It is the ring tone on my iPhone. I also have the dvd which I purchased from Europe. Always loved this movie and I don’t see anything negative about it.
I agree with you Meg, there is nothing wrong with the song. And to Phil who claims that if yli learn it you repeat it. You are sp far from the truth. Destroying history is WHU IT’S REPEATED DUH
You are correct, no bad language, racial terms just a fun song. Wait, let’s change history and have everyone (including nations) hold hands, smile and skip. I was taught if you did learn from it, you are bound to repeat it.
Phil – not saying you are a COMPLETE moron, but when you portray circumstances as “black slaves were simply singing and dancing down on the plantations, with bluebirds on their shoulders, telling happy, glorious little stories to white children” — THAT is changing history. Slaves were treated like human garbage, beaten and often killed just for being black slaves. Wake up, and stop being an idiot all your life.
Breaks my heart.. Literally breaks my heart they decided to cave. I just don’t get it. Some of these songs that absolutely target and crush Caucasian/Asian ect are allowed to be blared at the local Y, and Poolside at resorts all over the Country, and everyone turns a blind eye.. the definition Double standards
They think a song that is decades old is now rascist? To whom? Has Diseny ever seen the videos for what passes as hip hop music these days? Has Disney heard what passes for music these day? The horror of it all if somebody finds something rascist. Now the whole world has to,stop spinning because of one or two people.
Nobody is CHANGING history, you idiot. But there’s no reason to continue celebrating all the GOOD OLE DAYS of black slaves down on the plantation picking cotton getting beaten and treated like barely-human crap, and now, today, jazzing it up Disney-style and pretending it was joyous and fun and slaves singing with bluebirds on their shoulders. ForF***Sake. Pull your head out!!
Slaves, huh? The film takes place during Reconstruction? Familiar with that period in history? Funny how you can (quite aggressively, I might add) imply other people are ignorant on this thread when you know absolutely nothing about the film (aside from what you’ve determined from the ramblings in your echo chamber). Become a little more knowledgeable about the subject, then get back to us. Until then, my evil self will keep saving some money to get to Disney World at least one more time before the cancel mob takes away the most popular ride at Magic Kingdom.
John – not saying you are a COMPLETE moron, but when you portray circumstances as “black slaves were simply singing and dancing down on the plantations, with bluebirds on their shoulders, telling happy, glorious little stories to white children” — THAT is changing history. Slaves were treated like human garbage, beaten and often killed just for being black slaves. Wake up, and stop being an idiot all your life.
I haven’t seen the movie in its entirety for at least 50 yrs. But the song is not racist. The video accompanying the song on things like ‘sing-along songs’ videos does show a white boy and an af-am man. So my question is: is it more racist to think a fair skinned kid could or could not have a darker skinned uncle. I would think that inclusive minds would welcome the integration. Maybe someone is trying too hard to be colorblind. I don’t think that someone is me.
Ann – not saying you are a COMPLETE moron, but when you portray circumstances as “black slaves were simply singing and dancing down on the plantations, with bluebirds on their shoulders, telling happy, glorious little stories to white children” — THAT is changing history, and you have NO IDEA what cancel culture means. You are a fool. Slaves were treated like human garbage, beaten and often killed just for being black slaves. Wake up, and stop being an idiot all your life.
Five bucks sez you are back at Disney within a month. Also, if not hearing one of thousands of Disney songs “angers” you, you don’t have enough going on in your life.
On the contrary Those of us who have left Disney have left becuase of a ton of reasons. I am a stockholder, former cast member and collector I willl never sert foot in a park again. What Disney now advocatesa and represents is crap. Liberals ruin everything.
I think this is a joke. An Academy Award song that is full of happiness, nothing racial and the same goes for the movie, we have the DVD. This Biden has change everything that never bothered people before and shame on Disney for falling for this boloney. Walt created movies and the theme parks for families to enjoy and spread his happiness, now all destroyed by this loser in the WH.
Disney decided well before President Biden took office to change Splash Mountain. The White House has nothing to do with Disney’s decisions. It is correct to say that those running the Company now are destroying Walt’s dreams because a few choice groups want their 15 minutes of fame which is really 15 minutes of shame. It is a wonderful movie that I wish I had a coy of it. Not one darn thing in it is racist. In fact the ride only has the animal characters, no humans at all. I met Mr. Disney when i was a little boy right there in front of the fire station. He reached out and shook my small hand and with the wink of his eye told me to have a wonderful day. never did he create anything to be racist or inappropriate. He also never blamed the White House for anything which sets an example for us.
Do your own research, Deb. Post-abolition and the many years of Reconstruction were even more violent and deadly for blacks. It was the time that lowlife southern christian conservatives, so full of hate, brought us the KKK and all the terrorism and lynchings of blacks. But you would rather have people believe that true history was this nonsense, because it makes YOU feel good about the actual disgusting, violent history driven by christians and their incessant hatred of anyone different.
Absolutely insane! There’s nothing wrong with that song. What’s really bad is how Disney continues to pander to the most left and non-family values in this country.
Nice try but you keep dreaming that it is the right and not the left wing kook fringe that is not the probem. They have ruined NFL footbal, NBA basketball, Disney, Movies, TV the list goes on and on. But you keep living in fantaasyland – and that aint the one in the magic kingdom
This is the kind of low effort, low risk ‘activism’ I’d expect from a virtue signaling bubble head. Eating BS out of the hand of The Mouse’s PR department, defecating that BS out twice as fast on the keyboard, scooping it up into a big enough mound, and dressing that mound up as your straw man. Too bad you don’t have the wits to tackle real civil rights issues, like voter suppression. Sitting at a desk and cheering Disney for beating a dead horse they struck from their film vaults ages ago is more your speed.
The only reason people are here talking about it is because of all the right-wingers whining over a song, and what they feel is their right to be hateful lowlifes.
This has more to do with corporations kissing whatever ass they think will net them the best PR, and these days it’s the collective buttholes of a bunch of irrational internet warriors who are the proverbial ‘Soloution looking for a problem’. And boy are they looking for anything, no matter what degree of separation there is.
And what pray tell is “racist” about Song of the South or “Zip-a-dee-do-dah”? The lyrics are printed above. I see nothing there. Current music on the radio is more racist and offensive. Are you even old enough to ever have actually seen the movie or are you just regurgitating what you have heard others say? The more you overuse the word and cry “racism” the less power the word has.
The entire song is filled with racist meaning. Have you actually done research on it are just spewing the whyte propaganda of “there’s nothing wrong with this, I grew up with it” instead of actually looking at what the movie is about and how it makes another race feel?
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay, My, oh, my, what a wonderful day. Plenty of sunshine headin’ my way. Your saying these words are racist? What’s wrong with you?
This movie takes place after the war. And I don’t see anything racist in song. You might want to know what Floyd Norman said about the movie. His wife was really against until showed the movie to her and she agreed it wasn’t racist. By the way, Floyd is black and was an animator for the company for years.
It was a total rewriting of history and the reason it is so appealing to those who claim they’re not racist (but hold a reverence for Confederate statues ) is that it portrays African-Americans as being happy being subservient. The same folks who don’t want their kids learning about the evils of slavery and Jim Crow are the ones crying over the removal of Song of the South. The song is not a reflection of history. People working in the fields and denied equality weren’t happy.Racists loved Colin Powell too until he pointed out racism.
Oh – well… Floyd Norman’s wife said it isn’t racist – well, that settles it! All we need now is for the white supremacist Orange Emperor to agree, and we can all have a party.
Hmmmmm. Made up words followed by an optimistic outlook towards the futures. Yep, that’s some hardcore racism right there. *eye roll* There is more racism in the way you spelled the word “whyte” then there is in any kind of interpretation of the song “Zip-a-dee-do-dah” You need some serious psychological help, Amanda.
Oh give me a break! If you’re talking about “Zip Coon”, let me just cut you off now. Zip Coon sounds absolutely NOTHING like Zip A Dee Doo Dah! In fact Zip Coon uses the melody of Turkey In The Straw..the same melody that Steamboat Willy whistles! You wanna cancel Mickey too?!
Always has to be some Liberal nut with TDS to bring Trump into a discussion that has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with him. Congrats Phyllis, today you are that nut. Now take your asinine off topic politics and go.
Why not – you morons have been whining about Biden in several of the posts already. May as well bring up the whore-buying Orange Emperor and all the conspiracy nonsense that he’s gotten YOU clueless idiots to swallow.
Wow Amanda! Maybe if you would read the lyrics instead of listening to racist comments and claims others are making you could ENJOY Walt’s wholesome movie. Quit worrying about skin color (or lack there of). Wake up in the morning and look at who you are not who others tell you who you are. Not once have I EVER looked in the mirror and saw a color. Instead I see a person who has control over my destiny and who and what I want and need to be. I don’t approach the day with hate and a lame excuse to be mad at the world. I make who I am by what I contribute positively to Society. You need to quit looking at “race” and start contributing as a human being like we all are. You will be much happier.
Caved in to the cry baby Libs — whats funny is Disney keeps siding with the very very small part of our society who scream like they have been damaged while the rest of us just go on with our day. BUNCH OF BABIES hahahahahaha
You hit the nail on the head here. They keep catering to those of whom are too busy “protesting”, crying about how unfair the wages are for the uneducated, and generally just causing chaos to actually have JOBS. So, who will be left to pay to get into these parks that have been converted for those sissies? In the end, the only ones that will be able to afford to go to the Disney Parks are the ones that Disney is continually pushing away with all of this bullsh!t!
Hmm, wonder if there’s a common thread between that and all the fights happening at the parks nowadays? Well, there’s that and all the high class crowds that came in with all them stimulus bucks.
Walt Disney was a genius. We should honor his memory and his brilliant creations and collaborations. Next they will eliminate the Hall of Presidents! This “ wokeness” and pandering to it is erasing history. We should learn from history’s mistake not repeat it. Clearly not obvious as Biden pursues oil deals with Iran and Venezuela. Enough! Let the libertards be the only ones to support Disney theme parks. I guarantee they will be singing “Zip a dee do da” after one week of lost revenue. See how few of them really exist in America!
And you were whining to have it removed. I wonder if your parents covered you in bubblewrap before they let you go outside as a kid. You betas are too soft.
I’m sorry, but I think its ridiculous. All the butthurt crybabies with nothing better to do can just avoid the ride and parade. I loved the movie when I was a kid. I think of it as a classic, same as Gone With the Wind. It was a movie about a specific time period. Everyone trying to change everything about past history needs to focus more on changing the current state of the country.
More liberal BS. First off, how many people even know about the movie? They complain that it happily depicts slavery but it actually is set in the post slavery Reconstruction period. Second, Uncle Remus is telling old African- American fables, so the movie actually helps to preserve that culture. Third, the whole message of the Brer Rabbit story is that you can’t run away from your problems – what is controversial or negative about that?! I say leave both the song and the ride alone. Don’t give in to ignorance.
Isn’t it ironic that the Brer Rabbit story is about not running away from your problems/acting like they dont exist and Disney is trying to do just that by retheming a classic ride and taking a song out of a parade.
“All the butthurt crybabies with nothing better to do can just avoid the ride and parade.” Indeed, all these right-wing racist crybabies should just STFU, because they’ll never know which songs are being swapped out during a parade anyway.
Please show me or explain any racial content or remarks that are offensive in that song. Leave it to the largest most prejudice (NAACP) organization in the United States to make Disney cave to removing this.
CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN NEVER EVEN HEARD OF THIS CARTOON. PRINCESS AND THE FROG IS LIKE MATING SEASON BETWEEN blm and NAT. ASS. ADV. COLORED PEOPLES..
It only takes one or two angry, bitter right-wing morons to make the point everyone else already makes. Ah, The South. They keep proving that Disney made the right choice….
Punishing the present for how the past once was doesn’t make sense. I don’t think it’s wrong to have something from that time period posted anywhere. As humans today should know that is now how it is today. We can’t erase the past by taking out the physical reminders. We need those to learn where we came from and what we grew into
Indeed – not like these racist, right-wing lowlifes will even know which songs are being played in any parade going by inside the parks… They’re still upset about their precious, traitorous Robert E Lee statues… go figure.
Paycheck playing politics again. You know, the ones he says Disney is neutral about.
If he actually watched that movie, he would realize there is a good message to the film.
It’s the, everything is wrong, woke society, that has an issue with the film.
Sadly, The current leadership at Disney has once again missed the point by attempting to please those of a victim based ideology. This is not the Disney I love and although short sighted on the part of Disney they are not in charge of me:) Until I return to Disney World and especially on that day I will continue to sing loud and proud. Zippity Doo Dah Zippity Day my my my what a wonderful way”
My wife and I have decided to sell our DVC membership…Disney has gone way to woke for us,plus it has become way too expensive. They have taken away the few perks they gave us like Magical Express and free magic bands, they no longer offer meal plans,no fast passes, and now this silly crap. Someone once said Everything Woke turns to $hit! And sadly it’s true. RIP Disney…you had a good run…but for us it’s over!
I will miss Dave, and my love for Uncle Remus is BECAUSE of this wonderful movie and song. Walts vision is not being honored, and Uncle Remus would be ashamed of the way his “kinfolk” are acting. My daughters love of African Americans is BECAUSE of Uncle Remus!!!
Frustrating! The song is simple, happy and makes no racist remarks anywhere. There are so many other songs (not Disney) that send far worse messages! No one is banning those?
I guess I am to old to understand. May I please ask what is the offensive part about that song? I have never seen the movie, is bluebird a code word for something else? Or is zip, etc.?? Please explain. Ty.
The song comes from what has been labeled an offensive movie. Back when Song of the South was released the major complaint was that it didn’t make clear that the time setting was Reconstruction when slaves were freed. The assumption was that it was showing a movie about slaves and not a Freedmen. Now to the next issue. The Uncle Remus stories were based African American folklore. Now to me it is somewhat of a preservation of that culture. Those stories represented a way that slaves dealt with their life. The problem with those stories is that they were published by a white person and written in the vernacular, meaning that words were written out as an African American might say them at that time. Some people thought that it was offensive.
When Joel Chandler Harris decided to write down the stories he did so at a time that would have been near impossible for black people to do that themselves unfortunately. He also copied them down from the people who told them to him as well – instead of white washing it he kept the same the dialect of the originated stories. There is an Uncle Remus museum in Georgia, a worker was outspoken there about there being t wrong with Splash Mountain. The stories should be preserved.
If anything Disney has hurt themselves with how they handled this. I have said it before They should have released the film on Disney plus – have a panel before the film full of historians of the restoration period, film historian, actors like Whoopi Goldberg who had been outspoken about it being released, etc to discuss the issues both good and bad with the film. There is nothing bad in this film that you can’t find worse in many other films being made even today. A dialogue would educate both sides and take away the taboo nature of this film. James Baskett being the first black male actor to get an academy award (Disney petitioning and the academy giving him an honorary one – which was well deserved), legendary Hattie McDaniel singing, and stories that actually teach good lessons. If anything the poor white family is shown in horrible light in this film – those boys were horrible.
I also have no issue with Princess and the frog – it’s a great film. I find it funny though that Disney & fans want to replace anything to do with song of the south – which has actual black American history in it – to replace it with a white woman’s fairy tale from Europe.
You mean to tell me that REAL history is – black slaves on plantations were treated like human garbage, beaten, even killed, just for being black slaves — and they DIDN’T just dance and sing-along all day long with bluebirds on their shoulders and tell little white kids stories while signing, dancing and laughing?
And WHO is changing history???
Just a load of right-wing Trump idiocy at its finest. Yeah, let’s pretend your idiocy and stupid portrayals are REAL history, right up there with all the statues in the south that celebrate Traitors and try to make traitors into heroes.
Phyllis her she should go check yourself and what time. This is actually sudden, the restoration. Do you like them in here one of the people that need to be educated on the subject.
Also calm yourself, not everything is political – you are just as bad as the side you claim to hate with the the manner you are holding yourself in on here. Take a breath, take a step back and reevaluate – use the internet for good not to add extra negative toxic energy.
Typical Liberalism. Bury your heads in the sand while trying to erase anything YOU deem is “offensive”. Acting like things never happened instead of educating people on why those things are wrong. The Left says they want a dialogue with the Right but their actions say anything but. BTW Can any of you Liberals out there please tell me EXACTLY what is racist and/or offensive about that song?
Hey Dummy. It never did happen that way! Black slaves on plantations were treated like human garbage, beaten, even killed, just for being black slaves — and they DIDN’T just dance and sing-along all day long with bluebirds on their shoulders and tell little white kids stories while signing, dancing and laughing…
WHO is trying to change history??? Get an education.
“Acting like things never happened instead of educating people on why those things are wrong.” People are here explaining to you why these things are wrong, Kevin. But you hateful, racist lowlifes can’t (or won’t) listen because the truth makes your little tummy upset. Go figure!
What is racist or offensive about it? It comes from the portrayal that the educated people on this comment string are describing to you. REAL history is – black slaves on plantations were treated like human garbage, beaten, even killed, just for being black slaves — and they DIDN’T just dance and sing-along all day long with bluebirds on their shoulders and tell little white kids stories while signing, dancing and laughing…
And you idiots sit here claiming and pointing the finger at others for trying to change history?? I mean, seriously, it’s astounding how stupid your own hatred has made you…
I have never heard of one person who was listening to it think it was racist. It is a great song. The past is the past. We can learn from it but not if we erase it.
It’s NOT the past, Kevin!
Nonsense. This is exactly the point. You people claim others are trying to CHANGE HISTORY, and comments like this one show, clearly, that you don’t even know what REAL HISTORY is… Post-abolition and the many years of Reconstruction were even more violent and deadly for blacks. It was the time that lowlife southern christian conservatives, so full of hate, brought us the KKK and all the decades and decades of violence, terrorism and lynchings of blacks. But you would rather have people believe that true history was this “bluebird on your shoulder, singing and dancing” nonsense, because it makes YOU feel good about the actual disgusting, violent history driven by christians and their incessant hatred of anyone different.
I’m saying you won’t find common sense in conservative christians. In fact, it’s the hate-filled, racist posts that are coming from christians. As usual.
IM FURIOUS. THERE IS NOTHING IN THOSE LYRICS THAT HURTS ANYONE. PEOPLE CLAIM SONG OF THE SOUTH IS RACIST AND PRINCESS AND THE FROG ISINT?
In the beginning TIANA is playing with her white little friend who has every princess dress available and wants more? TIANA’s mom is making her dresses but can’t afford to do the same for TIANA then travels back to the poorer neighbourhood to make gumbo. And this is not stereotyping ? It’s frustrating as HE🏒🏒.
Such a carefree song the emotes joy and happiness and to enjoy the sunshine and nature.
It’s NOT history, Barb! It never happened that way!
Americans need to stop rewriting history to cover up their ancestors horrendous mistakes of buying and selling and enslaving human beings. It doesn’t make it go away people
No but they kept slavery in place past the time when other countries had outlawed it.
The problem being the South was an agrarian economy which could not have survived without a major shift in their business practices if they did not have free labor.
The North having a greater industrial advantage was able to convert inputs at a greater degree with the south providing some of those inputs.
Greed and avarice has unfortunately been dovetail with the history of the United States. Much has not changed since we have still baked in systemic racism within many aspects of American society.
Not to mention the last four years which allowed for a reversal race relations by stoking ignorance and fears of undereducated and low
Information voters.
Lastly, racism is a tool of colonialism and in this case use by a minority to keep people arguing over race rather the real problem which is class.
So please explain to me the “Colonialism” that is taking place in Africa right now where tribes are still enslaving other tribes. Seems they are carrying on what other countries have done away with over a century ago. BTW. Slavery was happening in Africa before the white man showed up. FYI
Top 10 Countries with the Highest Prevalence of Modern Slavery (by total number of slaves) – Global Slavery Index 2018:
India – 7,989,000
China – 3,864,000
North Korea – 2,640,000
Nigeria – 1,386,000
Iran – 1,289,000
Indonesia – 1,220,000
Congo (Democratic Republic of) – 1,045,000
Russia – 794,000
Philippines – 784,000
Afghanistan – 749,000
Did she say Americans were the ONLY PEOPLE to do that? No. She didn’t. So, why lie to just make a stupid argument? Does pointing your finger away and saying “other people did it, too” make you feel better about our past? That is the act of a coward.
This world is too WOKE! I will never return to Disney. It’s time to teach our kids our real history, good and bad. How else do you prevent the same mistakes if you erase it ? Show everything to pevent it and stop being so offended by our past!
Good. Take your screaming little kiddies to Six Flags. Nobody will miss you at DW. Now will they miss this song with all the other Disney songs that rouse the parks.
If your children think YOU will teach them REAL history, they’ll be idiots like daddy when they grow up. What is represented by that song and movie is NOT HISTORY. It never happened that way!
The stupidest and most kiss ass appease whining glass dolls move Disney has done. The movie isn’t anything the way haters make it to be and the riders only connection to the movie are three characters. Disney needs to stop bending over backwards for crybabies and focus on the actual grown ups who know the difference between blatant racism and the made up fairytale version these brats are crying out over. This is really getting old.
What is represented by that song and movie is NOT HISTORY, Dell. It never happened that way!
OH MY! THOSE OFFENSIVE LYRICS! – Singing of sunshine and wonderful days – THE HORROR!
Josh D needs to grow some guts. The song won the Academy Award for best song – the first winning song to be sung by a minority. A wonderful performance by James Baskett now swept aside.
LOL, the article title was cut off, so when I saw the capital letters BREAKING NEWS!!! Disney world officially removes…
I TOTALLY thought it was going to say… Reservations. HAHAHA.
I should have known better.
This Karen/Troll of a “journalist” is apparently just waiting around the parks with a magnifying glass to see what detail she can spot and IMMEDIATELY pan it as “emergency breaking news” to the trigger-ready public whos just waiting to lash out about Disney removing a snippet of a song, or a word from a row boat, or one animatronic from a ride. What an embarrassment this writer is, who gets her kicks from doing this for a living.
This is ridiculous! Yes, some people might equate the song with the movie and all its controversy, but those who are too young to even KNOW about the movie (and those not so close-minded) see the song as a happy , hopeful one! Are we going to ban peoples’ emotions now, too?? Some songs playing on the radio and off of albums are more controversial than this! Worse, they garner awards and accolades!!
This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard! How is this song racist! This is getting so out of hand! What about all of the other people who want to hear this song!
So fed up!
I grew up watching Song of the South. It was cute and I don’t consider it racist. As a kid I saw a kindly gentleman telling tall tales that featured a rabbit. That was my takeaway. Just my impression/memory. Peace to all!
You are missing the motive. This move is ALL about taking the heat off Disney Corp and their CEOs from the leftist gay activists screeching about their Anti-Parental rights movement by causing more imagineered racism between blacks and whites.
Everytime leftists start losing an argument they create a diversion.
Anti-parental rights movement? The right sure can spin things.
And it’s not engineered racism that creates division, it’s all you racist hillbillies who don’t even attempt to look at things from other perspectives. Disney isn’t removing Zippidie Do Da because of the lyrics, it’s removing it because it’s associated with a movie viewed today as racist. It might not seem racist to the sister-f%^kers from Georgia or Alabama, but that doesn’t mean it’s not offensive to people.
I feel like this comments section is a reunion for the Jan 6th insurrection clowns. I laugh too that any of you think Disney will miss you.
Song of the South is a great musical 🎶 song which millions of American children white or black enjoyed while growing up. Instead of trying to erase the past we need to learn from it. Adapting the park to new ideas is fantastic but quit labeling it racism as it only takes a few to ruin it for others. Whoever shouts the loudest gets heard but the smaller ones get overlooked.
Imagineering more racism to relieve pressure on Disney Corp. and their CEOs from the screeching from leftist gay activists up in arms over a parental rights bill.
Also, to distract from the losing, immoral, unfounded, ridiculous arguments made by the leftist gay activists. Everytime a leftist loses an argument a distraction WILL be invented. The name calling didn’t work, they don’t have facts, logic or morality on their side so they will go back to race baiting as usual, it’s always worked before.
FYI: James Baskett (February 16, 1904 – July 9, 1948) was an American actor known for his portrayal of Uncle Remus, singing the song “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah” in the 1946 Disney feature film Song of the South. In recognition of his warm portrayal of the famous black storyteller he was given an Honorary Academy Award, making him the first black male performer to receive an Oscar.
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
My, oh, my, what a wonderful day
Plenty of sunshine headin’ my way
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay!
Mister Bluebird’s on my shoulder
It’s the truth, it’s “actch’ll” Everything is “satisfactch’ll”
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
Wonderful feeling, wonderful day!
Yes, sir Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
My, oh, my, what a wonderful day
Plenty of sunshine headin’ my way
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay!
Mister Bluebird’s on my shoulder
It’s the truth, it’s “actch’ll” Everything is “satisfactch’ll”
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
Wonderful feeling, feeling this way!
Mister Bluebird’s on my shoulder
It is the truth, it’s “actch’ll”, hm?
Where is that bluebird? Everything is “satisfactch’ll”
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
Wonderful feeling, wonderful day!
This is really sad. I believe the 2 new fireworks shows at Epcot and MK were changed to add more “diversity”. The MK one was supposed to celebrate 50 years of WDW, yet opens and features selections from Princess and the Frog and Soul, 2 months movies that currently have zero representation at WDW. Same with Epcot. Zip ah dee do dah is a heart warming positive cheerful song. Sad to see it removed.
This is being out of hand for a while now and has to stop. Changing songs ..Stautes and history for people that was not even born back then and really dont even know what was going back then but yet they own people sold them into slavery .All the protesters that went to the Capital building is in jail but yet not one BLM person was put in jail for what they did to buildings and beating of people cause their while .Wake Up Disney
“Relevant and Inclusive” is code for revising history and excluding truth. Removing Zip-a-dee doo-dah just deprives a new generation of a fun song. Are they going to now scrub “Splash” to remove Tom Hanks’ joyful rendition of the song as well?
I am a huge Disney fan but the company has failed it loyal fans and pandered to the far left nut jobs. These people can have their feeling hurt by other just breathing. The removal of the song eliminates one of the most uplifting song in the Disney vault. Get a life and Disney needs to remember the loyal fans that have built this brand.
How the hell can you delete one of Disney’s theme songs? Other than ‘When You Wish Upon A Star’ it’s THE song everyone knows…I was taught it at pre-school. Ridiculous.
I’m so upset about this. It’s such a wonderful happy song – our family’s favorite. Splash Mountain was also our favorite ride. There was no reason to cancel either. There was nothing offensive about any of it. You’d hear everyone laughing and singing through the ride. This Cancel Culture is ridiculous.
This segment of the parade was always my favorite because of the cheer and warmth it had. It always brought a tear to my eye, especially the rendition of “zip-a-dee-doo-dah”. Now all of the energy has been replaced with barely any cast members and long, awkward pauses where music used to be. I always loved “zip-a-dee-doo-dah” and “when I see an elephant fly”, and it deeply disturbs me to see two incredible songs erased.
When will Disney once again cater to the majority of people rather than the small groups that want to run the parks? I’ve ben going there for over 40 years now. The Splash Mountain was a great attraction that once again a small lot of people wish to change. The song is uplifitng and inspiring. Since the movie that was mentioned was never really put out on a large scale most people don’t even know about it. We just like the song. If you don’t like the song don’t go on the attraction.
What happens if I don’t like the new song and attraction? Will they change it for me, one of the majorty? NOPE
Just like in Trump’s 2020 election results, you guys aren’t the majority. You might think the world revolves around you, but you are wrong.
If you don’t like the new ride, guess what…DIsney won’t care. Now maybe if someone like Rachel Maddow, Hillary, or HUnter Biden have issues they’d tweak it.
This is exactly why Disney needs to get off Twitter.Stop, allowing “Cancel” Culture to run your business.Standing up to the Gov of Florida is smart, but this is just bad management.
Well I predicted something would happen in a couple weeks of it happening again. Was on Splash Mountain a couple of weeks ago singing away to this song and wondered how long it would be before Disney would start getting rid if it at the parks. Doesn’t matter though. Still going to sing and whistle it all the time. I know the movie is a little outdated and can be seen as insensitive, but it’s really not that bad. I always feel bad for the actor playing Uncle Ramus as this probably was his biggest opportunity in his life and people now just want it to disappear. Also, who knew a song about being happy could be so controversial. Proves people just don’t want others to be happy. Again, can’t stop me from singing it and being cheerful “my, oh my, what a wonderful day.”
Ridiculous . It’s a happy song with no references to anything concerning race, stations in life, etc., and many people nowadays don’t even know what movie it was in.
Disney is being ridiculous! There is nothing racist about this song. They should be more concerned about all the unhappy people that have been to Disneyworld. No fast pass, spend lots of money for Genie which is really worthless. They need to concentrate on making their customers happy instead of words to a harmless happy song. Stop trying to be politically correct and keep the song. I am offended that you would remove this song
Do you think anyone, literally one single person, other than your pi$$ed off kids, will care? If so, tell me who on this planet is going to lose sleep that Mary is drawing the line at riding the revised SM?
Splash Mountain and this song were NOT a problem to a very high percentage of the WDW visitors before June 1, 2020. Now, wokers are trying to get everything changed and/or cancelled. Our society ought to cancel them!
Regardless, the real problem is the weak and PC leadership (a term used very loosely) at WDW. They are pitiful.
This is an example of how our society has absolutely lost its mind. Incredible…
What is represented by that song and movie is NOT HISTORY, Tim. It never happened that way!
PATHETIC !!!!! UNCLE RAMUS WAS AN ICON, AND YOU JUST TOOK THAT AWAY FROM HIM !!! NOT TO MENTION, THE SONG THAT WE’VE BEEN SINGING FOR 70 YEARS!!! KEEP LETTING THE WOKERS DICTATE YOUR EVERY MOVE, DISNEY!!! SHAME ON YOU !!!
DONE with Disney Parks. If I took my mom there now she would have a very hard time knowing what’s going on. Unless you have small children who are versed in the latest Pixar movies, you’re out of luck. Disney made their choice, now I’ve made mine.
This is absolutely ridiculous. There is nothing racist about the song or the movie and I cannot believe Disney would remove such an iconic milestone from Splash Mountain and the parade. Splash Mountain was one of my favorite rides just because of the happy songs as you go through. What a shame that this world has become so crazed over this stuff especially over two things that show no racism at all. So sad…..
How many people here has a day at Disneyland? The song should be placed on the sound loop in animal kingdom. A day at Disney land was released in 1971, Disney has no power to pull VHS tapes from Disnelands opening day.
Walt has to be rolling in his grave.
It’s a shame Disney’s bending to this Woke-ism crap!
The Disney customs and traditions went right out the window. If you don’t like the song or film, don’t hear or watch it!
Create your own “WOKE PARK!!!”
Those claiming that it’s racist are the racist ones!
Princess Tiana deserves her own ride and restaurant by retheming Tom Sawyer Island better than retheming Splash Mountain in Frontierland at the Magic Kingdom
#SaveSplashMoutain
Another case of black people trying to rewrite history. They moan, they get what they want. It’s getting quite pathetic. Pity its always black people who have attitudes, talk at the top of their voices in public as if everyone should hear them. The whole black loves matter rubbish is the cause of all this. All lovee matter
You don’t even know what REAL HISTORY is, you idiot. What is represented by that song and movie is NOT HISTORY, “me” — it never happened that way! Black slaves on plantations were treated like human garbage, beaten, even killed, just for being black slaves — and they DIDN’T just dance and sing-along all day long with bluebirds on their shoulders and tell little white kids stories while signing, dancing and laughing… and after abolition and the beginning of Reconstruction, it go even worse, more violent, more killing, more terrorism and lynchings — all thanks to the southern white christian conservatives and the KKK that they created to carry out their hatred and racism. THAT is the real history. Not blacks walking around, singing and dancing with bluebirds on their shoulders while they told sweet, special little stories to white children. THAT is a REWRITE of history.
WHO is trying to change history??? Get an education.
You’re the type of person that if someone told a joke to a group of people at a party, everyone laughs, you would be the only one screaming that it’s offensive, how dare you, everyone gets uncomfortable, everyone is quiet, and you basically sucked the life out of the party. Did you ever hear the words “Make Believe??!!” Also the movie takes place after the American Civil War and abolition of slavery. There are no slaves in the movie. The cast defended the film. Valarie Stewart, the daughter of Nick Stewart who voiced Br’er Bear doesn’t want the ride re-themed. She wants it left alone. Nick Stewart was at the Splash Mountain ride Grand opening premiere. His voice is still on the ride. Is your life that sad??!! You got a problem with a rabbit outsmarting a Fox and Bear?! What’s next, you want to get rid of Haunted Mansion because it’s offensive to dead people?! If you don’t like it, don’t ride it. Stay at home, cry on twitter, and hate the world.
Zip A Dee Doo Dah is a truly great song. This is really getting ridiculous. Fans everywhere are opposed to this and Disney only seems to listen to the few troublemakers.
If Song of the South is racist, why do we still have Roots, Gone with the Wind, Django unchained… these all depict slavery in a negative light. Is it because it is about a white and black positive innocent friendship.
The song in itself is not racist or controversial in ANY way! It is an upbeat, positive song. It is a happy song. It has no color or religion. I personally didn’t even know it came from that movie. Such a sad state the world is in when DISNEY takes away a bit of happiness. SMH
Reading about white people being upset about the removal of racist things is the perfect compliment to my morning coffee. Please… do continue to tell us how the removal of a song tied to a racist movie has ruined Disney for your family. Lol
Apparently you don’t know history. The movie takes place after the American Civil War and abolition of slavery. There are no slaves in the movie. I have African American friends that love splash and think this is ridiculous. Did you even see the movie? It’s about Uncle Remus telling Br’er rabbit tales to kids. He’s viewed as a hero. What’s next, you want to get rid of Haunted Mansion because it’s offensive to dead people?! If you don’t like it, don’t ride it.
Comments for Disney World Officially Removes Splash Mountain Reference From Parade
Joseph Goodman
How stupid you think Disney really is?
Frank
REALLY STUPID. HAPPY CHEERFUL SONG THAT MY CHILDREN LOVED OVER THE YEARS. NOTHING OFFENSIVE ABOUT IT AT ALL.
Clark
Totally agree 💯. I loved uncle Remus. He was an icon. There is nothing racist about the song.
Meg
It is the ring tone on my iPhone. I also have the dvd which I purchased from Europe. Always loved this movie and I don’t see anything negative about it.
Ann
I agree with you Meg, there is nothing wrong with the song. And to Phil who claims that if yli learn it you repeat it. You are sp far from the truth. Destroying history is WHU IT’S REPEATED DUH
axt113
Bunch of white people can’t tell when something is racist…I’m shocked!
kev
why do you have to be a jerk.
Walt
OR THE MOVIE!!
Mike G
Or the movie
Joel
I agree.
Phil
You are correct, no bad language, racial terms just a fun song. Wait, let’s change history and have everyone (including nations) hold hands, smile and skip. I was taught if you did learn from it, you are bound to repeat it.
Ann
Phil, you are wrong, you don’t learn it to repeat it. Grow up. Destroying or canceling history is why you repeat it.
Phyllis Johnson
Phil – not saying you are a COMPLETE moron, but when you portray circumstances as “black slaves were simply singing and dancing down on the plantations, with bluebirds on their shoulders, telling happy, glorious little stories to white children” — THAT is changing history. Slaves were treated like human garbage, beaten and often killed just for being black slaves. Wake up, and stop being an idiot all your life.
Dd
Breaks my heart.. Literally breaks my heart they decided to cave. I just don’t get it. Some of these songs that absolutely target and crush Caucasian/Asian ect are allowed to be blared at the local Y, and Poolside at resorts all over the Country, and everyone turns a blind eye.. the definition Double standards
Bee
Like what 🤦🏻♂️🙄
Bob
I think it’s time people stop buying gifts from Disney And food because prices keep going up on everything and the CEO is just in it for the money.
Chris Wood
They think a song that is decades old is now rascist? To whom? Has Diseny ever seen the videos for what passes as hip hop music these days? Has Disney heard what passes for music these day? The horror of it all if somebody finds something rascist. Now the whole world has to,stop spinning because of one or two people.
Bee
-says thing he likes isn’t racist
-proceeds to be racist AF
What I don’t understand about you people is why you don’t just admit and embrace it? You’re proud to be racist but you can’t stand the word. Pathetic
NIIG
… What? Lol, try again, but this time make some sense…
kev
oh good grief….because we don’t agree with you everyone is automatically racist? grow up troll
C W
Beautiful movie, beautiful song. It is important to remember and have respect for the past AS IT REALLY WAS.
John
Yes u can’t change history tell those people to get educated and quit caving in to the people who claim they know it all
Kari
Really sad. What about those of us who love this happy, upbeat song. Guess we don’t matter.
Bee
lmao
Girl you are TWISTED
“When you’ve never faced any problems in your princess-ass life”
kev
and you are a jerk. some of us do love this song. just because you are a hateful negative person not everyone is like that
Phyllis Johnson
Nobody is CHANGING history, you idiot. But there’s no reason to continue celebrating all the GOOD OLE DAYS of black slaves down on the plantation picking cotton getting beaten and treated like barely-human crap, and now, today, jazzing it up Disney-style and pretending it was joyous and fun and slaves singing with bluebirds on their shoulders. ForF***Sake. Pull your head out!!
Bee
Thank you I’m glad to see one single non-evil entity in the comments
The way these people act this ignorant, is the reason it’s embarrassing to be White.
DisneyFan
Pull your head out of your ass there ARE NO SLAVES IN THE FILM OR THE MOTHERF*N ride. Wake the hell up!
Ann
Really, that’s what you get put lf that song. It’s part of history and it shouldn’t be changed for a bunch of woke babies.
Eric K.
Phyllis Johnson
John – not saying you are a COMPLETE moron, but when you portray circumstances as “black slaves were simply singing and dancing down on the plantations, with bluebirds on their shoulders, telling happy, glorious little stories to white children” — THAT is changing history. Slaves were treated like human garbage, beaten and often killed just for being black slaves. Wake up, and stop being an idiot all your life.
Gee
I haven’t seen the movie in its entirety for at least 50 yrs. But the song is not racist. The video accompanying the song on things like ‘sing-along songs’ videos does show a white boy and an af-am man. So my question is: is it more racist to think a fair skinned kid could or could not have a darker skinned uncle. I would think that inclusive minds would welcome the integration. Maybe someone is trying too hard to be colorblind. I don’t think that someone is me.
Bee
He’s their slave. Not their ACTUAL Uncle. Wowowowow
Are you really this ignorant of history
People like you? Make me hate being American and embarrassed to be White. You. You did it you fool
Reggin
You’re stupid and I might just know why
Ann
Your comments explain everything. You are a brainwashed cancel culture indoctrinated child
Phyllis Johnson
Ann – not saying you are a COMPLETE moron, but when you portray circumstances as “black slaves were simply singing and dancing down on the plantations, with bluebirds on their shoulders, telling happy, glorious little stories to white children” — THAT is changing history, and you have NO IDEA what cancel culture means. You are a fool. Slaves were treated like human garbage, beaten and often killed just for being black slaves. Wake up, and stop being an idiot all your life.
Patti
I quit. Disney has officially angered me for the last time. #donewithdisneyparks
Joem
Five bucks sez you are back at Disney within a month. Also, if not hearing one of thousands of Disney songs “angers” you, you don’t have enough going on in your life.
Walt
On the contrary Those of us who have left Disney have left becuase of a ton of reasons. I am a stockholder, former cast member and collector I willl never sert foot in a park again. What Disney now advocatesa and represents is crap. Liberals ruin everything.
Andrea Conti
I think this is a joke. An Academy Award song that is full of happiness, nothing racial and the same goes for the movie, we have the DVD. This Biden has change everything that never bothered people before and shame on Disney for falling for this boloney. Walt created movies and the theme parks for families to enjoy and spread his happiness, now all destroyed by this loser in the WH.
K. Cook
Deb
Do your research. The bluebird was singing on the shoulder of a Freedman and not a slave.
Phyllis Johnson
Do your own research, Deb. Post-abolition and the many years of Reconstruction were even more violent and deadly for blacks. It was the time that lowlife southern christian conservatives, so full of hate, brought us the KKK and all the terrorism and lynchings of blacks. But you would rather have people believe that true history was this nonsense, because it makes YOU feel good about the actual disgusting, violent history driven by christians and their incessant hatred of anyone different.
Bee
We are SO glad to see you go! 💕
Phyllis Johnson
No kidding, good riddance to these right-wing losers.
Mason
I feel the same way. Since this is what I think: I didn’t leave Disney world , Disney World left me.
Bee
GO DISNEY!!! 🎉🥳
Phyllis Johnson
Good. Nobody will miss you.
Bee
🎉👋
charles Causey
just plain wrong!
Bee
Exactly. Making cutesy movies about happy slaves was absolutely wrong on every level
So proud of Disney for this move!!!
Alex R
Surprise, surprise…pathetic
Jerry Hellinga
Absolutely insane! There’s nothing wrong with that song. What’s really bad is how Disney continues to pander to the most left and non-family values in this country.
Jenny Binford
I can promise you the stupidity comes from what you guys refer to as the right. They’re the wingnuts.
Jay
Not
Sue
No, it is definitely the left that spew the crap.
Walt
Nice try but you keep dreaming that it is the right and not the left wing kook fringe that is not the probem. They have ruined NFL footbal, NBA basketball, Disney, Movies, TV the list goes on and on. But you keep living in fantaasyland – and that aint the one in the magic kingdom
Phyllis Johnson
Jenny is right. Nobody can legislate hate better than Republicans. Especially the ones in Florida.
Bee
Their entire being is just a bundle of hatred
Marvelous Mister Z
This is the kind of low effort, low risk ‘activism’ I’d expect from a virtue signaling bubble head. Eating BS out of the hand of The Mouse’s PR department, defecating that BS out twice as fast on the keyboard, scooping it up into a big enough mound, and dressing that mound up as your straw man. Too bad you don’t have the wits to tackle real civil rights issues, like voter suppression. Sitting at a desk and cheering Disney for beating a dead horse they struck from their film vaults ages ago is more your speed.
Phyllis Johnson
The only reason people are here talking about it is because of all the right-wingers whining over a song, and what they feel is their right to be hateful lowlifes.
Marvelous Mister Z
This has more to do with corporations kissing whatever ass they think will net them the best PR, and these days it’s the collective buttholes of a bunch of irrational internet warriors who are the proverbial ‘Soloution looking for a problem’. And boy are they looking for anything, no matter what degree of separation there is.
Jarell
Better than pandering to racists.
Kevin
And what pray tell is “racist” about Song of the South or “Zip-a-dee-do-dah”? The lyrics are printed above. I see nothing there. Current music on the radio is more racist and offensive. Are you even old enough to ever have actually seen the movie or are you just regurgitating what you have heard others say? The more you overuse the word and cry “racism” the less power the word has.
Amanda
The entire song is filled with racist meaning. Have you actually done research on it are just spewing the whyte propaganda of “there’s nothing wrong with this, I grew up with it” instead of actually looking at what the movie is about and how it makes another race feel?
M.T.
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay, My, oh, my, what a wonderful day. Plenty of sunshine headin’ my way. Your saying these words are racist? What’s wrong with you?
DisneyFan
Say you haven’t watched the movie without saying you haven’t watched the movie. He’s not a slave he’s a sharecropper you actual f’n idiot!
Marvelous Mister Z
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah is a trigger phrase for them.
M
You are a compete nut job.
Janet Joyce
This movie takes place after the war. And I don’t see anything racist in song. You might want to know what Floyd Norman said about the movie. His wife was really against until showed the movie to her and she agreed it wasn’t racist. By the way, Floyd is black and was an animator for the company for years.
J Ryan
It was a total rewriting of history and the reason it is so appealing to those who claim they’re not racist (but hold a reverence for Confederate statues ) is that it portrays African-Americans as being happy being subservient. The same folks who don’t want their kids learning about the evils of slavery and Jim Crow are the ones crying over the removal of Song of the South. The song is not a reflection of history. People working in the fields and denied equality weren’t happy.Racists loved Colin Powell too until he pointed out racism.
Phyllis Johnson
Oh – well… Floyd Norman’s wife said it isn’t racist – well, that settles it! All we need now is for the white supremacist Orange Emperor to agree, and we can all have a party.
Phyllis Johnson
Is this before or after your prove the Orange Emperor’s Big Lie?
Kevin
DisneyFan
Oh give me a break! If you’re talking about “Zip Coon”, let me just cut you off now. Zip Coon sounds absolutely NOTHING like Zip A Dee Doo Dah! In fact Zip Coon uses the melody of Turkey In The Straw..the same melody that Steamboat Willy whistles! You wanna cancel Mickey too?!
Clifton Brewer
Hey, I found the Loony Tunes here on a Disney forum.
Phyllis Johnson
And all you normally had to do to find Loony Tunes was tune into a Trump or Moscow Mitch speech!
Kevin
Always has to be some Liberal nut with TDS to bring Trump into a discussion that has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with him. Congrats Phyllis, today you are that nut. Now take your asinine off topic politics and go.
Phyllis Johnson
Why not – you morons have been whining about Biden in several of the posts already. May as well bring up the whore-buying Orange Emperor and all the conspiracy nonsense that he’s gotten YOU clueless idiots to swallow.
K. Cook
J Ryan
It was a total rewriting of history and the reason it is so appealing to those who claim they’re not racist (but hold a reverence for Confederate statues ) is that it portrays African-Americans as being happy being subservient. This is beyond ridiculous! Disney needs to stop with the nonsense already and leave things alone!
joe
Caved in to the cry baby Libs — whats funny is Disney keeps siding with the very very small part of our society who scream like they have been damaged while the rest of us just go on with our day. BUNCH OF BABIES hahahahahaha
Tonya
Joe,
You hit the nail on the head here.
Clifton Brewer
Hmm, wonder if there’s a common thread between that and all the fights happening at the parks nowadays?
Clifton Brewer
Hmm, wonder if there’s a common thread between that and all the fights happening at the parks nowadays? Well, there’s that and all the high class crowds that came in with all them stimulus bucks.
Kat
I call bull- I am a liberal and I think this is pure nonsense. It’s just a dong, and a happy one at that.
Clifton Brewer
Thank you.
Ken Brenner
Thanks Kat!
Can’t see how those animals in Splash Mountain are in any way racists. That goes for the song as well…
Marianne W
Walt Disney was a genius. We should honor his memory and his brilliant creations and collaborations. Next they will eliminate the Hall of Presidents! This “ wokeness” and pandering to it is erasing history. We should learn from history’s mistake not repeat it. Clearly not obvious as Biden pursues oil deals with Iran and Venezuela. Enough! Let the libertards be the only ones to support Disney theme parks. I guarantee they will be singing “Zip a dee do da” after one week of lost revenue. See how few of them really exist in America!
sande
It was a great movie. Disney would not approve of this.
Jarell
Calling others babies while you are whining about “losing” a stupid song. That’s classic!!
RORMachine
And you were whining to have it removed. I wonder if your parents covered you in bubblewrap before they let you go outside as a kid. You betas are too soft.
Bee
Trump has never won a popular vote. No matter how much you insist on it, your movement is NOT popular.
Didn’t y’all notice you were the laughing stock of the world for four years
Literally no US president has ever been more embarrassing and disrespected on the world stage. Pathetic
Jenny Binford
I’m sorry, but I think its ridiculous. All the butthurt crybabies with nothing better to do can just avoid the ride and parade. I loved the movie when I was a kid. I think of it as a classic, same as Gone With the Wind. It was a movie about a specific time period. Everyone trying to change everything about past history needs to focus more on changing the current state of the country.
Charlie
More liberal BS. First off, how many people even know about the movie? They complain that it happily depicts slavery but it actually is set in the post slavery Reconstruction period. Second, Uncle Remus is telling old African- American fables, so the movie actually helps to preserve that culture. Third, the whole message of the Brer Rabbit story is that you can’t run away from your problems – what is controversial or negative about that?! I say leave both the song and the ride alone. Don’t give in to ignorance.
Kevin
Isn’t it ironic that the Brer Rabbit story is about not running away from your problems/acting like they dont exist and Disney is trying to do just that by retheming a classic ride and taking a song out of a parade.
Phyllis Johnson
“All the butthurt crybabies with nothing better to do can just avoid the ride and parade.” Indeed, all these right-wing racist crybabies should just STFU, because they’ll never know which songs are being swapped out during a parade anyway.
Rroe
Please show me or explain any racial content or remarks that are offensive in that song. Leave it to the largest most prejudice (NAACP) organization in the United States to make Disney cave to removing this.
Nikki
I see nothing in the song but due to the story and how the characters were in the story they have to take it all away. Dumb in my opinion
Frank Ors
CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN NEVER EVEN HEARD OF THIS CARTOON. PRINCESS AND THE FROG IS LIKE MATING SEASON BETWEEN blm and NAT. ASS. ADV. COLORED PEOPLES..
Jarell
Thanks all for flying your racist flags in this comment section!
Kevin
Thanks for your typical “I don’t agree with you so you are a racist” rebuttal.
RORMachine
It’s called a difference of opinion. You wouldn’t know real racism if it bit you on the ass.
Phyllis Johnson
It only takes one or two angry, bitter right-wing morons to make the point everyone else already makes. Ah, The South. They keep proving that Disney made the right choice….
Nikki
Punishing the present for how the past once was doesn’t make sense. I don’t think it’s wrong to have something from that time period posted anywhere. As humans today should know that is now how it is today. We can’t erase the past by taking out the physical reminders. We need those to learn where we came from and what we grew into
Sue Hickey
Absolutely ridiculous the song is wonderful
dan
stop caving to the liberals and with the changes jeesh
JGH
This is really a non-problem, especially in todays world. Just pandering.
Phyllis Johnson
Indeed – not like these racist, right-wing lowlifes will even know which songs are being played in any parade going by inside the parks… They’re still upset about their precious, traitorous Robert E Lee statues… go figure.
Mickeymouse3
Paycheck playing politics again. You know, the ones he says Disney is neutral about.
If he actually watched that movie, he would realize there is a good message to the film.
It’s the, everything is wrong, woke society, that has an issue with the film.
Kelley
It’s sad, but I get it. The next I can see going is the black birds from dumbo and the song “when I see an elephant fly”.
WDWfan
The sad thing is, ‘When I See an Elephant Fly’ was removed from the parade, too.
Steve
Sadly, The current leadership at Disney has once again missed the point by attempting to please those of a victim based ideology. This is not the Disney I love and although short sighted on the part of Disney they are not in charge of me:) Until I return to Disney World and especially on that day I will continue to sing loud and proud. Zippity Doo Dah Zippity Day my my my what a wonderful way”
Phyllis Johnson
No, they just have no need to continue appeasing racist, hateful lowlifes… and it makes complete sense.
Dave D
My wife and I have decided to sell our DVC membership…Disney has gone way to woke for us,plus it has become way too expensive. They have taken away the few perks they gave us like Magical Express and free magic bands, they no longer offer meal plans,no fast passes, and now this silly crap. Someone once said Everything Woke turns to $hit! And sadly it’s true. RIP Disney…you had a good run…but for us it’s over!
Phyllis Johnson
Good. Nobody will miss you, Dave. Have fun at Six Flags.
Dal
I will miss Dave, and my love for Uncle Remus is BECAUSE of this wonderful movie and song. Walts vision is not being honored, and Uncle Remus would be ashamed of the way his “kinfolk” are acting. My daughters love of African Americans is BECAUSE of Uncle Remus!!!
Phyllis Johnson
Yeah, right – we buy that for a dollar, Dal.
Pull this leg and it plays jingle bells.

Frustrating! The song is simple, happy and makes no racist remarks anywhere. There are so many other songs (not Disney) that send far worse messages! No one is banning those?
Joel
I agree 100%.
Cheryl
I guess I am to old to understand. May I please ask what is the offensive part about that song? I have never seen the movie, is bluebird a code word for something else? Or is zip, etc.?? Please explain. Ty.
Deb
John H
Great explanation. Totally on point.
Marcus
Phyllis Johnson
You mean to tell me that REAL history is – black slaves on plantations were treated like human garbage, beaten, even killed, just for being black slaves — and they DIDN’T just dance and sing-along all day long with bluebirds on their shoulders and tell little white kids stories while signing, dancing and laughing?
And WHO is changing history???
Just a load of right-wing Trump idiocy at its finest. Yeah, let’s pretend your idiocy and stupid portrayals are REAL history, right up there with all the statues in the south that celebrate Traitors and try to make traitors into heroes.
Marcus
Phyllis her she should go check yourself and what time. This is actually sudden, the restoration. Do you like them in here one of the people that need to be educated on the subject.
Also calm yourself, not everything is political – you are just as bad as the side you claim to hate with the the manner you are holding yourself in on here. Take a breath, take a step back and reevaluate – use the internet for good not to add extra negative toxic energy.
Madcus

Not sudden – typo
Kevin
Typical Liberalism. Bury your heads in the sand while trying to erase anything YOU deem is “offensive”. Acting like things never happened instead of educating people on why those things are wrong. The Left says they want a dialogue with the Right but their actions say anything but. BTW Can any of you Liberals out there please tell me EXACTLY what is racist and/or offensive about that song?
Kat
I call bull- I am a liberal and I think this is pure nonsense. It’s just a song, and a happy one at that.
Kat
Bull*#**- I am a liberal and I think this is pure nonsense. It’s just a song, and a happy one at that. Stop injecting your biases
Kevin
Observations and facts aren’t “biases”. Sorry to burst your bubble.
Phyllis Johnson
Phyllis Johnson
I mean, seriously, it’s astounding how stupid your own hatred has made you…
Larry Matrale
My oh my what a wonderful day!
Plenty of sunshine headin’ my way
Mister Bluebird’s on my shoulder
It’s the truth, it’s actual
Everything is satisfactual
I’ve never heard anything so racist. Disney is becoming a joke. I’m getting to a point that I really don’t want to go there any more.
Sue
Has Disney not stop to think about the majority they are now offending with their stupidity?
Phyllis Johnson
As long as it’s idiots like you, Sue, I’m sure it doesn’t matter to them.
Dal
Phyllis are you angry with everyone in the world or just those of us who love Uncle Remus?
Phyllis Johnson
Nope – just pointing out how incredibly stupid people get from their own racism and hatred of other people.
cheryl
I have never heard of one person who was listening to it think it was racist. It is a great song. The past is the past. We can learn from it but not if we erase it.
Kevin
EXACTLY Cheryl! Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it.
Phyllis Johnson
It’s NOT the past, Kevin!
Dal
Maybe they WERE dancing and singing because it was at a period in history that they were free…
Phyllis Johnson
Don
Again common sense has no voice here….
Phyllis Johnson
It certainly has no place with conservative christians – that’s for sure.
Sam
A Christian? Really? Go back and read your name calling, hate filled posts. That is not Christian to me
Phyllis Johnson
I’m saying you won’t find common sense in conservative christians. In fact, it’s the hate-filled, racist posts that are coming from christians. As usual.
Kurt
I’ve watched movie many many times. Yes I have a copy on dvd. I can’t find one racist scene in this film. And the song!!!!!!! Give me a break.!!!!!!!!
Anonymous
The fact is, there was none.
Debbie
Barb
I feel its History and by removing the song only erases it
Joem
Not playing a song is not erasing history. Erasing history is pretending that racism doesn’t exist.
Phyllis Johnson
It’s NOT history, Barb! It never happened that way! Black slaves on plantations were treated like human garbage, beaten, even killed, just for being black slaves — and they DIDN’T just dance and sing-along all day long with bluebirds on their shoulders and tell little white kids stories while signing, dancing and laughing…

Americans need to stop rewriting history to cover up their ancestors horrendous mistakes of buying and selling and enslaving human beings. It doesn’t make it go away people
Kevin
Hate to break it to you but Americans aren’t the only people in the history of the world that have sold and enslaved other human beings.
Manny
Lastly, racism is a tool of colonialism and in this case use by a minority to keep people arguing over race rather the real problem which is class.
roc
So please explain to me the “Colonialism” that is taking place in Africa right now where tribes are still enslaving other tribes. Seems they are carrying on what other countries have done away with over a century ago. BTW. Slavery was happening in Africa before the white man showed up. FYI
Top 10 Countries with the Highest Prevalence of Modern Slavery (by total number of slaves) – Global Slavery Index 2018:
India – 7,989,000
China – 3,864,000
North Korea – 2,640,000
Nigeria – 1,386,000
Iran – 1,289,000
Indonesia – 1,220,000
Congo (Democratic Republic of) – 1,045,000
Russia – 794,000
Philippines – 784,000
Afghanistan – 749,000
Phyllis Johnson
Did she say Americans were the ONLY PEOPLE to do that? No. She didn’t. So, why lie to just make a stupid argument? Does pointing your finger away and saying “other people did it, too” make you feel better about our past? That is the act of a coward.
Tim
This world is too WOKE! I will never return to Disney. It’s time to teach our kids our real history, good and bad. How else do you prevent the same mistakes if you erase it ? Show everything to pevent it and stop being so offended by our past!
Phyllis Johnson
Black slaves on plantations were treated like human garbage, beaten, even killed, just for being black slaves — and they DIDN’T just dance and sing-along all day long with bluebirds on their shoulders and tell little white kids stories while signing, dancing and laughing…

Phyllis Johnson
Your idiocy has already gotten old.
Dell
Instead of erasing history, we can learn from it. Disney and many other companies have gone too woke. Very sad to see.
Phyllis Johnson
What is represented by that song and movie is NOT HISTORY, Dell. It never happened that way!
M
All the crap that’s on tv today and Disney is worried about a zip song. This company is pathetic. #SaveSplashMountain
John Olson
Read the words to the song – there is nothing racist!
Shame no one will hear that beautiful voice again!
VDog
ROGER D STEVENS
BOYCOTT DISNEY!!!! BOYCOTT DISNEY!!! What Hell, BOYCOTT EVERYTHING WE DO NOT LIKE!!!!!
Phyllis Johnson
Good – hopefully not one more right-wing moron will walk into a Disney Park again.
Lisa
This is ridiculous! Yes, some people might equate the song with the movie and all its controversy, but those who are too young to even KNOW about the movie (and those not so close-minded) see the song as a happy , hopeful one! Are we going to ban peoples’ emotions now, too?? Some songs playing on the radio and off of albums are more controversial than this! Worse, they garner awards and accolades!!
Jane
This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard! How is this song racist! This is getting so out of hand! What about all of the other people who want to hear this song!
So fed up!
Christine S
I grew up watching Song of the South. It was cute and I don’t consider it racist. As a kid I saw a kindly gentleman telling tall tales that featured a rabbit. That was my takeaway. Just my impression/memory. Peace to all!
Roe
After all the comments, I think I will relax and watch “Song of the South and sing along to the most happiest song ever 😊😊😊😊😊
Rob
You are missing the motive. This move is ALL about taking the heat off Disney Corp and their CEOs from the leftist gay activists screeching about their Anti-Parental rights movement by causing more imagineered racism between blacks and whites.
Everytime leftists start losing an argument they create a diversion.
HIllary C
Phyllis Johnson
Well said, HC!
Lynn
Song of the South is a great musical 🎶 song which millions of American children white or black enjoyed while growing up. Instead of trying to erase the past we need to learn from it. Adapting the park to new ideas is fantastic but quit labeling it racism as it only takes a few to ruin it for others. Whoever shouts the loudest gets heard but the smaller ones get overlooked.
Rob
Imagineering more racism to relieve pressure on Disney Corp. and their CEOs from the screeching from leftist gay activists up in arms over a parental rights bill.
Also, to distract from the losing, immoral, unfounded, ridiculous arguments made by the leftist gay activists. Everytime a leftist loses an argument a distraction WILL be invented. The name calling didn’t work, they don’t have facts, logic or morality on their side so they will go back to race baiting as usual, it’s always worked before.
FYI: James Baskett (February 16, 1904 – July 9, 1948) was an American actor known for his portrayal of Uncle Remus, singing the song “Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah” in the 1946 Disney feature film Song of the South. In recognition of his warm portrayal of the famous black storyteller he was given an Honorary Academy Award, making him the first black male performer to receive an Oscar.
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
My, oh, my, what a wonderful day
Plenty of sunshine headin’ my way
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay!
Mister Bluebird’s on my shoulder
It’s the truth, it’s “actch’ll” Everything is “satisfactch’ll”
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
Wonderful feeling, wonderful day!
Yes, sir Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
My, oh, my, what a wonderful day
Plenty of sunshine headin’ my way
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay!
Mister Bluebird’s on my shoulder
It’s the truth, it’s “actch’ll” Everything is “satisfactch’ll”
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
Wonderful feeling, feeling this way!
Mister Bluebird’s on my shoulder
It is the truth, it’s “actch’ll”, hm?
Where is that bluebird? Everything is “satisfactch’ll”
Zip-a-dee-doo-dah, zip-a-dee-ay
Wonderful feeling, wonderful day!
JJ
This is really sad. I believe the 2 new fireworks shows at Epcot and MK were changed to add more “diversity”. The MK one was supposed to celebrate 50 years of WDW, yet opens and features selections from Princess and the Frog and Soul, 2 months movies that currently have zero representation at WDW. Same with Epcot. Zip ah dee do dah is a heart warming positive cheerful song. Sad to see it removed.
chuck
This is being out of hand for a while now and has to stop. Changing songs ..Stautes and history for people that was not even born back then and really dont even know what was going back then but yet they own people sold them into slavery .All the protesters that went to the Capital building is in jail but yet not one BLM person was put in jail for what they did to buildings and beating of people cause their while .Wake Up Disney
WAP
“Relevant and Inclusive” is code for revising history and excluding truth. Removing Zip-a-dee doo-dah just deprives a new generation of a fun song. Are they going to now scrub “Splash” to remove Tom Hanks’ joyful rendition of the song as well?
Keith Compton
I am a huge Disney fan but the company has failed it loyal fans and pandered to the far left nut jobs. These people can have their feeling hurt by other just breathing. The removal of the song eliminates one of the most uplifting song in the Disney vault. Get a life and Disney needs to remember the loyal fans that have built this brand.
Thomas
How the hell can you delete one of Disney’s theme songs? Other than ‘When You Wish Upon A Star’ it’s THE song everyone knows…I was taught it at pre-school. Ridiculous.
Diana
I’m so upset about this. It’s such a wonderful happy song – our family’s favorite. Splash Mountain was also our favorite ride. There was no reason to cancel either. There was nothing offensive about any of it. You’d hear everyone laughing and singing through the ride. This Cancel Culture is ridiculous.
WDWfan
This segment of the parade was always my favorite because of the cheer and warmth it had. It always brought a tear to my eye, especially the rendition of “zip-a-dee-doo-dah”. Now all of the energy has been replaced with barely any cast members and long, awkward pauses where music used to be. I always loved “zip-a-dee-doo-dah” and “when I see an elephant fly”, and it deeply disturbs me to see two incredible songs erased.
john

Ron
When will Disney once again cater to the majority of people rather than the small groups that want to run the parks? I’ve ben going there for over 40 years now. The Splash Mountain was a great attraction that once again a small lot of people wish to change. The song is uplifitng and inspiring. Since the movie that was mentioned was never really put out on a large scale most people don’t even know about it. We just like the song. If you don’t like the song don’t go on the attraction.
What happens if I don’t like the new song and attraction? Will they change it for me, one of the majorty? NOPE
Hillary C
Just like in Trump’s 2020 election results, you guys aren’t the majority. You might think the world revolves around you, but you are wrong.
If you don’t like the new ride, guess what…DIsney won’t care. Now maybe if someone like Rachel Maddow, Hillary, or HUnter Biden have issues they’d tweak it.
Zac
Disney needs to lower their prices so the oppressed people they claim to care about can afford to visit… just a thought.
Sean Golden
This is exactly why Disney needs to get off Twitter.Stop, allowing “Cancel” Culture to run your business.Standing up to the Gov of Florida is smart, but this is just bad management.
JS
Peggy Schrappe
Ridiculous . It’s a happy song with no references to anything concerning race, stations in life, etc., and many people nowadays don’t even know what movie it was in.
Rhonda
Disney is being ridiculous! There is nothing racist about this song. They should be more concerned about all the unhappy people that have been to Disneyworld. No fast pass, spend lots of money for Genie which is really worthless. They need to concentrate on making their customers happy instead of words to a harmless happy song. Stop trying to be politically correct and keep the song. I am offended that you would remove this song
Raymond Winiecki
This is very sad and absolutely awful!!!! Getting to the point I really don’t want to go to the Disney parks anymore. Terrible!!!!
Mary
Why? I will boycott the ride.
Hillary C
Do you think anyone, literally one single person, other than your pi$$ed off kids, will care? If so, tell me who on this planet is going to lose sleep that Mary is drawing the line at riding the revised SM?
Phyllis Johnson
More self-important Trumpie nonsense.
It’s just amazing, isn’t it…
Ken Brenner
Splash Mountain and this song were NOT a problem to a very high percentage of the WDW visitors before June 1, 2020. Now, wokers are trying to get everything changed and/or cancelled. Our society ought to cancel them!
Regardless, the real problem is the weak and PC leadership (a term used very loosely) at WDW. They are pitiful.
This is an example of how our society has absolutely lost its mind. Incredible…
Phyllis Johnson
What is represented by that song and movie is NOT HISTORY, Tim. It never happened that way! Patti
DONE with Disney Parks. If I took my mom there now she would have a very hard time knowing what’s going on. Unless you have small children who are versed in the latest Pixar movies, you’re out of luck. Disney made their choice, now I’ve made mine.
Hillary C
buh bye
JoAnn
This is absolutely ridiculous. There is nothing racist about the song or the movie and I cannot believe Disney would remove such an iconic milestone from Splash Mountain and the parade. Splash Mountain was one of my favorite rides just because of the happy songs as you go through. What a shame that this world has become so crazed over this stuff especially over two things that show no racism at all. So sad…..
Benjamin Collins
How many people here has a day at Disneyland? The song should be placed on the sound loop in animal kingdom. A day at Disney land was released in 1971, Disney has no power to pull VHS tapes from Disnelands opening day.

AMEN
Sue
One more reason my dismay is boiling over with Disney. This is ridiculous and off the charts for sure. They need their heads examined!

“Walt rolling over in his grave” should be a drinking game. Every time someone whines about a change Disney makes you have to chug a banana cabana.

Princess Tiana deserves her own ride and restaurant by retheming Tom Sawyer Island better than retheming Splash Mountain in Frontierland at the Magic Kingdom

Another case of black people trying to rewrite history. They moan, they get what they want. It’s getting quite pathetic. Pity its always black people who have attitudes, talk at the top of their voices in public as if everyone should hear them. The whole black loves matter rubbish is the cause of all this. All lovee matter
Phyllis Johnson

Rick
Zip A Dee Doo Dah is a truly great song. This is really getting ridiculous. Fans everywhere are opposed to this and Disney only seems to listen to the few troublemakers.
Cheray69
If Song of the South is racist, why do we still have Roots, Gone with the Wind, Django unchained… these all depict slavery in a negative light. Is it because it is about a white and black positive innocent friendship.
Hank Saarinen
Everyone loves this song. Nothing is racist about the song itself.
Sue
The song in itself is not racist or controversial in ANY way! It is an upbeat, positive song. It is a happy song. It has no color or religion. I personally didn’t even know it came from that movie. Such a sad state the world is in when DISNEY takes away a bit of happiness. SMH
Jack Kimble mble
Reading about white people being upset about the removal of racist things is the perfect compliment to my morning coffee. Please… do continue to tell us how the removal of a song tied to a racist movie has ruined Disney for your family. Lol
M
Apparently you don’t know history. The movie takes place after the American Civil War and abolition of slavery. There are no slaves in the movie. I have African American friends that love splash and think this is ridiculous. Did you even see the movie? It’s about Uncle Remus telling Br’er rabbit tales to kids. He’s viewed as a hero. What’s next, you want to get rid of Haunted Mansion because it’s offensive to dead people?! If you don’t like it, don’t ride it.
