I heard you are thinking or at least polling pass holders about instituting a reservation system like Disney has. I think the reservation system would be a fatal mistake. But I have a different idea, make all rides/attractions on a virtual line system but not the same virtual line system you have now that is very limited to getting in the line on a short time frame. Instead, tie the virtual line into the Universal App. You can have a kiosk that scans a QR code in the app that will let you know when your time to arrive back for your ride so people can go explore other areas of the park (kind of like the Tapu Tapu system you have in Volcano Bay; the guest can walk up to the kiosk, scan the code, enter the number in party and the app will tell them the timeframe to return). The app should also take into account if the guest has an express pass to let them in the line even earlier (just a thought). If guests do not want to get the app, they can wait in the stand by line for the hour long or longer wait (it might encourage more app use). The current virtual line you have (or had) was very hard to get into. You had to open the link the very moment it was available and heaven help you if you made a hesitation if you got in or had to change the number in your party size cause all the slots were gone.
So many people are switching to Universal now because of Disney’s reservations and other stuff. It’s nice to be spontaneous and decide to drive to Universal for a few days.
If Universal adds a Reservation system between now and a scheduled trip there this summer! The day they announce it will be the same day I cancel my Trip!
This would suck if they required reservations. We live an hour away and sometimes decide to go to the parks last minute. We don’t always plan ahead on what days we will be going to the parks.
If they get a reservation system, then they need to get Disney’s refund policy. Not being able to refund tickets even with a package is bs. I’m not buying my tickets until closer to the date of my vacation due to this. So I need to be able to get my money back if a spot can now open up for another guest to pay.
Please don’t go the way Disney has it ruined the magic of the parks people are on vacation they don’t like to be on a ruinteen there life is on a schedule everyday I won’t go back to Disney as long the park has to be scheduled I’ve been going to Disney for the last 7yrs I’ve started to go to universal I coming back this fall you want to get up in the morning and just decide what you want to do
I am one of Many Season passholders and I would absolutely Hate it if Universal adopts these practices. Keep things exactly as they are. If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it.
Very bad idea to implement Disney system at Universal. Seven of us are visiting in June and Universal will be our park of choice because of Disney’s reservation mandates. Enough is enough of the control games!
Please don’t Universal!! Reservations suck!!! The only reason it’s crazy busy right now is because of the stupid spring breakers!! Soon they will be gone and things will get back to normal
They know it is because of spring break that is why they extended their hours, and also they are just asking the pass holders what they think and what they would prefer.
I would absolutely HATE it if you require reservations! I like to go whenever I get a chance do to my schedule, I wouldn’t be able to spend a day there if you switch to reservations. As it was said earlier If it isn’t broke don’t fix it
We’ve been going to Disney every year since 2004, then with our kids since 2012. Now with the reservation system, that stopped our ability to go. If Universal picks up that idea, then they might as well start seeing less people. No one wants to make reservations to places they were able to go to at the last minute. The idea of the parks was spontaneous planning. The entire state of Florida might as well start making people have reservations just to entire there.
Good grief I hope universal does not jump on the Disney bandwagon of reservations. It’s nice to just wander and show up after 4 PM To ride rides simply because we wanted to.
I hope they don’t consider doing this. I’m a passholder and live 2 hours away. I love the fact that I can wake up and decide to go to the parks. Universal is my life and is the only thing I have that keep me sane. Please don’t do this
I will turn in my annual pass if Universal adopts a reservation system. Visits to theme parks are supposed to be fun, not hard work. I honestly don’t believe Disney when they say they are not going back to “full capacity” when seeing pics of current crowd levels. The reservation system is a way to artificially create demand, manipulate attendance numbers, and limit annual passholder visitors.
Had always had annual Disney passes til they went to reservations. That ruined the spontaneity of just getting up and going whenever. Now have passes to Universal and love being able to go whenever we like. Please don’t change to reservations!.
Doesn’t work. Disney has complete control and they are overcrowded no matter what they say. Please do not put the same thing in place. It is what sets you apart from Disney and that’s a great thing.
I personally think that is why they are so crowded. By creating a reservation system they have also created a non existent supply problem. People think they can’t just show up whenever so they hurry to make reservations and then go. Left to the way it was before I doubt it would be so crowded (outside of traditionally busy times)
No. Don’t do park reservations. We are Florida resident passholders and enjoy the flexibility of going when and as often as we want. Also, the weather does influence decisions as to what day or even what time is best to go to Universal.
May need reservations for the new Universal Park due to open in a few years as demand will be crazy as Disney are losing customers but leave IOA and Universal Studios alone !
No don’t do it. I love coming to Universal. Used to do disney and Universal. Now with disney all sucks. We are coming from Texas just to do Universal in December 2022. Keep it the like it is please.
Please don’t adopt the same system as Disney! We have a trip scheduled to be back this summer and would hate to have to alter it any way. The Disney reservation system is a nightmare to navigate, as we also have that scheduled. Please don’t Universal!
Please do not follow Disney on this! As a FL Resident Passholder this would be awful. You weathered the early stages of the pandemic beautifully without having a reservation system and gained my entire family as new passholders because you didn’t follow Disney on this path.
I really hope this doesn’t happen. My family just started doing Universal trips last year instead of Disney due to the reservation system they put in place. We have 2 trips planned this year, and I don’t wanna drive 16 hours from Ohio just to have the experience ruined by reservations that are truly unnecessary. You’ve become more magical than Disney don’t ruin that.
Please DO NOT go the same route as Disney. Many long time Disney goers are now so disappointed with thier new reservation system. Certainly has lost the magic and Universal is far more enjoyable , keep the parks the way they are.
DON’T DO IT!! OMG!! We have a family trip planned for my daughter’s birthday this summer. Will you be refunding money for tickets already purchased if you cancel our special day? Disappointing families not a good way to go!!
We were going to Disney once or twice a year since 2010. In the last 2 years we’ve skipped Disney and we go to Universal instead. If Universal does this, we’ll try Dollywood. Don’t do it Universal.
Absolutely not. The WDW process completely takes the fun out of family vacationing. Please Universal Orlando do not do this. There is a reason why we book with you over WDW. Don’t destroy that.
Reservations have been a disaster for Disney. People are flocking to Universal partly due to the Reservation system. Why in the world would Universal want to emulate any of the disastrous things that are turning Disney fans Off? Universal has a good thing going. Why fix what ain’t broke. Sure wish I’d gotten that particular survey!
I ended my annual passes with Disney after 15 years because of there reservations requirements. Please Universal don’t consider reservations for your parks. My family and I just purchased annual passes.
We’re switching from Disney to Universal annual pass this year, and one of the major factors is the asinine park reservation system. Universal Studios, please don’t see anything positive about anything Disney Parks had done under the helm of Bob “Cheap”ek. Keep doing things exactly the way you have been: putting your guests first and foremost.
No! No park reservations! It’s awful at Disney… and because of all of their ridiculous rules Universal is now my favorite…. the same opinion seems to be repeating itself in these comments hopefully they listen,
Comments for Universal Reportedly Considers Requiring Park Reservations

God I hope Universal Studios does not adopt anything Disney does.

All Disney Policies have done is made it to where our family wont go. We recently turned down free tickets to Disney.
We have universal passes and if they reimplement old policies or adopt these new ones, we will not return.
Lisa
I hate the Disney reservation system. Unuversal is our new go to park(s). Please Universal don’t follow Disney’s lead they are off the rails.
Toni
Very bad idea to implement Disney system at Universal. Seven of us are visiting in June and Universal will be our park of choice because of Disney’s reservation mandates. Enough is enough of the control games!

Limit the reservations to sit down restaurants like Mythos, keep it away from everything else.

Please do not do this universal! Disney is shooting themselves in the foot. No one wants the experience to become a pain in the rear.
Jonetta

No flexibility is key when arranging park visits plans change as does the weather and people need to be free to plan accordingly

When I asked universal Orlando about reservations, I was told no reservations ever needed
Chris Kinney
Hopefully all the responses were to stuff that reservation system nonsense in the garbage!
Mark
How would this work when the Hogwarts express lets you travel between two of the different parks?
Tamra Ondesko
Please don’t ! I’m annual pass holder with Universal we don’t even try to go Disney because of reservations
Kathleen
No way. Disney needs to get rid of it as well
Brenda

NO. We Pray Universal does not adapt to this horrible policy.
We didn’t like it when we went to Disney and guess what we came back to Universal this year instead with a 2nd trip booked later this year.
It’s a horrible concept for park guest that are forced to decide in advance what park to go to over multiple days.
If your system isn’t broke. Why change it to the Mouses thinking??? Doesn’t mean it’s right, or the grass is greener on the other side.
Mark
Absolutely not. The WDW process completely takes the fun out of family vacationing. Please Universal Orlando do not do this. There is a reason why we book with you over WDW. Don’t destroy that.

Big mistake. We came back to Universal in 2020, but will definitely drop our annual passes if they make this change.
