Well that team member deserves a raise. I’ve been at Universal many times during the pandemic when masks were required everywhere and they were VERY lacking in enforcement of the rules. Disney did a great job, Universal looked the other way. Guests get ANGRY when told to follow the rules, so it can’t be easy to be one of the few employees trying to enforce them.
In November 2020 (actually on my birthday, in Studios Orlando), a grown man verbally assaulted me and followed me to the bathroom after I asked his son to pull his mask up if he was going to be breathing all over me, so I am glad to hear that Universal began taking the policy more seriously. It should be on Universal to maintain a safe environment. (I obviously complained to management, less by choice and more because someone sawing me bawling my eyes out scared of a grown man following me to a women’s bathroom — they took it seriously and gave me fast passes for my next time at the park as an AP, but they have absolutely no way of following up via cameras according to what I was told)
Tweets, tik tok videos, reddit posts, etc Without social media this “news” site would dry up and wither on the vine with 24 hours. The only thing left to post would be press releases from Universal or Disney.
There are signs that instruct riders to put phones away. Some rides even have lockers. Its not the job of universal crew to baby sit these adults and tell them to put them away. The rides are adults and do as the sign says. The riders need to be held responsible for their actions. If their phone is lost or broken its on the riders. Id be more mad at the sorry excuse of a rider who is holding up the ride for not listening
From what I read, the man was not on the ride, but filming his wife on it, so I don’t get why the team member was so pissy about that! Is there signage up that specifically says you can’t record the ride from outside of it?
I think the team member said that, because if you drop your phone, one it will break and two, if the cup goes over it, something can happen, I don’t know if the second one is true, but it could be
Yes, I cannot stand it when people have phones out on fast rides that could be dangerous (I’m looking at you all that have your phone out recording your experience on rides like Test Trak. I don’t need your phone to hit me in the face). However, this sounds like they were telling guests waiting in line or even outside tge ride to put phones away, which if true, then it is ridiculous. Though I doubt it is true because I was just at Universal and was constantly looking at my phone in line along with everyone else and no one was told that. Also, why are comparing this to masks? When there are mask mandates in place make sure to wear them properly or don’t go. Lastly, let’s stop taking about mask mandates now as they have been completely lifted at both Universal and Disney. It was absolutely wonderful going this year and not having to wear them so I’ll say the same thing to others. Big you feel uncomfortable being there without mask mandates then don’t go.
The thing about storm force is that people lean it stand against the fence separating the ride and the guest, so if they drop there phone it could break and maybe something will happen to one of multiple of the cups on the ride, so if the guest is leaning or bear the fence, I guess they don’t want to risk that the phone will drop and something will happen to the ride
Comments for Universal Team Member Allegedly Threatens Guests Over Phone Usage

Sounds like the team member from MIB that made it her mission to do nothing but make people pull their mask over their nose back in early February.
Chris Wood
Sounds like the team is doing their jobs. But its not their responsibility to baby sit adults.

Sounds like they were doing their job. Good work UO Team!

As the “title only” guy it shocks me that a Uni team member said they were going to beat a guest up over using their phone on a ride!

These articles are all written based on a few tweets….that become news.

It is not about a team member threatening to beat up a person, they were going to stop the ride.

The Team Member was obviously speaking to someone ON the ride and Mr. Paranoid thought they were talking to him.

Meant to say if people lean or stand.

This is not a strange incident, if you already know you are not allowed to have your phone out during storm force. 🤦♀
