantee those wishing Disney to relocate are less than 1% of the business model ! Who wants to ride the monorail in a snow storm –

    1. Steve

Walt Disney was dead for about 30 years before Celebration, FL was a thing there Einstein.

  22. Bob H

Let’s all just pray for a hurricane to wipe Florida off the face of the earth all problems solved !

    1. HAHA

Plenty of hurricanes have tried but we are still here.

    2. Kevin

Nah. But I’ll pray for something to wipe out all the far left LIEberal lemmings like you Bob.

      1. Sheep-are-Tasty

I bet bob has a close friend named neil (kneel).

  23. Peggy

It’s not as impossible as you would think. To move Disney from Florida to another state. Consider a state that is economically poor. Mississippi, Tennessee, even a wealthier state Southern California . It may take 10-15 years but if they start negotiating now. I believe it’s possible. Consider this most of the buildings are removable in MK , AK , etc. dismantling items could take time but may be worth it.

I would go to any other state that needs development. I went at 12 yo in 1972. There was nothing out there 192 was the longest stretch of nothing.

    1. Tennessee

Tennessee would not work. People would not like our cold weather in the winter (we can get as cold as Michigan as times) nor would they like the immense amount of rain we get all year but especially in the Spring. Tennessee is economically healthy. But the citizens of Tennessee, like in Florida, do not want the tenets of Secular Humanism taught in schools. Walt himself chose Florida for a reason, one most important being the sunny weather and year round warmth. He himself said this very thing.

    2. Bruton

Where are you going to find 30,000 acres near an international airport in a state with winter weather good enough to support outdoor theme parks year round? The weather requirement alone eliminates all but Southern California, where they’d just be cannibalizing their existing parks, and the Deep South, which is even more conservative than Florida. Moving WDW is an impossibity.

      1. Kevin

Exactly, Bruton. All these “Disney should just move WDW” folks are hilarious. Their theories are completely not rooted in any kind of reality.

      2. David Hall

Texas…outside either Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, or San Antonio offer ample land, population, and both airport and highway infrastructure. I bet that the citizens of Texas would jump at the chance to entice a world class corporation which would employ thousands, and bring millions of tourists spending dollars into their state in a heartbeat. I’m sure that the Texas legislature would be more than willing to offer Disney an ironclad agreement which would allow for a self governing tax district the same as that which was rescinded by Florida, only with guarantees ensuring that the rug would not be pulled out from under them after the company invests tens of billions of dollars building a world class destination spot famous across the world.

    3. Bobby Shaw

Yeah looks like Florida will go bankrupt on tourism without Disney and some other State is gonna clean up being the new vacation destion of choice for about 100 million people a year.

      1. Not a sheep

        Nah, we won’t.

      2. Bruton

I wish I still had an imagination like yours.

  24. Candy Mahoney

    See ya!

  25. Bruton

The “Disney will just leave!” crowd are my favorite people at the moment. Comedy gold. Nothing could more perfectly advertise the complete economic illiteracy of a specific segment of the electorate than that.

    1. Josh

At least they can read unlike another segment of the electorate

      1. Sheep-are-Tasty

        Hysterical much?

      2. drew who

I think the other segment of the electorate obviously can read because they are extremely active online as well . I don’t think you thought that comment through because it is devoid of any logic . Both segments are radicalized extremists and equally dangerous even if they come from different ends of the political spectrum .

    2. Bobby Shaw

Actually Disney would get about $1 Trillion for the land their properties are on so their stock would easily rise high enough to build a theme park in another State. Also their is the $1 billion bonds Disney would no longer be responsible for if they are no longer a corporation. Should put most of Florida jobless.

      1. Walt is spinning

        Nope.

      2. Bruton

Thank you for proving my point in exquisite fashion.

        1. Walt is spinning

          👍😂

  26. VAMama

Actually, it’s three states that have the resources and will gladly accept the revenue due to them underperforming – Alabama, Mississippi & South Carolina. All three have ports for cruises , weather is accommodating, but the airport is the biggest question. With the number of committees Lindsay Graham sits on, he’ll sell his left nipple to expand the Charleston airport. They’ll gladly court Disney in front of Desantis and say nothing personal when he runs for President and loses. Or Disney could play the long game wait for him to run at the beginning of next year, fully find his replacement, get the law repealed, and restore the district with Florida taxpayers footing the Bill and trying to kill off any followers Ron had to prevent this from ever happening again. We’ll see.

    1. Bruton

So, move out of Florida due to the actions of its conservative governor and legislature, and set up shop in Mississippi, Alabama, or South Carolina? Spectacular.

  27. Tash

    Unfortunately, they are.

The parental rights bill is that, parental rights to prevent an sexualization, grooming or unfounded confusion to children in KG to 3rd grade. No child should be exposed to this in a way that is not developmentally appropriate. It ensures parents have a say in when and how their children learn about their own bodies. Innocence is inherently acceptable, not indoctrination. As for the Reedy Creek Issue, no other theme parks in Orlando are given this preferential treatment, or the ability to govern themselves, without any oversight. The big tax breaks will end and add to the economy. If Disney wants to move… Let them. My children’s well being is of the most concern to me. So Bye!

  29. Paul

This sorry excuse for a reporter wrote a one sided story. There are far more people who support our Gov. And the bill…A reporter would put both sides in the article and and let the reader decide../you Ma’am please stay in Canada

    1. Bobby Shaw

Nope nobody supports the corrupt Republicans. Hope you are one of the many that lose your job when Disney leaves the State.

      1. Me

        Triggered!

      2. Bruton

I worry November 9 is going to be a really dark day for you.

  30. Bobby Shaw

Makes me happy to know that the corrupt Republicans will cost Florida around 100,000 jobs. Should mean Democrats will rule the State for next 100 years.

    1. drew who

As much as I would like for the Democrats to win Florida I think the Don’t say Gay bill will win more votes than it loses which is why I don’t think it will end here and other states will follow suit . Even as a liberal I support elements of this legislation especially in regards to the education of minors about homosexuality . I also don’t see how this will cost them 100 thousand jobs .

    2. Polly Ticks

      Lyndon Johnson, is that you?

    3. Kevin

Lol Bobby is just another melodramatic Lib with his head in the clouds. Thanks for proving the old adage “ignorance is bliss”, Bobby.

  31. Ed P

I wish people would just educate themselves on both sides. Disney DOES NOT have its own police force, they use Orange County Sheriffs. They also have an unarmed security that has literally no police powers whatsoever. Where are people getting this information? The “experts” should seriously educate themselves before opening their mouths. State of Florida just proved free speech doesn’t exist in the state and if you don’t agree with the state agenda you’re the enemy. Just listen to the phrases being used by the politicians, “Disney kicked the hornets nest” these politicians aren’t even realizing their saying it. Good luck come election time…I know who I’m not voting for. Desantis wants to run for president? I fear this guy with nuclear weapons and his tantrums please lord keep him away from twitter…

    1. Jay

If you only had a brain

  32. Steven Einarson

Basically De Santis is using bullying to force companies to bend to his will in a society with free speech through the US constitution. Time has shown that bully behaviour can only be changed by striking back.

Florida is great because of Disney. The amount of tourism due to Disney is mind blowing. Imagine the potential loss in tourism, taxes and job losses in Florida should Disney move out.

All Disney has to do is to put the feelers out about moving to another state and that will make De Santis brown his pants.

    1. Not a sheep

      Mensa member? 🤦‍♂️

    2. Are you against parental rights? Do you think that five and six year olds need to have heterosexual and homosexual sex education classes? Do they need transgenderism pushed on them?

    3. Polly Tick

And Disney, Chapek or the LGBT community minority is not using bullying to push their agenda? Wake up or shut up.

    4. David Hall

I read that pre Covid employment and visitor number for Disney were approximately 77,000 jobs and 58,000,000 visitors. That is a lot of dollars both spent into the Florida economy and collected as taxes. Seems to me that DeSantis is shooting himself in the foot by attacking Disney, and shooting the taxpayers of Florida in the undershorts in the process.

  33. Many of these comments on twitter were born out of ignorance. This push back on a parental rights law proves that people are illiterate and followers. Who on this planet wants their five year old taught sex education? Anyone admitting to that is probably in a minority group. If that is really important to you, teach them at home in the way you want them taught. My teenage daughter’s were embarrassed when I taught them privately. In a classroom with 25 other kids would have embarrassed them to tears. Why is the left bent on masking 2 year olds and indoctrinating them to the point of abuse? Disney’s leadership should be fired for throwing their hat into the sea of ignorance. This company was founded on promoting childhood. Get back to your original purpose, Disney.

  34. Kevin

    Bahahahahahaha!!!

I can’t believe you nutbags are taking this seriously. Are you all adults? I’m trying to wrap my head around how you think Disney would uproot Disney World and move it elsewhere. Lol

Do you understand what type of grandiose expenditure and Herculean task that would be? Do you understand how giant Disney World is, and that leaving it all behind would be a tremendous loss?

Do you not understand that this move would just put them on an even playing field, to compete with the many other theme parks in the area, who don’t have this special privilege? Notice how none of them are speaking up?

Grow up and figure it out, for God’s sake. You’re embarrassing yourselves.

    1. CB

This is the equivalent of we don’t like the rules so let’s just take our ball and go home. you can see how a large part of how liberals think are due to how they were raised. Participant trophy’s for all!

      1. Kevin

Right? The thought process from these types is something else. lol

      2. TQ

My parents raised me to be kind to others no matter how much they drink the kool-aid!! I was raised to look at all sides of the argument before I spoke. My parents raised me to appreciate the inclusion of all people of the United States of America. My parents taught me that bullies do what they do because they are afraid of the smarter kinder people! Bullies need to have power so no one will be able to treat them like their parents did! Fascists are bullies!! DEATHSANTIS AND HIS DESIPLES ARE BULLIES AND FACISTS!!!

    2. Bruton

These people are the absolute best. Hours of free entertainment.

    3. David Hall

Disney has expanded to include dozens of theme parks, resorts, and golf courses covering 28,000 acres developed out over 50 years of growth. Disney employs 77.000 workers and has 58 million visitors per year. For all of that, if Disney received an offer from another state such as Texas, which also enjoys year round warm weather, has plenty of land on which to build, has well developed road and airport infrastructure, and could offer good electrical and water services, Disney would jump on that offer in a heartbeat. Don’t be intimidated or fooled by the amount of development which Disney has completed in Florida. If they perceive a hostile government and business environment, and they receive an attractive relocation offer which includes an ironclad agreement allowing a self governing tax district, Disney would be compelled to leave. Florida should not be so eager to kill the golden goose…the only one laying an egg is DeSantis, and that is brown, not golden.

  35. CB

This is hilarious, that people think Disney is like the Raiders or Rams and they can just move cities. Disney world is a city. It would be like Austin saying, we don’t like Texas anymore let’s move to Arizona. So Disney will just turn off 6 parks, a mall, and 25 resorts because they aren’t getting their tax breaks? Also you realize Chapek isn’t even liberal he’s just cowering to the woke mob, he even put his “hard earned” lol money into republican politics. Also funny how 2 years ago people were clamoring for Disney to leave California because much of the country had got back to life after Covid but the county of orange and governor Newsom weren’t letting Anaheim open back up.

  36. ROGER D STEVENS

Just impeach the Florida Governor, problem solved?

    1. Kevin

You obviously do not know how government or the law works and are obviously a Liberal. You need grounds to impeach someone. Hurt feelings don’t count.

    2. TQ

      Yesssssssss. I agree!!!!!!

  37. Walt

Dear Disney, please stop pandering to the LGBTQRSTUV+ losers, they already receive the lions share of attention from you through almost every single movie project or attraction you produce. Remember your other audience, your larger audience, the normal folks out there who’ve loyally supported the company through the good times and the bad, all while paying those ever increasing fees at the parks.

Don’t forget us, we’ve always been here, even before it became Instagram popular to be a lesbian or gay couple.

    1. Walt

“Loyally supported”, like the Southern Baptist who boycotted Disney from 1997-2005?

That’s what is mind boggling about this decision. Disney has overwhelmingly supported Republicans. Reality is today’s Republican party is nothing like the party of Reagan. Please bring back the Republican party that believed in freedom. Reagan knew retribution seeking politicians like DeSantis and Nixon belonged in Cuba not in the greatest country on earth.

    2. Lily

My. You have become a shameful expression of the Lord’s faith. 1 John 4:21 – go read it. God hangs His head with your words of hate.

    3. Lily

My. You have become a shameful expression of the Lord’s faith. 1 John 4:21 – go read it. God hangs His head with your words of hate.

  38. Roc

Raise your hands if you believe Disney is going to leave when they can charge whatever they want at their current location and still have record attendance. Where would Disney relocate to? Colorado? could only operate 8 months out of the year. New York? Disney will not pay those taxes. Name a place where they should go. I hope everyone who is upset about this boycott going to Florida because it would make my time at the beach much more enjoyable, but as AOC showed us all during Covid, Florida is better than New York. BTW, Disney has been going to the Florida government for decades with their hands out getting money for infrastructure projects such as roads on their property.

    1. Mantis

Yeah. You guys did great. To quote the AARP “Florida Leads Nation in Number of COVID-19 Deaths of Nursing Home Residents and Staff”

      1. Jay

        That is New York

        1. Mantis

Nope. READ THE ARTICLE. Look at the statistics, you’ve been FOX’d. New York initially did a poor job – mostly because of Cuomo but also because NY nursing homes charge $200K per year and were reluctant to admit they couldn’t deal with COVID at that price. I had a parent in one at the time.

          1. Kevin

You’re uneducated and uninformed. Wear your mask. Get your 4th booster. Leave the rest of us alone.

        2. Lily

Central FL just went from 1600 new Covid cases in one week to a jump of 11,600 cases. Interesting.

    2. David Hall

      Texas

  39. Walt

    Disney won’t move Disney World.

However, it is business 101 to start looking at other options. The removal of the special district means big government in the state will decide what Disney can and cannot do in Florida. If the counties work with Disney, the state will cut funding to the counties. We’ve seen this same playbook in several states.

Best solution is to consider a 3rd destination in a state that will work with Disney. Reality is people have begged for a 5th theme park in Florida. It never made sense. Better to build in another state. Make it easier for customers to reach one of your parks. Reality is Florida and California are more than a days drive for a large portion of Americans.

Many Floridians will admit construction in their state takes twice as long as it does in most states. Real innovation can’t wait for slow workers.

    1. david

The only really logical place to put another park would be Texas. The politics there are on par with Florida and wouldn’t be a whole lot better for a company that can’t stop tripping over its own johnson right now.

      1. David Hall

I agree that Texas makes the most sense. There is plenty of available land outside of Houston on which to build. Houston has port facilities for cruise ships, a world class airport, and can offer utility services such as water and electrical. Houston also is a major population center which can supply the labor force needed to staff a major theme and resort park such as Disney. The company also has the leverage to negotiate an ironclad self governing tax district agreement with state government to replace what Florida decided to unilaterally rescind. Floridians seem to think that they have Disney over some sort of a barrel because they are so big and have developed out so much. The reality is that Disney could replace all of that development in another location and move on. It would be expensive but Disney could remain open in Florida while the new theme park is built in Texas, and then offset some of the expenses by selling the now vacant Florida acreage. I’m betting that a new theme park and resort complex built from the ground up would be much better than what is in Florida. Need a comparison, look no further than how Las Vegas was rebuilt into the world class entertainment and gambling destination that it is now.

  40. The Mouse is Dead

Disney burnt their bridges in California and now they are doing it in Florida.

What on earth is going on with this crazy Disney Board.

Its beyond time for this Greedy Board to be replaced.

Bob Chapek you need to go before you do anymore damage.

    1. Kevin

It’s not only Chapek. It’s the Reimagine Tomorrow department, the current Board of Directors, it was Bob Iger (who set the stage), etc.

Big changes definitely need to happen, but let’s stop pretending it’s only Chapek. Disney is a cesspool, these days.

    2. Mantis

Please. The current politics of the state are an antithesis of everything that Disney has promoted. Forget getting rid of the board, get the out of Florida and to somewhere a little more normal.

      1. Kevin

HAH… “Get out of Florida” said the unrealistic/unreasonable Leftist. Current politics in Florida is a return to normal. What’s not normal is the divisive politics of Disney and the Left. Find a new corporation to taint… or rather, don’t. You’ve done enough.

  41. yoyo

so it would appear greedy man chapek is also gay. That is his personal choice. There is no way anyone should teach a 5 or 6 year old the birds and the bees. Straight or gay. They are not sexualized beings. Its sick and perverse. Shame on Chapek. Walt would have gladly been behind this bill.

  42. Louden

Move Disney from Florida and get their woke filth out of here.

    1. TQ

You and Deathsantis are the filth

  43. Jim Bob

I think Disney has more leverage in actuality than this grandstanding bully running Florida.

I imagine that if Disney announced the eventual shutdown of its Florida park as a result of this legislation – the politicians advocating this legislation would sing a very different tune. And likely very quickly.

Unless that is – they choose to ignore their constituents – who would likely boot them out of their cushy jobs come next election.

    1. Bruton

The only way you’ll ever see Disney announce they are closing WDW is indeed in your imagination. Nothing has done a better job of illustrating that a portion of the population doesn’t have any connection to the real world than this issue.

      1. Jim Bob

Ya ok. The “real world” is the like the mean spirited “cultural war” declared in 1992 by that sage Pat Buchanan. Is that what you mean by “real world”?

Or does “real world” mean a Jan 6 insurrection and a rejection of our democratic values?

You are ruining this country with your “real world”. And bullies and demagoguery against groups of people that are different than you are is not what this country is all about. Nor was it the intention of the founders of this nation.

Tell you what. I know what freedom and justice mean. I don’t need your bias against gays and lesbians. Keep that to yourself please.

And btw I am heterosexual. I am however tired of your intolerance in general. Grow up please.

  44. Mike

Once Trump wins in 2024 and America “Crowns him King” Trump supports and will buy Disney FL. King Trump will proclaim, its the “KingDON of the World”
Disney will run loaded with $$$

  45. Lee

Disney, you represent what is right and good. If you do nothing, you will become the antithesis of everything you say you stand for. The brand will become meh and your company will lose influence and respect around the world. But if you stand up fight this, by moving out of Florida, you will be respected around the world. People will buy your products just because they support companies that do the right thing for the people. You should sell the park, take everything inside it and move out of Florida. If you do this, your company will soar and become respected everywhere.

    1. Mantis

I agree. There are other places that can use the revenue Disney brings in. Let Florida do without it.

    2. Bruton

Disney is cool operating parks in China, and you think their international reputation is on the line over teaching 3rd graders about gender identity? Amazing.

      1. Lee

This is about many things. It is about democracy and freedom of choice and it is about how authoritarian regimes make us not America anymore. Do we really want to live in a place where everyone is forced to be the same? If Disney submits to this, then they are buying into the idea that the USA can be remade from the pattern of 1933’s Fascist Germany.

  46. Lynn

Might as well move Disney out of Florida. Unless you earn big bucks Disney has become outrageously expensive. The hotels are super expensive. Well let’s face it everything in Disney is through the roof. Traffic in Orlando is crazy. We have enough with Universal Sea world. Lego land. My husband and myself and my granddaughter spent a week in Times Square. Saw three Broadway plays. Visited 3 tv shows and stayed at the Hilton. Cost a lot less than a week in Disney. This included plane fare.

  47. Mantis

Disney has always been about inclusion and acceptance. The political climate in the south at current does not lend itself to this notion. Basically, the further you are out on the fringes of the conservative ethos, the more popular are with the perceived base. While Disney has a large investment in Florida, that in itself may not be enough incentive to keep them their indefinately. If I were them, I would be at least investigating new locations elsewhere in the US, Puetro Rico, or the Virgin Islands.

  48. Mantis

Disney needs to move somewhere a little less “Handmaids tale with a more contemporary government – like the Taliban.

    1. Sheep-are-Tasty

I love seeing you mentally ill snowflakes have temper tantrums. Classic.

      1. bluecollarcritic

I think Mantis was being facetious. Even the wokest of the woketopians knows that Afghanistan, controlled by the Taliban, would not be a good alternative location.

      2. Mantis

Would be nice if I was a liberal, but no I have voted republican more often then not.

      3. TQ

Is that all you know? Copy and paste!!!!

    2. Jerry

So a ban on teaching sex to 5 year olds is equivalent to the “Handmaids Tale?”
You liberals are sick, sick people. I can’t believe teaching little kids about sexuality is the hill you people decide to die on.

      1. Mantis

Again, not a liberal but nice try. The concept of banning teaching of anything – like the fact that gay (or any) people are not equivalent to you or me – is abhorrent. And that’s what that law is doing. And what gets me is that even if I did care, this would be issue number 999 of 1000 relative to the problems we currently have.

        1. Bruton

So you don’t think there should be any prohibitions on what is taught in the classroom? You’re totally fine with, say, holocaust denial?

          1. TQ

So you are not only a republican facist you are also a NATZI!!!

  49. Jerry

Let them go if they want. Their prices are out of control so most people can’t afford to go to Disney anyway anymore. The only people that can afford it these days are the wealthy.

  50. Dan

So shareholders would support the company literally spending billions and billions of dollars to move out of Florida just because of a culture war? What happens if DeSantis is elected president? What will Disney do then?
The shareholders are already ticked off at management and want Chapek out because he’s a joke.

We are not going to teach sex to little kids. No matter how much you liberals cry about it.

  51. Keith

I think Disney ought to raise ticket prices by $10 and make an announcement that $10 from every ticket purchase will be donated to LGBTQ+ non-profit organizations.

  52. Rick

Let me start off saying that we love Disney and everything that Walt envisioned for the parks. The current political atmosphere is toxic. Attempting to force a minority belief about “sexuality” or “gender identity” on the majority is wrong at its core. Adults are free to live their lives as they choose, but do not assume that the rest of the adult population will stand idle while you try to indoctrinate our children with “woke” ideologies. Disney should have remained silent on the school policy debate. Is there a public school on Disney property we are not aware of? Should Disney pull out of Florida? No. To what end? The left will get their wish anyway, that is if they truly believe in their environmentalist agenda that thinks Florida will be underwater by the end of the century due to “global warming”. Anyway…. Have a magical day!

  53. Jim

You bunch of stone cold idiots, Disney can not move out of Florida. Where the F would they go, NJ as one idiot suggested? Its cold snowy and a crap hole state. It would cost billions to buy property, and rebuild. You idiots have no idea how logistics works. No one wants to go to NJ or NY, or Kalifornaia Seattle or any other sh!t hole liberal place. You can go to San Francisco and play the don’t step in the Homless asshat poop game.

    1. Toni

Before Disney World, Orlando and the surrounding area was a “crap hole”. Look at it now. Disney changed the landscape and it will change the landscape wherever it goes.

  54. Jim

So Florida does not want your bull Sh!t retarded men can be women and vise versa, along with your woke crap taught to their kids. I agree, 3rd graders do not need to know whos hooo hooo the freak teacher want in her or his Ha Ha. You people are freaks.

    1. TQ

Your the freaks you voted for Deathsantis, Dump, Gatze!!

  55. Ray

BAHAHAH! Hope those Floridians don’t mind paying an extra 20 – 25% more in their taxes to cover the services Disney paid!

    Only in Florida – DERP!

  57. MJLOCK

The thing I love about Disney World is that everyone is welcome. No one cares who you are; that person next to you in line could be opposite political party, religion, sexual orientation, etc., but you just smile and say hello. Everyone is there to have a happy time, and everyone does! In the words of WALT DISNEY HIMSELF: “To ALL that come to this happy place, WELCOME. Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past, and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. Disneyland is dedicated to the ideals, the dreams, and the hard facts that have created America… with hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world.”

  58. Debbie Zaborny

Time for Both Disneys to be gone. Disneyland and Disney world. They No Longer have the Morals that Walt Disney started Disney with.

    1. TQ

Not it is time for your kind to be gone….Russia, Cuba and China are waiting for all of you!!!!

  59. MJLOCK

To all you people who are suddenly so horrified that gay people actually go to Disney – just like “regular” people like you, I have news for you – this isn’t something new! Disney hasn’t changed a single thing, there are no new rules. Ever since I can remember, over 20 years, the first Sat. in June is Gay Day. We used to go to Star Wars Weekends and would overlap, they would all wear red shirts, my young children would ask why those 2 men or women were holding hands, you just explain they love each other, some people were born different, but they are exactly the same as any other couple or family in the park. So now DeSantis is suddenly angry that they won’t change their parks to conform to his right wing attempt to control every person so he will play politics to try to punish them. There are actually over 1800 places in FL with the same status, including The Villages and Daytona Speedway, but these wingnuts are writing this bill to only target any entity before 1968.

  60. Freebird

Disney should definitely move out of Florida.

    1. TQ

      You first

  61. Kahn25

This page is full of woke idiots… Now hear this… DISNEY is going no-where. They could never build what they have built in Florida so zip-it. But I would love for them to try, it would be validation that stupid woke idealism is bad for business!

  62. Len Hobbs

I agree with, and support, the Governor of Florida, the state legislatures’ decision to pass the bill and the global condemnation of the Disney company – the world’s largest purveyor of filth and perversion to young people.

Disney is on the wrong side of the debate and cannot, intellectually, defend their actions. If there was ANY merit to the ‘move out of Florida’ crusade by activists – Disney would have the trucks lined up today.

However, Disney will NOT leave Florida. Why? Because Disney is in it for the MONEY….and all the screaming, wailing and cursing from maniacal activists will not change anything.

Disney is controled by people who are incredibly incompetent, who have no moral compass and who are, myopically, wandering down a dead end path. There is no magic left in the Kingdom…

    1. Toni

Of course it’s in it for the money, it’s a business, and DeSantis is going to learn the hard way that businesses, especially multi-billion dollar businesses, can go anywhere they want.

    2. TQ

Deathsantis and the Florida Republicans are not the globe!!! The last paragraph of your statement applies to you and all of them!!! Not Disney!!!!

  63. If they move , Go to a State that isn’t pushing for the same kind of laws
Also, lets see the same Pressure put on the NCAA to remove ALL Bowl Games from Florida and other sgtates that rely on this Income from tourists.

  64. Marcus

Right like they’re gonna move four giant theme parks and all those hotels. I don’t care what side of the fence you sit on politically- this is just stupidity. People wasting time and energy breathing more negativity into the world. Lol idiots

  65. Jared Jones

And here’s ITM to voice the unheard opinion from the fringe left to move WDW over “Florida’s politics”.. Never-mind the MASS majority of fans who so repudiated Disney so widely that the stock has CRATERED!! This is the equivalent of a 10 car pile up going unreported while we talk about the little kid on his bike who fell off across the street. 🙂

  66. Lisa

Leave Orlando go back to California you freaks!!!!! I support gays but you misrepresented this whole law!

  67. Jazmine

Most ridiculous comment is move to New York. So what, they just close in the winter?!

  68. Mike

I live in Florida but I can’t stand Desantis. He is completely power hungry and he just wants to punish anyone or any company that stands up against him.

Disney should just move out of Florida. The fact is Central Florida needs Disney more than Disney needs Florida. I have no doubt there are plenty of states that would love to have Disney and all the jobs they would bring with them.

The state of Florida is now run by a bunch of extreme right wing politicians and a dictator as governor. It used to be a nice place to live but all the Republicans moving into the state over the past 2 decades has made it a terrible place to live now.

Fortunately with my wife and me both being retired, we no longer have to live here and we are in the process of selling our home and moving to Hawaii. Even though I have lived in Florida for 60 years, except for my 4 years in the military, I will not miss this state one bit.

    1. Tim

And will not miss you eitherDon’t let the door hit you in the a$$ on your way out. Bon Voyage

    2. Peace

You are 100% correct. deathsantis is ruled by his thirst for power. He can’t control his anger of Disney disagreeing with him. We are all witnessing one of his frequent temper tantrums. He is choosing power over what is good for Florida. Disney is great for Florida. Before Disney World central Florida was just a swamp full of snakes and alligators and mud. God help us if he becomes president when the whole country will learn how it feels to live under a dictator.

  69. Tim

You people are distorting this bill and LYING about what it does. It is not about hate. NO indoctrination!

    1. Sam L

This bill IS all about hate, purposely vague and very dangerous to kids.

Simply put, Disney or any corporation has no business dictating its values to any legislature. That is the right of the people. If the people of Florida do not like it, they’ll vote to change it. Because Disney did more than just object to the law and vowed to leave no stone to overturn and in arrogance overrule the people of Florida, they will now be taxed just like Universal and Seaworld. It is also wrong for governments to selectively punish corporations. But they brought this on themselves. Stay in your lane Disney.

It would of been lovely to get a chance to vote on this issue but our governor is not one to ask his constituents. He does not want to hear from anyone but himself. He just redrew the voting districts to cancel out 2 African American representatives in DC.

What’s the DUI rate in Florida? Get out of Florida Disney. They don’t know how to choose a singal lane.

        Edit: single.

Was thinking “they don’t know how to use a signal” mixed thought and text”.

Go and don’t let the door hit you in the a$$ on the way out. We will be much happier here without you. Walt must be turning over in his grave at what you libs have done to his place.

    1. Ryan

It’s roughly 3500 dollars a year in addition to any taxes you already pay a year. And it’s about 17x the impact per non-disney business. BUT I am happy you will be fine.

Walt would take care of his employees, rather than bow down to threats from a crazed politician that works through lies, fear and retribution.

It is called Disney World and not Disney Florida.

I will be happy to visit in a new state. I would even come twice a year to spite Florida.

Florida no longer deserves Disney parks and cruises. They should transfer their existing debt to the state as required, then move from Florida. If Florida wants a non-inclusive state, so be it.

If self-government was removed, then it would be much harder to hide all infrastructure. If the infrastructure was no longer hidden, then the magic would be gone, and Disney could end up looking like a run-of-the-mill theme park. Walt Disney prevailed over bean counters in his mission to create magic. If bean counters now hold more sway than the keepers of Disney’s magic, then Disney could be forced to stay and die in Florida.

  75. GET OVER YOURSELF DISNEY YOU SUCK

I think they should Re-Name the Parks, I don’t believe in my heart that Walt would approve of 95% of the changes nowadays. Breaks my heart, we grew up watching the Wonderful World of Disney every Sunday night. Wholesome Decent shows back then. AND….. Firing Johnny Depp was a HUGE MISTAKE!!!!! How dare they become judge and jury of a case that’s STILL running. Johnny Depp WAS AND IS CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW, he cannot be replaced…. This is NOT the Disney that we USED to LOVE.

how is it ok for REP to bash twitter etc for “restricting free speech or conservative viewpoints” then turn around and punish a business because they don’t 100% share your religious ideology?? how is it any different??

it is all a matter of perspective.

Rep and Dem both lost their minds.

until this country gets true middle leadership we are screwed.

don’t like disney? then here is an idea don’t go there or purchase anything from them and don’t worry about others who choose to support them. And maybe don’t let disney raise your kids, unplug them from the digital babysitter and be a parent.

don’t agree with abortion? don’t get an abortion.

don’t agree with baptist? don’t go to a baptist church.

politicians are just weaponizing talking points and dog whistles for votes. both dem and rep.
